2.) Free at last or Caught and Captured.
The hospital was abuzz of news that Carly Corinthos was alive and being treated there. Carly had already been seen by Dr. Kelly Lee the new OB/GYN on staff. Despite the terror of Carly's personal trauma, she hadn't been physically harmed. The baby was developing nicely.
Mac waited patiently for a moment to speak to Carly about the events that transpired. No news had come back on Ric Lansing yet. He decided to knock on the door since the doctor left.
"Carly, How are you?" Mac asked. He didn't really like this woman. His memory was long and he remembered the way she treated his niece Robin, but considering the state he found her in and his position as commissioner he would work this case like any other.
Just as she was about to answer, Sonny Corinthos, Carly's husband came through the door. "Carly," Sonny said.
"Sonny," Carly replied as he approached and gave her a hug.
After his embrace finished, he acknowledged the commissioner, "Mac."
"Sonny," Mac replied with a nod.
Sonny was reluctant to admit his thankfulness, but he couldn't deny that Mac got to her first, and so he said the hardest words for him to say to a law enforcement officer, "Thank you…for saving my wife and our baby."
"No thanks are necessary that is part of the job. I wouldn't mind a little cooperation though," Mac responded, "Carly, you said at the scene that Ric Lansing is the one who held you. Is he the one that brought you there?"
"Ric?" Sonny asked alarmed. He had suspected Ric but to hear the words uttered out loud was another thing.
"Please, Sonny for once let me ask her these questions," pleaded Mac.
"Yes, you are going to find him and arrest him right?" Carly answered.
"Yes, that is our goal. Did he say why he took you?" Mac asked.
"Yes, he wanted to take my baby. He's married to Alexis and he wanted to give her a son. They have Molly together, but he wanted to steal my child and give him as a gift to Alexis, as a way to stick it to Sonny. They're brothers and he hates Sonny. What I would I'd like to know is, how in the world did you find me?"
"A young woman came into the station and gave us the address. I'm holding her as a material witness until I can verify as to whether or not she should be treated as a suspect. Was Ric working with a young woman?
"A young woman?" Sonny asked, "Who?"
"Did Ric ever mention working with a woman that goes by the name Beth?" Mac asked Carly while ignoring Sonny.
"Beth? No, but he did have Faith Rosco around a lot. They're lovers, and were in on this. I don't think Alexis knew. Ric never mentioned anyone named Beth," Carly answered.
"Did anyone come into the house?" Mac asked.
"He had visitors, but he never mentioned me to them. No one besides Faith seemed to know that I was there."
"Did Ric mention anyone else, besides Faith?"
"Just that he had associates, he did mention one woman, a con-woman that went by name Angela, but I never saw her. She was keeping tabs on Jason and Sonny. He did mention that he was searching for a girl, but never said who," Carly stated as she fiddled with the sheets on the bed.
"When you feel well enough I need you to come down to the station and identify the witness, because they may be a perpetrator. Hell, she could even be this Angela for all we know. For now I will continue to hold the witness until I can verify whose side she's on," Mac stated.
"I'm supposed to get released tomorrow. I can try to come in then," Carly stated.
"You shouldn't have to go in at all. Mac, can't you get a picture of this witness, so that my pregnant wife shouldn't have to go down there?" Sonny asked.
"I'll see what I can do," Mac replied as he left the room.
After a minute there was knocking on the door, and Jason popped his head in, "Jason!" Carly exclaimed upon seeing her best friend.
"Carly," Jason stated as he entered the room further, "Are you alright?"
"The doctor says that the baby and I are going to be fine," Carly answered.
"That's great," Jason replied.
Carly pulled her hair back behind her ears, "Mac says they have a witness."
"He does?" Jason questioned.
"Mac mentioned that she went by the name Beth," Carly asked.
"Beth? I don't know anyone named Beth?" Jason stated.
"The only Beth I know is…Elizabeth?" Sonny said joking.
Jason gave him a curious look, "I'll go see what I can find out."
Sonny nodded at Jason's statement and grabbed Carly's hand.
"How would Elizabeth be the witness? She's not even been around," Carly stated.
"I don't know what to think. I was just joking, but Jason's divorce settlement was today. Elizabeth didn't ask for a dime during the divorce, so I don't know what she thinks she'll stand to gain from this if it is her," Said Sonny as Jason walked out to gather what information he could.
