Chapter 6.) There's Something Happening Here

She was starting to nod off. Occasionally, Elizabeth would hear footsteps and it would rouse her attention. There seemed to be rustling coming from the end of the corridor not far from her cell, but just beyond her vision. The scuffling and struggling continued for about a minute. She wasn't sure what was happening but knew it wasn't good. She decided to hide under the bed, in an attempt to make her invisible. Suddenly, smoke was billowing in the room. It was real, it came from a canister. Still it made her eyes water. She could hear the key being placed into the lock and prayed like the dickens that the person not be able to find her before a guard came down the hallway.

Once the door to the cell opened she could hear quiet footfalls, but she couldn't see them. She was doing her best to keep quiet and not cough, but the smoke was noxious and she was losing that battle. Suddenly, the mattress was lifted and a man in a ski-mask grabbed for her, but she kicked at him and was able to land a blow to his lower leg. He went to grab for her again but she was able to kick him in the nuts. Frustrated, he shoved her back and she landed roughly against the bed and lost her balance. The shove was rough enough to cause her to gash her arm on the metal of the bed. From her position on the ground, the masked man loomed over her.

"What do you want from me?" Elizabeth asked weakly.

"Everything," the man said on a whisper.

"No, please," Elizabeth said as she succumbed quickly to the dark as she was stunned into unconsciousness.

Back at Johnny's Condo

"See it's like this, she didn't tell you because she was held prisoner by Anthony until she gave birth to Elizabeth. See Sera wasn't a real Russo. Gino Russo worked for my father. Sera was placed with him when she was just five by Trevor until such time as she was made to be useful," Johnny said.

"Why did Anthony and Trevor kidnap her? Who is she really?" Sonny wanted to know.

"She's was the ultimate revenge until Elizabeth came along. Sera was short for Serafina Giambetti," Johnny said.

Sonny look spooked, "You mean as in Maximus Giambetti?"

"The one and the same. Serafina was his oldest, my father faked her death in an explosion. Maximus assumed she was dead and searched for who killed her. He thought he saw his daughter die. Serafina was supposed to be married off to Tagliati. But you knocked her up and ruined my dad's plans. He needed her intact."

"So I derailed his plans so to speak, so he took Elizabeth, raised her and decided to marry her off to my right hand man," Sonny said.

"In essence yes, see originally, he was going to marry Elizabeth off into the Tagliati Organization, but he was killed by your very own Jason Morgan, here. You became a Don in your own right, so they redirected their efforts toward you. They figured you two would be so mad at one another and take each other out once the truth was discovered about Elizabeth. They didn't count on Elizabeth being non-combative. Once she found out, she didn't think she could trust any of you. Both of you made it more than clear that you didn't care for her. "

"What's to stop me from killing you? You knew all this and you let my…Elizabeth be traded like an animal. You didn't say anything. You let us believe she was some sort of con, a deviant even among people like us. Why shouldn't I kill you?" Sonny asked indignant. He wasn't ready to admit that Elizabeth could be his, but he was mad at the whole situation.

"I don't have an answer for you," Johnny said, "Although, you may want to hold off. I was the only Zacchara that Elizabeth liked. We went through hell together. She may take issue with it."

"Don't leave town, and don't say anything to Trevor or your looney father," Sonny stated.

"I wouldn't dream of it," Johnny said as Sonny backed away and headed toward the door with Jason following behind him.

PCPD Lockup

3:30 am

The knocked out guard was waking up. The room smelled peculiar to him. He started to remember what happened. Someone had put him in a chokehold knocking him out. He walked down the hallway. The guard noticed immediately that the door to the prisoner's cell was open. As he walked in he spotted the blood on the ground. Heading back out he hit the alarm, letting the other officers know that a prisoner had escaped.

Officers scurried in. It was a skeleton crew, but Detective Cruz was working tonight and he took point investigating the scene. Luckily, they had footage to see exactly what transpired.

There was someone who entered through the back with a mask, it looked like the back door had been unlocked. It was clearly an inside job. The video from another angle showed the perp walking out with the unconscious prisoner over his shoulder.

Jason and Sonny were on their way back to General Hospital. When an alert came over the police scanner. They kept one in their vehicles so they would be a step ahead of the police.

"All units be advised sending BOLO for tall masked man, white approximately 5'10" and 150 lbs. Suspected of breaking into lockup and abducting material witness, listed as Morgan, Elizabeth goes by the name Beth. Victim is 5'2" tall and approximately 102 lbs. Last video footage shows abductee as unconscious."

"They took Elizabeth?" Sonny asked, "Can't the PCPD do anything right?"

"It would appear not. I'm going to drop you off at the hospital and see what I can find out at the station," Jason said.

"You keep me informed and take someone with you," Sonny ordered as Jason pulled up to the hospital and Sonny jumped out.
