I don't own ABC, General Hospital or the movie or book "Kiss the Girls" . Thank you for all the kind reviews and inspiration. They
mean a lot to a Liason Girl like me!
8. A Dark Webb
"How do you plan to find Lucky?" Alcazar asked Jason as he continued to pace around his foyer.
"I'm going to start with Luke," Jason replied. It was all too much to wrap his head around. How could Sam, his Sam, be involved and not say anything? Did he even know her at all?'
All the sudden, tiny footsteps could be heard running around the corner. "Papa Zo! Papa Zo! Is mommy here?" Hearing this Jason looked down to see a small boy, who looked to be about two and a half or three years old. He had brown hair, light blue eyes, and Elizabeth's lips. He was beautiful.
Lorenzo knelt down to the boy, "She's still out Cameron. She had quite a few errands to run, but she'll be back in the next couple of days."
The little boy tilted his head in confusion. That wasn't what his mommy told him when she left. Instinctively, he knew something wasn't right but he was too small to verbalize it. He'd seen too much, and the small boy shuddered. "It's okay, Cameron. She left you with me and I promise I will keep you safe," Lorenzo added to reassure him.
Cameron nodded in understanding and looked at the man just behind Lorenzo. He'd seen him before. His mommy kept a picture of him. He pointed and said, "Daddy? You, Daddy. You work," Cameron said.
Jason didn't understand the last part, so Lorenzo filled him in, "Elizabeth has shown him your picture, and told him that the reason you haven't been around is because you have to work."
Jason nodded his head in understanding and knelt down to the young boy, "Hi Cameron. I'm Jason."
Cameron was hesitant at first but then reached out shook Jason's hand. He wasn't sure what to make of this man. He knew it was his daddy, but he didn't really know what that meant, and most of the exposure he had to men was very frightening. Jason gently shook it back. He would've liked to have hugged him, but he could tell the boy was scared and he didn't want to traumatize his own child.
Cameron looked at the hand that Jason was shaking and it was bare. Then he grabbed Jason's other hand. "No ring. Give to mommy?" Cameron asked confused.
Jason was confused, but his train of thought was interrupted by Lorenzo.
"Cameron, my maid Lucy has put on a movie for you and got you some cookies and juice if you would like to go watch it."
Justus knelt down, "You don't remember me, but I'm your cousin Justus. Can I watch the movie with you?"
Cameron looked at his Papa Zo, and his Papa smiled at him so he nodded his head 'yes' at Justus, and took his hand so they could watch a movie.
Cameron nodded his head and quietly went to the living room and watched a movie.
"Well, that was amazing," Jason said his breath almost stolen. "What was he looking for?" Jason asked.
"You said you went through with the divorce today, so it was my understanding that Elizabeth was going to ask you for the wedding band back that she gave to you," Lorenzo answered.
"Oh yeah, she uh…She did ask, but I told her that I threw it out," Jason answered, "At the time, what I knew was that she wasn't entitled to it. Why did she want it anyway?"
"She wanted it for Cameron, for when he was older. That way he would know that his parents were married and that she cared about you and you cared about her," Lorenzo stated, "It's a shame that you threw it away. She just wanted something to give to him that came from you, something from his father."
Jason sat there remembering the look on Elizabeth's face earlier when he told he threw it away. 'She really was devastated.' It didn't sit well with him. The hurt that he caused her. 'Why did I have to do that? She warned me. She warned me that she was innocent and stopped me from saying even more things that I would later regret. I'm sorry…Oh God. I'm so sorry.' Of course, he voiced none of this before Lorenzo, but his thoughts had run rampant. 'What was I thinking? I was so needlessly cold to her.' Jason decided to collect himself.
"If he knows me, then why was he so frightened of me?" Jason asked.
"I'm not sure what you know," Lorenzo said as he peered in Cameron's direction. The boy was under the spell of the cartoon in front of him.
"She ended up with Reginald and the Quartermaine's. At some point my Cousin Ned flew her west and she moved around a lot because she was being chased by Ric or people working for him," Jason stated.
"That's paraphrasing it. Elizabeth was kidnapped when she was 3 months pregnant. Ric caught on pretty quickly that Elizabeth hadn't been feeling well. He's really obsessed with her. It's gross, because he's her uncle. He likes to tell people that she's got a thing for him, but really he's the sick one. Anyways, Elizabeth was held for nearly two months at Ric's prison. She managed to escape, even stole his car, but it was low on gas. Made it about a mile from the Quartermaine's before she had to get out and walk. Reginald just happened to be driving by and saw her. He drove her to the mansion and hid her in his quarters. She had to keep a low profile. Unfortunately, Monica like so many was not a fan of her so she bought into the lie and on more than one occasionlet Elizabeth know that she thought she was trash. Getting back on topic, Reginald picked Elizabeth up. She was barefoot, and well you know how cold New York is in February," Lorenzo stated and Jason nodded to continue as he was listening, "Reginald called the only reasonable doctor in that house and he helped her."
"You mean Alan?" Jason asked as he ran a weary hand over his face.
"Yeah, Alan. He treated her wounds and made sure she had the vitamins she needed and was fed. He was really good to her. When Monica wasn't around Lila would visit Elizabeth. Reginald, said that Elizabeth was so traumatized by what happened and yet resolved to protect herself and Cameron anyway that she could. It was through Lila's faith in her that Elizabeth fought her way back. In the meantime, Ric became desperate to find her, he started doing some digging and thought it was possible she had ended up at the Quartermaine's. His vehicle was found not far from there. Plus, Edward nearly slipped up one day when he was at the hospital. Out of a sense of duty, Edward called Ned to town and they devised a plan to get Elizabeth away from the danger. They flew her into Oregon and then drove her 8 hours east to Idaho Falls. They figured that no one would think to look for her there. And for a while it worked. Elizabeth took a job at a museum, and rented a very small apartment," Lorenzo added, and then she had Cameron. It was okay for a while. The Quartermaine's covered the medical costs, which Elizabeth hated, but she was hardly in a position to say no. They tried to give her more money, but she just wouldn't take it. She thought you would feel she was taking advantage of your family, and she knew that you weren't aware of Cameron's existence. She thought, it was a betrayal that they paid her medical bills," Lorenzo stated.
"What happened in Idaho?" Jason asked upset.
"Anthony found out about Ric kidnapping Elizabeth. He placed a call to several different crews all across the country and told them to be looking for a young single woman that was going to be giving birth. Someone had eyes on the hospital. No town is too small for despots eager to make a buck. Elizabeth was spotted and was followed home. The attack came a week later. Ned arranged for a grocery delivery for Elizabeth and Cameron. Elizabeth thought it was the delivery person. Luckily, she had a chain locked on the door. The delivery guy tried to bust through as she answered, but Elizabeth had a taser that stunned the would be assailant. Liz also had a go bag. I guess years being raised on and off by mob taught her some things. She put her baby in the stroller and left Idaho behind," Lorenzo stated.
"And none of you thought to enlighten Sonny or myself. I know we can be difficult, but we can be reasonable too," Jason replied. 'All this hurt was so unnecessary,' Jason thought angrily, "Where did they go next?" Jason asked.
"New Mexico. They stayed there for two months. I got a call from Ned of all people that Elizabeth had vanished from Idaho. At some point she must have confided in them that I was her step-father and had offered her assistance if needed. Thank goodness they reached out because Elizabeth needed it. Your grandmother knew why she left Idaho, but 'til this day I don't think that she ever knew what happened in New Mexico. I think Ned tried to protect your grandmother from learning the hard truth. Thankfully by then your grandmother had contacted Francis and explained the entirety of the Elizabeth's history to him. Both he and your grandmother agreed that you and Sonny had been poisoned against Elizabeth so Francis took that vacation at the end of July a couple of years back. He managed to get to Elizabeth the day of the second attack. It was Ric this time. She was no longer pregnant and when she woke up, he was waiting for her. She got the feeling that something wasn't right, and as she exited the restroom, Ric came out from the shadows and tackled her to the ground. She fought the best she could but she's so tiny. Scratched his face pretty good and kneed him in the groin. He tripped her and she fell into the table and hit her head. Luckily, Francis showed up, and had it spooked Ric, so he took off. Francis saw him leaving, but he was worried about Elizabeth he gathered her and Cameron and got them out of town, and to a doctor, one that stays off the books. He set her up next in Tennessee, West Virginia, Iowa, South Dakota, Wyoming…She's been hiding for a while, and somehow they've managed to find her nearly every time."
"Was she hurt every time?" Jason asked incensed.
Lorenzo shook his no, but then explained, "Francis couldn't always stay with her. I gave him money to move her when she needed it. She was hurt in Iowa. Francis got a warning to her but it was almost too late. They sent a woman after her this time. No one we know. Elizabeth was able to fend off that attack with some bruises and a black eye. The other girl didn't fair very well either from what I've heard," Lorenzo stated, but then followed with, "Iowa was the next attack, last year. Lucky Spencer. I don't know how someone like Luke could produce someone so dumb. Lucky took a vacation around this time last year, and made his way to Iowa. He watched Elizabeth and Cameron for two days, broke into their home and waited for them. Elizabeth was working the night shift at a diner not far from her home. She went inside, the power wouldn't come on. She checked around and was pushed to ground from behind. Lucky slammed her head into the ground while Cameron was screaming in terror. Luckily, Elizabeth's neighbor was rough biker who Correlli paid to keep an eye on her. He told him that she had a crazy stalker ex who was obsessed. He heard the screams from Cameron and came running. He ripped Lucky off of Elizabeth. They got into a tussle and Lucky got away. Elizabeth had broken ribs and a concussion. I'm sure there was more, Elizabeth refused to talk about that attack. It was brutal, and Cameron saw the whole thing. They ended up in Wyoming after that. I got word that Ric and Trevor were headed there with a cartel as back up. I had Francis fly in and get her out of there. Francis took a leave of absence last year for a family emergency, what you and Sonny didn't know was he was protecting your family. Elizabeth has been in hiding with Francis ever since, until today. Elizabeth wanted to end the marriage and set you free. She knew she meant nothing to you. This was her last chance at getting her life back. Ending the farce of a contract that she had unknowingly entered into. From here she was set to go to Palermo to meet her grandfather, Maximus. Instead she was kidnapped," Lorenzo ended with a shake of his head.
Jason shook his head, "I'm going to let Cameron stay here for now, because I don't want to be one more man that scares him. When Elizabeth gets home we'll discuss a custody agreement. For now, stay here with him. She trusted you, and for now I have to as well." Jason peered through the door at the little boy in the living room. "It was nice meeting you Cameron. I'm going to come back and visit you real soon," Jason said.
Cameron turned and waved, "Bye Daddy," and turned back to his movie.
"I'll see you later Cameron. Thank you for sharing your movie and cookies with me," Justus said as he joined Jason as they exited the mansion.
No sooner had Jason and Justus had left Lorenzo's Fortress did Jason receive a call, "Morgan," he answered.
"Jason, it's me Diane. My computer nerd stumbled onto a major problem. Have you ever heard of something called the Dark Webb?"
"Yes, we don't dabble in it. But it's prolific for sex trafficking and other types of sexual deviancy. Why?" Jason asked concerned.
"My nerd, just stumbled upon an auction taking place, and listed at the top is of the bidding is a young woman who's connected to 4 major crime families. She's being sold. There's someone from Miami bidding on her, right now."
"Meet me with your nerd at the hospital. Sonny needs to know what's happening and how," Jason stated.
"What's happening," Justus asked.
"Elizabeth has been placed for sale on the dark webb, and someone is bidding on her," Jason advised as he sped toward the hospital.
Elsewhere….
Drip..drip…drip..there was a noise that she just couldn't shake in the background. The room was spinning. It was so dark, dank, and musty. The room only had candlelight. 'How archaic' she thought in her drugged stated.
"I sutured the wound on your arm," a smooth, rich voice said from across the room.
Elizabeth only whimpered in response.
"Everything you need to clean it is next to you," the voice said.
Being a nurse she knew something was off, "This analgesic, what have you given me?"
"That's why I chose you Elizabeth, your intelligence. Also your artistic ability. Don't look so surprised, I've been invested in you for a long time. I just never thought I'd have the chance to have you, but we have time for all that now. You will be me my greatest conquest yet," The voice said smoothly before continuing, "Now listen very closely. You must follow the rules."
