I don't own ABC, General Hospital, Kiss the Girls or the characters therein!
Thank you all for the comments.
Simple Faith: Certain people are going to suffer. I promise you that.
Guest: Max will find out but they want to be sure that Elizabeth is truly related to the biggest crime boss in the land before revealing it to everyone. Francis took
Cameron to Palermo for protection and good faith.
Kcke2pen: Elizabeth is guarded. She will eventually let them in but she has been stalked and beaten and treated terribly for essentially being Sonny's kid.
Trini12180: Alec is based off of Morgan Freeman's portrayal of Alex Cross. I love the character, because he has depth.
Arcoiris0502: Sonny will have to make clear where Carly stands, but I think you will find that Carly comes around on her own b/c Elizabeth is a force to be reckoned with.
Fundays: Elizabeth is in love with Jason, but he has a lot to atone for. He knows it, and right now JM is truth seeking.
Beachgirl114:Elizabeth has an inner strength, but no one other than Francis and Epiphany have reiterated her worth.
BJQ: Thank you for the continued support. I'm glad you're enjoying the story so far.
Notenoughlove: Your comments are always welcome! Thank you for reading!
For those of you I may not have mentioned or those of you who haven't made a comment but are enjoying the story so far. Thank you for taking the time to read this!
17.) I Spy a Lying Conartist
After bringing their food to the Metro Court, Elizabeth and Alec ate. Elizabeth didn't really have clothes so she just changed into the robe that was hanging up in the room. Alec took one bed and Elizabeth took the other. After a while, it was evident that Alec was sleeping, but Elizabeth was having a rather difficult time. She usually didn't fall asleep in the bed. Elizabeth got up and paced around the room. She looked at the clock, and she knew that Francis should be landing with Cameron right about now. She hoped that she made the right decision, and that Jason would understand. The threats needed to end before Cameron was brought home (wherever that was). There were enemies coming from every angle, some were family. People that she should be able to trust, were the ones that she trusted the least. Elizabeth finally found a place to fall asleep, on the floor, sitting up across from the door of the hotel room. It was there that she finally felt safe.
Meanwhile at the PCPD…
Sam was finally seen by a judge at 8 am and bail was posted by Jason. Back at PCPD, Sam was released and Jason was waiting. She went to give him a hug, "Thank you for taking care of my bail," Sam said.
"Don't worry about it. I want you to go with Milo to Sonny's for your protection. Ric is in the wind and there are some things that we need to take care of," Jason said not really returning the hug back, but Sam didn't say anything.
"Jason, I think we should stay together," Sam whined.
"Sam, I don't have time to argue with you. Please do what I ask," Jason said and then looked at Milo, "Please escort Sam to Sonny's."
"No problem," Milo said and then looked at Sam, "Ms. McCall."
"Fine," Sam said looking back at Jason and not agreeing with his decision before walking out of the station. To her it was odd that she wasn't being escorted back home to the penthouse.
Jason made his way to the Metro Court. He needed to catch up to his wife. He called the Metro Court where luckily Carly had given him privileges one of which was being able to call and find out room numbers of some of the patrons. Alec and Elizabeth were on the 4th floor.
It was now just after 9 am. He really needed to get Elizabeth to safety. He started to knock on the door but it opened just to a startled Alec Winters. "Mr. Morgan?"
"Hello Dr. Winters. I heard Elizabeth was staying with you," Jason said in a low voice.
"Yes, she's here. I got a call from the PCPD they need me to go in and consult on something. Do you want to stay with her for a while?"
"Yes, we may be gone when you get back. I want to take her to Sonny's. She may end up staying there," Jason said.
"Just try not to upset her," Alec said as he placed his index finger over his mouth in a quiet directive to the mob enforcer in front of him. He moved back from the door and Jason was surprised to see Elizabeth asleep across from the door on floor. She was sitting upright with her back against the wall. Her knees were tucked to her chest and her head was resting on them.
Alec placed his jacket on. "This is my cell phone number. You may find that she may need my help."
"Thanks, I'll keep that in mind," Jason said. Alec then left for the station. Jason took a seat and watched Elizabeth. He was trying to figure out why she was sleeping on the floor. It was unusual. Two beds and she slept in neither.
Jason decided to order breakfast for them. He picked up the hotel phone and began to dial, but was startled when Elizabeth let out a shriek of terror. Jason dropped the phone and went to her. It was clear that she was dreaming and terrified. She'd had bad dreams in the hospital but nothing like this. "Cameron! Run, Cameron! -Stop! Leave! Please stop! Cameron run, baby run!"
Jason was startled. He didn't know what to do. This was obviously something she had lived through and that his son had lived through. Just what the hell happened to them? Hearing what they lived through versus witnessing the result of what they'd lived through were two different things.
"Elizabeth," Jason said as he got down next to her, but she didn't respond.
"Elizabeth, sweetie, please wake up," Jason pleaded, but she was still shrieking and pleading.
Jason wrapped his arms around her, "Elizabeth, wake up. You're safe. No one is going to hurt you."
"Jason?" Elizabeth questioned as she opened her eyes and looked around bewildered.
"You're safe, Elizabeth," Jason said trying to reassure her.
Elizabeth pulled away from his embrace and stood up, "There's no such thing as safe where I'm concerned, Jason." Elizabeth looked down and realized that her movements had caused her robe to open slightly. She turned away from Jason and retied her borrowed robe, "What are you doing here anyways?"
"I wanted to talk to you. I didn't get a chance to last night. Look, I know you sent Cameron away. I wish I would've known you'd been planning that," Jason said.
"I probably should've told you, but I didn't have your number on me at the hospital and once I knew I was going live with my statement, Cameron's safety was at the forefront of my mind," Elizabeth said as she turned around.
"Can I ask where you sent him?" Jason asked.
"That depends," Elizabeth said.
"That depends on what exactly?" Jason asked taking in her appearance. Her hair was disheveled and her lips were full. She still had a tendency to nibble on her bottom lip, and her eyes were the deepest blue he'd ever seen.
"It depends on whether you're asking as my father's enforcer or Cameron's father," Elizabeth stated.
The decision was easy, "Cameron's father," Jason said.
Elizabeth noted his quick response, "You can't tell anyone. Not my father, or your best friend Carly, or even Aunt Courtney."
"I'm not with your Aunt Courtney," Jason said, "but I promise I won't tell her either."
Elizabeth nodded, "Well whoever you are with, you can't tell her either."
"I don't think you'll have to worry about that. My relationship with my current girlfriend is pretty much over," Jason said.
"Just so long as Cameron's whereabouts stay between us," Elizabeth said.
"Fine. I agree. His safety is most important," Jason said.
"Francis took Cameron to Palermo," Elizabeth said.
"Palermo?" Jason questioned. "I have family there. At least, I think that I do. Maximus will have everything he needs to test Cam's DNA, and he even has mine."
Jason nodded. He wasn't thrilled, but it certainly removed Cameron from the situation.
"I just don't know who to trust. Cameron doesn't need to be here to experience anymore of the carnage. As his father, I'm sure you can understand my fear."
"I can. I wish you would agree to let your father and I protect you and Cameron," Jason said.
"One thing at a time. Right now I'm just trying to survive day to day. I've made a lot of enemies simply by existing."
"Sonny and I aren't your enemies, Elizabeth," Jason said.
"I guess we'll see what happens. If you don't mind I going to get washed up and get dressed. Elizabeth only had her purse with a small amount of travel size tooth paste and deodorant. She'd have to settle for the hotel soap. She figured it would have to do. She showered quickly and got dressed while Jason waited. Liz was wearing the same pair of jeans, black shirt, and brown leather jacket from the day before.
"Besides addressing the fact that I sent Cameron out of town, is there a reason you're still here, and where is Alec?"
"Alec got called to the PCPD to consult on something, and I was wondering if you would come with me to Sonny's. There's a lot we need to go over regarding Ric."
Elizabeth nodded, "Fine. Just keep Carly away from me."
"Carly won't be a problem," Jason said.
Liz rolled her eyes and smirked, "Sure she won't. I need to leave a note for Alec to let him know where I will be."
"I told him that I was going to ask you to go to Sonny's with me," Jason said.
"Fine, but I'm still leaving him a note," Elizabeth said.
"Not going to stop you," Jason said as she went to write a note to Alec. He did his best not to notice her as she was bent over to sign the note, but Jason ended up watching her. He felt guilty but he couldn't help it. She was in great shape, lean and lovely. He wasn't sure how he was supposed to feel. She was his wife, but it was never a real relationship. He never allowed himself the chance to get that far. He looked away as she turned around.
"Alright, I'm ready," Elizabeth said. 'He could at least look at me.'
"Okay," Jason said as they walked to the door.
Greystone Manor.
Sam was waiting in the living room. Jason had yet to arrive. 'Where was he?" she wondered. She was looking at the expansive property. There was a time, if she had played her cards right, all of this could've been hers. Sonny was okay, but Jason was a sex god. All that strength, and he was wealthy to boot. He didn't mind that she spent his money. He loved her, and she was certain that she really loved him too. She mimicked the emotion with so many people that she knew that she must love Jason.
"Sam," Sonny said as he entered the living room.
Sam turned around briefly, "I was just admiring your gardens. The estate really is lovely."
"Yes, it is. Take a seat. I want to speak to you," Sonny said.
Sam took a seat, "Sam, did Jason tell you why you were brought here?"
"For my protection. Ric might harm me," Sam said in manner that was meant to portray the picture of innocence.
Sonny noticed her demeanor and for the first time in her company felt that he was being conned, "That's true. He's capable. I guess my question is, what reason does Ric have to harm you? What do you know that makes you a threat to him?"
Sam looked away for a moment feigning innocence, "I don't know what you mean, Sonny. Ric and I have no connection."
Sonny let it alone. He decided he would confront her again when Jason arrived. It was at that moment that Carly came down the stairs. "What's she doing here?" Carly whispered to Sonny.
"Trust me will you?" Sonny said.
Carly took a seat on the couch, "Sam, to what do we owe this pleasure?"
"Jason sent me here for my protection against Ric," Sam replied, "Jason told me you were doing okay. I'm glad you're okay."
On the way to Sonny's
Elizabeth gazed out the front passenger window. It was quiet drive over. She hadn't looked in Jason's direction or uttered a word. She really wasn't sure what she was supposed to say. It had been since their wedding day that he'd been polite to her. She wasn't sure what information she could offer on Ric. She'd been his hostage, a mere incubator for the child he intended to steal and give to Alexis. Now she was working with men who not but a few days ago were disgusted by her existence. She wasn't sure what she was supposed to say or how she was supposed to act.
"Are you comfortable? You can control your own temperature settings if it's too cold," Jason explained.
"I'm fine, thank you," Elizabeth replied politely as she continued to look out the window.
Jason knew that she was doing her best to not interact with him. He wasn't sure what was going through her head. It was obvious that she didn't trust him, but was at least willing to hear him and Sonny out. Jason took a turn down a long driveway. Elizabeth noticed the turn and looked forward to see a lengthy driveway.
She was awestruck. She thought they were taking the long way to The Towers. She didn't know that Sonny had moved. It was a lot to take in. She didn't know what to think.
Jason parked at the front of Sonny's mansion. Elizabeth went to open the door, but he stopped her. "I'll get your door."
"It's not a big deal. I can manage," Elizabeth said as she started to get out of the SUV.
"Elizabeth, I know I didn't treat you well. I was wrong, but you deserve to be treated like a lady. Allow me to open your door," Jason said.
Elizabeth stopped moving. She wasn't in the mood to argue with Jason. His new behavior was in itself a turn of events. Jason opened the door and offered her his hand to help her get down. She accepted his hand and carefully exited Jason's SUV. Her ankle was still tender from her fall during her escape. They made their way inside. Jason was family so he was able to enter the property at his leisure. Elizabeth simply entered with him. She could hear Sonny conversing with someone. She and Jason came around the corner and settled upon Sonny standing behind his couch. Carly sitting on the said couch and a brunette that was talking to them.
The brunette noticed them enter, "Jason!" she said as she ran clumsily to him.
Elizabeth simply took a step back from running woman. She seemed familiar to Elizabeth. She'd seen her a couple times before. It was on the tip of her tongue. The woman was practically climbing on Jason, hugging him with everything she had. Elizabeth was surprised because Jason wasn't really hugging the woman back but the clingy brunette had yet to notice.
Elizabeth chose to move to the side. As always, her husband wasn't really her own.
"Elizabeth," Sonny said cautiously, "I'm so glad you were willing to come. We have a lot to discuss."
"We do? I just thought you wanted my help with regard to Ric Lansing," Elizabeth said.
"Why would Sonny need your help?" Sam chimed in having let Jason go to look at Elizabeth with a sneer.
"Because I'm his number one target," Elizabeth said.
"Well what did you do, double-cross him?" Sam asked.
Elizabeth shook her head no, "I didn't double-cross him. He's my enemy for the things he's done to me."
"Sure," Sam said with an eye-roll.
Elizabeth approached Sam, "You seem really familiar to me."
"Really? I just have one of those faces," Sam replied.
Elizabeth started laughing it was almost uncontrollable, "Now, I know where I've seen you before…Angela,"
"You must have me confused," Sam said crossing her arms.
"I will always remember the woman who framed me for stealing Jason's money," Elizabeth said.
"Jason you can't believe her," Sam said.
"Sam, you were arrested and they mentioned one of your alias' being Angela Monroe," Jason said taking a step back from Sam.
"It's not true. You can't believe her. She's a liar," Sam said.
"Oh the irony, Sam is it?" Elizabeth said. "You delivered that money after planting my prints when Ric abducted me. You knew I was being held there. You did nothing to help me, you were only concerned with getting paid your cut of Jason's money."
"Jason, Sonny you can't believe a word she says," Sam said adding tears for emphasis.
Carly stood up, "You know it was funny, when I was held by Ric he mentioned a woman named Angela that was keeping an eye on Sonny and Jason. Was that you, Sam?"
Sam didn't say a word the jig was clearly up. She looked at back and forth between Sonny and Jason. "There wrong. I-I wouldn't do that," Sam said upset. She felt the walls closing in.
"Save it, Sam," Jason said not wanting to hear anymore.
"But, Jaysen!" Sam whined hoping he would listen.
"Oh my God," Elizabeth said walking closer to Sam. "I know where else I know you from, you bitch."
"What are you talking about?" Sam said turning to face Elizabeth, but Sam didn't have time to maneuver out of the way. Elizabeth clocked Sam in the eye catching her off guard and backing her up into a wall. Jason was about pull Elizabeth off when Sonny stopped him.
"Let's hear what Elizabeth and Sam have to say," Sonny said.
They looked at the women fighting before them. "It was you!" Elizabeth yelled.
"What is this crazy bitch talking about?" Sam said.
Elizabeth grabbed Sam and slammed her head into wall, she placed her arm across Sam's neck, "I'll show you a crazy bitch. Tell me Sam, how was your recovery after you left Iowa?"
Realization came across Sam's face. She grimaced and tried to get Elizabeth off of her, but Elizabeth had Sam firmly in place. "I don't know what mean?"
"You can wear a wig all you like, but I remember your tawdry face at my home trying to kill me to take my son. You said you had to get Jason's son back to him, and you were going to kill me to do it, and you said Jason's name in that pathetic, whiny, simpleton nasal voice devoid of intelligence just how you said it Jason now. Face it, Angela, Sam or whatever name you go by, you're caught." Elizabeth slammed her against the wall one more time for good measure.
"Is that true, Sam? Did you attack Elizabeth and try to take Cameron away from her?" Jason said astonished. He knew she was lying about the money and framing Elizabeth, but to attack her and take his son in violent manner was more than he comprehend at the moment. 'How could he have been with a woman like that?' It all came back to him. Sam said she had to go out of town to take care of something for her brother, and when she came back she had bruises. She said that she'd been to a kickboxing class and it had gotten carried away. Who was this woman that he lived with?'
"So I take it you're in a relationship with this… woman Jason?" Elizabeth asked.
"Not anymore I'm not," Jason said heartbroken and detached.
Elizabeth walked over to Jason and whispered, "This is why I sent Cameron away. There's too many people that are close to you and my father that are danger to him,"
Jason looked down at Elizabeth, he could only nod in understanding. "I will help give you any information I have on Ric. It isn't much. We were never close, but after he raped me, well let's just say that I put all my effort into not being in his presence."
"He raped you?" Carly asked, "But I thought he's your uncle."
"He didn't know or care about that at the time," Elizabeth said.
Sam slowly stood up, "How could he be your uncle? He said you were obsessed with him?"
"He's my half-uncle because Sonny's my father," Elizabeth said, "Are there any more intrusive questions that I can answer for you?"
"I think that'll be all on that subject for now," Sonny said picking up the phone. "Max can you come in here?"
Max came through the living room, "Max, I need you to escort Ms. McCall off the property and take her to a safe house. Make sure she's stripped of any communication devices and make sure that she can't leave. She is to no longer be trusted," Sonny said.
"No, no, you can't do this," Sam screamed.
"Get her out of my sight," Jason said uncaring.
"I've had lunch made in the dining room. Let's talk about strategy for keeping you safe and we'll go from there," Sonny said hoping to ease some of the tension.
Elizabeth reluctantly nodded.
Carly followed.
Sonny looked at Jason, "I'm sorry man. Sam becoming a part your life was my fault. I can't tell you how sorry I am. I will let you decide what needs to happen to Sam."
Jason just nodded. He was sick about this turn of events. How could he fall for Sam's lies. Now that Elizabeth new that he'd been with Sam, how would she ever forgive him. It was just another slap in the face. Elizabeth had been pushed aside by both her father and her husband for a con-woman who framed her and tried to kill her. Jason prayed that Elizabeth could be as forgiving as Justus believed her to be. Jason had no clue how to reach her now, but he would try.
