Pokemon Virus Version: HaruSakiMura

Here, we return to the location of where a recent battle took place. It was a fair battle with high stakes, with even greater stakes being waged as the battle progressed. The end result was the power of darkness ultimately emerging victorious…

'But the whispers…they remain…'

In the middle of this deserted plateau was a lone deserted Reaper's Cloth.

'Hehehehehe.'

The Reaper was thought to have been driven to Hell, never to return. But under the dark cloudy sky, a portal of darkness appeared. Emerging from the portal was the Reaper, Dusknoir.

'Death cannot be killed.'

The whispers of the apocalypse were hungrier than ever for the darkness displayed by the boy in the Realm Between – Darkness Grade 2.

Dusknoir's goal of killing Seth remained…

Elsewhere, Commander 06 Beatrice stood at the edge of a cliff overlooking a meadow, looking at rays of golden sunshine peaking through the clouds. Her long white duster and cherrywood hair blew gently.

"…"

Her sword, Gallade, was let out of his Pokeball and was standing next to her.

"…"

Taking their attention off the meadow, was the sound of rapidly flapping wings. Volbeat and Illumise.

"Lady Beatrice, good day."

"Good day, Lady Beatrice."

The fireflies accompanied Commander 15 Bastion, who made his way to the foot of the mountain.

Lady Beatrice turned around only to see that Rose wasn't with them. She sighed. "How was it?"

"It was the first time I'd seen 26 since she left the organization." 15 replied, "She was surrounded by friends such as the Pokemon Ranger you mentioned fighting before."

Lady Beatrice nodded.

"But there was also a young man claiming to be 26's brother."

"Hm?" This peaks Lady Beatrice's interest. "Tell me more."

"26's brother and the Pokemon Ranger have virus powers. The boy in particular was able to achieve a new grade of virus power. I refrained from using my own virus power in order to gauge the strength of Darkness Grade 2."

"I see," Lady Beatrice said, "I did the same thing when I fought the Pokemon Ranger."

"When should we make our move?" Bastion asked.

"Not yet. I would like to gain more information on this Darkness Grade 2 so that we know what we're up against." Lady Beatrice then looked to Gallade, who'd been silent up until this point.

"…" He looked at Beatrice, who gave him a single nod. "Hmph." Gallade held his sword up to the sky and launched a pillar of Psychic energy that could be seen miles away.

This was a signal. And at this signal, three grunts appeared before Beatrice. Two males and one female.

"Haru. Saki. Mura." Lady Beatrice addressed.

"Yes Ma'am." They all bowed.

Out of all the grunts under Beatrice's command, Haru, Saki, and Mura were the most decorated. Beatrice could count on them making Admin or Commander some day.

"I need you three to keep an eye on Rose." Lady Beatrice announced.

"You mean Commander 26?" Haru asked.

Lady Beatrice nodded. "The goal isn't to defeat them, but to gauge their strength. To bring Rose here would be an exceptional job well done, but…"

"But what?" Mura questioned.

"The town of Troia lies on the other side of this meadow. Rose and her friends still have a ways to go before they reach this point in their journey. You'll cross paths quicker if you double back. But my ultimate goal is to confront Rose when she's made it to Troia."

"Alright!" Haru is a hyperactive young man with a habit of getting ahead of himself. He had dark brown spiky hair, and wore teal goggles on his forehead. He wore a red jacket, blue pants, and black boots.

"We will carry out your wish, Ma'am." Saki was the self-proclaimed leader of the group. He is introverted, but his ego often clashes with Haru. He is also a closet pervert. Saki has gray hair going down to his neck. He wears a beige vest over a black long sleeve shirt. He wears black pants and black boots.

"We won't let you down." Mura was a beautiful green haired girl who admittedly had a bad habit of nagging. Haru has a crush on Mura which goes unreciprocated as Mura tries to keep the boys in line.

These three make up Commander 06's star group known as HaruSakiMura, and despite their vivid characters and over-the-top shenanigans, they show great promise.

They now search for Rose and her group.

"Ur."

Being carried on the back of Ursaring, Seth has been in comatose for about two weeks now.

'When will he wake up?' Chapel and Yumi both ponder to themselves.

The girls had yet to answer, but what did Rose think of her brother's comatose? Rose had been preoccupied caring for her Pokemon Egg this entire time.

"I am still waiting for you to hatch, my child." Rose smiled warmly as she held the Egg close.

"Chi." Chikorita watched Rose care for the Egg with envy.

Chapel and Yumi didn't know it, but Rose intentionally allowed for her Brother's presence to slip from her mind. From Seth's comatose, to almost dying of Pneumonia, to the trek through Lost Labyrinth. Following her near-death ordeals, Rose just went back to caring for her Egg.

Chapel sighed, deciding to not ask Rose the question. She instead focused to what was ahead. The group was traversing through wetland vegetation. The ground was wet and there were swamp pits everywhere. The girls were careful to avoid areas that appeared too muddy.

"How long until we make it to Troia?" Yumi asked.

"We've still got a long way to go." Chapel answered. "Once we make it through this marsh."

Yumi sighed, "We've been on the road forever. Do you think we would've been better off going west after staying in Mahogany Town? We could've gone to my house in Olivine."

"Ecruteak City is a hotbed of Neo Snagem members. Seth and I tried to help free the city, but we failed…" Chapel answered, "Those people know our faces. Showing up, even just to pass through, would mean trouble which could ultimately end our journey."

Yumi sighed again. She just wanted to sleep in an actual bed for once.

Chapel looked back to Yumi, "I want to pamper myself just as bad as you. The faster we get to Troia, the faster we can enjoy some much needed rest."

Watching Yumi, Chapel, and Rose from afar was HaruSakiMura.

Haru groans, "Damn it, I hate these wetlands. Why couldn't we wait until they got past this overgrown mudhole?"

"Stop complaining, you loser." Saki was annoyed, prompting him to belittle Haru.

"What did you say? I dare you to say that to my face!" Haru clenched his fist and was ready to fight his partner.

Saki shrugged.

"Don't give me that attitude! You try playing Mr. Cool all the time, but I know I can beat you!" Haru's fist turned into a finger pointing at Saki.

"Say that again, loser."

"Shut up!" Mura interjected. "You're both getting on my nerves, like always." She then turned to Saki. "Give us our itinerary already."

Saki nodded, "Lady Beatrice wants us to gauge the strength of the Pokemon Ranger and 26's brother. However, I think that going above and beyond will get us in boss's good graces."

"What do you mean?" Mura asked.

"Commander Atticus would surely promote us to Admin on the spot if we bring 26 back to him." Saki then motioned to Ursaring. "You see the unconscious boy there?"

"The one riding Ursaring?" Haru questioned.

"He's the one with Darkness Grade 2 that Lord Bastion was talking about. Our goal is to gauge his strength, but him still being in a comatose will actually make it easier to retrieve 26." Haru explained. "We would just have to defeat the Pokemon Ranger."

"There's another girl travelling with them too." Mura was referring to Yumi, who wasn't mentioned by Lady Beatrice or Lord Bastion.

"If she was a threat, Lord Bastion would've acknowledged her ability enough to give us a briefing." Saki viewed Yumi as no threat whatsoever. "Before we confront them, an opening act is needed."

Saki took out a Pokeball and threw it in the air. Out came an Onix that was great in size.

"Rrroooo…" Onix was ready to carry out any of Saki's commands.

"Go give our guests a fight to remember."

"Rrr…" Onix looked at the group ahead, then gave Saki a nod. "Rrrrr…." Onix then dug underground and began his pursuit.

Saki turned to Haru and Mura, "If they're able to defeat Onix, we'll confront the group. Then, the real fight will begin."

"Urr." As Ursaring walked ahead, he passed Rose.

"…" At this, Rose gave a passing glance to Ursaring…and her Brother who was in Ursaring's tow.

"He won't be in a comatose forever, you know," said Banette, who was walking beside Rose."

Rose knew this, but she still questioned how she can face her brother after he fully embraced the darkness. She'd told Seth time and again to not give in to his dark power. She didn't want to lose her dearly beloved.

"He is hardheaded." This was all Rose had to say on the matter, before giving extra focus on her Egg. "No matter what happens, I will keep you safe."

Rose became so focused on using the Egg as an excuse to push out any thoughts of her brother again that she became unaware of her surroundings.

"Rose!" Chapel called Rose's name.

"Hm?" Rose looked to the girls ahead of her. Chapel and Yumi both looked alarmed. Why?

"Rose, watch where you're walking." Yumi pointed to what lied below Rose's feet.

Rose looked down, and was alarmed by what she saw. "Hm?" She was in a mud pit…a sinking mud pit. "Ngh." Rose calmly tried to take a step forward, but it was no use. "What?" The sinking mud pit wasn't letting her move forward. Rose's ladylike demeanor showed signs of cracking as she rustled her feet with slight panic. "What is going on?" Her movements had her sinking at an even greater rate. "WHAT IS GOING ON?!" Rose was starting to become overcome by her emotions. This mud pit was about to drag her down and drown her!

"Mm!" Just then, it looked as though two arms reached out and grabbed Rose by the boots, sinking her even faster.

"Is that a Pokemon?" Chapel and Yumi, upon seeing this, tried rushing to Rose's aid. Not even a few steps in, they were stopped in their tracks as the ground beneath them started shaking violently.

The quake sent Yumi to the ground.

"An Earthquake?" Chapel questioned.

The ground before Chapel and Yumi cracked. This gave way to a fault as a Pokemon emerged from underground.

"Grawwwwrrr!" Emerging from the wetland ground was a giant Onix who eyed Chapel. This was the Pokemon Ranger he was instructed to do battle with.

Yumi rises to her feet. She watched as Rose completely sunk into the mud pit before her view was obstructed by Onix's body, "We'll need to defeat Onix before we can rescue Rose." She rose to her feet.

"Ursaring?" Chapel looked to Ursaring.

Ursaring nodded in understanding. He placed Seth's body some distance away before stepping up in front of Chapel, ready to battle the giant snake.

'Is this a wild Onix?' Chapel thought to herself. 'It looks formidable, but we can't lose here. We must rescue Rose.'

Underneath the surface of the wetlands, the Pokemon Egg was being wrapped by the arms of Rose…and Rose was being wrapped by the arms of something bigger.

"Hrm." This bigger something freed Rose from its grasp.

"…" Underwater, Rose opened her eyes, and was disturbed by the giant blue frog which floated before her.

Seismetoad…

Rose didn't know it, but her sinking into the mud pit was no accident. The reason why she was unable to escape was because of Seismetoad. This…was a calculated attack.

"Are you sure Onix alone can take on the group?" Mura asked.

"Onix isn't alone." Saki answered, "I'd also instructed Onix to get some help from powerful Pokemon who reside in these wetlands. The request is simple: Keep 26 away from the battle."

"I guess Seismetoad was the lucky Pokemon." Haru had an eagle's eye, being able to see the sneaky Seismetoad from that great a distance.

"Lord Bastion mentioned how protective 26 was of her Egg," Mura said, "Catching Rose with the Egg in tow will guarantee she doesn't get too aggressive from fear of it getting damaged by enemy hands."

"In other words: We have this group right where we want them." Saki blinked as he observed the battle that was about to ensue with Onix.

"Graaawwwrrrr!" Onix prepares to slam its tail on Ursaring, everyone else in its path as well.

"Get out the way!"

Hurriedly, everyone gets out the way. Onix's Slam into the wetlands emits another swift quake into the ground. Water is sent flying in every direction.

"Hm?" While in the rain, Chapel and Yumi take a closer look at Onix. "What's going on?"

"Onix doesn't seem at all bothered by the water." Yumi noted.

"But how? Why?" Chapel asked.

"So, why did you choose Onix to battle in the wetlands?" Haru turned to Saki with a question. "It seems like a dumb idea."

"You're the moron, loser." Saki remarked.

"What was that?!" Haru clenched his fist and gritted his teeth.

"Did you already forget that Onix travelled underground to get to the Pokemon Ranger?" Saki questioned, "The underground wetlands are filled with wet dirt. Said wet dirt will cover Onix in a coating of mud which will naturally ease the burden of water."

"Really?" Haru asked.

Mura put her hands on her hips, "You have no idea what Saki's talking about, do you?"

"I-I do!" Haru stammered, "I had the answer! Saki just said it before I could!"

"Right." Saki and Mura both roll their eyes.

"Graawwwrrrr!" Onix roars as he starts burrowing underground, leaving the earth quaking in its wake.

Chapel had to put forth some effort to keep her balance. Once the quaking stopped, she looked around, hoping to find some sort of shift in the ground's structure. "Nothing…" Wherever the ground shifted was where Onix currently was. But this Onix was stealthy. "Everyone!"

Ursaring, Yumi, Chikorita, and Banette all looked to Chapel.

"Brace yourselves. Onix can't be tracked underground right now. This means we have no way of knowing where he'll surface."

Or did they?

As if on cue, the ground below everyone started shaking.

Chapel closed her eyes and listened for the first major movement.

'Grawrrr…' Onix's heavy voice could be heard as he approached the surface.

Chapel opened her eyes, "Now!" This was the cue to take evasive action.

"Rr!" Ursaring and Chapel were able to dodge roll out of the way.

"Chi!" But Chikorita and Yumi weren't as fortunate, as they were sent flying.

"Yumi! Chikorita!" Chapel called out in worry.

"Don't worry!" Banette hops into the air and retrieves Yumi.

"Huh?" Yumi was expecting to collide with the ground, and was surprised Banette was carrying her bridal style. Yumi smiled, "Thank you, Banette!"

Banette gave Yumi a nod and a warm smile as she gently descended to the ground.

"Chi…!" Chikorita was spared from damage by landing on a lilypad which stood on the surface of muddy water.

"Grawwwrrrr!" Yumi and Chikorita's rescues happened in only an instant. Meanwhile, Onix was in the air and ready to land. "GRAAAWWWWRRRR!" Onix aimed for Chapel and Ursaring as he intended to crater them into the ground.

Chapel's eyes went wide. There was no stopping Onix from crushing her!

"Rr! Urrrgh!" Ursaring took a step forward and held his hands in front of him. This summoned forth a large barrier that was green in color.

Chapel immediately regained her composure as the green barrier surrounded both Ursaring and herself. "Protect…" It was as if time slowed for Chapel as Onix descended. She shifted her gaze from Portect, to the falling Onix, down to her belt, where her Capture Styler was. "I can end the battle now!"

"GRAAWWWRR!" Onix collided with Protect.

"Rrrgh…!" Onix's sheer mass had Ursaring wincing. For a split second, his legs looked ready to falter in the struggle.

"Ursaring, I need you to cease Protect very slowly!" Chapel aimed her Capture Styler at Onix, "One the barrier dissipates, I'm going to Capture Onix!

Ursaring was struggling to hold the weight of Onix. It took great energy to keep Protect from dissipating too quickly. It was akin to doing pushups in a slow manner when your arms are about to give out. Nevertheless, Ursaring trusted Chapel's judgement, as well as her ability to keep Onix from crushing them. "Urgh…" Slowly, Protect started receding.

Ursaring made sure to recede Protect from the ground up, rather than the center of the barrier. This allow him and Chapel only a second to get out the way.

"Graww!" Once Protect completely broke, Onix crashed into the ground, sending muddy water into the air.

"Alright!" Chapel aims her Capture Styler, "Capture, On!"

An orb of light was launched. Chapel used her Styler to rotate the light around Onix.

"Rr." Urasring watched as Chapel's strategy worked. Though it was too early to get complacent and celebrate, Ursaring was proud of his trainer.

"Now!" Chapel directed the light to make contact with Onix. Upon contact, Onix's entire being momentarily glowed white aura.

"Gwar…" Onix's aggressive facial expression grew soft, and his demeanor calmed down. He remained on the muddy ground, performing no action.

"I Captured Onix?" Chapel questioned.

Yumi, Chikorita, and Banette all smiled.

It seemed as though the battle was done, but the question remained: When would Haru, Saki, and Mura step forth to confront the group?

Ursaring, sensing the end of the fight, put his hands on his knees as he gathered his breath.

"Chapel!" Yumi, Chikorita, and Banette all approached Chapel. "You did it!"

"Chicori!"

Chapel looked to her friends and smiled. She then approached Onix.

"…" Onix had yet to get up after being Captured.

Chapel knew what she was going to do. She was going to have Onix look for Rose underground, hoping she would still be near despite being pulled through a pit of mud. Once Rose was found, they would continue on with their journey.

"…" Chapel was prepared to do whatever it took to find her friend…but fate had other plans. "Rrr!"

Chapel flinched.

Onix stirred from the ground, roaring into the sky. "Grawwwwwrrrrr!" He swung his large tail at Chapel.

"Woah!" Chapel ducked, but the force of the tail swing created a gust of wind that sent Chapel backpedaling a bit.

"Grawwwrrr!"

"What's going on?" Yumi asked.

"The Capture failed!" Banette answered.

"But how?"

Chapel narrowed her eyes, "This Onix belongs to someone." Chapel's Capture Styler has never failed. Coming to the conclusion that Onix belonged to someone was just common sense. "From Onix's ambush to Rose in particular being dragged down under, this battle is too coordinated to be a simple encounter."

Onix slammed its tail on the ground, launching many wet rocks in the air. The rocks were all headed straight for Chapel and Ursaring.

"Rrr!"

Ursaring and Chapel both took evasive action to avoid Onix's Rock Slide.

"Rgh!" Ursaring used pure power to obliterate the rocks one by one.

Meanwhile, Chapel ran across the lilypads on the water, a landslide of falling rocks following close behind. "But if this Onix does belong to someone, where could they be?" Chapel eventually stepped on a lilypad that immediately gave out. She would've fallen in the water if not for her quick reaction time, as she jumped back onto a rocky ridge which led back to land. "Ngh." She pulled herself up, using the ensuing next few seconds to catch her breath.

"Gwarrr!" But Onix wasn't about to give her that luxury, as it readied its tail to swing at Chapel once more.

"Gah!" Chapel tried getting up, but tripped. She was a sitting duck.

"Chapel!" Chapel would've gotten hit, but it was Yumi who tackled her out of the way.

Once again, Onix missed its attack.

Chikorita, Ursaring, and Banette are relieved to see Chapel wasn't hurt.

Yumi rose to her knees, asking Chapel if she was okay, "Are you alright?"

"Thank you Yumi," Chapel was breathing heavily, "You're a lifesaver."

Yumi then rose all the way to her feet and stepped forward, "Now it's my turn."

"You're going to fight Onix now?" Chapel assumed that Yumi would send out Servine, as Braixen wasn't the best of matchups and Umbreon was neutral. "But Servine still won't listen to you."

Yumi closed her eyes and took out a single Pokeball. "I'm not using Servine, Braixen, or Umbreon."

Flashback…

"Pokeball, Snag it!" Yumi thought back to when she used a Snag Machine to snag a burning Gligar.

It was as if a hand reached out and grabbed Gligar, forcing him into the Pokeball. The Pokeball clicked shut, indicating that Gligar had just been snagged.

End Flashback…

Of course, Gligar had evolved since then.

"I choose you!" Yumi tossed her Pokeball.

When the Pokeball opened, Gliscor appeared standing on the ground. "…" He opened his eyes slowly.

"Gliscor?" Chapel questioned.

"Chico?"

"I never knew Yumi had a Gliscor…" Banette wasn't there to witness Gliscor's fights in Lost Labyrinth.

Let's see what Yumi has up her sleeve.

"Gliscor, use Night Slash!"

"Scor!"

Onix tried to use his tail to sweep Gliscor from his feet, but Gliscor launched himself into the air just in time. Glliscor then cloaked his claws in a dark purple aura.

"Ngh..."

Gliscor had landed Night Slash on Onix. However, there was very little recoil.

"Gliscor, keep it up!"

Gliscor kept his claws cloaked in Night Slash's aura. Onix wasn't about to let Gliscor hit him again, so he lifted his tail and pursued Gliscor in hopes to Slam him.

Gliscor flew to the left to avoid Onix's tail, and then to the right. Onix then tried to follow Gliscor's movements with his tail. To this, Gliscor did multiple aerial backflips in succession before flying straight at Onix and landing another Night Slash. Again, there wasn't much recoil.

Onix was a Pokemon with great defensive capabilities, so it wasn't expected that Gliscor would defeat him in one major hit. Instead, Yumi wanted Glliscor to focus on landing small jabs that would eventually add up in damage. Onix kept in pursuit of Gliscor, actually landing a couple of hits as Gliscor continued evasive action. But for every hit Onix landed, Gliscor landed ten more.

"Scor!"

Eventually, Gliscor caused for Onix to recoil as he struck the rock snake in the back of the neck.

"Gwarr!" Onix had to keep himself from falling over.

"Scor." Gliscor smiled. That particular Night Slash was a critical hit.

"Gliscor, use Sand Tomb!" Yumi called.

"Sand Tomb?" Chapel questioned.

Gliscor avoided Onix's tail sweep one more time before diving onto the ground immediately next to the Rock Type. Gliscor readied his claws.

"Wait! Gliscor! Don't!" Chapel called.

"Hm?" Yumi looked to Chapel in confusion.

"Scor!" But it was too late. Gliscor had dug his claws into the ground, destroying its foundation.

"Gwarr!" Onix roared as the tomb of sand was created and kept him inside.

Gliscor launched himself back into the air and watched as Onix struggled in the pit of sand.

"Yumi." Chapel lowered her voice and addressed Yumi in an exasperated tone.

"What's wrong?" Yumi asked. "Sand Tomb seems to really bother you."

"Yumi, Onix is a Pokemon capable of traveling underground." Chapel explained, "Being caught in Sand Tomb will only give Onix the chance to conceal himself and caught us off guard!"

Yumi drooped, looking as Onix was completely dragged underground. Then, in typical 'Yumi' fashion, she finds something positive in this predicament. She lights up, "But when Onix resurfaces, he won't be able to react as quickly to an attack. We could use this as an opportunity for a pre-emptive strike."

Chapel blinked, having not realized this. She gave Yumi a playful hug as she said, "I so proud of you, Yumi!"

Yumi giggled before calling Gliscor, "Gliscor, ready Guillotine! Wait for when Onix comes back up!"

"Scor!" Gliscor cloaked his claws in the white aura of Guillotine, waiting just as Yumi said.

Yumi, Chapel, Ursaring, and Chikorita all brace themselves. The ground begins shaking violently, indicating Onix's incoming charge.

"GWARR!" Onix came roaring from the underground. Yumi, Ursaring, and Chikorita were able to avoid Dig. Chapel, meanwhile, was caught directly in Onix's path. She grabbed on to the pillar on Onix's head and held tight. She watched as Gliscor was headed in their direction with Guillotine.

"Scor!"

Chapel hastily ran down Onix's snake-like body like a flight of stairs.

"Scor!"

"Gwa...?"

It was as if time halted when Gliscor struck Onix straight on the head. The foes stood motionless, with Gliscor waiting for any confirmation of his victory.

"That's it. We've won!" Yumi was confident.

"..."

Just then, the eyes of Onix moved ever so slightly. This was easy to miss.

"Gli?!" But Gliscor was up close and able to see Onix's change in facial expression in full.

"GWARR!" Onix roared into the sky, still able to fight.

"Did Guillotine not work?!" Chapel questioned, "But how?"

There was only one way to know for sure. With her teeth gritted, Yumi took out her Pokedex and scanned Onix.

Onix, the Rock Snake Pokemon:

Onix tunnels through the ground which shakes when it raises its thunderous roar. It can move the ground at 50 miles per hour.

Additional Information: This Pokemon's Ability is Sturdy, making the Pokemon unable to be defeated by one hit. Furthermore, Pokemon with this ability are completely unaffected by one-hit knockout moves.

Of course, out of all the Abilities in the world, Onix had to have Sturdy.

"GWARR!" As Onix continues to roar violently, he begins to glow a yellow aura.

"What...is going on?" Chapel was bewildered.

What exactly was Onix doing?

"Gli?" Gliscor was wondering the exact same thing.

Onix's roar could be heard from miles away. The skies from which his roar echoed started bringing in dark clouds. The muddy water that surrounded the battlefield began to swish violently.

"GWARR!"

Gliscor cloaked his claw in the aura of Night Slash and struck Onix repeatedly.

"GWARR!" It didn't appear as though Onix felt any of the damage received as it continued roaring. It was here that Onix started forming energy from his mouth.

Gliscor continued striking Onix, but still no use.

Chapel gritted her teeth and she said in a ghastly voice, "This is bad..."

Whatever it was that Onix was doing, there was no way to stop it.

The energy that Onix formed started growing in size.

"I've never known an Onix capable of using energy based moves..." Chapel remarked.

"But what kind of move is it?" Yumi asked.

The energy was so massive that stray rocks started gravitating toward it.

'This move has its own gravitational pull?!' Chapel turned to Yumi with alarm, "Yumi...we can't stop that attack! Tell Gliscor to get away from Onix!"

"Gliscor, fly away as fast as you can!" Yumi called.

Gliscor could sense the alarm in the girls' voices. He quickly launched himself from Onix...But Onix had already locked in on his target.

"GWARR!"

This...was known as Meteor Beam...

Onix launched Meteor Beam at the fleeing Gliscor. Even though Yumi, Chapel, Ursaring, and Chikorita weren't in the immediate path of Meteor Beam, they were blown off their feet by the force of the attack. Meteor Beam traveled along the ground, destroying everything in its path.

It didn't matter how fast or agile Gliscor was, Meteor Beam was so massive that it covered all potential dodging spots.

Everyone was unnerved at the damage Meteor Beam did. Gliscor had traveled to a distance where Yumi and the others couldn't directly see Meteor Beam make contact. But a huge explosion was caused.

"Chico!" The gust created by Meteor Beam's impact was enough to send Chikorita flying once more. Chikorita was caught by Yumi, who held her close.

When the explosion cleared, the full extent of Onix's attack was astounding. Meteor Beam...the land in its path was altered. A long fault was created in its wake. And at the end of the fault, there was a large crater where muddy water was flowing in like a waterfall. At the bottom of this crater was Gliscor.

"..."

Gliscor was not only unable to battle, but he was completely unconscious.

"Gliscor!" There was a considerable distance between Yumi and the crater where Gliscor lied.

"We need to recall Gliscor, Yumi." Chapel took it upon her self to do Yumi a favor as she took out a Pokeball.

"Skar!" Skarmory was released from his Pokeball.

Chapel gently pet Skarmory on the neck, "Skarmory, would it be possible to recall Gliscor for us?"

To this, Yumi took out Gliscor's Pokeball and handed it over to Skarmory, who went to retrieve the downed Pokemon.

"Gliscor will be okay," Chapel then turned to Onix, "His sacrifice won't be in vain. Just look at Onix."

"Grr..." Onix was breathing heavily and unable to move.

"What's going on?" Yumi asked.

"Any move as powerful as the one Onix used must come with drawbacks." Chapel answered, "That beam was so powerful that Onix exerted much of his energy...He hasn't moved since launching that attack."

Ursaring smirked, as he was the first to realize what this meant.

"Onix is wide open for an attack. And not just any attack. Why don't we use the most super effective move we have on hand?"

Chapel eyed Chikorita, who was still in Yumi's arms.

"I say we launch a beam of our own." Chapel smiled.

"So you want Chikorita to use Solarbeam?" Yumi asked.

"Onix's physical defense may be formidable, but its special defense is its biggest vulnerability."

"Chi..." Chikorita was surprised. Chapel and Yumi were both putting their complete trust in her to finish the battle.

Ursaring was in on the conversation too, and agreed with Chapel and Yumi.

Yumi put Chikorita on the ground. Chikorita took a few steps forward before giving the group one more glance.

"Chikorita, you can do this." Chapel assured.

Chikorita nodded.

"Grr..." The immobilized Onix could only watch as Chikorita walked forward. What was this small insignificant Pokemon capable of accomplishing?

"Chi..." Chikorita stood directly in front of Onix. Her leaf became enveloped in white aura.

Onix remained questioning Chikorita's ability.

"Grr..."

A pillar of light appeared in the sky, shining through the layers of dark clouds previously brought in by Meteor Beam. Particles of light traveled from the sky and through this pillar. These particles collectively gathered to where Chikorita was concentrating her energy. Solarbeam normally would've been ready in short order, but the dark clouds prolonged the process.

"Chi..."

In addition to this, Chikorita was gathering enough energy to finish Onix right there. The energy being concentrated by Chikorita began to grow in size. Neither she nor anybody else could afford dragging out this fight long enough for Onix to launch another Meteor Beam.

"This might be the largest Solarbeam I've seen Chikorita use..." Chapel was in awe. "This is it. Once Onix is defeated, we'll look for Rose."

"Chi!" And so, Chikorita was ready to launch Solarbeam. She prepared to point her leaf forward to launch her attack at point blank range.

...

...

...

But just as Chikorita was about to launch the finishing blow...

"Stop." A silver haired boy suddenly stepped in between Chikorita and Onix. "This Onix belongs to me." His name was Saki, and he wasn't friendly, "Congratulations, you've passed the first test."

To Be Continued...
