Chapter 2: David versus Goliath
"You're an asshole. I hope you realize that." I glare at the massive green cat. Meowscarada only gives me a smug smile as he wraps himself in the blanket, taking a nap. The bastard woke me up by jumping on my stomach. I'm no stranger to being woken up by cats in my old world. I used to live with my brother and had two cats who loved jumping on my stomach or sleeping on my face. The issue is how big Meowscarada is. Meowscarada is almost seventy pounds. I'm positive I'm going to have a nasty bruise.
But as much as I want to get angry at him, I know myself well enough to know I would sleep in. It wouldn't be an issue under normal circumstances, but considering I only paid for the night and needed to get ready for my journey, I needed to get up earlier than I was used to.
It doesn't mean that I'm happy to be bodyslammed first thing in the morning.
Thankfully, getting ready for my journey was a breeze thanks to the [Shop] and [Bag]. With the [Shop], I simply add what I want to order to my cart, push purchase, and a cardboard box with my order arrives in two seconds. Also, the variety of items the [Shop] has is incredible. I can buy food, Pokemon supplies, books, video games, and even vehicles. My [Bag] is also handy due to being bottomless and keeping food fresh.
However, I admit I went a little overboard with my spending. I can reason purchases like healing items, cookware, food, and seasoning, but I can't say the same for the Switch I bought and the solar-powered generator.
I even bought a camper van even though I already bought a camping tent. And, of course, I couldn't settle for the basic ones. I had to go with the luxury ones! Even though I say all this, I don't regret buying the camper. I refuse to shit in bushes. And my overspending didn't even leave a dent in my wallet!
But this could become an issue if I allow this to snowball into a habit. I may be rich now, but with no stable income, my wealth can dry up fast if I'm too reckless with my money. However, finding a job that allows me to travel will be difficult. I refuse to work a nine-to-five job while living in the Pokemon world.
I can think of three jobs that could work. The first is becoming an author by selling popular novels from my world and claiming them as my own. It's a scumbag move, but it would work. Of course, I have doubts that series like Harry Potter and Star Wars would be as successful here as they were in my old world, but I can see them becoming pop culture icons. It's mainly based on the fact Nintendo games exist in this world and are popular among all ages.
I almost choked on my breakfast when I saw an ad for Pikmin 4 on the TV.
The second job is riskier. And it's becoming a content creator.
Becoming a content creator requires a huge amount of luck to succeed, and it's far from stable. You could be the most viewed person on your chosen platform one year and fade into obscurity the next. Plus, the type of content I could make is limited. You can't exactly become a Let's Player on top of Mt. Coronet.
The third is becoming a professional Pokemon Trainer, possibly entering Pokemon Leagues with cash prizes. I have powerful Pokemon, so it's doable, but I have no idea how stable a career path like that is. I also can see myself quickly becoming bored with that career. And I'm not entirely comfortable with the idea of using my Pokemon to make money.
I will think of something soon. For now, I'm in no desperate need of money.
I also learned something interesting about the Gym Challenge thanks to the laptop I bought from the [Shop]. There is an online betting pool.
To some degree, it isn't that surprising. Galar treats its Pokemon League more like a sporting event, and people made bets on sports games like football and basketball all the time in my old world.
Here, people bet on how many badges a trainer will get and how many times they'll challenge the gym to earn it. They keep track of what Pokemon the trainers have. They even put spotlights on specific trainers.
The first trainer who is in the spotlight is, unsurprisingly, Hop. Hop is the younger brother of the undefeated champion, so people have high expectations of him.
The second trainer is Victor. Interestingly enough, the site has no mention of Victor's name. The sole reason why Victor is in the spotlight is because of a picture of Leon handing him and Hop their endorsement letters. I guess that shows how highly people think of Leon. Simply being endorsed by him causes you to be in the spotlight.
Third is Bede. God, he even looks cocky in his trainer card. Bede gets people's attention because he does not attempt to hide that Rose is endorsing him. And considering the fact the last person Rose endorsed was Leon, it makes sense why people are keeping a close eye on Bede.
Speaking of Rose, what should I do about him? Technically, it's my civic duty to stop Rose as his plan does risk the safety of Galar, its people, and potentially other regions. However, I have no way of proving what Rose is planning. And even if I could, I doubt people would believe me.
Rose is the chairman of Galar's Pokemon League and the president of Macro Cosmos, which powers almost all of Galar and countless other jobs in other business forms, such as TV, banks, transportation, housing, and media. The man is also an incredible Pokemon trainer who earned second place when he entered the Champion's Cup. To say the people of Galar look up to Rose as a hero and rely on him is no understatement. I wouldn't be surprised if people believe Rose's words over Leon's. So, expecting them to trust some random foreigner is the height of stupidity.
But on the positive side, I don't need to do anything to take of Rose. Hop and Victor are here. As long everything processes just as it did in the game, they will care for Rose for me. Yes, I may have potentially ended Team Yell before they started, but their role is incredibly minor. Rose's plan and Team Yell's existence aren't dependent on one another.
Another thing is that Spikemuth's golden girl is also in the spotlight.
I wasn't surprised Marnie's name is on the list. She is the younger sister of Piers, Spikemuth's gym leader, who reached the semi-finals in the Champion's Cup without using Dynamax. Team Yell might have helped Marnie's ranking, but it would be incorrect to say they're the sole reason for Marnie's popularity. Several women on the site said they are cheering Marnie because they want a female champion. Galar hasn't had a female champion for generations now. Some people find the reason for Marnie entering the Gym Challenge endearing. Several screenshots of a post, which I'm positive a Team Yell member made, litter the site. Though it doesn't matter who made the post, what matters is what's on it.
The post talks about how Marnie entered the Gym Challenge and aims to become Champion for Spikemuth. The online post also doesn't hide the horrible condition Spikemuth is in, showing several pictures of rundown buildings and streets filled with potholes. Trash littering the streets. Cracked windows. Several businesses shut down due to a lack of customers. The post spared no details in showing how rough Spikemuth has it.
If Marnin had become champion, I could see movie producers begging her for the rights to her story.
The last reason why people are following Marnie is because she's cute.
There's nothing inherently wrong with that reason. Being physically attractive can help you gain a following far better than any sympathetic story. The pure fact of Marnie having a pretty face and an endearing backstory helps her.
And it makes it all the more tragic knowing that she will never achieve her goal. Marnie loses to the player character in the semi-finals and becomes Spikemuth's gym leader after her brother retires. And Spikemuth will probably remain in its sad state for years, possibly generations, to come.
There were some other trainers people were talking about. It's mostly about people who had done well in the last Gym Challenge, but the consensus opinion is one of these four will most likely be the winner of the Gym Challenge and be allowed to enter the Champion Cup.
Another thing about the Gym Challenge I learned from my night of surfing the internet was who are the gym leaders, or rather who were the leaders.
Gordie was supposed to be Circhester's gym leader. However, he's unable to perform his duties now because he became injured when protecting Circhester and its civilians from a group of wild Darmanitans. Gordie is a skilled trainer and gym leader. Several people even believe that he will become a champion one day. But the man is still human. I can only imagine what he felt.
Thankfully, outside a broken arm and leg, Gordie is fine and will make a full recovery. The article also mentioned that Gordie was the one to suggest Melody take his place for the Gym Challenge. People were surprised by this as the two stopped talking after Gordie decided to be a Rock-Type trainer rather than an Ice-Type like how his mother wanted. However, I couldn't care less about gym policies. I'm more worried about the wild Darmanitan rampage.
The rampage happened yesterday midday, roughly the time I arrived in this world.
When I came to this world, did it have some effect on the wild Pokemon of the region? So far, there has been only this single incident, so I might be making connections where there are none. However, at the same time, I can't just brush this under the rug and forget about it.
For now, all I can do is wait and see what happens.
A knock on my door gets my attention. I open the door to see a staff member of the inn.
"Good morning, sir. I hate to disturb you, but check-out time will start soon. " the sharply dressed woman said.
"It's no issue. I was about to leave anyway." I said to the woman. I was planning to leave earlier, but the police closed down Route 3 until the Gym Challenge started.
I returned the room key to the front desk and headed to Route 3, taking my first step outside Motostoke, the first step into my journey in this strange, dangerous, but incredible world.
"Hey!" A voice behind me yells, causing me to turn around on impulse. I turned to see it was Victor calling me out. I also see Hop standing next to him, shaking his head in annoyance. As our eyes meet, Victor gives me a smirk as he raises a Pokeball. "I challenge you to a battle!"
{Marnie's P.O.V.}
"Thank you again, Marnie. I will pay you back when we get to Turrfield." Gloria said as we walked to Route 3. I wasn't planning to stay in Motostoke as long as I did, but Gloria wanted to buy some last-minute supplies. Sadly for her, everything has been sold out since yesterday. I pitted my rival Gym Challenger and gave her some of my spare potions and Pokeballs. Thankfully, Gloria has plenty of food, both human and Pokemon kind, and has camping gear, but we agreed to travel together until we reached Turrfield.
The Pokemon League has strongly suggested that new female trainers travel with other female trainers or trainers they can trust until they gain experience. And while I believe I can protect myself just fine, I can't say the same for Gloria.
The girl is naive, and I fear some questionable people might take advantage of that trait of hers.
As we approached Route 3, my ears picked up on some yelling. As we got closer, I saw that the yelling was coming from Hop's (I know his name despite him never telling me. He is the younger brother of the champion, after all.) friend. And he was yelling at the man from the lobby yesterday.
"Our eyes meet! It's in the trainer's code! When two Pokemon trainers' eyes meet in the wild, they have a Pokemon Battle!" the young man wearing the gray beanie yells.
"And I said I refuse the challenge. Besides, that is an unwritten rule. If Pokemon Trainers battle constantly, travel between routes would be impossible." the black-haired man in the suit said.
What is going on here?
Seeing as I would get no answers just by standing here and watching the scene play out, I decided to ask Hop what was happening.
"Excuse me, Hop, can you tell me what this is about?" I asked the dark-skinned youth, startling him a little. After a few seconds of looking at me, a look of clarity took over his face.
"Oh. Your name is Marnie, isn't it?" Hop asks, to which I nod. "Well, there isn't much else to say. My buddy and I were heading to Route 3. Victor saw the guy from the lobby yesterday and challenged him to a battle, and the guy didn't want to fight. They've been arguing like this for twenty minutes now."
"Shouldn't your friend understand that this guy doesn't want to battle after the first no? Some trainers only fight in gym battles or tournaments, after all." I said.
"Victor is stubborn. When we were kids, our mothers would tell us not to play in the forest, but Victor would always sneak off and play there. Tell the guy not to do something makes him want to do it even more." Hop sighs at his friend's behavior.
I turn to the arguing pair and take a deep breath. "Can you two just battle already? The guy in the beanie isn't giving up, so you might as well battle him and stop blocking the way!" I yell out at the two, causing them to turn. I may have lied a little. Gloria and I can walk around them, and we'll be fine, but I'm curious what kind of Pokemon the guy in the suit has.
"Yeah! Let's just battle Lobby Man!" Victor tosses his Pokeball into the air and catches it, smirking. It must be his version of a battle pose, a trend that started with Leon's champion time.
The man was about to argue again but instead sighed in resignation. "Fine. One battle, one-on-one. And that's it." The man said as he started making some distance between him and Victor for their battle. Victor cheers as he runs to the opposite side of the dirt path. "Also, I should tell you that my name isn't Lobby Man. It's Adam. Adam Gustav. Though it is my fault for not introducing myself earlier, so I will apologize for my lack of manners."
"Since we're sharing names, I'm Victor! Now, let's battle!" Victor throws his Pokeball. The ball opens and shoots a beam of white energy that quickly shatters to reveal Scorbunny, the little rabbit Pokemon jumping on the balls of his feet, ready to battle.
Scorbunny, one of Galar's starter Pokemon. Even though they're referred to as starter Pokemon, having one is extremely rare, and starter Pokemon tend to be stronger than most other Pokemon. Saying people wanted a region's starter Pokemon would be an understatement. And when considering Leon's ace Pokemon is a Charizard, the final evolution of Charmander, a Kanto starter, the demand for starters only grew.
Speaking of starter Pokemon, my eyes turn to Gloria. I can't believe this girl also has a starter. Yesterday, when she asked if it would be okay for her to let her Pokemon out of its ball, I thought it was something like a Yamper or a Nickit, not a Sobble!
All the more reason why I shouldn't let this girl travel alone for a while. If some scumbag doesn't attack her for her gender, it would be for her Pokemon. I heard people were willing to spend a lot for a starter Pokemon.
However, I wonder how Gloria obtained her starter. Hop and Victor got theirs through Leon, and it isn't surprising that Leon was able to get his hands on such rare Pokemon. But Gloria didn't have that option.
There are several possible answers, like her parents were once trainers who had gotten a starter themselves and gave Gloria an egg containing one. But until I hear the answer from Gloria herself, all it is just me making theories.
And we are not close enough for me to simply ask her. We had known each other for less than a day and a half.
"Why haven't you sent out your Pokemon yet?!" Victor's yelling snapped me out of my thoughts. Just as Victor said, instead of sending out his Pokemon, Adam was on his Rotom Phone (or at least I think it is a Rotom Phone. It looks very different from mine).
"I'm looking for a Pokemon for this battle. I'm not the type to hunt rabbits with a shotgun." Adam looks at the Scorbunny for a second. "Sorry. Bad analogy." Adam apologizes, most likely to the Pokemon itself.
"Excuse me. But what do you mean by hunting rabbits with a shotgun?" Gloria asks.
"If you hunt a rabbit with a shotgun, the rabbit will end up being torn to pieces because the gun used for the job was too powerful. Using one of my main Pokemon would be just like that." Adam explains while he's still scrolling on his phone. He must have his PC Boxes linked up with his phone.
"What was that?!" Both Victor and Scorbunny glared at Adam. "Bring out your main Pokemon! Don't you dare look down on me or my partner!" Victor's glare became even more heated than it was a second ago. However, I would be if I was in his position. The act of looking down on a fellow trainer is heavily frowned upon.
Even the little Scorbunny is hopping in anger, showing off its Fire-Type nature by shooting little embers in rage.
Adam seemed he was to say something but stopped and sighed, fixing his glasses. Adam pockets his phone and grabs a shrunken Pokeball from his belt. "Are you sure you want this? Because I don't want to be the reason for you giving up your Gym Challenge."
Victor's face turns red in anger. "Just throw the damn ball already!" As if on Victor's command, Adam threw the Pokeball straight up into the air, causing the Pokemon from within it to be released, an-
Hot.
That was what went through my mind.
A burst of unforgiving heat rolled over me. It went from slightly chilled autumn weather to peak summer heat in two seconds. It felt like the temperature jumped twenty degrees Celsius. At least.
I look up at the cause of the sudden temperature spike, seeing what looks like a Bug-Type Pokemon gently flapping its wings.
The Pokemon let out a loud screech as fire danced around its body. The nearby grass turned to ash from the sheer heat of the flames.
"W-What the hell is that?!" Victor screams as he pulls out his Rotom Phone, with Hop and Gloria copying him. I look at Gloria's Rotom Phone to see her opening an app on her phone, a Pokedex App.
Not only does she have a starter, but also a Pokedex! Only the people the region's professor acknowledges as a trainer with potential can have one! How did Gloria end up with two things most trainers can only dream of?!
"Pokemon not found?!" Victor shouts, and just as he said, Gloria's Pokedex App also says unknown Pokemon.
"Not surprising. Volcarona can only be found on the Isle of Armor in Galar, though this one is from Paldea." The Isle of Armor? Isn't that where Leon trained before becoming the undefeated champion? Isn't that also where he got his Charmadar? Also, what is Paldea?
It feels like the space around me is spinning. I don't know if the heat was the cause of it or if my brain was melting from what I'm hearing.
"I will give you a brief explanation of what Volcarona is. It's a fire and bug-type Pokemon. Volcaronas are referred to in the Pokedex as the Sun Pokemon. Volcaronas is named that because when volcanoes erupt and cover the sky in ash, Volcarona's fire can act as a second sun. People of the past even called it The Rage of the Sun." Adam explains as if he was talking about the weather. "So, shall we continue?"
The little rabbit Pokemon looked up at the flaming bug Pokemon, its eyes wide and jaw dropped.
Now I understand what he meant.
He wasn't looking down at Victor. It's just his Pokemon are simply too strong.
Nobody makes a move. It is almost as if time has paused. I might have believed that time had simply stopped if it wasn't for the sweat rolling down my cheek or my deafening heartbeat.
Scorbunny let out a scream of pure terror as he ran back to Motostoke, tripping due to his panic but quickly climbing back up and running away.
"Scorbunny!" Victor gives chase after his fleeing Pokemon. Hop watches his friend run after his Pokemon, looking back and forth between Adam and Victor, his expression a mixture of shock, bewilderment, and confusion. After what felt like minutes, Hop turns around and chases after his friend and Pokemon, leaving just Gloria, Adam, and me.
As I watched Adam recall the fiery Pokemon back to its ball, the question I had been asking myself last night returned to my mind.
Just who in the world is Adam Gustav?
{Sordward's P.O.V.}
I grumble to myself as I dry the little sweat from my face. Whatever my brother needs to tell me, it better be major to interpret my morning exercise. I can't stand to miss my morning tennis practice. It feels like I can't get the day started without completing it.
I open the door to my younger brother's study, seeing him going through stacks among stacks of papers requesting our presence. Life isn't easy for celebrities like us. So many commoners want to be in our good graces. Not that I can blame them.
I, too, would want to be looked at fondly by the royal heirs of Galar, the true faces of Galar, not Rose or Leon. Leon is a brute whose only talent lies in fighting. While his company greatly benefits Galar and, by extension, us, Rose is still a commoner born with a little more brain than his fellow commoner.
The fact that the public sees them as symbols of Galar when it should be us, the crowned princes, makes me sick.
"I'm here, Shielbert. What's so important that it can't wait until after my tennis practice?" I swear if this turns out to be another invite to another charity ball, I will resume my tennis exercise, but I will replace my tennis ball with his head.
Shielbert looks up from his papers, his annoyance clear on his face. "I got a call from one of our people that someone is researching The Darkest Day."
"Again? When will these plebeians learn to stop looking into the past?" I sigh in annoyance. "But I don't see why you want to discuss this with me. Just do what we always do. Give them a briefcase full of money or threaten their families until they agree to stop their research and publish our version of The Darkest Day. I'm going back to my workout."
"It won't work this time," Shielbert said, causing me to stop in place.
"And won't it, dear brother?" I question. We have been using this method for years and never had an issue. Even our father and grandfather used this method, and they lived their lives to completion without facing any setbacks. So, I don't see why we're having an issue now.
"The person who is researching The Darkest Day this time is Professor Magnolia's granddaughter," Shielbert answered.
Ah. That would be problematic.
If we were dealing with your typical commoner, kidnapping their children, lover, or parents would be enough to pursue them to our demands if our generous donation tactics didn't work. But you can't expect to kidnap the region's professor and cause some questions. And something tells me that Sonia wouldn't take bribes.
"This could be troublesome." I cup my chin as I think of a solution to our predicament.
If the truth of The Darkest Day gets out, things will end badly for my brother and me.
Shielbert and I know the truth behind The Darkest Day: Our ancestor wasn't the one who saved Galar.
We learned this from our father years ago. While our ancestor was crowned king after saving Galar from The Darkest Day, he wasn't the only one to be crowned king. And as expected, our ancestors didn't like the idea of there being two kings. Our father told us about how our ancestor poisoned the other king and spent his remaining years mudding the truth about The Darkest Day, a tradition that continues today.
Over three thousand years, the story went from two youths and two Pokemon to two youths, to a sole youth, our ancestor, nobly saving Galar with a sword and shield. A story of lies that our family has spent countless lifetimes and fortunes trying to protect.
And now, that story is being researched by Professor Magnolia's granddaughter, and if Magnolia's intelligence runs through her veins, she will realize the inconsistencies in the story.
If the truth gets out, it will ruin us. We will have to repay for everything. We'll lose our fortune, property, and assets because one girl decides to stick her nose somewhere it doesn't belong! We will lose our lifestyle! We will lose our delicious meals and all the luxuries we have grown accustomed to!
But the worst is us losing our protection from being royal blood. My brother and I have no shortage of enemies. And the police will be after us once the staff tells them what we do to them behind closed doors.
Shielbert and I tend to get close to the maids and female staff we employ.
My younger brother must be thinking the same thing as he knocked everything off his desk, cupping his head in his hands.
We can not allow Magnolia's granddaughter to succeed in uncovering what happened during The Darkest Day.
As my brother and I brainstormed for an answer to this situation, my eyes locked onto today's newspaper about Rose's Gym Challenge. I don't understand why Rose had put such importance into his foolish Gym Challenge. Yes, the Gym Challenge always brings in a lot of revenue, but it also welcomes all sorts of low-lif-
"That's it!" I yell, causing my brother to jump from his seat. I grab the newspaper from the floor and slam it on my brother's desk. "This is our answer, brother!"
"The Gym Challenge? How would that boorish event help us?!" Shielbert asked heatedly.
"Tell me, dear brother, how many Gym Challengers tend to go missing during this event?" Shielbert was about to yell at me again, only for his eyes to widen at the impactions of my question. "It would be such a shame if Professor Magnolia's granddaughter happens to become another statistic."
Shielbert smiled at me, but it was a smile filled with dark intentions. "Indeed it would. There is also the fact Magnolia's granddaughter doesn't have any assistants to help with her research, meaning all the fieldwork has to be done by her. And we both know how dangerous Galar can be, with wild Pokemon attacks and natural accidents." My brother breaks out into laughter. I take that as a sign that our meeting is over.
As I left my Shielbert's study, I pulled out my Rotom Phone to see what Professor Magonlia's granddaughter looked like. Yes. It would be a shame if something tragic happened to such a pretty face. Maybe I should convince my brother to lean more towards her disappearing instead of suffering from a tragic accident. We can always use more servants.
It's time to resume my morning exercise, though I have a different exercise in mind. Maybe Richeal, my tennis instructor, could help me. Some of the maids need some exercise, too.
Life is good when you're a prince, and I'll be damned if I allow some commoner to take my birthright from me.
{Bonus Scene}
{Danny's P.O.V.}
Pa hasn't returned. He has been gone for hours.
This morning, we found a bunch of our Wooloos and Dubwools killed and eaten by something. Pa found a trail of blood leading into the woods, believing that our herd was attacked by some wild Pokemon last night. After that, Pa grabbed his gun and took Lucky, our Boltund, to hunt down the Pokemon before it attacked what remained of the herd.
Something had happened to Pa and Lucky! They enter the woods at five in the morning! And now, it's almost nine! They have been gone for four hours!
Pa told me to stay home with Ma until he returns, but I can't wait anymore!
I sneak off with Pa's spare revolver and enter the woods. Pa would yell at me for taking his gun and leaving Ma alone, but I would rather be yelled at by Pa than stay at home while something happened to him.
Unfortunately, the blood trail crumbled away. I couldn't follow the trail, but I had played in these woods all my life! Nobody knows these woods better than me!
While I go through the woods, I notice something strange. It was quiet.
These woods shouldn't be quiet! These woods are full of wild Pokemon!
My grip on the gun tightens as I delve deeper into the woods.
"PA! LUCKY!" I cry out, hoping to hear Pa's curses or Lucky's bark, but there's only silence. My foot hit something hard. I cursed at the pain from stubbing my toe as I looked down to see what I just kicked, causing my stomach to sink. It was Pa's rifle! Or at least what I think was. The stock is burnt black, and the metal has melted.
"PA! PA!" I cry, holding my gun so tightly that my knuckles turn white. While I know my gun will probably do jack shit, it gives me a sense of comfort. I continue down my path, seeing several trees with burn spots and bullet holes. My feet stop when my eyes land on a gruesome sight.
"Oh, Lucky." My voice trembles when I see my Pokemon. I was hoping it was the remains of some wild Boltund, but there's no mistaking that worn-out leather collar. It was Lucky. Whatever killed Lucky tore out his stomach and two of his legs.
I fight back the tears as the gun in my hand starts to shake. I need to find Pa. Now.
Around here was an old pond Lucky and I used to swim in when we were younger. Tears well up in my eyes again from the memory of Lucky and what happened to him.
Don't cry! I can't cry until I know Pa is safe!
I pushed away the bushes in my way and saw something that turned my blood into ice.
It was Pa. Pa lay on his back, giving me a cold, blank stare as some creature was eating his stomach. It had a long neck like those Girafarigs I saw on TV, but way longer. But I don't care about what it looks like! This thing killed Pa and Lucky! It has eaten Lucky, and now it's eating Pa!
I scream in anger as I pull the trigger, firing at the bastard. I kept pulling the trigger until I heard the gun click, telling me it was out of ammo.
It didn't even leave a scratch on it.
The creature turned around and let out a low growl as I felt my hair stand up. I don't know what happened next. Maybe it was thanks to all my years playing with Lucky, but I managed to dodge a bolt of lightning that hit where I was standing.
Once I picked myself up, I bolted straight back home. I need to get Ma out here and call the police! They should be able to handle whatever that thing is!
I probably never ran faster as I made it back to the farm in record time, but I fell to my knees when I saw what happened to the farm and our house.
Everything is on fire.
"Ma," I mutter out. My eyes widened a second later. "MA!" I tried getting back up, but something tackled me and bit into my shoulder, causing me to cry out in pain.
All I saw it was blue.
Author's Note
I'm trying to make Shielbert and Sordward (God, their names are as bad as their hair) into actual threats because Sword and Shield need some proper bad guys.
Also, Paradox Pokemon are now in the picture. Speaking about Paradox Pokemon, would you all be interested in some OC Paradox Pokemon? Some people don't like the idea of OC Pokemon, so I want your opinion.
I'm also part of the SGO server, so if you want to join and chat, here is a link
