Chapter 28: The Dragons Arrival!

In the last chapter of "I Will Love You No Matter What":

'Am I…. too late?' Natsu thought before shaking his head and continued on walking.

'I have to focus on finishing it now!' Natsu thought as he hastened his pace through the city.

Normal POV

Natsu continued walking through the city until he reached the centre of it where he stopped. Why he stopped you may ask yourselves, well he stopped because he saw Erza right there, walking around slowly, using her sword as a makeshift cane.

"Erza!" Natsu called out as the scarlet haired mage instantly turned to him and sighed in relief.

"Natsu, you're okay." Erza said as Natsu gave her a smile.

"Of course I'm fine! I don't plan on getting beaten here." Natsu said and Erza smiled.

"Of course, and I saw your battle with Jura. Good work, Natsu." Erza complimented.

"Thanks, he was a tough opponent, but I managed to come out on top!" Natsu said as Erza smiled.

The black haired prince has definitely grown up from the loud and rash pink haired boy that had first stepped into the guild. And she was happy to have seen him grow.

Seconds later, Happy appeared from around the corner as he reverted to his Exceed form and flew over to Natsu.

"So, how are you feeling after that battle with Jura?" Happy asked as the Dragon Prince gave his partner a huge smile.

"It was absolutely amazing! I'm glad to have fought him again!" Natsu said happily as Gajeel also appeared with a smirk on his face.

The four of them then began to chat before Erza pointed something out.

"Wait, where's Laxus?" Erza asked and immediately after she had uttered those words, a bolt of lightning appeared beside her and seconds later Laxus stood up.

"Yo!" Laxus greeted his team with a smirk.

"So, you managed to defeat Orga?" Natsu asked and Laxus merely pointed to the monitor in response and they turned to look at the scoreboard.

1st place: Fairy Tail 75P (Leader + 4 normal)

2nd place: Sabertooth 55P (1 normal)

3rd place: Lamia Scale 35P (Knocked Out)

4th place: Mermaid Heel 35P (Knocked Out)

5th place: Blue Pegasus 29P (Knocked Out)

6th place: Quatro Puppies 9P (Knocked Out)

"And judging by the scores on the screen….." Erza started.

"Fairy Tail is the winner of the Grand Magic Games!" Chapati announced in an excited tone as the crowd cheered loudly at the news, some were even jumping about, and as the Fairy Tail members in the stands were crying tears of joy.

"After seven whole years, we finally did it!" Macao cried out happily, tears of joy falling from his eyes as he wrapped an arm around Wakaba's shoulder, who did the exact same thing.

"Natsu-nii! Everyone!" Romeo said happily as he turned to the current Master who was smiling proudly with small amount of tears falling from his eyes.

Meanwhile on the other side of the stands, Kei and her sister were overjoyed with the news, Sachi was already circling around them happily.

"Looks like Natsu was right about his flames not burning out." Leila said with a smile as Kei nodded her head as she giggled.

"That's just who he is, after all." Kei said before she realized something as she looked at the scoreboard.

Back at the Fairy Tail stands, Mavis looked on as she smiled happily at the news before she frowned.

"But, even if that's the case….."

"All's that's left is Sting. So we can't lose focus now." Natsu said and everyone nodded their head.

"Can you find him, Natsu?" Happy asked and just when Natsu was about to sniff out the White Dragon Slayer, someone called out nearby.

"You don't need to, I'm already here." Sting said as he came out from behind the group as they all turned to him.

"Sting…." Erza said as she held onto the hilt of her sword tightly, pointing it at Sting as the blonde from Sabertooth raised his hands up.

"Hey, I didn't come here to fight. I just came here to congratulate all of you for winning the Grand Magic Games, that's all." Sting said, but based on the tone he used, it wasn't just that, as Laxus growled at him.

"Now, why don't you quickly tell us why you're here? Like I'd ever believe you to come to us when we're all together just for that." Laxus said as Sting chuckled before he then disappeared and reappeared at a much further distance away from the group.

"Well, I did say that I didn't come here for a fight. What I really mean is, not yet anyways." Sting said as he turned towards Natsu.

"Are you feeling alright, Natsu? You look tired and exhausted Natsu." Sting said and Natsu merely shrugged.

"What can you do after facing Jura?" Natsu asked in a nonchalant tone as Sting chuckled.

"You know, I always admired all of you when I was younger. The mighty Fairy Tail guild and their strongest mages capable of defeating Fiore's strongest Dark Guilds." Sting said as he gave them all a wicked smile.

"That's why I plan on beating all five of you here and now! Your guild may have won the Grand Magic Games, but at the very least, I can defeat all of you and show the world that Sabertooth is the stronger guild all along!" Sting said as he shot past all of them at the speed of light, disappearing into the corner.

"Tch, what do we do now?" Laxus asked with a grunt as Natsu turned to Happy who sighed before taking off into the air.

"He may be able to go far, but Happy can provide us with a bird's eye view, he won't be able to escape, after all he has to stay within the city." Natsu said and with a nod, the four of them split up and walked towards the different parts of the city to look for Sting.

It was now night time as everyone were feeling exhausted, the toll of the matches were causing them to feel weary. However, they couldn't and didn't give up. They still had to find Sting.

It would have been easier to locate him, had he not been running around, evading all of them and the fact that the city was massive did not help as well.

Unknown to all of them, Sting was standing out on the open of what looks like a large plaza area with a smirk on his face as he held his arm out high, firing a beam of light into the night sky.

"I'm over here Fairy Tail! Come and get me!" Sting shouted loudly as everyone turned up and saw the blast before all of them made their way towards Sting.

It took them a while, but they finally managed to reach the plaza where Sting greeted them with wide arms.

"Welcome Natsu and Fairy Tail. This is where you'll all meet your defeat!" Sting said as Happy reverted to his Tenebrarum Eques form, growling at the blonde Dragon Slayer.

"We didn't come all the way here just for a chitchat." Happy said.

"We'll fight you and no matter what it takes, we'll beat you." Gajeel said as he turned his arm into an iron pole.

"Go ahead and have your pick, we'll face you one on one." Laxus said as Sting scoffed.

"Instead of a one on one, how about you five attack me at once, with those injuries you have, it'll boring to fight you all one by one." Sting said as Erza narrowed her eyes at him.

"Even though we may be injured, you should not underestimate us." Erza said as Sting shook his head.

"Not at all, I'm giving you all the recognition you deserve, that's why I'll defeat all of you at once! I've been waiting for so long! I'll show you my true strength!" Sting said with a serious look on his face as he was suddenly surrounded by a powerful white magical aura.

"Prepare to witness the power I gained when I lost Lector!" Sting said as the blonde then turned towards the five Fairy Tail mages and was expecting looks of fear on their faces, but to his shock, he saw all five of them standing proudly, none of them had fear shown, instead they had looks of determination. As if they weren't worried about the surge of magic emitted from him.

'H-how can they be so confident? They're all bruised up and beaten. They'd all probably fall over if I just attack them once…..So why I am hesitating?' Sting thought as the surge of magic suddenly died down confusing the Fairy Tail mages in front of him.

'No, why the hell am I wavering? All I need to do is beat them and Milady will hand over Lector again.' Sting then clenched his fists tightly.

'Yes, do it for Lector!' Lector's smiling face then appeared in Sting's mind as Natsu decided to walk over towards him.

"Can't do it, can you?" Natsu asked rhetorically as Sting growled at him.

"Shut up! You don't know me at all! I'll crush all of you like the puny fairies you are!" Sting roared out as Natsu continued on walking towards the White Dragon Slayer, unfazed by him.

"You said that you gained power since you lost Lector, what did you mean by that?" Natsu asked and Sting frowned as he looked down at the ground.

"Since the last day, the Master was upset with our defeat and tried to banish us from the guild, but Lector stood up for us. He did the one thing I had no guts to do, and because of that, the Master tried to kill him." Sting said as he clenched his fists tightly, tears brimming at the edge of his eyes at the memory.

"Lady Minerva managed to save him from the attack, but the only way to get him back was to help Sabertooth win the Grand Magic Games, but I was already too late with that. Now, he's gone forever because I couldn't save him." Sting said with a chuckle at the end as tears started falling from his eyes and the Fairy Tail were giving him looks of pity.

They understood the pain of losing someone important to them, first hand.

Natsu then chuckled as he kneeled down besides the kneeling White Dragon Slayer as he placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Are you sure that Lector's gone? Because, it definitely doesn't seem that way to me." Natsu said as he motioned for the blonde to look up and the White Dragon Slayer did exactly that and looked up, and what he saw caused his eyes to widen in shock, and in happiness.

In front of him was Millianna and she was carrying something, or better yet, someone. In her hands was none other than Lector. Sleeping peacefully, but more importantly, he was safe.

"L-Lector." The new Sabertooth guild master could feel tears forming at the edge of his eyes, but he didn't care, he took a small step forward before he immediately took off towards his Exceed, his partner, his friend.

"Lector!" Sting, somehow managed to trip himself and fell to the ground, but his shout managed to awaken the sleeping Exceed who slowly opened his eyes, and the first thing he could see was Sting.

"Sting!" Lector then wiggled his way out of Millianna's arms and ran towards the blonde.

Sting then opened his arms wide just in time as Lector jumped into his arms; Sting quickly wrapped his arms tightly around the red Exceed, as if scared that he might disappear if he were to let him go.

"Lector, you're here." Sting said happily as tears freely fell from his eyes, but he didn't care, he finally had his partner back.

The five Fairy Tail mages could only smile on as they watched the heart-warming scene in front of them.

Of course, the overused phrase will be used here,

"All good things must come to an end"

"Hey Sting." Natsu called out as Sting turned to the black haired prince who was in his battle stance.

"The Grand Magic Games isn't over for me until I defeat you or the other way round, so, what's it going to be?" Natsu asked with a smirk.

Sting then looked at his Exceed who looked at him with admiration and excitement, so he unwrapped his arms around him and got into a battle stance of his own.

"This time, I'll win, Natsu!" Sting said as he charged at the Dragon Prince.

The two then fought for a few minutes before Natsu managed to knock him out with his Dragon Slayer Secret Arts.

As soon as the match was over, Natsu dropped to the ground on his butt in exhaustion.

"Natsu, what were you thinking? Fighting Sting when you're already injured?" Erza reprimanded him as Natsu just smiled at her.

"It's fine, we still have plenty of time." Natsu said with a smile before his eyes widened in shock and horror as he quickly got up, surprising his teammates.

"What's wrong Salamander?" Gajeel asked, but Natsu ignored him as he started running, catching them off guard.

"Natsu!" they called out to him and Happy flew towards his partner.

"Natsu, what's wrong?" Happy asked worriedly.

"We need to evacuate everyone from the city now!" Natsu said, confusing Happy.

"From what? The city's not in any danger." Happy said as Natsu stopped running for a bit before explaining to his partner about the meeting he had with his mother.

"What?! The Dragon King Festival is starting today, and you didn't tell me?!" Happy asked, enraged that his partner didn't tell about it. If he did, they might have been able to successfully stall enough time for everyone to leave.

"It doesn't matter now, we have to go!" Natsu said as Happy nodded his head and grabbed his partner's back before they took off towards the exit of the stadium.

As soon as they arrived, Natsu spotted Kei who was leaning against the wall, so they quickly flew towards her. Kei then turned and noticed the two and waved her hand at them.

"Natsu! How are you feeling, also, sorry Happy but Sachi's with Leila right-"

"Kei!" Natsu said happily as he hugged her tightly, shocking the black haired female, but she quickly returned it.

"Natsu, what's wrong?" Kei asked worriedly, sensing the distress of her mate.

"Kei, you need to get out of here immediately!" Natsu said, confusing her.

"Why? What's happening?" Kei asked, worried by her mate's sudden frantic.

Natsu then told Kei everything about the dragons' arrival and the Dragon King Festival.

"Are you sure they're coming here, now?" Kei asked and Natsu nodded his head as Kei bit her lips.

'So that's why Leila is here, she must have realized something was about to happen.' Kei thought to herself before she shook her head.

"So what are we going to do?" Kei asked and Natsu looked around.

"We have to evacuate everyone before it's too late. We don't have much time, it's only a matter of time before they arrive." As soon as those words exited his mouth, the three felt a shockwave go off that caused them to be unbalance for a bit.

"What was that?" Kei asked as Natsu turned to the source of the shockwave, it was the same direction where he was feeling a huge amount of magical power coming from.

'The Eclipse Gate!' Natsu thought, recalling what Arcadios had told him the night before.

Natsu then turned to his partner.

"Happy, could you help Kei evacuate the citizens?" Natsu asked and Happy turned to him.

"Then what are YOU going to do?" Happy asked but Natsu didn't even turn to him, causing Happy to growl angrily at him.

"You can't be thinking about taking on the dragons by yourself, are you?" Happy asked but once again, Natsu didn't respond.

"Natsu, it's too dangerous, you're still exhausted from all of the fighting you've done, and you can't do it." Kei said but Natsu shook his head.

"Millions of lives are at stake and as the Dragon Prince, it's MY responsibility to stop them from creating any havoc." Natsu said seriously as Kei got in front of him, tears formed at the edge of her eyes.

"So what about responsibility? Your life is on the line as well, Natsu! What'll I do if you're gone?" Kei asked, tears falling from her face just at the thought of Natsu dying. She wouldn't and couldn't be able to handle it. She already lost too much and if he was gone too…..

Natsu then gave her a short smile before bringing her in for a hug.

"Come on, didn't I tell you before? That I won't die until I accomplish my goal? Well, I plan on keeping that promise?" Natsu said as he pulled away from her with a comforting smile.

"Fine, but promise me you'll come back safely." Kei said, still a bit reluctant, but she had to trust her mate.

Natsu then smiled at her before nodding his head.

"Always." And with that, Natsu took off towards the direction of the huge magical power, leaving Kei and Happy.

"Come on, we have to warn the citizens." Happy said as he lifted Kei up, getting a nod from the black haired girl, but her mind was elsewhere and her eyes never left Natsu's retreating form.

Meanwhile, back at the centre of the town, the Li in Crystal, the King of Fiore, Toma E. Fiore, had called for all the 8 guilds, and other guilds that were still staying in the city, as well as their mages.

And all of them were thinking about the same thing, what did their king want with them?

"So, to begin, I would sincerely like to apologize that we do not have the time to bask in the afterglow of the Grand Magic Games." Toma started out before a serious look grew on his face.

"However, I have heard that our country is about to face a dangerous force." This created a stir among the mages as they all wondered, what could have caused the king to be frightened about, and what was this force that they were informed of?

"That force we are speaking are the dragons, and it isn't just one of them, it's 10,000 of them!" Toma said causing shock among the crowd. This caused comments such as these to pop up:

"Dragons?! Dragons still exists in this timeline?"

"Forget that, there's going to be 10,000 of them here!"

"Forget that, I'm out of here, there's no way I'm putting my life on the line to fight them!"

Meanwhile, the Fairy Tail guild members were having a discussion of their own.

"Even though we were no match against one dragon, there's going to be 9,999 more of them." Cana said with a frown.

"Don't forget we were up against Acnologia of all dragons." Bickslow commented as Freed frowned.

"Acnologia or not, all of us combined wouldn't be able to match the strengths of dragons, they ruled the land long ago for a reason. They're strength is on a whole different level." Freed said.

"I know that I do not have any right to ask any of you this, but….." Toma then bowed, catching everyone's attention.

"Please, I beg of you, lend us a hand in defeating these dragons, please combine your powers to defend our country. That is all I ask." Toma said as everyone was silent for a bit before everyone cheered loudly.

"Well, naturally, we won't let these dragons beat us!" Cana shouted.

"This is our land, and we're here to fight for it!"" Sting said.

"Our opponents are dragons, so we Dragon Slayers are going to be on the spotlight." Rogue said confidently.

Everyone then began shouting their agreements to the plan as tears began falling from Toma's face, and these weren't tears of sadness, it was tears of joy.

"Thank you…..thank you…."

Meanwhile, standing nearby the crowd was none other than Leila and Sachi.

"Hoh, this is interesting, dragons are coming here, eh?" Leila then looked at the palm of her hand before closing it.

"What are we going to do about Kei?" Sachi asked, concern about her 'mother's' wellbeing as Leila smiled at the Exceed.

"Don't worry, I'll make sure she's fine, but first…." Leila then turned towards the direction of huge amounts of magical power coming from.

As the wizards all do their respective preparations for the upcoming and inevitable, the bell, right at the top of the bell clock tower, began ringing, signalling the start of a new day, and what day was it you may ask?

It's currently the 7th of July. The day of the dragons' disappearance.

Meanwhile, at the same time, Lumina was currently resting in the Dragon Council's room when she gasped as she was beginning to see an image in her mind.

In her image, she saw Natsu facing off against Acnologia and the Dragon Prince was kneeling on the ground, panting heavily as he looked up to see Acnologia charging up a breath attack before she fired it at him.

"No!" Lumina shouted before panting heavily as she looked around and analysed the room. However, seeing it empty didn't ease her at all as she frowned.

'Natsu….' Her thoughts quickly went to her beloved son.

With Natsu

The Dragon Prince was currently running through the streets as fast as he could, but he could tell that he was somewhat nearby the gate.

'I'm almost there.' Natsu thought as he caught a familiar scent in front of him and he quickly recognized it as Lucy, Wendy and the two Exceeds.

Natsu then noticed a ton of guards standing by as he looked forward to see the Eclipse Gate opening.

"Shit, I was too late!" Natsu cursed as he ran forward.

"Stop! Close the gates now!" Natsu shouted, catching everyone's attention as they turned to him.

"Natsu? What are you doing here?" Lucy asked him, but he ignored her before turning to Hisui, the princess of Fiore who bowed at him.

"Natsu Dragneel, congratulations on your guild's victory, your performance was stellar." Hisui said with a smile as Natsu looked at her seriously.

"I don't care, you need to close the gates now!" Natsu said, shocking everyone in the process.

"Mr. Dragneel, I've told you the purpose of the gate, why should we close-"

"Because you're going to cause the destruction of Fiore, not stop it!" Natsu said as everyone looked shock by his proclamation.

"What do you mean?" Hisui asked as Natsu pointed at the gate.

"That thing's a portal connected to 400 years ago! That thing's going to bring out the dragons'!" Natsu shouted as Hisui shook her head.

"That's not possible, I was informed that this thing is a magical cannon that will defeat the dragons that are coming here." Hisui said as Natsu growled.

"Open your eyes! In what way does this look like a weapon?" Natsu shouted as Arcadios grabbed Natsu by his shoulder.

"That's enough, you're talking to the princess of Fiore." Arcadios said as Natsu growled and grabbed Arcadios by his arm before tossing him away.

"Either you stop it, or I'll stop it for you!" Natsu shouted as he ran towards the gate. However, no one made a run for him.

"Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!" Natsu's fist was engulfed in flames before he sent a punch at the gate door.

However, before his punch could collide with the door, a powerful tremor caused him to lose his balance and fell to the ground, and since he was the closest to the gate, he felt it the most out of everyone.

Natsu then felt another shake to the ground, but this time it was smaller, it was almost as if something huge was walking towards them.

Natsu then looked up and his eyes went wide in shock and horror.

Right in front of him was none other than…..a dragon.
