Christopher Dragkrow: Now this is the twenty-ninth chapter of this story, I'm glad to say that we have finally passed the 700 favourites mark, and now let's aim for 800 favourites!

Chapter 29: Future at Stake!
In the last chapter of "I Will Love You No Matter What":
Natsu then felt another shake to the ground, but this time it was smaller, it was almost as if something huge was walking towards them.
Natsu then looked up and his eyes went wide in shock and horror.
Right in front of him was none other than…..a dragon.
Normal POV
ROOOOOOOOAR
Everyone nearby, and even in the distance had to quickly cover their ears from the loud roar from the massive beast in front of them. Not only that, but its roar also managed to create a shockwave that scattered many guards as well as some mages back, it also managed to destroy some buildings that were located nearby.
But not everyone was affected by this however, Natsu quickly got up on his feet and jumped back in order to get some distance between himself and the dragon. The pinkette's eyes narrowed as he looked at the dragon that appeared from the gate.
'Of all dragons that would have come out of that gate, it had to be this one.'
It was an extremely large, mastodonic Dragon, whose near-entire body is covered with large, thick, swirl-patterned scales, save for its underbelly, which is instead lined with porous holes, its face, which has smaller, more smooth scales positioned around the eyes. It also has extremely large wings; quite proportionate to its already-large body mass. Its two front, and back, claws sport five talons each: four in the front, and one in the back. Its long tail is adorned with the same scales as the rest of its body, and the tip is rather peculiar in shape, as it has two large scales protruding from both sides of its body.
It was none other than Motherglare, one of the dragons that joined together with the other dragons of Anti-humans side.
Motherglare seemed to have realized everyone's presence as it slammed one of its foot to the ground creating a giant slash through the ground, destroying any building in its way.
Everyone nearby the palace looked at the mythical beast in fear, even Wendy who had seen dragons before, but the dragon in front of her wasn't as kind as Grandeeney was, no it was a cold blooded beast.
Motherglare then roared once more as Natsu then walked towards the dragon calmly.
"Motherglare, never thought to see you still alive as you are now." Natsu said jokingly but there was hint of seriousness in his tone as Motherglare looked at the pinkette beneath him.
"(Human, how dare you speak with me as if you know who I am!)" Motherglare's voice booming as it slammed its leg on the ground, creating a massive hole in the ground, however Natsu wasn't even fazed by this, in fact, he looked amused.
"Of course I do. Motherglare, one of the most feared dragon in the land due to its ability to 'lay' a large number of miniature, bipedal, Draconian entities that you call your 'hatchlings' in order to capture and kidnap any humans for you to eat." Natsu said and Motherglare was fairly impressed that the human before it was quite knowledgeable.
"Then you must know that I can kill you easily!" and with that, Motherglare swiped its hand at Natsu's direction, with the intention to kill the pinkette in mind.
"Natsu, get out of the way!" Wendy shouted in fear as Natsu merely smirked when he saw the attack headed his way and merely raised one arm, blocking the attack without any struggles.
This action shocked everyone, more so to Motherglare.
"What?!" Natsu then disappeared from sight, causing Motherglare to panic as it turned its head around to look for the Dragon Prince.
'Where is he?!'
Natsu then shot down from the sky, his fist engulfed in flames as he sent a punch downwards, right towards Motherglare's head.
The force of the attack was enough to send the powerful dragon crashing into the ground with a loud thud.
Natsu stood on the dragon's head with a smirk on his face as his body was outlined with red light as he stood there and hid a smirk at seeing all the awed expressions on their faces.
"Incredible, I thought he revealed all of his strength in the Grand Magic Games, but it would appear that we were wrong." Hisui said to herself as Natsu got off of the downed dragon and walked towards the jade haired Princess.
"Now do you see what that thing does?" Natsu asked her seriously and Hisui nodded her head in shame.
"Yes, it would appear that I was fooled by that man." Hisui admitted and Arcadios shook his head.
"No princess, we were all fooled by him." Now this intrigued Natsu as to who could have been responsible with such an act when he felt two more powerful presence coming from the portal and turned back.
"Motherglare, to think that you would be beaten by a mere human and just one of them as well. Pathetic." A deep voice came from the gate as another dragon appeared from it.
"A-another dragon!" one of the guards shouted in fear as Natsu observed the dragon and sighed.
The dragon's body is extremely huge. It has four limbs as well as a pair of wings. On its chin, it seems to have a beard. However, its distinct feature is that his body is covered with protuberances resembling fish's fins, having them on the sides of its head, its back and even limbs. Its body is also covered with scales that look like the skin of fish.
Its name was Levia.
That wasn't all though as another dragon appeared from the gate.
This dragon was an enormous creature with looks that follow the usual characteristics of a Dragon: having a massive body, a pair of wings, four limbs with claws, and a tail. However, unlike most of the known Dragons, its body is not covered with scales, but it seems to be entirely made of flames.
Its name was Atlas Flame.
Natsu then stared at the two dragons that were in front of him before turning back to Hisui who stared at the mighty beast in fear.
"Princess listen to me now, whoever who told you about the Eclipse Gate obviously had a goal when doing so, but now you have to tell me how to close that thing." Natsu said and Hisui hesitantly shook her head.
"I'm afraid I do not possess the knowledge of doing so. That man merely told me about his plan and the future outcome but nothing more than that." Hisui said and Natsu cursed inwardly as more and more dragons appeared from the gate.
"Then how did you open the gate in the first place?" Hisui then pointed at both Lucy and Yukino, both of which were trying their best to defend the guards from a dragon named Scissor Runner, it was a dragon with a patterned body and a narrow head, it possesses two huge spines that jut straight from its chin and forehead, curving inwards towards each other, so much so that they almost touch in front of its mouth.
"We managed to open the gate by using the powers of the Celestial Spirits, perhaps we could close it using the same power?" Hisui asked and Natsu nodded his head before taking off towards the two Celestial Spirit mages.
"Lucy! Yukino! Both of you, get down now!" Natsu shouted at the two girls, causing them to turn back at him before doing as what they were told as the pinkette then ignites both of his hands and combines the flame creating a unique larger flame.
"With a flame on the right hand... and a flame on the left hand... When you combine the flames together..." Natsu chanted with his eyes closed as he opened them.
"Fire Dragon's Brilliant Flames!"
Natsu then threw the large fireball at Scissor Runner whose eyes went wide at the size as the attack sent it back.
"Are you two alright?" Natsu asked as he offered a hand to the both of them, something they appreciated as they took his hand and pulled themselves up.
"We're fine but what are we going to do now? There's currently six dragons here and there are bound to be more unless we close that gate." Lucy said and Natsu nodded his head in agreement.
"You're right which is why you two are going to do just that." Natsu said as they were shocked by what he said.
"B-but how are we going to close it?" Yukino asked curiously.
"The same way you opened the gate, you need to use your Celestial Spirits and close the portal before it's too late. It's up to you two now." Natsu said before he took off towards the dragons nearby the gate.
"Does he really think we can pull it off?" Yukino asked the blonde who smiled determinedly as she nodded her head.
"I'm sure he does, now we have to hurry before any more of them show up." And with that, the two Celestial Spirit mages began chanting in order to call upon all twelve Golden Celestial Spirits to appear.
Natsu, on the other hand, was currently fighting Levia and Scissor Runner at the same time.
"I haven't seen a human who's able to go on par with us like this, you sure are interesting." Levia commented as Natsu smirked as he fired a torrent of flames at the dragon's face, pushing it back by the force of his attack.
"Thanks, but are you sure you're feared throughout the land in the past? You're incredibly weak." Natsu taunted with a smirk, knowing that dragons pride themselves of their strength, this caused Levia to charge at him in anger, something Natsu counted on as the pinkette flicked his fingers and the result was instantaneous.
Flames immediately shot up from the ground, completely engulfing the dragon with this as Natsu had to quickly jump up in order to avoid an attack from Scissor Runner.
"Don't think I haven't forgotten about you too!" Natsu said as he landed on a nearby building and re-quipped his sword. Holding the grip tightly he jumped towards the mythical beast.
"Fire Dragon Sword Arts: Explosion Slash!" Natsu's sword was then covered with intense torrents of flames as Natsu started slashing the air, which caused the flames to fly around the air to some it looked like the flames were dancing, the flames then started heading towards the dragon.
"Don't underestimate me!" Scissor Runner then fired a large-scale breath attack at the incoming flames, overpowering them as the beam started headed towards Natsu's direction as the pinkette stared at the beam without any worry.
The beam then struck its target as it created a small explosion which destroyed the building as well as Scissor Runner laughed victoriously.
"Hah! That's what you get for being cocky!" the dragon said as he felt a powerful presence above him as he looked up just in time for Natsu to slash his sword across the face of the dragon, causing it to roar out in pain. However, Natsu wasn't done yet as his fist was surrounded by flames before he punched Scissor Runner, knocking him to the ground.
"Now, that's what YOU get for being cocky." Natsu said as he stood at his current position as he watched Scissor Runner fly away, probably to retreat for now and create chaos elsewhere. However, Natsu didn't move, instead he just closed his eyes and stood at the very same place for a few minutes, listening to the fights between dragon and mages everywhere around him.
"How much longer are you going to hide…Rogue?" Natsu asked and the pinkette could see a shadow moving through the ground before it stopped right in front of him as someone appeared from the ground.
"Very observant, aren't you Dragneel?" Rogue said as he appeared from the ground, however unlike the Rogue that Natsu currently knew, his hair is now much longer than before, being tied in a high ponytail that reaches midway down his back. Additionally, rather than being completely black, his hair is now black on the right and white on the left and there was a sharp, curved tattoo around his left eye.
"Though I'm pretty sure you still had pink hair around this time, I wonder what created such a change for the infamous Salamander to get a makeover?" Rogue stated with a smirk.
Natsu then realized that the Rogue in front of him was different than the Rogue that he knew, not only that but the Dragon Prince could feel that he was also more powerful as well.
'Either he was hiding his powers just like I was. Or, he's a completely different person…' Natsu thought to himself.
"Speaking of makeovers, look at yourself, tell me, did you plan this all along?" Natsu joked with the man in front of him but Rogue was not amused.
"I'm not the Rogue that you know." Rogue stated coldly and Natsu narrowed his eyes at him.
"I can clearly see that, but tell me then, who are you?" Natsu asked and the Rogue lookalike smirked at the question.
"My name is Rogue like you said, but I'm not the Rogue from this timeline, in fact, I'm Rogue seven years into the future." Rogue revealed.
(A/N: At this point of time, I decided to call the Future Rogue as Rogue since the present self will not appear in this chapter at all. Now, enjoy the rest of the story!)
'Well that explains the increase in power, but…'
"Is that so then how am I doing in the near future? Still destroying things for the heck of it I hope." Natsu joked as Rogue chuckled.
"You may think you're immortal Dragneel, that there's no one on your level…" Rogue then zoomed towards Natsu at a fast speed, causing Natsu to duck under in order to avoid a punch from Rogue, but when he got back up, Rogue was already behind him.
"But in my time…you're already dead." Rogue finished as Natsu sent an elbow at Rogue's face, catching him off guard as Natsu created some distance between the two, glaring at the man from the future.
"Is that so? Well, it looks like I'll need to prove to you that I'm in a world of my own." Natsu said as flames engulfed the Dragon Prince's body.
"We shall see indeed! Shadow Dragon's Crushing Fang!" Rouge thengenerates shadows from his hand and unleashes them at Natsu.
"Fire Dragon's Wing Attack!" Natsu then countered as he then brought out his two hands and flames start to gather around his hands which then resembled a Dragon's wing, Natsu then swung his hands, causing the flames to be fired at Rogue.
The two attacks collided midway and created a small explosion in between the two Dragon Slayers.
"Shadow Dragon's Vortex!" Rogue then extends his shadow in length, creating a swirling vortex.
"Fire Dragon's Roar!" Natsu then shot out a massive torrent of hellish red flames from his mouth at the black-white haired male.
The flames then consumed Rogue's attack as it continued heading towards the Shadow Dragon Slayer.
"Tch." The man quickly headed into the shadows in order for him to avoid the attack.
This proved to be a mistake because as soon as Rogue resurfaced, Natsu was already behind him, his fist engulfed with flames.
"Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!" Natsu then slammed his fist into Rogue's face, sending him flying into a nearby building.
"Fire Dragon's Roar!" and for good measures, Natsu then fired a torrent of flames at the exact place where Rogue crashed into.
"Don't underestimate me!" Rogue then released a large burst of shadows from his mouth, countering Natsu's own breath attack.
"White Shadow Dragon Sword Horn!" Rogue turns his body into shadows and swirls around his target. He then propels himself at Natsu from underneath, as a beam of light.
"Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!" Natsu then engulfed his fist in flames before sending a punch towards the incoming attack.
The two attacks then collided which resulted in a small explosion which engulfed the two.
Once the smoke died down, both Rogue and Natsu looked unhurt from the attacks and stared at each other intensely.
Natsu could see the anger in Rogue's eyes and could tell something was about to come.
"To think you're strong enough to push me this far. You really are strong, Natsu Dragneel." Rogue said he moved his hair to the side, revealing that his right eye was missing, instead replaced by a long, jagged scar that extends over the bridge of his nose.
"That's why I will defeat you for the sake of the future!" Rogue shouted as his left eye began glowing, causing Natsu to cover his eyes, but he was still able to see that half of Rogue's body became cloaked in shadows while whilst the other half remains normal in appearance.
"Years ago, I was left in awe when I saw how powerful your Lightning Flame mode was, but today I'll show you that you're not the only one who is capable of using dual elements!" Rogue shouted as he then rushes at Natsu, moving at light speed, who managed to avoid the attack, however Rogue managed to cut his side before the Shadow Dragon Slayer stopped behind him.
"I have possession of both shadow….AND light!" Rogue revealed as Natsu narrowed his eyes at the man from the future.
"I've managed to gain this power after endless amounts of fighting and eventually, I killed Sting to achieve this power of greatness." Rogue explained gleefully and Natsu clenched his fists tightly.
"How could you do that?! Sting was your partner, your friend!" Natsu shouted angrily at Rogue who stared at him in amusement.
"Friend? I guess you're right, but he too was corrupted with power and it was only a matter of time before one of us would have done it anyways." The man shrugged and noticed that the black haired Dragon Prince was glaring at him.
"Glare at me all you want, but this is inevitable and it'll only be a matter of time before the present Rogue will do the same thing too. However, that would take some time before he would grow the guts to begin killing." Rogue said and Natsu's bands covered his eyes when he heard the word, "killing."
Ever since that day when he killed those Dark mages, he'd been having nightmares about that day from time to time as a reminder of their blood staining his hands, that he was responsible for their death.
As much evil they've done in their lives, killing them was a bit too much. After all, Makarov had always taught them of second chances. Even though he's the Dragon Prince and that killing was required as a part of his job, the feeling of someone else's blood on his hands sent an uncomfortable chill running up his spine.
"That'll never happen." Natsu said softly but Rogue managed to hear him.
"Oh and why do you think that's so? I'm all of the proof you need that it ALREADY happened-" Rogue was unable to finish all that he needed to say as Natsu shot towards the Shadow Dragon Slayer, punching him into the ground with his fist engulfed in flames.
"Then I'll make sure that it'll never happen!" Natsu shouted as the black-white male slowly got up and glared at the black haired Prince.
"It's already too late! The earth will crumble, the skies shall burn, and the flames of light shall be extinguished, for I am the Dragon King: the emperor born from the Dragon King Festival!" Rogue shouted loudly as he snapped his fingers and suddenly Atlas Flame landed on the ground much to Natsu's shock.
'He's able of controlling the dragons? That must mean he knows about the Dragon Supremacy Magic. To think he's able to learn it without the help of a dragon.' Natsu thought to himself, inwardly applauding Rogue.
"It's time for me to make my leave now. Have fun Dragneel." And with that, Rogue escaped to the shadows and moved away from the battle.
"Atlas Flame…my father used to talk about you, how you're a devastating dragon whose flames are as deadly as magma." Natsu commented as Atlas Flame then began walking towards Natsu, creating a small tremor with each step.
"Your father must be knowledgeable then, but now, I'm going to make sure that you will taste the Flames of Hell!"
With Kei and Happy
"Everyone, please make sure that your loved ones are close to you." Kei called out as Happy, in his Tenebrarum Eques form, looked left and right to make sure that nobody was left behind.
His instincts suddenly warned him of something as he looked up to see Levia circling around Crocus.
"Damn it we need to speed things up! Kei, handle the things around here for a while, I'll go deal with the threat above us." Happy said before he took off towards the dragon above them.
"Darkness Roar!" Happy then shot out a beam of negative energy straight at the dragon.
The attack managed to connect with its target as Levia turned its head to see Happy.
"Hmm, a flying cat? This is rather interesting. However, I do not have any time to waste on some feline." With that, Levia fired a massive beam of energy from its mouth at Happy.
"Don't underestimate me!" Happy managed to avoid the beam before flying towards Levia.
"Thunder Knight's Holy Sword!" Happy then howled before he transmitted the electricity to his mouth before firing it as a massive beam at the massive beast in front of it.
The attack managed to hurt Levia as it cried out in pain as it began descending towards the ground, but right before it crashed into the ground, Levia managed to regain momentum and flew back upwards, glaring at Happy.
"How dare you make a mockery out of me?!" Motherglare growled.
"I think you're doing a fine job of doing it yourself." The Exceed smirked, causing Levia to fire another beam at Happy's direction to which Happy avoided it with ease.
On the other hand, Kei watched the battle taking place above her and she clenched her fist, feeling useless at not being able to do anything.
'I can't just sit back and watch, I need to help as well!' Kei thought to herself. That was when she heard a loud cry nearby and just when she was about to run towards the source of the sound, she was stopped by none other than Leila.
"Leila, what are you doing? I need to help that person!" Kei said and Leila looked at her strangely.
"And pray tell me how you plan on doing that without any weapon at all." Leila stated as Kei looked down as the white haired female sighed before pulling out a weapon from her back and handed it to her little sister.
"What is this?" Kei asked curiously as she examined the sword in her hands. It was a long silver single-edged blade that had some strange markings on it.
"I was planning on giving it to you on your twenty-first birthday, but considering the current situation, this a perfect time to hand it over to you." Leila said with a smile as Kei looked at the blade in her hand as she gave her sister a smile before hugging the Angel Slayer.
"Thank you so much for this, Leila." Kei thanked as Leila waved it off.
"You don't need to thank me, Kei. We're family, and that's never going to change." Leila smiled, getting a nod from the black haired female.
"Alright, now go." Leila said as Kei then ran towards the source of the sound, with Sachi flying overhead, leaving Leila alone in the street.
Just then, a dragon that was completely made out of rock appeared from around the corner as Leila turned to it.
"It's been a long while since I've battled, hope I'm not rusty." Leila said as she winded up her arm.
"Hoh? Another pathetic human? I'll make sure that I destroy you!" the Rock Dragon roared as it charged at Leila.
The white haired female then disappeared from sight, causing the dragon to stop in its tracks, looking left and right to find its prey.
"Over here!" The Rock Dragon then looked up to see Leila's fist covered by some sort of green light as she sent a punch at the dragon's face, causing it to recoil from the punch as part of its scales were broken from that punch alone.
"Damn, it looks like I'm rusty." Leila pouted, disappointed at seeing the damage she had done to the dragon.
"How dare you human! I'll show you the true powers of a dragon!" the Rock Dragon roared out but Leila wasn't even fazed at it, instead she had a smirk on her face.
"We'll see who'll be the one that gets defeated." With that a powerful surge of magic suddenly surrounded the white haired female that the Rock Dragon even took a step back from the white haired female after feeling the large amount of magic emitting from her.
"Let the fun begin."
With Natsu
"Fire Dragon's Roar!" Natsu then fired a torrent of flames towards Atlas Flame who let the attack hit him directly, but it looked as if it weren't affected by the attack whatsoever.
"Tch, I knew I wasn't going to hurt it so much with my flames but that attack was at the same level as the time I fought against Gildarts!" Atlas Flame, who heard that, snorted.
"You're comparing me with a human? We are DRAGONS, we're stronger than any human!" Atlas Flame shouted and this time it was Natsu to snort.
"Yeah, sorry to say but that isn't true at all, and I'm going to prove that!" With that, flames began surrounding the Dragon Prince as he shot himself towards Atlas Flame.
"Take this!" Atlas Flame then fired a torrent of hellish flames from its mouth at Natsu. However, it proved fruitless as Natsu was able to penetrate through the breath attack and slammed into Atlas Flame, causing it to step back from the force of the attack.
Natsu then gripped onto Atlas Flame's head and bit on Atlas Flame's body, sucking up the flames around it.
"W-what are you doing you?!" Atlas Flame roared out as Natsu managed out to smirk.
"I'm going to gain back all of the energy I lost by eating you up!" Natsu responded before returning back to his 'meal'.
"Don't you dare mock me! A human eating my flames is nonsense!" Atlas Flame then begins to swing its head back and forth in an attempt to shake Natsu off of its body, however, Natsu had a tight grip on the dragon's head and continued to eat the flames. Even when the dragon smashed its head to the ground, destroying the ground and nearby structures, the Dragon Prince continued to eat the flames, his energy slowly, but surely, returning to him.
Just when Atlas Flame was about to slam its head into a wall, it was suddenly filled with nostalgia as a dragon's face appeared in its mind.
Natsu was then surprised when Atlas Flame stopped his actions when it suddenly asked, "Boy, what is your relation with Igneel?"
Natsu then smiled at that question before responding, "Igneel's my father."
This answer seems to have satisfied the flaming dragon as Natsu got off of the dragon.
"I see, then may I ask, how is he doing? We are friends who have battled alongside each other for a long time."
"Well, he's still alive and is currently together with Lumina, the current Dragon Goddess." Natsu said as Atlas Flame chuckled, which caused Natsu to be confused.
"What's so funny?" Natsu asked curiously as Atlas Flame looked up at the sky, almost reminiscent.
"I'm merely remembering the days when Igneel tried to impress Lumina by making himself look bigger than before, battling other Dragon Kings and even hanging out with other females. I am glad to hear that the two are finally together." Atlas Flame said as Natsu smiled.
However, a loud roar pierced the sky as Natsu looked up in horror to see Happy crashing into a building, courtesy of Motherglare.
Natsu was about to jump up in order to get a better chance at hitting the dragon, but Atlas Flame stopped him.
"Now that I'm free from that man's control, I will assist you for your battle. Now, get on." Atlas Flame then lowered himself as Natsu smiled and quickly got on the fire dragon.
"As much as I don't like to admit it, are you sure you'll be fine against that man? He was capable of controlling us without putting too much stress to his mind." Atlas Flame asked in concern as Natsu nodded his head.
"If I don't defeat him now, our future will be lost and I can't allow that to happen." Natsu said determinedly as Atlas Flame smiled before taking flight towards the airborne Motherglare.
'I'm all fired up!' Natsu thought to himself with a smirk.

On the 7th of July in the year X777, the dragons all disappeared. Many years later, they reappeared on the same day, on the day of the Dragon King Festival. Who will appear victorious in a battle of man versus dragon? Who man be able to get the fairy tale ending they so desire?

Natsu Dragneel: *Kicks door* Yo!
