Chapter 31: The Dragon Prince Vs The Dragon King!
In the last chapter of "I Will Love You No Matter What":
"She's arrived…" was all he said, confusing Kei but her answer was quickly answered when she saw an enormous dark creature with four huge claws which would seemed to be a four-legged one. Blue intricate markings are seen in its black body and a pair of giant wings flapped tremendously to keep its heavy body afloat to the sky.
It was none other than Acnologia.
Normal POV
"ROOAAARRRR!" Ancologia roared out while descended from the sky into Crocus. This caused everyone to stare up at the sky before fear began to appear in their minds.
"I-it's Acnologia! Run away!" With that said, every single mage began running away from the Dragon of Apocalypse before it would do any harm to them. However, their efforts to escape proved to be fruitless when the Dragon of Apocalypse slammed her giant arm at them, sending them to crash into the buildings.
"GAAHHHH!" though they saw other injured, many couldn't find the heart to help them up. All they needed to do now was to run and escape before they would get killed.
Location: Eclipse Gate (destroyed)
Natsu then cursed his luck at the timing that Acnologia had as he placed a hand on his wound, which had reopened during his fight against Future Rogue. Natsu then turned his head to the direction of the Dragon of the Apocalypse.
Looks like things just keeps getting worse and worse for him.
"Natsu…don't tell me you plan to fight against her." Kei asked in worry and Natsu knew that it was best not to answer the question as he continued on staring at the mighty dragon that was creating havoc in the city.
"Natsu, don't be ridiculous! You just fought against those other dragons and now you're going to put your life on the line again?" Natsu then turned to face his black haired mate, cupping her face in his hands.
"Kei, it's my duty to stop her before she causes anymore deaths." Natsu said softly, frowning at the tears that were beginning to form on the eyes of his beloved. He was never one to enjoy seeing tears from anyone, especially not from his mate.
"I know…but I get the feeling that this time will be so much different than all your other battles. I don't want anything to happen to you Natsu. So please, please don't go." Kei said as tears began falling from her eyes as she grasped the Dragon Prince's hands tightly.
Natsu smiled gently at her as he released his hands and pulled her closer towards him, inhaling her intoxicating scent despite her being covered in dirt.
"Do you still remember the day I told you that I love you?" Natsu asked, not breaking from the hug as he felt Kei nod her head as she rested against his chest.
"On that day I made a decision-, no a promise, that I'll always protect you and be with you until the end of our days. And I'll make sure that no matter what happens, I'll keep that promise." Natsu then looked at her blue orbs which resembled beautiful sapphires he'd come across many times during mining missions, yet none of them shone as brightly as her eyes did.
"So please trust me, Kei. I promise you that I'll win against her, and that I'll return to you after the battle. So please…" Natsu said with his eyes closed and a few seconds later, he felt Kei breaking the hug forcing him to open his eyes.
"I believe in you Natsu, to not break this promise. Now go and kick that dragon's ass and be the Dragon King already!" Kei stated with a smile as Natsu stared at her in shock before nodding his head determinedly, but before he headed for the battle, he gave her a smirk.
"Could I get a kiss for good luck?" Natsu asked and Kei smiled at this as she gave him a soft kiss and while it wasn't as passionate as the other ones, Natsu felt a surge of energy flow through him.
"I promise I'll be back soon, please go and find some cover to hide in and be safe." Natsu said as he took off towards Acnologia's direction with Happy flying overhead, leaving Kei all alone as she placed a hand on her heart. While his words were indeed comforting, why did she still feel uneasy about the situation?
'Please be alright…Natsu. I can't bear to live without you too.'
Location: Centre of Crocus
Acnologia then let out another ear deafening roar which made the ground shake and caused the rubble to crash to the ground.
"Why is it even here? We already defeated the other dragons that came from the Eclipse Gate!" Gray shouted, wrapping an arm around Juvia's shoulder for support, normally this would have elicited a squeal from the water mage, but even she couldn't find the heart to do so after seeing the dragon.
Acnologia then flew upwards before looking down at Crocus as she began inhaling some air. The Tenroujima group of Fairy Tail immediately knew what was going to happen next.
"It's preparing to unleash its roar, everyone run!" Erza shouted, as everyone didn't bother going against her as they immediately took off to get some cover from the attack.
As soon as Acnologia finished gathering up magic in her mouth, the dragon then fired out a massive blast from her mouth directly at the city below.
However, right before the entire city could be destroyed by the blast, a large yellow spherical appeared, at the top it had the Fairy Tail mark and a stylized pair of wings emblazoned upon it, as it stopped the attack cold.
"Fairy Sphere!" everyone who weren't Fairy Tail members looked at the orb in amazement, it managed to withstand Acnologia's blast! While the Fairy Tail mages, who could see Mavis, smiled at her.
"Thank you so much for your help, First Master." Makarov thanked with a grateful smile on his face, though it wasn't returned as Mavis had a sorrow look on his face.
"I can only hold onto the sphere for so long, Eight. You and the others need to make haste and leave this city, far away before it could ever catch up." Makarov nodded his head determinedly at the instruction as he turned to everyone around him.
"Everyone, we need to leave this city as soon as possible since this barrier would not be able to withstand any more attacks of that caliber." Makarov said as everyone didn't even try arguing as they quickly began heading towards the exit of the city.
Kagura, however merely stood in place and turned towards the sky and her eyes widened in shock.
"Someone's flying towards Acnologia!" she shouted as everyone stopped evacuating and immediately looked up, and true to her words there was indeed someone headed towards the Dragon of Apocalypse, at a very fast speed no less.
Everyone recognized the figure in an instant, it would be rather hard not too had he not been the one who made a name for himself during the Grand Magic Games.
"It's Natsu!"
Natsu, who was being carried by Happy, now overhead the massive dragon, nodded at the blue Exceed who responded with a nod of his own before proceeding to drop the Dragon Prince.
Natsu then pulled his hand back, engulfing his entire arm with flames before sending a powerful punch directly at Acnologia's head. This caused the mighty beast to cry out in pain as she dropped to the ground at the strength of Natsu's punch.
This of course shocked everyone who was watching, more so for the Fairy Tail members who had been there on Tenroujima Island. The Dragon Prince hadn't been able to hurt the thing on his own, but now, he was able to knock it down with just a single punch?
Shaking those thoughts away from their head, they immediately called out to the black haired male.
"Natsu, hurry up and get in!" Makarov shouted seeing that Natsu landed near the sphere, as the Dragon Prince turned back to look at the old man seriously.
"Sorry Master, but that just isn't going to happen." Natsu said as he turned his full attention back to the dragon in front of him who was starting to get up.
"Natsu, don't be ridiculous! We weren't capable of beating it as a group, how on Earthland are you going to fight it on your own?!" Erza shouted as she slammed her gauntlet fist on the sphere as Natsu continued to stare at the black dragon in front of him.
"Back then I had nothing to prove, but this time, I'll make sure I'll stay alive to protect everyone!" Natsu shouted as he ran towards Acnologia.
Acnologia then fired a massive beam at Natsu who quickly re-quipped his sword and sent a powerful slash at the beam, slicing the attack in half.
"Happy!" Natsu shouted as the blue Exceed reverted to his Tenebrarum Eques form and began launching an attack on the Dragon King.
"I wonder if my attack could penetrate through your scales! Darkness Roar!" Happy then shot out a beam of negative energy straight at Acnologia. Though the attack struck her directly, it barely seemed to affect the dragon as she turned her head at Happy before sending a punch at the Exceed. The punch managed to send Happy straight into a building, creating an indent on the wall.
"Fire Dragon's Roar!" Natsu the fired a massive torrent of flames at the Dragon of Apocalypse who immediately responded with a roar of her own, the two breath attacks cancelling each other out.
"Since that didn't work, Fire Dragon's Wing Attack!" Natsu then brought out his two hands and flames start to gather around his hands which then resembled a Dragon's wing, Natsu then swung his hands, causing the flames to be fired at Acnologia's direction.
Acnologia then flapped her wings as she soared upwards, avoiding Natsu's attack.
'Looks like we're going up.' Natsu thought as he watched as Happy flew towards Acnologia at a very fast speed.
"Hyper Slash!" Happy's claws then extended as they glowed red before slashing at Acnologia's tough scales.
"Damn, I knew it wouldn't be enough." Happy muttered, avoiding yet another attack from Acnologia as he quickly flew down next to Natsu.
"So, what do you think?" Natsu asked, crossing his arms around his chest as Happy grunted in response, "Unfortunately I think you're right on this one. I couldn't even deal much damage with my attacks. While the other dragons were much of a challenge, Acnologia's on a whole new level." Happy said as he turned to the dragon flying in the air before turning back to his partner.
"I think it's time for you to use IT, there's no other way around it." Happy said causing Natsu to frown. While he knew that Acnologia was extremely powerful, he didn't want to have to use his Dragon Prince mode since it would cause even more destruction to the city and with Kei and the others still choosing to reside, it would prove to be a more difficult task.
"I'll see if that really is the case." Natsu then began charging towards Acnologia at a very fast speed, jumping on the buildings to reach the dragon's height.
"Fire Dragon's Roar!" Natsu the fired a massive torrent of flames at Acnologia who was struck by the attack directly sending her crashing into a nearby building, providing Natsu a better opportunity to attack.
"With a flame on the right hand... and a flame on the left hand... When you combine the flames together..." Natsu chanted with his eyes closed as he opened them.
"Fire Dragon's Brilliant Flames!"
Natsu then threw the large fireball at the downed dragon who immediately fired a massive beam, which engulfed Natsu's attack, but didn't stop there as it headed straight for Natsu.
The ravenette's eyes widened in shock as he quickly jumped off the building, landing safely on the ground as he turned back to see that the sturdy building he was standing on was completely destroyed.
'If I had even been a second late, that would have been me.' Natsu thought before he smirked as he re-quipped his sword.
"Fire Dragon's Sword Arts: Explosion Slash!" Natsu's sword was then covered with intense torrents of flames as Natsu started slashing the air, which caused the flames to fly around the air to some it looked like the flames were dancing, the flames then started heading towards the Dragon of Apocalypse.
Acnologia then tilted her head to the side in order to avoid the attack before she sent a punch at Natsu's direction, however, before the attack could collide with him, Natsu managed to block said attack with his hands, with difficulty I might add.
Though it allowed Acnologia to swing her tail at Natsu, causing his eyes to widen in shock, as he was sent crashing into a building. Though that wasn't all since she continued her attack by sending a punch at Natsu, causing him to cough out some saliva mixed with blood.
Natsu then glared at the dragon heatedly and right before she could land another attack on him, he rolled out of the way and jumped up to avoid her attack before running up her arm, with his fist engulfed in flames
"Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!" Natsu then jumped up and sent a powerful right hook at Acnologia, thought it wasn't enough to knock her down since she managed to keep herself standing before punching Natsu to the ground.
Natsu then groaned in pain and quickly rolled out of the way before he could get punched again. Though, by doing this, he placed himself at the mercy of her Dragon's Roar.
The attack managed to create a massive crater at the spot where Natsu once stood.
"Natsu!" everyone shouted in horror, thinking that the ravenette had been vaporised. Acnologia stared at the spot where Natsu had been 'vaporised', completely unaware of the bright light coming from above.
"Fire Dragon's Sword Horn!" Natsu then head butts Acnologia directly on her head with his entire body ablaze, the strength of the attack boosted by his speed was enough to send Acnologia crashing into the ground.
Natsu could feel movement underneath him and that was when he saw her tail headed straight at him and he would have been hit had it not been for Happy who quickly grabbed him, avoiding the attack.
"That was quite sloppy of you Natsu." Happy stated as Natsu rolled his eyes.
"Well sorry about that, it's not like I fought a man who came from the future and a group of dragons at once. Of course not." Natsu said sarcastically as he stared at Acnologia who was looking at their direction.
Acnologia then shot out a massive beam from her mouth at direction, but because of his speed, Happy was able to dodge the attack with ease.
Though neither one of them had expected to see Acnologia appearing in front of them before she sent a punch at them, sending the two crashing into the ground.
"Well, that was unexpected." Natsu said, rubbing the back of his head as Happy emerged from the rubble.
"Are you sure you don't want to fight it with THAT? We haven't done any real damage to it yet." Natsu growled at the truth of those words. He couldn't deny that at all. Turning back, he saw that only the Fairy Tail members and a few from the other guilds remained. The reason they did so, he was unsure.
But what he was sure about that was that he wasn't going to lose!
"Well then, it looks like we might as well take it up a notch." Natsu muttered to himself, activating his Lightning Flame Dragon Mode as Happy lifted him up once more, flying towards Acnologia at a very fast speed.
"Lightning Flame Dragon's Iron Fist!" Natsu then engulfed his fist flames as electricity surrounded around his arm before he sent a powerful right hook at Acnologia, sending her back from the attack but ultimately did nothing but anger her as she roared out at him angrily.
"Tch, this is a pain." Natsu said as Happy avoided yet another attack from the dragon.
"We can't keep doing this, Natsu! It'll only be a matter of time before we run out of energy." Happy said as Natsu cursed, not wanting to acknowledge it, but it would appear he did not have any options left.
"Fine, I'll-" However, he didn't finish his sentence when he saw someone else headed straight for Acnologia. It wasn't just that as well, it was the fact that he knew who it was.
"Angel's Charging Wind!" A white haired female then appeared above the mighty dragon, her fist surrounded by white magical aura before slamming it against Acnologia's head, sending her crashing into the ground.
"Leila?!" Truth to his words, Leila, the sister of his beloved mate, stood before Acnologia with Sachi flying closely beside her.
The white haired female then turned her head at Natsu before giving him a smile.
"Glad to see that I'm not the only one willing to fight this thing." Leila said nonchalantly as the Dragon Prince flew, with Happy's help, towards her.
"Leila, what are you doing here? This place isn't safe!" the Angel Slayer couldn't help but roll her eyes at this.
"Is that so? Then what are you doing here?" Leila asked, poking his chest as she did so.
"I'm a Dragon Slayer, I'm trained to fight dragons and kill them." Natsu argued as Leila shook her head before examining the ravenette from head to toe.
"While that may be true, but you're clearly injured and don't have enough energy to take it down on your own." Leila said and Natsu couldn't deny that statement.
Happy, on the other hand, flew around Sachi to make sure that she was perfectly fine to which she reassured that she was alright.
As the Dragon Prince was about to respond, a roar managed to cut him off.
"How about you treat me some dinner later after we finish it off?" Leila said with a smirk and Natsu couldn't help but chuckle at that.
"We'll just have to see about that." Natsu said, cracking his knuckles before engulfing his hands with flames.
"Let's do it!" With that, the two flew over towards the massive beast in front of them, who roared in response.
"Angel Slayer's Torrents!" A huge whirl of compressed wind was then shot at Acnologia's direction as the mighty dragon quickly flew away in order to dodge it.
Though, that was exactly what the white haired girl had planned as Natsu engulfed his hands in flames coated with electricity.
"Lightning Flame Dragon's Iron Fist!" Natsu's punch managed to send the dragon crashing into the ground as Leila floated above her.
"Angel Slayer's Raging Twister!" Manipulating the air around her, the Angel Slayer then summoned a powerful twister above Acnologia, pushing her down to the ground even more, which caused the land beneath her to begin cracking due to the force applied to it.
Acnologia managed to free herself by destroying the twisters, extending her wings to do so as she charged towards Leila's direction.
"Tch, looks like the famed Dragon of Apocalypse is deserving of its strength." Leila cursed as Sachi quickly lifted the both of them up.
However, Acnologia had no intention of letting them escape as she chased after them, but the dragon was immediately met with a punch to the face as Natsu smirked at her from his position.
"You're facing me as well!" Natsu said and this immediately angered Acnologia as she decided to fly towards Natsu instead.
Natsu then had Happy avoid every attack Acnologia dished out at them while sending out attacks of their own, which managed to deal some damage to Acnologia, but only by a bit.
"Try this on for size! Angel Slayer's Angelic Cannon!" Leila then held both her palms out before firing a white beam from them straight at the dragon.
This managed to push the dragon back slightly, but it was enough of a distraction for Natsu to appear behind her.
"Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!" with his fists engulfed in flames, Natsu sent a powerful punch at Acnologia, the force of the punch sending it crashing.
This obviously left the audience in awe.
"This is incredible, they're actually fighting against it on an equal footing…" Makarov said in shock, watching as he watch his guild member battle alongside one of the most powerful mages of this time, Leila.
Mavis definitely wanted to agree with the old man, had she not see the dragon's eyes turn red.
Acnologia then suddenly roared loudly, which surprised both Natsu and Leila as she then slammed her tail at Natsu, sending him and Happy crashing into a building before she swiped her claw at Leila, sending her and Sachi to the ground.
"Shit, that hurt…" Leila cursed, and as she was about to get up, she flinched after feeling the pain coming from her ankle.
'Of course this had to happen…' The Angel Slayer then looked around and her eyes widened when she saw the unmoving figure of the white coloured Exceed.
"Sachi!" the white haired girl cried out in alarm as she went towards the Exceed as best she could. She picked the Exceed into her arms and looked over her as she sighed. Fortunately, she was alright with bruises being the only thing needed to worry about, however, she was also knocked unconscious.
"Alright, time to get you-" the Angel Slayer was unable to finish her sentence when she felt an overbearing presence nearby her.
Leila's eyes went wide in horror when she saw the dragon right in front of her, preparing to fire a massive breath attack at her, knowing that she was unable to escape. She then held onto the unconscious Sachi tightly, cradling the white Exceed in her arms.
"I'm so sorry, Sachi, Kei." Leila muttered, a stray tear falling from her face as she waited for the inevitable.
"Not if I can help it!" a familiar voice shouted out as the massive attack was stopped in its place by a fire wall which erupted from the ground, right in front of Leila and Sachi.
The attack then struck the wall directly, but instead of being destroyed, the fire managed to repel it completely before dispersing.
Natsu then ran up to the white haired female as Happy flew over towards his mate.
"Leila, are you alright?" the Angel Slayer nodded her head as she averted her gaze to Sachi.
"I'm fine, but Sachi is going to be out of it for the rest of the day." Natsu nodded his head in understanding as he watched Acnologia standing in front of them.
"Happy, you go and bring Leila and Happy into the barrier so that they could get some rest and heal their wounds." Leila's eyes widened in shock at what he was suggesting.
"But that means-!" the white haired female was unable to finish her sentence when Happy then lifted her up and began carrying her, along with Sachi, towards the barrier.
"Natsu, you can't fight her all by yourself, you'll die!" Leila shouted as Natsu turned back at her and gave the Angel Slayer a smile.
"I won't die. After all…" Natsu then turned his attention back to the dragon who growled menacingly at him.
"I made a promise!" With that said, Natsu then took off towards the Dragon of Apocalypse, with his fists engulfed in flames.
"Come on Natsu, you can do it!" everyone behind the barrier cheered, hoping that the ravenette would pull out a miraculous victory.
Makarov watched tensely before looking at Mavis who had a concerned look on her face, "First Master, what's wrong?" the blonde master then shook her head.
"It's no use, no matter how strong Natsu is, he isn't strong enough to damage it properly." Mavis said in regret, after watching the fight, she noted that the Salamander of Fairy Tail was moving slower and slower after each passing minute while Acnologia was in a much better condition than he is.
"That would be the case if I didn't have this!" As soon as he said those words, golden flames began surrounding the Dragon Prince and scales began forming around his limbs and face.
"He entered Dragon Force!" Makarov exclaimed, shocking everyone, especially the others who had seen him in that form before. While they knew he could use it, they never expected that the ravenette was capable of activating it on his own.
Natsu couldn't help but smirk when he heard this.
'It's not my usual Dragon Force, it's definitely different!' Natsu thought, the flames that surrounded his body were also coated with electricity.
"Let's see how much of shock this'll cause! Lightning Flame Dragon's Demolition Fist!"
"Let's see how you'll fare against this! Lightning Flame Dragon's Roar!" Natsu then gathers and combines the electricity and flames in his mouth, subsequently releasing them in a large and powerful burning and sparking blast at Acnologia.
Acnologia, sensing danger from the attack immediately responded by firing a massive beam at the upcoming attack.
The two breath attacks collided with one another and the result was a massive explosion, Natsu was about to jump away, had it not been for Acnologia wrapping a tail around Natsu's leg.
'Shit!' the tail then proceeded to pull him towards the blast, which engulfed him.
Once the smoke died out, Natsu could be seen panting heavily, blood flowing profusely from his head and his clothes were tattered.
Acnologia, on the other hand, had broken scales and multiple scars located throughout her entire body and was panting as well, but not as hard as the Dragon Prince.
'This is getting ridiculous, how much more damage must I deal until she finally stops?!' Natsu thought to himself, as he used his sword as a cane, glaring at the beast in front of him.
'Fighting this thing one on one is definitely proving to be a hassle.' Acnologia then proceeded to show just how much of a hassle she was as she charged in towards Natsu once again.
"Fire Dragon's Sword Arts: Explosion Slash!" Natsu's sword was then covered with intense torrents of flames as Natsu started slashing the air, which caused the flames to fly around the air to some it looked like the flames were dancing, the flames then started heading towards the Dragon of Apocalypse.
This proved to do nothing as she slammed herself at him, causing him to cough out some blood mixed in saliva as he was sent crashing on the ground before he got up, rather slowly I may add.
"That was definitely…uncool." Natsu muttered to himself as he scanned the area.
There had to be something that would distract the Dragon of Apocalypse for a split second so that he would be able to counterattack.
Snapping his fingers, Natsu immediately punched the ground which caused a firewall to erupt from the ground, shielding Natsu from her vision.
Acnologia immediately began flapping her wings in order to blow the flames away, only to reveal that Natsu was no longer standing behind it.
Acnologia began turning around frantically as an attempt to locate the missing Dragon Prince.
"I'm right here!" his voice filled the area, which increased Acnologia's franticness before she finally looked at the one place she hadn't.
Up.
It was just in time for Natsu to land a powerful fiery punch straight at Acnologia's face, the force alone was able to send her crashing into the ground, making a giant hole in the process.
Natsu quickly jumped off the dragon's head as she emerged from the rubble and growled menacingly at the Dragon Prince who gave her an emotionless look in return.
Acnologia then growled menacingly at him as Natsu raised an eyebrow at the massive dragon in front of him. It wasn't noticeable before, but now, he noticed that her eyes were cloudy.
'Don't tell me…she's not in control of herself?' Natsu thought to himself, thinking about how the battle had been going and based on her movements alone, it was clear that she was merely countering his attacks and using her moves directly at him. She wasn't making any moves to trap him or anything. She was only hell-bent on destroying him.
'Even the other dragons knew what they were doing. Then that means…' Natsu narrowed his eyes and as he had predicted, there was a small device located at Acnologia's neck.
'If I could destroy that switch, I'm sure that I'll be able to end the battle!' With a nod, the Dragon Prince then charged towards the mighty dragon.
Acnologia then fired a breath attack at Natsu, who managed to avoid it by jumping onto a building before leaping towards her.
"Fire Dragon's Roar!" Natsu then fired a torrent of flames at Acnologia, more specifically towards her neck.
However, Acnologia tilted her head in order to avoid the attack as she sent a punch at Natsu, who quickly re-quipped his sword again and swung it down towards the punch.
The slash managed to repel Acnologia's attack as Natsu quickly used it as a chance to retreat as he jumped back, creating some distance between himself and the dragon.
Natsu began panting heavily, with his vision beginning to blur due to the tiredness he was feeling.
'Damn it, this is really bad. I can't lose focus!' Natsu then shook his head, trying his best to focus on his task at hand.
However, that few seconds left him wide open to attacks as Acnologia appeared right in front of him.
"Shit…!"
The black dragon then slammed her tail at Natsu, sending him flying into a nearby building, the rubble falling atop of Natsu.
Acnologia then roared out loudly, firing a massive orb into the sky before it erupted, thousands of stars now falling down onto Natsu's direction.
"Natsu, get out of the way!" Makarov shouted in fear.
Natsu watched at it with horror as he tried forcing his way out of the rubble, but…
It was too late.
The attack managed to hit its target directly as a massive explosion engulfed the area, the Fairy Sphere somehow managed to repel the blast.
"Natsu!" everyone shouted in horror, the smoke blocking their vision from determining whether the Dragon Slayer was alright or not.
Once the smoke cleared, everyone could only watch in horror when they saw the ravenette on the ground, surrounded by a pool of his own blood.
"Oi flame-brain! Don't you dare give up!" Gray shouted, a tear falling from his eye as he punched the wall.
"Natsu, you have to get up!" Erza cried.
"Natsu…please." Lucy was openly crying, feeling absolutely useless that she couldn't do anything to help her crush.
The others were also trying to give their encouragement to the downed Dragon Slayer, but no matter what they said…
He didn't get back up.
'Damn it…what's happening?' Natsu thought to himself, his vision was blurry and he could feel pain throughout his entire body.
'Shit, don't tell me I'm dying. That's not cool at all…and to think I promised not to die…' Natsu couldn't help but chuckle, the act alone caused him to flinch in pain as he slowly turned up where he saw Acnologia standing right above him. The dragon then grabbed him tightly, as Natsu flinched in pain.
The dragon then proceeded to throw him, sending him flying through the air before he was stopped by a building which immediately broke after the contact.
"Natsu!" everyone shouted in worry as Acnologia turned to them with a growl, causing them to flinch before the black dragon immediately flew towards Natsu's direction.
"First Master, please lower down the barrier!" Gray said to the ghost who lowered her head in shame.
"I can't."
"Why? Natsu's badly injured, we need to go there and help him!" This time Lucy shouted as Mavis clenched her fists tightly.
"It's because all of you would die as well if you choose to enter the battle! There's a reason I haven't intervened with the battle or prepared a strategy to fight that monster, and it's because it is too powerful for all of you combined." Mavis said as
"Then what about Natsu? Why allow him to fight all by himself?" Erza asked as Mavis frowned.
"It's because he belongs to a world of his own, his strength is immeasurable compared to average mages, which is why Natsu was the best bet in beating Acnologia."
"So, what happens now?" Gajeel asked, holding onto Levy's hand tightly as Mavis frowned at them.
"The only thing we can possibly do, and that is to escape and fight it another time."
(Line Break)
Seeing the last of the mages exiting the town, Mavis turned her head towards the direction of the destroyed city where Natsu currently was. Along with Acnologia.
'I truly apologise Natsu, I hope I was able to comply with your last request.' Mavis thought with an ashamed look on her face.
How would her friends look at her now if they'd seen her make such a decision that goes against everything they strived for in Fairy Tail.
'I'm sorry.'
Meanwhile, the Dragon Prince was trying to push himself back up, but he immediately dropped back to ground with a thud accompanying his drop.
The Dragon Prince then felt small tremors on the ground moving towards him and didn't even need to look up to know what was standing in front of him.
'Tch, guess Happy was right all along…I should have used it…well, it's too late for me now…' Natsu thought, but instead of feeling scared, angry or sad.
He felt…at peace.
Acnologia then began inhaling some air, preparing a breath attack that would surely end the ravenette's life.
Memories then began to appear in the Dragon Prince's mind as time slowed down.
Spending his childhood alongside Igneel and Lumina. The time when he first met Makarov and joined Fairy Tail. Happy's birth and all the adventures they would go during their time there. And finally, meeting Kei in the forest. All of the moments they spend together continued flooding his mind as he felt a lone tear fell from his eye.
Though, among them all, there was one picture that dominated over the rest:
When the two held each other tightly as they kissed each other passionately.
'Goodbye…Kei.'
However before the Dragon of Apocalypse was able to use her attack, a powerful blast appear out of nowhere which managed to knock Acnologia to the ground causing the Dragon Prince's eyes to widen in shock.
"That was a good strike if I do say so myself." Happy said to himself proudly.
'Happy…?'
The dragon quickly got up as she roared at him causing Happy to roll his eyes at this.
"Please, I fight Natsu almost all the time and he's much scarier in that form." Happy said as the Exceed immediately took off into the air with the black dragon chasing after him. The Exceed then turned back towards his partner with a sorrow look on his face.
'Please survive this, Natsu.'
"Natsu!"
That was when he saw Kei running towards his direction before she knelt down beside him, frowning at how badly damage he looked before she pressed her hands on the wound on Natsu's chest as if trying to stop the blood from flowing out of his body.
"You'll be fine, you'll be fine." She muttered as Natsu placed his hand atop of hers causing her to turn to him.
"Coughs!" Natsu was trying to speak but he coughed up more blood.
"Don't speak! You need to conserve your energy!" Kei said, holding back her tears as Natsu smiled at her.
"Kei, it's okay, I doubt I'd be able to survive even if there was a way, I fear my wounds might have gotten worse…" Natsu chuckled weakly to himself, his heart was beginning to beat slower after each passing second and he knew it as well, feeling his consciousness leaving him.
"Why…?" she whispered as Natsu looked at her in confusion and that was when he felt something moist on his cheek. Turning to the black haired woman, he saw that tears were streaming down her face.
"Why do you have to say that? Didn't you promise you were going to stay alive?" she all but shouted as she grasped his hand tightly, the warmth she was used to feeling from his hands were starting to turn cold. Natsu smiled at this as he lifted himself up and placed a chaste kiss on her lips once more as he bumped his forehead with hers to which she responded by wrapping her arms around him with no intention of letting go.
"I'm sorry Kei, I really wish there was another way…" the Dragon Prince then turned his gaze up above where he saw Happy clash against Acnologia.
'I'm sorry everyone, but it looks like this is goodbye…' Natsu thought as he closed his eyes, prepared for death to take him.
'Please, please let there be some way to save him!' Kei prayed within her mind as she tightened her grip onto the man she loves.
"Holy Light!"
A bright light immediately engulfed the area, which caused Kei to cover her eyes in order to block the light from entering her eyes.
As soon as the light died down, Kei noticed that all of Natsu's wounds were immediately beginning to heal, the large gash on his chest was closing as well, which shocked her. The girl then shook away her surprise as she immediately placed her head on Natsu's chest, his heart was starting to beat faster in contrast to how it was before.
A groan then caught her attention as the girl turned to see that the Dragon Prince's eyes were open as he placed a hand on his head before his eyes widened in shock.
"I'm…alive?" Natsu asked and that was when he felt a stinging pain coming from his left cheek, realising that Kei had slapped him.
"Kei…, I-"
"You-You idiot." Kei trembled, her bangs covering her eyes, her body shaking uncontrollably as Natsu pulled her into a hug in an attempt to soothe her.
"I'm sorry, Kei." Natsu said gently into her ear, stroking the back of her head with a smile on his face before a frown replaced it.
The Dragon Prince couldn't help but feel extremely guilty, seeing as he had caused the woman he loves to be in such a state, all because he didn't want to create any more destruction. To think he had made that promise with Kei about using his full strength for every battle long ago. He was glad though, that he was still in the world of the living alongside his mate.
"What do you think happened?" Kei asked after a few more seconds, wiping away the tears from her face as Natsu placed a hand on his chin and then answer became clear after seeing a pure white light disappearing off into the distance.
'Thanks for your help, mom.' Natsu thought with a smile as a loud cry immediately brought him out of his thoughts as he looked up to see Happy get hit by Acnologia's attack as he was sent crashing into the ground, creating a crater in the process.
"Happy!" Natsu cried out in worry as he ran over towards his partner who returned back to his regular Exceed form.
The feline turned over to his partner and gave him a shaky grin, "Glad to see that you're finally back up on your feet…Natsu." Natsu couldn't help but chuckle as he went and pick him up from the crater.
"You've worked hard. Go and take a long rest." Natsu said but the only response he got were snores coming from the now unconscious Exceed.
Natsu smiled at this before handing him over to Kei who held him gently in her arms.
A loud booming sound filled their ears as they watched as Acnologia fire out beams from her mouth at her surroundings, destroying everything in her path.
"So, you're going to continue to fight?" Kei asked after seeing the determined expression on Natsu's face.
"That's right, and this time I plan on ending this once and for all." The Dragon Prince said as he began walking towards the dragon, had he not been stopped by Kei who got in front of him and wrapped her arms around his waist, hugging him tightly.
"Kei…"
"I know, you got to do your responsibilities as the Dragon Prince." Kei said, not removing herself from him, not that he minded anyways.
"Just make sure to come back to me, Natsu." Kei said and she felt his warm hand on her cheeks and as if pulled by magnetism the two then shared a gentle kiss before Natsu broke it off as a smile formed on his face.
"Thanks for the extra motivation for me to win this match." Natsu said, causing Kei to blush slightly at his words before she slapped his arm.
"Idiot…" she mumbled to herself, pouting before giving the Dragon Prince a worried expression.
"Please be more careful." Natsu nodded his head as he watched the girl he loves run away in order to find a place to shelter herself in.
Natsu then turned his head at Acnologia's direction and smirked appeared on his face, as a large amount of magical power surrounded the Dragon Prince.
"I'm all fired up."

Natsu Dragneel: Yeah, so I was busy watching some anime yesterday and there's this anime called Qualidea Code that caught my interest.
Christopher Dragkrow: Oh, that anime. How was it?
Natsu Dragneel: Kind of alright for an anime with 12 episodes but the main character is more annoying than me. He's like that ice princess minus the stripping and ice.
