Hey, everybody. Back with another chapter.

Let's get to it.

Chapter 9- School

(September 4, 1995)

In the living room of the Grangers' new house in Richmond, Harry and Hermione are setting up for the day.

Today is the day that they are finally going to start classes at Ilvermorny. For the time being, they will be doing all of their lessons virtually, to avoid any chance of news of their location being leaked to the British Ministry. Thankfully, Ilvermorny is a little more compatible with Muggle technology. They have had the ability to have TV screens installed in the classrooms to allow Harry and Hermione to attend classes by video conference.

Harry and Hermione are mostly attending the same classes: Defense Against the Dark Arts, Charms, Potions, Transfiguration, Herbology, and Magical History. Hermione was also taking Arithmancy and Study of Ancient Runes. Classes at Ilvermorny also worked differently than at Hogwarts. The class periods were slightly longer, and classes were organized into classes that run on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday or classes that ran on Tuesday and Thursday, with Saturday devoted to extra curriculars and Sunday being a relaxation day. The schedule is also more constant than at Hogwarts. Because of the way this schedule works and the days of the week dates land on this year, students had arrived at Ilvermorny on Saturday the 2nd, and today, the 4th, is the first day of classes.

Today, they are going to start off with Defense against the Dark Arts, with Potions and Magical History later today for both of them and Arithmancy for Hermione. The rest of their classes are Tuesday /Thursday classes.

"You ready for this?" Harry asks Hermione as he sets his textbook out for DADA.

"I am. This is going to be really different than what we're used to, but I'm excited for it," Hermione says. She then looks at him and smiles. "Are you excited to still be able to play Quidditch?"

Harry smiles. It turns out that at Ilvermorny, security required them to only play one sport, and that spot was allocated to the more popular sport in America known as Quodpot. For Quidditch, there was a professional league. In addition, similar to the American Muggle world ran sports with their being sports teams at the college level and minor leagues that served as gateways to the major leagues, there was a minor league for Quidditch in America that was intended to serve to recruit for the major league teams and prepare young players for the major leagues. Both the major league and the minor league each had 16 teams

When the American Quidditch league learned that Harry was in America, he was contacted by a dozen teams wanting to recruit him to their minor league teams, having heard of his skill as a Seeker during his time on the Gryffindor team. After some contemplation and discussion with Hermione, he had decided to sign a contract with the St. George Gulls, the minor league team affiliated with the Sweetwater All-Stars, which was based out of St. George, Utah. He would be joining practices on Saturdays, as well as any other practices he had time for during the week. Games for the Gulls were mostly on Friday evenings, fitting well with Harry's schedule at Ilvermorny.

"Yes, it's going to be good. I'm interested to see what Quidditch is like in America," Harry says with a chuckle.

Hermione smiles at her boyfriend. Then, her father comes walking in and says, "Alright, you two. Class should be starting in just a minute." He then walks over to the TV screen to try and get it set up with the video conference connection while Harry and Hermione open their textbooks and lay out the class syllabus that was mailed to them prior to the start of school.

In a matter of seconds, the screen comes on, and the screen displays a classroom. A number of teenagers are sitting at desks, with an older man standing at the front of the classroom.

The professor looks back at the screen at the back of his classroom and smiles. "And, here we go. Our connection has been established. Students, I would like to introduce you to two new classmates: Harry Potter and Hermione Granger, transfers from Hogwarts in the United Kingdom."

Everyone in the classroom looks back at the screen, and many of them get looks of shock on their faces as they realize Harry Potter is in their class. Even though they are all from America, they know the story of Harry Potter and Voldemort.

"Alright, everyone. I'm sure that you will get a chance to meet Mr. Potter and Miss Ganger soon enough. Needless to say, we ask that you not tell anyone back home that they are here and attending school here. Now, let us move on into our class for today," the professor says.

Everyone in the classroom refocuses their attention on the professor as he begins to talk about the curriculum for this school year and some of the things they'll be learning. As he begins talking, Harry feels a sense of relaxation come over him. Although it's at an entirely new school, being back in school and in magic classes after all the chaos from the last few months, it feels like his life is somewhat back to normal. Or, at least, as normal as it can be given the situation.

(White House)

In the Oval Office, President Clinton is in the midst of discussions with President Smithson of MACUSA and General Shalikashvili, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

"You are sure of this?" Clinton asks.

"Absolutely. Our sources have confirmed that both Voldemort and Dumbledore are starting to search beyond British borders for Harry. And not just via intelligence. They are sending people out after him. Right now, their efforts are confined to Europe, but I feel it won't be long until they turn their attention to the US," Smithson says. He pauses, then says, "In addition, with Harry and Hermione starting school, and Harry signing to play with the Gulls, it won't be long before they know he's here."

Clinton nods, then looks at General Shalikashvili. "John, I think it's time we move from training to real world. I cannot put this on official records, so I'm just telling you in person, and I expect this not to be put on official records: I am clearing you to begin taking orders from President Stevenson. The military is cleared to begin armed combat against hostile wizarding forces in Great Britain."

"Understood, Mr. President," the General responds. Already, the Joint Chiefs had prepared for this eventuality. Several Air Force squadrons had been undergoing training exercises to be ready for combat against magical forces, and the Navy had a Los Angeles class attack submarine and Arleigh Burke class destroyer off the UK's coast, ready to begin combat operations if necessary.

"This is it, gentlemen. Things are about to get serious," Smithson adds somberly, and Clinton and Shalikashvili just nod.

And, I'll end the chapter there.

So, a lot of stuff I wrote about how the American magical school system and how the American Quidditch league operate is based off of how things work in the Muggle world, since we know that Hogwarts operates somewhat similar to the British school system. Obviously, in canon, we don't know about how Ilvermorny's classes work, how big the US Quidditch league is, or if they have a minor league. These are all my creations for this story. I also chose St. George, Utah as the sight for a minor league team given there's a lot of open space surrounding St. George where a Quidditch stadium could be located.

Alright. Next chapter will be up in a bit. Until it is up, please leave a review, and stay tuned!
