Chapter Hundred-thirty-seven
A New Day Dawns! The Time of the Monkey King Begins!
It had been two days since Majin Boo's defeat. The Earth and her people had been through their greatest calamity yet and, with the entire Earthly race banding together, they had defeated their enemy. The sun was rising on a new era for mankind and the planet seemed to hum with energy. Mostly because it was humming. Three rings of color sped around the planet; One blue, one gold, and one white. The three most powerful beings on Earth were having a race.
"Don't say it," Vegeta growled through gritted teeth as he put on more speed, his feet kicking up sea spray even as he felt the seemingly-inevitable energy rushing up from behind him. "Don't you say it!"
"On your left!" Gohan shouted as he sped past them, already disappearing over the horizon by the time his voice reached their ears.
"Oh, come on!" Goku shouted in frustration, letting out a cry of effort as she put on another burst of speed to try and catch up with her son. No Instant Transmissions, that had been the rule.
The three Saiyans eventually came to a stop on one of the small islands off the coast of the Southern continent, with Vegeta and Goku noticeably more ragged than Gohan. "Alright," Vegeta panted as he wiped sweat from his forehead and pushed himself to his feet, "That's enough of a warmup, it's time for some real exercise," he told Gohan as he cracked his knuckles.
Gohan looked at his phone and gave an apologetic wince in response. "Ah, sorry, can't stick around," he told them, "They reopened school today, so I gotta go get ready. But, hey, thanks for the run!" he said sincerely before a smirk curled onto his lips. "If you wanna call that running."
"Oh, that's how you're gonna talk to me?" Goku asked jokingly, her eyebrows jumping up in surprise.
"Yup," Gohan responded with a smirk. Then he waved and put his fingertips to his forehead, vanishing. Goku just laughed and shook her head. While she knew that Gohan had always had the potential to be the strongest of them, she'd never imagined he could be so calmly confident. It was nice to see that her son finally seemed to be comfortable in his own skin.
"I can't believe he's the strongest again," Vegeta muttered under his breath, with a tone that was just as impressed as it was incredulous.
"Yep," Goku acknowledged as she hopped to her feet. "Just means we gotta work that much harder to catch up! You ready?" she asked as she got into the same stance from the very first time she and Vegeta had fought.
With a smirk, he did the same, assuming his original stance. "I feel like the score should be two to one in my favor," he pointed out, "Considering how I defeated Ginyu when he was in your body."
"That doesn't count!" Goku protested. "You said it yourself, that was Ginyu, not me."
"Tell you what," Vegeta retorted, "If you beat me, then it doesn't count." Goku flashed a toothy grin and struck, attacking her seemingly-friendly rival with a flying kick.
OoOoOoO
An hour later, Vegeta groaned as Goku lent him a hand to pull him out of the crater. "Fine," he grumbled, "Ginyu doesn't count." He brushed himself off with a huff and cracked some of the stiffness out of his neck.
"Hey," Goku asked suddenly, "When did you start training Trunks?"
"Not that long ago," Vegeta admitted, "Perhaps a month before the Budoukai. Why?"
"I was thinking about taking over Goten's training from Gohan," she explained, "I just wanted to know how much catching up me and her had to do." Vegeta nodded thoughtfully.
"You know, Kakarot," he said, "It occurs to me that their training might be more effective if they were to spar against each other more often, given how powerful they became in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber."
"You mean like playdates?" Goku asked, drawing a grimace from Vegeta.
"As long as you never refer to them as such in my presence again," he muttered,"...Yes." Goku gave Vegeta a toothy grin and gave him a hearty clap on the back, much to his annoyance. Although he wasn't nearly as annoyed as he thought he should be. Was this what it was going to be like, he wondered? Being friends with Kakarot? The idea made him shudder.
OoOoOoO
As soon as Gohan walked into his first class that day, he felt everyone's eyes on him, from the students all the way in the back of the room to the teacher himself. "Okay," he sighed as he went to take his seat, "Go ahead and say–" he'd barely had a chance to give them his permission before the questions were flying hard and fast.
"How'd you get so strong?!"
"How come you can fly?!"
"Why does your hair change color?!"
"Was that your mom who was fighting Boo?!"
"How the heck did the guy who makes designer shirts get that strong?!"
"Guys, guys!" Gohan cried out, holding his hands up in a defusing manner. "Look, I'll answer all that stuff later, but there just isn't time right now! Especially with the classwork we need to catch up on… right, professor?" he asked, hoping that the heavily-mustachioed walrusman would throw him a lifeline.
The professor looked at his notes, adjusted his comically-small spectacles, and then looked at Gohan. "Honestly," he confessed, "There's nothing in my lecture for today nearly as interesting as all of that. Especially in light of recent events. The floor is yours, Mr. Gohan."
'So much for lifelines,' Gohan thought in annoyance, feeling the entire classroom turning to stare at him with bated breath. With slight reluctance, Gohan moved from his desk and walked to the front of the class, as if he were about to give a book report aloud or something. 'It's fine,' he told himself, 'Normal's overrated,' he added, remembering Videl's words. After a moment to collect his thoughts and figure out where to start, he spoke. "So… my mother's not from Earth," he began.
OoOoOoO
It had been about one week since Majin Boo had been defeated. Since everything had changed, Suno thought to herself. Her first instinct was to describe things as "back to normal", but she knew that was wrong. The world had seen them know, was aware of who they were and what they could do. There was no way they could pin all this on Hercule or try to sweep it under the rug. "Normal" simply wasn't going to be a thing for a very long time. So, deciding to embrace that, Suno had taken a leave of absence from her job. There had been a lot of crying and pleading from the kids in her class and more than a few tears shed on her own part, but this was something that Suno simply knew she needed to do.
For one thing, they didn't really need the money. Between her winnings as the Budoukai champion and the vast sum of money left over from what had been given to them by the Masters Foundation, the Son family would be pretty set financially for a while. For another, what Suno mostly needed was time. There simply wasn't enough with everything she wanted to do and teach. First of all, she was finally going to sit down and really get to work on that book about the Odori style. With the world really becoming aware of ki and what it could do for the first time, there was more of a reason for her to publish it than ever. And, as Bulma had told her, there was a market for it. Second of all, Suno was continuing her lessons with Videl, which had been a surprise to herself when Videl had shown up with Gohan one day after school for training.
"Are you sure?" Suno'd asked her. "The Budoukai's over, you don't have to keep coming to me. You're more than capable enough as a fighter to keep training on your own."
"But I want to keep learning from you!" Videl had insisted with a fire in her eyes. "I want to continue my training and keep growing stronger. I only just figured out how to fire a Kamehameha! Besides, you can teach me Kaiouken!"
"I can help with that!" Goku added, and the squee of excitement that had practically burst out of Videl had been impossible for the girl to contain. Well, how could Suno say no to that?
Third of all, Suno suddenly had even more students, with some of Gohan and Videl's classmates showing up at her house, plus Shouronpo, as well as some kids from Jingle Village, who'd apparently been sent to her by Mari and Timus for further training. It would have been nice if they'd called and asked her first, though… This meant that Suno had to divide up her time for when she could train who, since obviously Videl and the Odori students had much more skill and training than Gohan's classmates– particularly that Erasa girl. So now she was teaching a beginner class and an advanced class, although thankfully Goku was more than willing to step in and help with the training every now and then.
But most importantly of all, Suno thought as she beached her sailboat on Kame Island, she had her own training to attend to. She hopped out of the boat and walked up to the front door, knocking on it. Even if she knew Roshi well enough that she didn't need to knock, you didn't just barge in on people. Especially Roshi.
"I'm comin', I'm comin'!" the old master called from inside the house. Suno snickered as little as she heard the grunts of old man movements and the rhythmic tapping of his cane in time with the soft flapping of sandals. Soon enough, Roshi came into view and opened the screen door. "Oh, Suno! What're you doin' here?" he asked curiously.
"Many years ago," Suno told him, "You told me that my chakras were better aligned to be a healer than a warrior."
"Yeah," Roshi said with a laugh as he ran a hand over his bald head in embarrassment, "Sure look like an idiot for that one, don't I?" To his surprise, Suno shook her head.
"I told you at the time that there were things I still needed to do and that my time would be better served in getting stronger than learning something else. But I'm finally past that now," she explained as she brought her hands together. "And I'm ready to learn, Master." With that, Suno bowed to him and, with a warm smile, Roshi bowed in return.
"You know," he told her, "Those might be my favorite four words in the English language. It would be my honor to teach you," he replied.
One Year Since Majin Boo's Defeat
The air sang and crackled with energy as Goten and Trunks collided in another flurry of blows. On the island below them, Goku and Vegeta sat back in their beach chairs and watched attentively, calling out coaching tips and instructions.
"Keep your guard up, Goten!" Goku shouted to her daughter. "Don't let him slip that jab through again! Search for openings and counter!"
"Press the advantage, Trunks!" Vegeta bellowed. "I want to see more ferocity! Kick her in the face!" Goku shot him a look but Vegeta just shrugged. "Didn't you get kicked in the face when you were sparring with the bald one?" he asked.
"I mean… yeah," Goku conceded. Besides, she'd been older than Goten was now when she'd started training under Master Roshi. Which was still crazy to think about. She couldn't believe how strong these kids were already!
"Super Saiyan 2," Vegeta muttered, clearly having the same train of thought, "And they're not even ten years old!"
"Yep," Goku agreed nonchalantly, fingers threaded together and resting on her stomach.
"They're going to be stronger than us," Vegeta pointed out, not sure if he should be proud or annoyed.
"Yep!" Goku agreed, definitely proud.
"That doesn't bother you, Kakarot?" Vegeta asked, bewildered. Goku just shook her head.
"We're not going to be around forever, Vegeta," she pointed out. "It's a good thing that our kids are this powerful and that they'll keep getting stronger. It means they won't have to rely on us. We just have to make sure we guide them and keep them responsible with their power."
Vegeta had to admit that Kakarot had a point and yet… and yet it went against his entire Saiyan nature to be glad that someone was stronger. He supposed it made sense, given that he was stronger as a child than his own father had been as an adult, but the former King clearly hadn't liked that all that much himself.
"It's the burden of being a master," Roshi said to them both as he walked out of Kame house, apparently hearing both their conversation and their thoughts. "We are what they grow beyond." Goku and Vegeta nodded as Roshi handed each Saiyan a beer and sat down between the two of them on his own beach chair. The three clinked their beers together in a sort of toast and went back to watching the children fight.
OoOoOoO
Bulma sat down heavily in her chair, letting it swivel idly in a circle as she shimmied out of her lab coat with a sigh. Not one of exhaustion as much as one of… boredom. Her new nanites had finished their last testing phase last month and would begin circulation by the end of the year, ensuring safe and fast emergency medical treatment for people all over the world. Reconstruction efforts were well underway for any cities that had received lasting damage from Boo's rampage and that giant plastic island out in the ocean was finally gone. She was actually starting to run out of new ideas and plans for tinkering. She just felt… done.
"Is this it?" she asked herself as she rolled the stem of a wineglass between her fingertips. "Have I… peaked? Before I'm forty?" It was starting to feel like she had. As happy as she was that everything was stable in her home life with Vegeta having calmed down considerably and spending more time with her and Trunks, she felt… stagnant. "And when Bulma saw the breadth of her domain, she wept, for there were no more worlds to conquer," she muttered sarcastically under her breath. But then a lightbulb went off in her head. No more worlds? Bulma had been to space! There were plenty of worlds! In fact… Bulma spun around in her chair to face her desk again, digging through her desk drawers to find the small golden pin that Flash Parsec had given her years ago to contact the Galactic Federation. With a grin and a sudden feeling of rejuvenated energy like she'd just slammed a mug of coffee, she pushed the call button. Her grin widened as a blue light flashed and she was greeted with a holographic representation of an alien figure.
"This is the Galactic Federation helpline," the four-armed, red-skinned, orange-eyed being greeted Bulma. "How may I direct your call?"
"Hi," Bulma replied as she steepled her fingers. "My name's Bulma and I represent the planet Earth. Maybe you've heard of us? I'm calling to accept an invitation to join the federation's ranks as Earth's representative in the Senate." Oh, yeah. The universe was full of possibilities.
Two years Since Majin Boo's Defeat
"So that's where I am," Goku explained. "I've taught them everything I know about Fusion, but there are some questions they have that I still don't know the answer to. Do you think you can help them out?"
"I'm sorry, Goku," Polimer the Metamoran replied, "But there's nothing I can do. I'm dead, remember?" With that, he took a long sip of his boba tea.
"Aw, come on, Poli!" Goku retorted, the two of them standing on Other World as other long-dead fighters were around them either lounging or sparring. "You're one of the good guys, right? Or else you wouldn't have ended up here! Did you use your twenty-four hours to come back to life already?"
At the mention of such a thing, Poli inhaled several pearls through his straw, dropping his cup and convulsing as he tried to clear his throat before Goku whacked him in the back, sending the pearls flying like buckshot. "My what?!" he exclaimed.
"What, nobody ever told you about that?" Goku asked.
"No!" he replied vehemently.
"Oh… you wanna come to Earth with me, then?"
"If I only have so much time that I can spend with the living again, why would I spend them on your planet?" the short, purple-skinned alien asked irately.
"I mean… you've been dead for ten thousand years, right? Isn't your family all dead by now?" Goku asked somewhat-callously. Polimer had to admit that this was true. Metamorans only lived for about thirty Earth-years, thirty-five if they were lucky.
"Still…" Polimer said reluctantly, hemming and hawing as he rubbed his jaw.
"Just for a couple of hours?" Goku pleaded. "Then I'll bring you straight to Metamora and you can spend the rest of the day there! Please?"
"Alright," he conceded, "I suppose that's fair."
OoOoOoO
"So you're the person who taught mommy how to do the Fusion Dance?" Goten asked in wonderment when Goku brought her and Trunks out to meet the strange visitor. Some patches of his skin were a lighter shade of purple than others, and his eyes were red, which was a little creepy… but he seemed friendly!
"Yes," he replied with a pleasant smile, "My name is Polimer. It's a pleasure to meet both of you."
'He looks kinda weird,' Trunks thought to Goten, which earned him a bonk on the back of the head. "Owww! Hey!" Trunks exclaimed, rubbing the raised bump on his noggin.
'Trunks!' Goten thought sternly. 'Be nice!' Trunks just grumbled and rolled his eyes.
"Well then…" a very confused Polimer began, "Goku says you have some questions about Fusion? May I see how you perform the Fusion Dance?" The pair nodded eagerly and got into their starting positions.
"Fuuu...sion! Ha!" There was a blinding light when their fingertips touched and when it faded, Gotenks was standing before them as Goku beamed proudly at the sight, as she did whenever she saw their fusion. She was so proud of them! They'd really gone above and beyond in taking her brief lessons to heart.
"What's up, everybody!" Gotenks declared excitedly as they puffed out their chest. "Gotenks is back!"
"Amazing!" Polimer exclaimed with delight. "Just incredible! You… you really are a perfect fusion! The synchronicity of the dance, how perfectly proportioned you are, your power! That can only come from serious practice, and from two participants with a strong bond that care deeply for each other." Gotenks, shockingly, blushed. "But what seems to be the problem? I don't see what you could need help with," he admitted.
"Well, Gotenks explained, "Right now, I'm fine. The problem is when I do this!" They emphasized "this" by hunching forward, their brow furrowing in concentration, and with a roar of energy, they powered straight up to Super Saiyan 3 from their base state. Goku's smile only widened as she watched them while Polimer's legs practically turned to jelly and he struggled to stay upright.
"I… ah… wha… you…" he stammered out articulately.
"Pretty cool, right?" Gotenks asked as they ran a hand through their absurdly long hair. "But whenever I do this," they explained, "I only have five minutes before I stop existing! But I'm supposed to get half an hour! It's not fair!" With that, Gotenks powered down to their base state, not wanting to disappear just yet.
"A-and…" Polimer stuttered, managing to collect himself, "Is this… something that either of your fusion halves is capable of normally?"
"No," Gotenks said, "They just saw Goku do it once," they pointed a finger at Goku, who just grinned, "And Goten figured out that I'd be able to do it since I can pretty much do anything."
"That is true," Polimer conceded, "The abilities of the Metamoran fusion are nearly limitless, but that doesn't mean they're all-powerful. If a fusion attempts to do something that neither of its parts can do, it will have to draw on the life energy of the Fusion itself, essentially burning up time for power."
"Oh…" Gotenks said solemnly, staring at their feet. So turning Super Saiyan 3 didn't just drain their energy, it sort of… killed them. That scared Gotenks. They'd never really been scared before.
"But there's an easy workaround for this," Polimer assured them, trying to lift the Fusion's spirits. "If the two halves of you keep training and are able to obtain this power, you'll be able to maintain it with far less stress on your physical form."
"And I'll get even stronger!" Gotenks realized, grinning excitedly at the prospect. It made so much sense! Why hadn't they thought of that before?
"Not only that," Polimer added, "But if you train while fused, when you separate again, Goten and Trunks will be stronger as well."
"That's awesome!" Gotenks exclaimed. "Thanks, dude!"
Polimer held up a hand. "Oh, no need to thank me. The pleasure's all mine. Now then," he turned to Goku, "I believe you said you'd give me a lift?"
"Oh, yeah," Goku assured him as she put a hand on his shoulder. "No problem!"
"Hey, Goku!" Gotenks declared excitedly. "When you get back, let's spar!" They'd never felt this full of energy before!
Goku grinned and gave them a thumbs-up. "Sure thing!" As she transported Polimer to Metamora, however, Goku knew that she'd have to power up to at least Super Saiyan 2 to fight Gotenks fairly. Maybe even 3! 'The burden of being a master,' she thought to herself wryly. But she didn't really mind that much. It was exciting to have this much of a challenge again!
Three Years Since Majin Boo's Defeat
Gohan felt like his stomach was full of butterflies. No, something more than butterflies. Bees, maybe. Or hornets. Yeah, that was it. A whole hive full of hornets that had been shaken up like a soda and then rammed into his gut.
On the surface, he knew that there was nothing that should cause these feelings. It was a clear, cloudless, star-filled night and both he and Videl were lying back on Nimbus, taking in the view as it leisurely puttered around the globe. School was finished, they'd graduated with honors, everything was fine! The world was as calm and the future as clear as a crystal blue lake. But Gohan was about to drop something into that lake that could either send out some small ripples– or make a tidal wave.
'Enough with the metaphors,' he told himself, 'You can do this!' He swallowed one last time to summon his courage and shifted slightly, moving one arm from behind his head. "Uh, Videl?" he said softly.
"Mmhmm?" she asked, nestled against Gohan's chest and slowly pushing herself up when he spoke, propping up on one elbow. She was admittedly a little perturbed by this since Gohan was so warm and she'd been really comfortable, but she knew that whatever he had to say would be worth listening to.
"I know this is probably really sudden, and early, and we're really young," Gohan rambled, half-sounding like he was trying to talk himself out of this already, "But I… I really care about you, and I feel something for you that I've never felt for anyone else in my life. I just… I want to be with you and I don't ever want to be without you," he said, still fumbling with his words. God, he really should have written this down. Meanwhile, Videl was just staring at him, her eyes widening as she started to piece together what Gohan was trying to say. "I guess what I'm saying is," Gohan finally managed as he rolled over and got onto his knees, one hand reaching into a pants pocket and drawing out a small box. "Videl Satan, will you marry me?" But he'd barely had a chance to open the box and reveal the square-cut opal sitting on a silver band– something that Gohan thought complimented her eyes better and just looked nicer than a run-of-the-mill diamond– before Videl tackled him, sending both of them tumbling off the cloud. "Videl!" he screamed as they plummeted down to the ocean. "Are you crazy?!"
"Yes!" she screamed excitedly. "Yes, yes, oh my God, yes!" Gohan had the presence of mind to realize that Videl wasn't talking about her state of mind before they hit the water. They came up out of the sea and washed up on an island, though Gohan surfaced a few moments before Videl did.
"Y-you know," Gohan panted as he went to help Videl up, "You could have just said Yes without–" but then Videl was tackling him again. "Videl, what the heck?!"
"C'mere, you!" Videl told him, hands fumbling with wet clothes.
"W-wait, hold on, I don't have a–"
"Less talking, more gold hair!"
"A-are you sure about–"
"Kaiouken!"
"...Whoa," Gohan murmured in surprise. Then, his Saiyan blood pumping, he actually gave Videl a grin of his own. "Okay, you asked for it!"
OoOoOoO
The ceremony had been beautiful. To the shock of absolutely no one, Hercule spared no expense in making sure that his "little girl's special day" was nothing short of spectacular. A full band (including Ocha, whose true musical calling and instrument had turned out to be the flute, not the violin as his mother had once insisted), plenty of food– even for four Saiyans– elaborate and lavish decorations, a fireworks display to cap off the night, the works. He and Bulma had actually pooled their resources to rent an entire island for the day. All in all, both Videl and Gohan thought it was more than a little much but they hadn't really felt comfortable turning down the gesture, either.
Although Kami had been the one to officiate Goku and Suno's own wedding, Gohan had been somewhat hesitant to ask Dende to continue the small tradition, unsure of what the younger God's feelings would be on the matter. While he found out later that Dende would have been more than happy to do the honors, Bulma swooped in and decided to take that on for herself and Dende had to settle for being a groomsman.
"Gohan wouldn't even exist without me," Bulma rationalized when asked why she'd been so eager to take on the job. "I was literally there when he was born. If anyone's gonna see him get hitched, it'll be me!" Gohan wasn't sure if he should be touched or embarrassed by Bulma's eagerness but he supposed it wasn't that much of a bother.
Of course, all of their friends had attended. Including friends from school and from their hometowns. Piccolo had even come back from New Namek, though no one was really surprised about that one. What was a surprise was the number of alien dignitaries who wound up at the wedding to offer their respect and congratulations. Apparently, the Son family was famous on a cosmic scale. That was… something to wrap your head around. The more knowledgeable of those dignitaries were pretty surprised at the presence of Xibito and Pracya, though.
When it came right down to it, though, Gohan didn't really care about how elaborate the set-up was or who was there to tell him when they could kiss or even who attended. All he could really focus on was Videl in her white, lace dress, her veil covering her face and a white bow on the small of her back, looking like the very definition of beauty.
"I vow to cherish you," Gohan had told her, getting lost in her eyes. "To protect you and comfort you. To help you grow stronger, to tend to you when you are ill or weary. To listen to you and to grow with you and to always be grateful that you are by my side. To give every last ounce of my energy and to give my life to you. This I vow, for I am yours and you are mine."
"I vow to cherish you," Videl had answered back, "To protect you where I can, to give you comfort and strength and support, always. To have your back, to stand by your side, no matter what. To love you and care for you with all that I am and all that I will ever be. This I vow, for I am yours and you are mine."
"By the power vested in me by King Giran and the Galactic Federation," Bulma had told them as she held back her tears, "I now pronounce you man and wife. Get to smoochin'!"
This time, it was Gohan who took the initiative, wrapping an arm around Videl's waist and kissing her deeply, holding her to his chest like he would never let go. He could feel her heart beating in time with his, mesmerized by the metronome-like perfection of it all. He was reminded of a book his mother had read to him when he was little. "Since the invention of the kiss, there have been five that were rated the most passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind." Well, this was it. It was the truest of true love's kisses since the beginning of time. It was every poem ever written and every song ever sung.
For Gohan's money, anyway.
They'd both cried. Suno had cried, Goten had cried, Bulma cried, the groomsmen and bridesmaids. Hercule, Miguel, Krillin, Yamcha, Chi-Chi… even Vegeta and Trunks would admit to getting a little misty-eyed. And Piccolo most definitely cried. And this time, he wasn't ashamed to admit it.
Shouronpo had caught the bouquet. Knowing what that meant, Trunks had puffed out his chest and tried to look cool. She'd smacked him in the face with the flowers and then Goten bonked him in the back of the head, although she didn't give an explanation as to why when he demanded one. Gohan and Videl had just laughed. They laughed and smiled and danced the whole night away. He knew that they were young and that they had their whole lives ahead of them but, well, Gohan couldn't imagine his life getting any better than this.
Four Years Since Majin Boo's Defeat
"Hey, Goku," Suno said idly as she and Goku lay in bed, alone for the evening. Goten was having a sleepover at Trunks' with Marron and Kani and Videl had their own place now, so for the first time in a while, they had the house completely to themselves.
"Yeah?" Goku answered, her hands running through her wife's bright red hair, wrapping a lock of it around and around one finger.
"I've been thinkin'," Suno told her, moving slowly from the bed and away from her wife's embrace. Goku couldn't help but whine a little when Suno pulled away, even if it did afford her a better chance to admire her figure as he walked to the closet. "I know it's been a while," she continued as she rummaged through the closet, "But I think it might be time to bust this out again?" she turned around and Goku saw that she was holding a box. A very familiar box. Goku grinned widely and Suno could see her almost buzzing with energy, which made her laugh a little. "Wait," she told her as she held up a finger. "I was thinking this time… we could try something a little different…"
