I'm feeling a bit too lazy right now to write a summary or explanation. The story will explain itself as it goes on anyway so no point in me wasting both of our time.
Basically, this is a Percy Jackson and Star Wars crossover. Why? I was bored and the idea popped in my head.
There will be very few callbacks to the Percy Jackson series, this is essentially a purely Star Wars fanfic.
I hope you enjoy it!
Just one more thing, I will not be acknowledging The Acolyte as a genuine Star Wars Story in this fic. Without stating my true, very harsh thoughts on the show, I will just say it is not worth the time.
Location: Tatooine in the Outer Rim
Time: The Phantom Menace - Leaving Tatooine
3rd POV
"Anakin! Get down!" Qui Gon yelled, unsheathing his lightsaber to meet their assailant head-on. Young Anakin barely managed to duck down in time to avoid being decapitated by a speeder. The mysterious assaulter unsheathed his own lightsaber, catching the two Jedi present by surprise. Even more surprising was the color, a red blade, the color of the Sith.
But they didn't have time to worry about that now. As Qui Gon's green blade met red, Obi-Wan made haste to prepare the ship for take off.
"Run Anakin! Get to the ship and tell them to go!" The young boy did as he was told, his head spinning from everything that had happened in the past day alone.
Obi-Wan, who had heard his master, was already one step ahead. He ordered the queen's guards to take off but keep close to the ground. Of course, not before grabbing their new companion into safety.
Believing him to be distracted, the suspected Sith lunged once again at Qui Gon, trying to take him by surprise. However, the Jedi was not called a master for no reason and swiftly blocked the strike. His opponent kept striking, swinging his blade around with hunger and ferocity. Wishing to cut this battle short, Qui Gon deflected the red saber into the sand before using the force not only to blast himself toward the ship but also to create a cloud of dust between him and the strange villain.
He succeeded in one of his plans, at least, as he launched toward the ship's open door. However, his method of distraction wasn't nearly as effective. Perhaps he had underestimated his opponent, or they were simply more powerful than they let on, but either way, it mattered little. The hooded figure was right behind Qui Gon and knocked him out of the air before he could grab onto the moving ship.
"Master!" Obi-Wan called out in worry. The padawan grabbed his lightsaber and was about to jump off the ship to his master's aid but just as his feet left the plank, he was knocked back into the ship by a force push. He whipped his head around angrily, trying to find who but to no avail.
Back on the ground, Qui Gon quickly regained his bearings, bringing his lightsaber up just in time to block a downward strike from the Sith. The Jedi's teeth ground together, exerting as much power as he could to fend off the interlocked blades. But then, he heard it. A voice in his head he could barely recognize, but one that brought great relief nonetheless.
Duck
Qui Gon did as he was told and the results explained themselves.
Maul was experiencing a thrill he had not felt in ages. Locked in a duel against one he saw as an inferior opponent. He even had this "Jedi Master" on the run.
Maul added more strength to the blade lock, pushing the Jedi back and nearly to his knees. Excitement filled his being as he would be subject to a revelation that would send ripples throughout the galaxy. The Sith would reemerge and the first sighting would also bring the death of a Jedi Master.
But just as he was about to press even harder, the Sith assassin noticed something. The Jedi's no longer held any worry or struggle. And before he could even question it, the Jedi broke off from their blade lock, rolling to the side. Maul was about to pursue be he suddenly sensed the presence of another being. One moving fast.
He looked up, blade ready to cut down the newcomer but all he saw was a fist coming toward his face before everything went black.
Qui Gon watched as his assailant was sent flying, several sand dunes away. He took a second before he sighed in relief, now fully recognizing the figure that had come to his aid.
Before him stood a young man, looking to be in his early 20s at most. He had untamable raven-black hair with a single streak of silver hair above his forehead. He had bright sea-green eyes that seemed to swirl if you looked deep into them, sun-kissed skin with hardly a single blemish aside from the occasional light scar, and a fine 6'1 physique that could make any species flush with envy.
He wore brown combat boots, black many-pocket cargo pants, and a dark blue hooded tunic with silver stitchings along the edge. He carried no weapon and the only accessory he wore was a beaded necklace, each with a different color and design etched upon its small surface.
"You know…" the young man spoke with a lopsided grin. "You would think an esteemed Jedi Master like yourself would be a bit more competent in a sword fight. I mean, it is the only weapon you lot train with, ever."
He lent his hand to Qui Gon who took it and got up. "Not the time," the Jedi grumbled. "But I am grateful to see you. It has been a while, Perseus. How have you been?"
Percy just shrugged, the grin not leaving his face. "Oh just jumping around, doing anything interesting to keep me occupied. How about you? The last time I saw you, you were still just a kid under that grumpy long-faced weasel."
Qui Gon frowned slightly at the comment. "Now Perseus, why do you feel the need to say such thin-"
"You know what?" Percy interrupted. "Let's continue this on your ship. They're circling back around and I doubt you have the equipment to hold the red sword dude."
He was right, of course. The Queen's ship was flying low, allowing them to jump on quickly and leave the unsavory planet. While Qui Gon would have liked to arrest the assailant, it was simply outside their current ability. The ship was not equipped with the restraints needed for a force user, nor did the present Jedi have any. It would also have been a blatantly stupid decision to bring the Sith with them, putting both the child and the queen in danger.
As the two finally boarded, Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Jar Jar all rushed over. "Are you alright?" Anakin asked. Qui Gon nodded assuringly to the child. "I am quite alright, thanks to my friend there." He glanced at Percy quickly before his padawan's questions regained his attention.
"What was it?" Obi-Wan inquired. While he was interested in who his master's mysterious friend was, this was the more pressing matter at hand. "I am not sure." Qui Gon stated grimly. "But it was well trained in the Jedi arts. My guess is it was after the queen."
"What are we going to do about it?" Anakin, the ever-eager child asked. But as much as the master recognized and appreciated their new companion's urge to help, this wasn't a topic appropriate for such a young one's ears.
"We shall be patient," Qui Gon stated before shifting the topic to lighter, much-needed introductions. "Anakin Skywalker, meet Obi-Wan Kenobi." Obi-Wan kindly outstretched his hand which Anankin excitedly shook.
"You're a Jedi too?!" The kid practically had stars in his eyes and he radiated excitement. And why wouldn't he? Just a week ago he thought the Jedi were a myth, and now he got to travel with two of them. He was free, he got to meet his childhood heroes, and was basically living out his fantasy. Of course, the feeling of leaving his mother behind sat in the back of his mind, but all of this was more than enough of a distraction. "It's a pleasure to meet you!" Anakin said with a bright grin, still shaking Obi-Wan's hand to the amusement of everyone in the room.
When the child finally stopped shaking the Padawan's hand, he noticed Percy standing to the side which only made his excitement grow. He quickly rushed up to the man and stared up at him in awe. He hadn't seen what had happened all too well since it was too fast for him. But he knew one thing for sure, this guy punched the bad guy in the face hard enough to send him flying. Surely he must be a Jedi too!
"Are you a Jedi too?" Anakin was on the verge of jumping up and down. Much to his disappointment though, Percy just chuckled and shook his head. "No, I'm afraid I'm not a Jedi. My name is Perseus but you can just call me Percy, nice to meet you Anakin."
Percy stretched out his hand which Anakin once again shook with vigor. Even though Anakin was a bit disappointed by the answer, he still thought Percy was really cool. Seeing the kid's mood fall a bit though, Percy leaned down and whispered into Anakin's ear.
"Don't worry kid, I'm way stronger than any Jedi."
He made sure to whisper quietly enough so the two Jedi in the room wouldn't hear, but judging by the slight smirk on Qui Gon's face, he knew what Percy said regardless. Anakin, on the other hand, just looked up at Percy disbelievingly. There was no way someone was stronger than a Jedi! You would need to be a Jedi to be stronger than one!
But Percy could tell nonetheless, that even though the kid didn't quite believe him, he had successfully rekindled that curiosity and excitement.
Obi-Wan's curiosity was becoming harder to contain. He was practically drilling a hole into the head of the newcomer but kept to himself while they were in their present company.
The queen had requested an audience with the newcomer who had helped protect them from a potentially terrible villain. In the queen's chambers were Percy, Qui Gon, Obi-Wan, Captain Panaka, the queen's handmaidens, and of course, the queen herself.
"Perseus, I believe was your name, correct?" The queen addressed the man before her.
"Yup," Percy answered, his hands in his pockets.
A couple of people in the room bristled at the casual tone when addressing the queen, specifically Captain Panaka and one of the handmaidens, Padme Amidala. Percy paid them no attention.
The queen showed no reaction to his tone, however, and simply nodded before she continued. "Then, Perseus, I would like to take this time in order to thank you for your aid in our protection. On behalf of everyone, we extend our gratitude, and should you wish compensation, all you must do is request it. We will do whatever in our power to satisfy your wishes."
Percy raised an eyebrow at the queen's words. After all, he didn't think he did all that much. Qui Gon is the one who fought the Sith, all he did was punch the guy.
The queen was quite generous with what she offered, on top of a humble persona which he hadn't seen in many royals throughout his life. At least, this body double of the queen was quite humble. Percy could only hope that the real queen, disguised as a handmaiden, was of the same sentiment.
He shrugged his shoulders. "It was nothing, I was just helping a friend," Percy said as he turned to walk out. "And don't worry about any compensation. You guys are giving me a ride, consider that my request." The door closed behind him leaving most in the room silent.
Padme made sure to check everyone was asleep before making her way to the comm panel. While she had no reason to distrust the Jedi or their companions, she still felt safer remaining hidden with her body double, whom she was forever grateful for, acting as the queen.
She had received a distress message from the governor who had stayed behind on Naboo but hadn't had the chance to check it till now. She switched on the comm panel and the hologram played.
"The death toll is catastrophic. We must bow to their wishes. You must contact me."
Padme's breath hitched in her throat. The governor was a relatively old man with a white beard and a balding head. He wasn't the bravest of men but he had a strong will and was a trusted member of her council. If what he was saying was true, then the Trade Federation had gone even further than she dared to think. She couldn't begin to imagine the heinous crimes they had committed against her people.
But this was no time for such thoughts. There was also a likely chance that this was a trap laid by the Federation in order to get her to bend to their will. This is why they were traveling to Coruscant. Hopefully, the Republic would grant them the aid they desperately needed.
Padme was broken out of her thoughts by the sound of shuffling to her left. She looked to see a groggy Anakin who appeared to have just woken. The young queen tried to sympathize with the boy but even with all that had happened in the past week, she could easily say he was having a harder time than her. He was in unfamiliar territory now, having never left his planet, and even if he was excited it would be a frightening experience for someone so young.
"Are you alright?" Padme asked. "It's very cold," was the boy's simple reply.
Once again realizing this was his first time in space, she quickly grabbed a blanket from the storage closet and brought it over to tuck him in. "You come from a warm planet, Ani," she said as she sat beside him. "A little too warm for my taste. Space is cold."
But Anakin seemed to not hear her words as he stared into her eyes. "You seem sad," he said.
Padme was slightly taken aback by the comment. Despite his young age, Anakin was quite observant. I guess it should be expected she thought. After all, the Jedi did take an interest in him for a reason.
"The queen is worried," she tried to explain as best she could. "Her people are suffering, dying. She must convince the senate to intervene or…" She didn't want to even think about it. "I'm not sure what will happen."
Noticing her drop in mood, Anakin decided to try and change the subject and cheer her up. "I made this for you, so you'd remember me," he said, grabbing something in his pocket and handing it to the handmaiden. It was a small rectangular amulet with shallow indents on parallel sides. It had small engravings of swirls and stars on its surface and black twine that ran through it so it could be worn. "I carved it out of a japor snippet. It'll bring you good fortune."
Padme couldn't help but smile at the thoughtfulness and innocence of the young boy. It amazed her how someone only a few years younger than herself, who had been raised in such a tough environment, managed to maintain such a kind personality. "It's beautiful," she said as she held it. "But I don't need this to remember you by." This brought a smile to his face as well.
They sat in silence for a second before Padme spoke again. "Many things will change when we reach the capital, Ani." She looked him in the eyes. "But my caring for you will remain."
She knew it would be hard for him to adjust to such a new and overstimulating environment. There wouldn't be anything familiar to him and no matter how excited or ready he thought he was, it would be difficult. She could see him growing tired again so she sat with him, letting him lean his head on her as she enjoyed the silence.
"You're a good queen."
Padme nearly jumped out of her skin, turning quickly to see the one who spoke. Slightly behind them, she could see Perseus standing there with a neutral expression on his face. But she could tell by the slight twinge of his lips that he took amusement in her reaction. She lightly glared at him, until a split second later she realized what he said.
"I-I don't know what you're talking about." She tried to state it firmly but the moment she stuttered she knew her jig was up. This time Perseus allowed his lips to crack a slight smile. "Don't worry, your secret's safe with me, just don't take too long before it's too late to fix things."
Padme looked down, taking in his words. Again, this wasn't something she wanted to think about right now but it was her duty. Anakin entered her mind again as her eyes swept over his sleeping face. "They'll take care of him, right?" She asked. "The Jedi will help him?"
Perseus just shrugged. "I'm not the right person to ask. I have my own gripes with the Jedi and personally, I wouldn't put my faith in them." Padme listened as he spoke, confused but silent as he continued. "But they have done good in the past so I don't see why not. If it comes to it, which I am sure it will, I will personally make sure they treat him well."
He walked off, back into the hall of the ship, leaving Padme confused and not knowing whether to feel reassured or frightened. As far as she knew, the Jedi were the peacekeepers of the galaxy. A renowned organization that was celebrated and held as heroes. Not often did you meet someone who would state they held a dislike for them, especially not openly. And what did he mean he would make sure personally? If it came to it, what could he possibly do against a Jedi?
