I wake instinctively, knowing something is wrong, but what yet I don't know yet. It doesn't take me long to find out though as I sit up on my knees and find two green orbs staring at me in a crouched position.
"Cat?" I whisper. "Are you okay?" I begin to crawl across to him, but he holds up a warning paw. "Stay where you are. And who is this Cat?"
"Adrien, I know you were upset last night, but I thought we worked it out last night. Please, talk to me." "Please, I don't do well with strangers and I don't want to fight you. For your safety, stay where you are."
My voice might be gentle and sweet, my inner voice is screaming that something is wrong, very wrong.
"Aren't you going to call me Bugaboo and meow your breakfast until I relent?" One last try.
I didn't think those grass-green eyes I love so much could harden more, but they do. Tears sting at my own eyes but I have to be strong.
"Emile?" I call out, but only my own voice echoes and bounces around this cave. Am I truly on my own?
"Unless you can jog his memory, he's lost forever," an eerie voice says, and then I see a figure rising from the rocks.
Not caring about my own safety, I give a yell of rage, running towards my unknown foe, yo-yo whirling, my eyes seeing only red. My yo-yo makes it marks, as I knew it would, and I pull tight on the string.
"Who are you, and what have you done to my Adrien?" I yell, my voice as sharp as ice. "He didn't know who was anyway," a woman in a black dress tells me, but my instincts wonder if she is really even human. "You didn't answer my question. Who are you?" "Why, surely you've heard of me, Ladybug," she says. "For sometime in the future, you will recive the same fate as your Cat Noir."
"Answer the question," I growl, my eyes are blue fire. "Amesia," she says. I gasp, my string loosening half a fraction. That means Adrien has lost all memories of me, himself, all our adventures and most of the progress we've made with each other.
Tears threaten to spill over, but I can't. I won't. This is scarier then Cat Blanc, tenfold, for even Cat Blanc loved me. "So, how do I bring his memories back?" Amnesia laughs and I feel it like a hole growing in my heart. You can't bring them back, nor can your Lucky Charm. Only he can bring them back, if he's strong enough. Now, if all your questions are answered, I shall take my leave."
I yank on my string to stop here, but its no use as my string goes slack. It wouldn't matter anyway, she's a emotion, a disease.
For the first time since I lost the Miraculous to Monarch, I feel truly alone, and I am. But I'm not going to give up, starting now.
"May I ask you for a favor?" My voice once again takes on that gentle tone, and Cat's eyes dilate a fraction of a inch. He nods. "You will search your pocket for a bracelet? I think you have mine."
Cat does as I ask, holding it up with surprised disgust. "Here," he throws it at me. I breathe a silent thank you. Then I pull out the Horse Miraculous.
"Where do you think your going?" he's by my side instantly, fingers wrapped around my wrist. I look up at him and gasp. He looks absurdly handsome, even in anger. "To save you. I love you, Cat Noir."
"No, you don't. Your just saying that so I'll let you go." But he drops his fingers from my wrist, and I feel so cold, so very cold.
A dozen sneeze want to burst forth as I step into the portal, and into Adrien's old bedroom. My eyes water as I immediately start searching for the things I know could jog Adrien's memory. A picture of his mother, a picture of me.
I kneel down by his bedside desk, tugging on the handle, but its stubborn, wanting to stick. "Oh, please!" I cry aloud, and I use all my strength and the drawer gives way. I tumble backwards, crawling back, searching.
A stuffed sock that faintly resembles Plagg, and I set it aside. A small album of pictures I add, then shut the drawer, now heading to the window.
I doubt tea or cookies will bring back the memory of the one I love, but I always find it calming.
My parents are surprised but overjoyed to see me, and I garble out my story as last the tears can freely slide down my cheeks. "Marinette, if anyone can bring him back, its you. You'll get through this, be strong." I hug and kiss both of them, giving them one last look before re-entering the tunnel.
Cat has revived the fire, and sits warming himself as the embers flare as he pokes them with a stick. "I'm back, Kitty. Did you miss me?"
He doesn't answer, but gives me a long look. What is thinking? Taking a deep breath, I fill the kettle with water, and hang it over the fire. "Would you like some coffee and cookies? Baked fresh." He nods, silently.
I stare into the flares as I wait for the kettle and I see Cat inching closer. Closer, till I feel his warm, sweet breath upon my cheek. I dare not move. He lifts one of his fingers, tracing it down my cheek. My breath hitches and I crave more. "Please don't stop," I whisper.
"I don't intend to. I may not know if you are a danger to me, but you are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen." I lean in close. "Will you let me try something?" "No funny business." I nod, then press my lips to his. He jerks back for a second, then gives in.
