NorLiech: Dance with Me

Lili was standing to the side, watching the people dance. With their masks, she couldn't help but think that they looked like dolls. Stripped of identity, they were merely there for the enjoyment of others.

Her brother had dragged her along to this ball, but it was purely for business. Vash would never come to something like this for pleasure, and Lili could derive no pleasure from this either. She was an accessory, meant to make Vash appear as though he was a family man, but with no wife, people would eventually start to talk, and Lili's reputation would be the one to suffer.

A throat was cleared next to her, and she turned around in alarm. A man was standing there, his hand extended.

"Would you like to dance?" he asked.

Lili hesitated. Her brother always told her to be wary of men, especially ones she didn't know. The fact that he was wearing a mask made her more on edge. However, she did want to dance.

The man noticed her hesitation, and he smiled.

"Relax," he said. "You just look bored. I have no intention to do anything inappropriate. I just wish to ensure that you have at least one pleasant memory of the night."

She couldn't help but giggle, and after a moment's hesitation she accepted his hand, allowing him to whisk her onto the dance floor.

He was very light on his feet, and Lili didn't even need to focus on getting her own feet to follow the appropriate steps. So instead, she tried to focus on her current companion. His dark blue mask only covered the top half of his face, but she could clearly see the deep blue eyes hidden behind the mask. His hair was a light blond, with an errant curl on the side of his head.

Even though most of his face was obscured, she could tell that he was handsome.

The song came to an end, and he pulled away from her, but not without bowing down and brushing his lips across her hand.

"My name is Lucas," he said quietly. "I hope to see you again."

And he was gone, and Lili couldn't help but hope that they did see each other again.

She sighed, calmly sipping the champagne. Once again, her brother had dragged her to a ball, and she was sitting at one of the tables while watching the figures dance.

"May I have this dance?"

Her eyes widened in recognition, and she turned to see a man with familiar blond hair and blue eyes extending his hand. She smiled as she accepted it.

"Yes, you may," she said.
