WalHutt: Dragon Guard
Legends spoke of a handsome prince who was locked in a tower, forever sleeping. Time stood frozen for this prince, and many brave souls – men and women alike – had come for the prince, who could only awaken with a kiss. But standing guard over the tower was a fearsome dragon, who watched over the tower jealously. Many had lost their lives to the dragon.
As the years passed, and as the prince's father passed on the throne to another son, the legend became that – a legend. Half a century had passed since the prince had been locked away, and a decade since the last person came to try and save the prince.
…
Jack's eyes fluttered, before finally opening. He felt as though he had been asleep for a long time. His eyes widened when he saw someone – a man with messy brown hair and bright green eyes – looming over him, and he pulled away with a yelp.
"Who are you?!" Jack demanded. "What are you doing in my chambers?"
The man snorted, and Jack felt enraged that the stranger found the situation amusing.
"Tell me, where do you think you are?" the man asked.
Jack frowned.
"My chambers at Chateau Landirk," he said.
The man shook his head.
"You're in the Tower of Lost Souls," the man said. "You've been asleep for fifty years. Your brother, Jett, is now the king, and it looks like he's ready to step down. His son will be taking over soon."
Jack's breath hitched. This… this couldn't be real. He looked down at his hands, and they didn't look old and wrinkly.
"…You can't remember any of your dreams, can you?" the man asked suddenly.
"My… my dreams?" Jack repeated.
He recalled fantastical dreams, filled with a dragon that was protecting him. He spoke often with the dragon, though he couldn't remember all that he said.
"We were both trapped here, and we only had each other to speak to, but only through our dreams."
Jack's eyes widened.
"You… you're the dragon?" he asked.
The man nodded his head.
"My name's William," he said. "You can call me Will for short. The sorcerer that locked you here, locked me here as well. He was pretty upset with your father, and sought to punish him. The sorcerer separated me from my pack, and bound me to this place with the instructions to not let anyone approach to free you."
Jack was listening intently, and frowned.
"So… what changed?" he asked.
"Your father is long dead," Will said. "And everyone believes this place to just be a legend. I spent a long time searching for a way to get both of us away, and finally managed to turn into a human."
Jack nodded his head.
"So… what now?" he asked.
"If you want to greet your family, I'd be willing to indulge you," Will said. "But you can't return to your former life."
Jack nodded. He realised that he was no longer prince, and he would need to figure out for himself what he would do. But at least he wasn't alone.
The prompt is: 'Person A is a Prince/Princess and is locked away in a tower in a coma, only allowed to be awoken by a kiss. When they wake up, they find Person B on top of them. Person B is, however, the fearsome dragon that can transform into a human and was guarding the tower.'
I don't really by the whole 'princess trapped in a sleep-like state for however many years and only being awoken by a kiss immediately going for the prince who saved her'. Seriously, how would they know they were trapped? If it was me, my first thought would be 'who are you and what are you doing in my room?'.
