NorKor: Keeping Secrets
Norway sighed as he entered the elevator. He had to walk from the hotel to the conference building. It was only about three blocks, but it was still annoying.
"Wait!" Korea shouted.
Norway held the elevator door open, allowing the smaller male to dart in. He panted a bit at the exertion, before he smiled at Norway.
"Thanks," he said.
"You were almost late," Norway said firmly.
Korea leaned forwards and pecked Norway on the lips.
"Almost," he said. "I still made it in time."
Norway smiled. He had told the Nordics that he would rather walk alone, needing the solitude before the meeting, but in truth, he was planning to walk with Korea.
The two of them had been secretly dating for a while now – a few months, actually. They kept it secret because their families could be a bit… intense when it came to things like this. And really, they wanted to see if they could actually have more of a relationship. They didn't want to start a relationship, tell their families, only for the chemistry not to last. But now, they could safely say that they had a proper relationship.
The two held hands in the elevator, and would have continued to hold hands until the bottom, but the elevator came to a stop. They pulled apart just as the doors opened, and Italy shuffled in.
"Oh, buongiorno," Italy greeted.
"Hey Italy," Korea greeted politely.
Norway had his usual blank expression on his face, which was easy to do now, considering how annoyed he was with Italy. Not only for the interruption, but because he was hoping that Italy didn't catch on.
While it was true that Italy had a lot of difficulty reading the atmosphere, as a Romance nation, he could usually pick up on romantic relationships. All it would take was for Norway and Korea to stand too closely together.
Italy and Korea spoke amiably until they reached the ground floor, and once the door opened, Norway decided that he needed to get rid of Italy.
"Hey, Italy," he said, "isn't that Germany and Japan walking out of the building?"
"Really?" Italy asked, standing on tiptoes to try and find his friends. "I need to go."
Italy rushed out, and Norway sighed in relief.
"Thank goodness," he said.
"That was a bit mean," Korea said, though there was a smile on his face.
"Did you want our alone-time interrupted?"
"No, I guess not."
The two started walking towards the conference building, keeping a comfortable distance from each other, in case anyone else would see them together and jump to the (correct) conclusion. It was with some reluctance that they separated at the meeting hall.
"Hey Norge," Denmark greeted. "Did you come in with Korea?"
Norway felt a small stab of panic, but managed to keep his face blank so as not to give anything away.
"We merely arrived at the same time," Norway sighed, sitting down next to Iceland.
"Not for the first time," Iceland said. "Is it just my imagination, or have you and Korea been walking in at the same time for a few months now?"
"It's just your imagination, little brother," Norway said.
They actually noticed it?
Norway glanced towards Korea, who was being questioned about something by China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Japan, Vietnam and Thailand were observing the questioning, and it didn't seem as though Macau had arrived yet.
Korea glanced towards Norway, and it was clear that he was also being questioned about the nature of their simultaneous arrival. Korea seemed to be asking what they should do, and Norway only mouthed 'later'.
Denmark remained persistent in his questioning, and he was soon joined by Finland. Iceland only contributed occasionally, and Sweden remained silent.
Norway had never been so grateful to Germany for calling the meeting to order.
…
"Do you think they're suspicious?" Korea asked.
Norway and Korea had found an empty office for them to discuss the situation with their families.
"I don't know," Norway said. "Maybe. What did they tell you or ask you?"
"They just noticed that we seem to be arriving at the same time all the time," Korea said. "And Taiwan mentioned something about seeing us having lunch the other day."
Norway groaned. Taiwan was friends with Hungary, so of course she would notice something like that.
"I told her that we had a business meeting," Korea said. "Besides, we didn't do anything weird."
It was true. They were very careful not to hug, kiss or hold hands when they were out in public. One never knew who could be lurking nearby.
"Iceland also noticed that we seem to be arriving at the same time," Norway said.
"I wonder…" Korea mused. "Do you think we should tell them?"
Norway was silent for a moment. Their trial period was over, and they didn't have the fear of telling everyone only for it to end a week later anymore. However… Considering how annoying their family members could be, Norway was still a little hesitant.
"What do you think?" Norway asked.
"I don't know," Korea said. "It would be nice not to have to hide. It's getting harder, you know?"
"I know what you mean. I'm just a bit worried about Denmark. He's not going to make things easy."
…
In the end, they decided to tell their respective families. They invited them all out for dinner together, knowing that they wouldn't dare make too much of a scene when they were out in public.
"What do you think this is about?" Finland asked.
"I don't know," China said. "But I hope they come soon."
"Sorry to make you wait."
Everyone quieted down upon hearing Norway's voice, and they turned to see him and Korea standing next to each other. But what caught everyone's attention was the fact that they were holding hands.
"We decided that it's about time we told you," Korea said. "Lukas and I have been dating for the last four months."
The others were silent for a long moment.
"Four months?!" Taiwan shrieked. "How… Why?"
The couple was bombarded with questions, and they answered to the best of their ability, despite how annoying their relatives were being.
The prompt is: 'A & B are in a secret relationship, but after some time it gets harder to hide it. Their friends and family (finally) find out about the relationship, and the reactions are mixed.'
I was also specifically asked for NorKor with this.
Sorry it's a lot later than usual (though still Saturday here with an hour to spare). I'm a bit sick, and the chapter completely slipped my mind until five minutes ago. Sorry!
