Candia: Nightmare

Canada arrived in the meeting room, a bright smile on his face. Since that chaotic conference months ago, he always had a reason to smile brightly at these meetings.

He smiled when he saw a friendly face, and he made his way closer to greet his friend.

"Hi Lovino," he greeted.

Romano continued with what he was doing, and it didn't even look as though he heard him. Canada frowned, but he didn't let it get to him. Perhaps Romano was preoccupied with something.

"Hey, Russia," he greeted as the large nation passed him.

Russia didn't even look behind him.

Canada was starting to panic. This… This reminded him a lot of what it was like before. But no! It was impossible. He wasn't…

He tried to talk to a number of nations, but they didn't hear him. He looked around, growing frantic. Finally, finally, he saw someone that shouldn't ignore him. Someone that would always see him. He made his way over, trying to hide his panic.

"H-hey, Raj," he greeted.

India did the one thing none of the others did: he looked at him. Canada felt a small bubble of joy in his chest. Of course, India wouldn't forget…

"Who are you?" India asked.

The bubble burst. The moment Canada heard the three words he hated most of all, he felt as though his world was shattering. He felt as though he was being swallowed by a black hole. Everyone was growing farther away. Everyone was growing distant…

Canada woke up.

His body was shaking. It was like ice, but it wasn't cold. It was unnaturally hot. His lungs were closed shut. He couldn't breathe, couldn't breathe…

A light was turned on, and Canada flinched as a blurry face came into view.

"Matthew, what's wrong?" the owner of the face asked.

Matthew. His human name. He was being called by name. He wasn't unknown.

Those thoughts managed to calm him a little, and he could breathe easily again. And when he could breathe, he started to sob. India wrapped his arms around him.

"Shh," India shushed. "What happened?"

"I… It was… It was a nightmare," Canada said.

"It must have been some nightmare."

Canada nodded, clinging to the older nation. He could feel the other kiss him on the temple, before he started to sing a song in Hindi. Or maybe it was Sanskrit. Either way, the soothing sounds soon lulled him into sleep again.

The prompt is: 'Post TWMC, Canada has a nightmare that things reverted to the way they were before the spell was cast.' I was also given the option to pick a nation that has a chance with Canada. India's just the one I picked this time.
