IceCan: Comforting Gesture
Canada slumped in his seat, burying his head in his hands. The room had erupted into chaos, all because of conflicting ideas. He'd managed to voice his idea before the argument began, but it didn't even seem as though it was acknowledged. In fact, just after he gave his opinion, someone else immediately added his own opinion without hesitation. Canada's idea wasn't rejected, just treated as though it hadn't been said.
Switzerland, as the host of the meeting, finally stopped all of them. Germany called for a break, embarrassed that he had been caught in the excitement of the argument as well. Canada remained in his seat.
"Aren't you going to take a break?" a voice asked him.
Canada looked up to see Iceland sitting down beside him. Canada shook his head and sighed.
"Actually, I'm wondering if I should just go home," Canada said. "I'm just wasting my time here. No one wants to hear my opinions."
"I do," Iceland said. "And I like your idea to introduce more history programs. I mean, it's important for humans and nations to be familiar with their histories. Maybe that way we can avoid making the same mistakes. Over. And over…"
Canada sighed, shaking his head.
"It's a stupid idea," he moaned. "There's no way that learning about history could help achieve peace."
"Well, it might help if the Middle Eastern nations realise that they're doing the same things that the Europeans were doing a few centuries ago," Iceland said. "You know, make them realise that they're not so different. And I'm sure that everyone has something from the past they would want back. For example, I really miss the days when you followed my every move."
Canada looked up in surprise, and Iceland smiled softly.
"I know you think that no one remembers you," Iceland said. "But I do. And I knew that we'd be more than brothers."
"But… I'm no one important," Canada said.
"Of course you are. You've always been important to me. Hey, why don't we skip the rest of the meeting? They're just going to argue anyway."
Canada hesitated, before nodding his head. It sounded like an idea. And he wanted to know exactly what Iceland meant.
The request was for IceCan where one of them has low self-esteem and the other comforts them. I also tried to get it to be slightly before they become a couple.
