BosWales: Designated

Bosnia felt annoyed with the whole arrangement. He managed to draw the short straw, and he ended up as the designated driver. And his fellow Yugoslavians… Let's just say that they enjoyed their drinks quite a lot. He would prefer to have a few drinks as well, but that wasn't in the cards.

After their fifth round where he was restricted to soda, water or juice, he stood up, muttering something about going to the bathroom. In truth, he really just wanted to get away from the reminder that he couldn't join in their revelry. He sighed as he made his way to the hallway, leaning against the wall.

"Designated driver?"

He opened his eyes, having closed them when he leaned against the wall, and saw familiar green eyes. He could vaguely recognise this as one of England's brothers, but the name didn't come to him.

"How did you know?" he asked.

"Well, you look more annoyed than smashed, and I noticed that you were drinking juice," the other explained.

"Were you watching me?"

The green-eyed nation shrugged.

"I like watching people," the other explained. "And fellow nations tend to attract attention."

"True enough," Bosnia agreed. "By the way, who are you?"

"Wales. And you're Bosnia, correct?"

"Yeah. So, do you usually act as the designated driver for your brothers?"

"Pretty much. I'm the only one mature enough to stick it out the entire night. Anyone else starts drinking after the third round. And once they start, they don't stop until they're kicked out. It gets worse when they start competing."

Bosnia stared at Wales for a moment before he grinned.

"They're going to be busy for a while," Bosnia said. "And it would be tragic if we had to watch them drinking the whole night while we're confined to drinking water and juice. So, why don't we try to find a table for ourselves?"

Wales smiled.

"That sounds like a great idea," he said. "And it might be fun."

Bosnia was pleased. Wales looked as though he would be good company, and it would certainly be better than watching his family getting drunk.

This would most likely be my fate if someone took me out drinking. Alcohol and I aren't good friends.
