"You are, without a doubt, the strangest human ever," Vlad sighed, not for the first time.
The two were lying together on Dylan's bed, with Dylan's head resting on the vampire's chest. The Welshman looked up at him and smiled sheepishly.
"But it's strange," he said. "There's no heartbeat, but I can hear how your chest vibrates when you speak. You also don't breathe. This is really bizarre."
"Most humans would find this strange and unnatural," Vlad pointed out with a sigh.
"But I'm not most humans."
"Clearly."
He allowed the Welshman to grab his wrist gently and place his finger on his pulse point. He couldn't believe that he managed to find a human that was more fascinated than afraid. And furthermore, he didn't expect this human to fill the void caused by centuries of loneliness.
He would wait, and then he would ask Dylan if he was interested in joining him as a vampire. Vlad didn't doubt that Dylan might seriously consider this, considering how curious he was. But for now, Vlad enjoyed the feeling of warmth, and the feeling of Dylan's heartbeat reverberating through his own body.
