Oh, and HuttMol is Chapter 98.

AmeNor: Lavender

Alfred frowned when he heard a few students discussing Pokémon Go in the cafeteria. As a long-time player of Pokémon, it annoyed him a bit that people were acting as though it was a sudden and new creation. And the worst part was that he knew it was just a fad. Soon enough everyone would move on, and once again, they would be ashamed of being associated with the franchise.

He checked his watch, noting that he had about ten minutes to get to his next class. As he crumpled up the papers from his burger, he heard a tune that made him pause. It was in 8-bit, and after a few seconds the tune stopped and he realised that it was a ringtone. But he recognised the tune. He'd been freaked out when he first heard it, and after reading a few creepypastas he definitely knew the song.

Lavender Town.

Of course, that phase had long ago passed, and he understood that the song was just a song. But it was still exciting to hear it, and as a ringtone, no less.

His eyes scanned the area for the owner of the ringtone, and his gaze finally landed on a blond talking on his phone. Alfred quickly disposed of his trash while he waited for the guy to finish, and one he did, he made his way closer.

"Sorry?" he said. "Um… Is your ringtone Lavender Town?"

The blond looked surprised, but nodded his head. Alfred grinned.

"Sweet!" he said. "So, have you played the games, and for how long?"

"Uh, I started in Gen 4…" the blond said hesitantly.

"Really? Sinnoh or the Johto remake?"

"Sinnoh."

"Diamond, Pearl or Platinum?"

"Started Pearl, then with Platinum."

"Great! I started with Gen 1…" Alfred checked the time, wincing when he realised that he had to get to class. "Um, I've got to get to class, but do you think I could have your number so we can talk about it later? I'm part of the local Pokémon League, and I'd like to introduce you to the others, if you want."

"Oh, okay, um…" He looked down at the phone, still in his hand. "What's your name and number?"

Alfred recited all of that to him, and the blond repeated the number, just to be sure.

"Great," he said. "I'm Lukas, by the way."

"Nice to meet you," Alfred said. "Okay, I really got to go. Text me later, okay?"

Lukas nodded as Alfred rushed off. He really hoped that Lukas texted him. It could be hard to find someone who shared your interests, and he wanted to keep people like that close.

Just some of my thoughts when Pokémon Go first got released. One of my friends started a Pokémon League a few years prior to that (we were even registered with the Pokémon Company), and it kind of annoyed me to see the people just following the trend.

Anyway, I actually do have the Lavender Town theme as my ringtone. In high school I got really obsessed with creepypasta and especially Pokémon creepypasta, and when I heard Lavender Town I thought it would make a great ringtone. And I stick with that decision, based on how many people have cell phones and use the ringtones already on the phone. You can be in the supermarket and someone else's phone rings, and you check your phone. It's annoying. With Lavender Town I can know for a fact that it's my phone that's ringing. Whenever I get a new phone, one of the first things I do is transfer the song to the new phone.

I also just wanted to write about a meeting. And my main circle of friends at university was really through a mutual interest in Pokémon.
