Lietmania: Pining

Lithuania got out of the taxi, Poland following him. He looked up at the conference building, knowing that they would be stuck inside for a few hours. For the sake of his sanity, he had a pair of earplugs in his suit's front pocket.

He looked down to check on Poland, who was thankfully ready to go. He was just about to go up the steps when he saw someone else going up, the familiar strawberry blond hair being topped off with a miniature top hat.

Romania.

"Like, what's the…" Poland started to ask, before he seemed to realise where Lithuania's eyes were. He clicked his tongue. "Like, Liet, if you want to stare at him, you can do it inside. Like, we're wasting time here!"

Poland's words snapped Lithuania out of his thoughts, and he blushed when he realised that he was caught staring by Poland. Lithuania quickly cleared his throat before he rushed up the stairs. Poland yelped a bit before following after him.

And once Lithuania entered the building, he almost crashed into Romania.

The other nation jumped in surprise, before he smiled at Lithuania.

"Hey Toris," he said. "You're in a hurry. We still have time, you know."

"Uh, y-yeah," Lithuania said, feeling his cheeks darken. "Um, so, I-I guess we might as well go to the meeting room together."

Lithuania could hear Poland's frustrated sigh from behind him, but that was nothing compared to the apologetic look on Romania's face.

"I'm sorry," he said. "I kind of promised Bulgaria that we'd meet in the foyer."

Lithuania felt himself deflate a bit, but he quickly forced another smile on his face.

"S-sorry then," he said. "I guess I'll see you inside then, huh?"

Romania nodded his head, and Lithuania started walking away, trying desperately not to break into a run. Of course Romania would be waiting for Bulgaria. And, not for the first time, he wondered if there was something between the two of them.

"Like, wait up!" Poland called out as he rushed to catch up to him. "Like, what's your problem?"

"It's nothing," Lithuania muttered.

He was forced to stop in front of the elevator, and Poland sighed in frustration.

"Like, Bulgaria told me that the two of them are just friends," Poland said. "So, like, you don't have to worry about it."

There was a spark of hope when Poland said that, but still, Lithuania couldn't erase the sense of jealousy he felt.

Romania watched Lithuania go, feeling disappointed. He wanted to go with Lithuania, but he promised Bulgaria. And he couldn't help but wonder whether or not Lithuania was angry at him.

"Hey," Bulgaria greeted.

Romania was not going to admit that he almost jumped out of his skin. He whirled on his friend, who arched his eyebrow in bewilderment, before he turned to look in the direction that Romania had been staring in.

"Was that Lithuania?" Bulgaria asked.

"Da," he said. "He asked if I wanted to go with him and Poland to the meeting room, but…"

"Why didn't you?!"

Romania flinched at Bulgaria's tone and he turned to his friend with a confused look.

"I didn't want you to get annoyed with me," Romania said. "Like last time."

Bulgaria frowned.

"Okay, I apologised for last time," Bulgaria said. "How was I supposed to know that you had to run to the bathroom because you ate some bad fish the previous night? And more to the point, I know how you feel about Lithuania. Are you saying that I'm a bad friend who wouldn't understand if you wanted to go with your crush?"

Romania smiled.

"Of course you're not a bad friend," he said. "I just didn't want you to be mad at me again. Anyway, we should probably get going."

Bulgaria's frown deepened, but he nodded his head. The two of them started to go in the direction of the meeting room.

Poland was tapping his pencil impatiently, ignoring just about everything else going on around him. He even ignored Lithuania, which the other seemed to have caught onto. Poland was looking for someone, and he didn't want to get distracted before he saw that person arrive.

He finally stopped his tapping when he saw the nation he was looking for enter. He glanced around, spotting two others, before he stood and made his way to the entrance. On the way, he tapped on the shoulder of the two nations, gesturing for them to come with him. He didn't check to see if they did, but he could sense movement behind him soon enough.

Bulgaria noticed that Poland was making a beeline for him, and he told Romania something. The other nation shrugged before he went to take his seat, and Bulgaria stood waiting for Poland to reach him.

"Like, we need to talk," Poland said.

Bulgaria arched his eyebrow, but nodded and went outside. Poland followed, and once he was outside the room, he saw that Estonia and Latvia were indeed following.

"You look like you have something to say," Bulgaria said.

"Like, it's totally about Liet and Romania," Poland huffed.

"What happened this time?" Estonia sighed.

"Like, they're so clueless, and they're so… so…"

"Infuriating?" Bulgaria suggested. "Da, I agree. This has been going on long enough."

"What should we do?" Latvia asked.

"What are you talking about?"

They jumped when they heard the sudden voice, and all turned to see the speaker, who was none other than Moldova.

"You startled us," Estonia sighed.

"Sorry," Moldova apologised. "But what are you talking about?"

"Your brother and Lithuania," Bulgaria said. "One of them needs to make a move before they drive us all insane."

"Oh. Okay. What if we give them a push?"

"That's what we're trying to figure out how to do," Poland sighed.

"Literally?"

They all turned to the child.

"Like, maybe that might work," Poland said. "Especially if we can somehow push them in a certain way…"

Romania stretched. It was finally time for lunch. He stood up, and he smiled when he saw that he was immediately joined by Bulgaria and Moldova.

"So, where do you guys want to go for lunch?" Romania asked.

"There's a little café across the street that you might want to check out," Bulgaria said.

Romania cocked his head to the side, before nodding. A café sounded great, and they wouldn't be waiting for too long. He did not want to have to deal with Germany if they were late for the next part of the meeting.

Not that it was actually going anywhere…

He noticed a bit of a commotion in front, and upon closer examination, he could see that Poland was ranting about something to the Baltics. Poor Lithuania looked as though he wanted to just crawl into a hole. To Romania's surprise, Bulgaria seemed to be making a beeline for them.

"What's going on?" he asked as soon as they were close enough.

Lithuania turned around to face them, and that was when things got confusing. Romania yelped when he felt two pairs of hands pushing him forward, and the same thing seemed to happen to Lithuania. The two collided with each other, and Romania subconsciously wrapped his arms around Lithuania in an effort to not fall, and to not let the other nation fall. He felt his heart jolt when he felt Lithuania do the same. When Romania was sure that they wouldn't tumble to the ground, he looked up.

And that was when he realised exactly how close their faces were to each other.

Romania felt his cheeks darken, and he could see Lithuania's doing the same. Romania released Lithuania.

"S-sorry," he stuttered.

"Y-yeah," Lithuania said. "M-me too."

Romania could hear the snickers of some of the nations around them, and he tried hard to get his face to return to its normal colour. He turned back to glare at Bulgaria and Moldova, only they weren't in sight. And when Romania turned back to look at Lithuania, he noticed that Poland and the other two Baltic nations were also gone.

Lithuania looked just as lost as he did.

Romania blushed again when he realised that they purposely pushed them together, and he cleared his throat.

"Um, looks like they ditched us," he said. "So… There's a café across the street, if you want to… join me for lunch."

Lithuania turned to him, face a mask of shock, before his features relaxed and he nodded.

"Sounds great," he said. "I'd love to."

The prompt is: 'Romania and Lithuania have been pining for one another for quite some time. Tired of their constant pining, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Bulgaria and Moldova quite literally shove them together at the next world meeting, much to the amusement of other nations lurking nearby.'
