SebLat: Dorm Room

Raivis was nervous when he was shown to the dorm room. It had a tiny kitchen, a common area, a bathroom and a bedroom that he would have to share with three other people. He was nervous because he never shared a place with other people like this before. He was just worried about…

One of the boys came out of the bathroom, and it was obvious that he had taken a shower. He blushed when he saw the tanned boy with nothing but a towel around his waist. The boy paused when he saw Raivis and the dorm advisor.

"Marcello Vargas, go put your clothes on," the man sighed.

"I was actually on my way to do that," Marcello said. "I forgot to bring extra clothes with me. So… Is this one of my roommates?"

"Yes. This is Raivis Galante. Try to get along."

Marcello beamed at Raivis.

"Pleasure to meet you," he said.

"Y-yeah," Raivis stuttered. "Um, nice to meet you too."

Later in the day, the other two roommates arrived as well. One was an American boy named Jason that told them not to bother him, while the other was an Australian boy named Jack. Raivis greeted them when they arrived, but in general he kept to himself.

He was just afraid of what might happen with these three boys. How long would it take for them to hate him?

Marcello was suddenly woken by the sound of loud screaming. He heard someone fall off the bed, and there was someone else that started cursing up a storm. Marcello sat up and turned on the light, scanning the room to find the source of the screaming. His eyes soon landed on Raivis, who was screaming and thrashing in his bed.

"What the hell?" Jason demanded.

Jack went over and tried to shake Raivis awake, with no luck. And that was when Raivis started speaking.

"No!" he cried out. "I-I'll be good. P-please, don't…"

Marcello was convinced that it was more than just a nightmare, but he wasn't sure how to help him. It almost looked like…

Marcello got out of bed as well. Jack looked over towards him helplessly. Marcello climbed into the bed with Raivis and held him tight. He started stroking the other's back. Soon, the screaming turned into sobs, and they eventually quieted down. Raivis was still trembling and crying, but he at least had quieted down.

"How did you know that would work?" Jack asked.

"I didn't," Marcello said. "But… I think it's PTSD or something. I sometimes get attacks like this too."

"Okay, can we sleep now?" Jason asked.

"Go ahead."

The room was soon bathed in darkness again, and Marcello kept stroking Raivis's back and whispering soothing words in his ear. Eventually Raivis stopped trembling completely, and when he deemed it to be safe, Marcello allowed himself to nod off as well.

Warm. That was the first thing that Raivis was aware of when he woke up. He blearily opened his eyes, before they widened in shock. Someone was in the bed with him.

That revelation caused Raivis to jump back with a yelp. The other person groaned before opening his eyes, and the Latvian realised that it was Marcello.

"Good morning," Marcello muttered before he yawned. "Feeling better?"

"W-what are you doing in my bed?" Raivis asked.

"You were screaming in the middle of the night. You wouldn't wake up. This was the only way I could get you to quiet down."

Raivis blushed when he realised it happened again.

"I-I'm sorry," he stammered. "I… Y-you probably want me t-to leave now."

"It's fine," Marcello said. "It happens to me too sometimes."

Raivis stared at the Italian in shock.

"Huh?" Raivis stammered.

Marcello smiled, but it looked hollow.

"When I was five years old, my parents got in an accident," he explained. "I was in the car with them. My brothers were at school. They were lucky. Anyway, I don't know how it happened, but the car went down a ditch. My parents died immediately, and I got hurt. It took them two days to find us. Two days without food and water and my parents' corpses."

Raivis shuddered.

"That… that sounds pretty horrible," Raivis said. "Um… My stepfather… he abused me. He'd get drunk and then he'd hit me. And if he thought I did something wrong, the beatings would get worse."

Marcello pulled him into a hug, and Raivis found himself clinging to the other boy.

"Don't worry," Marcello said. "You're safe here."

Over the next few weeks, Raivis would often wake up with Marcello lying in the bed next to him. That was the best way for him to know that he had an attack during the night. The other two didn't comment about the two of them sleeping in the same bed most of the time, since it was the only way for them to get sleep as well.

And Raivis had to be honest with himself: He didn't mind if Marcello shared a bed with him.

The prompt is: 'Your OTP is at college that has four-person dorm rooms. It's midnight. Person A has a PTSD attack in their sleep and is screaming, waking the others. While the other two (can be your other OTP) try to wake A, person B suddenly embraces A, whispering soothing words and stroking their hair until A awakes, who clings to B completely terrified. When asked by the other two how & why B did that, B responds with: "I don't know" & "I don't want A to suffer like I have." Bonus feels: A & B are not yet a couple.'
