GerEgy: New "Puppy"
Gupta and Ludwig were both dog lovers, and it was through their dogs that they met. While their dogs were playing in the dog park, Ludwig and Gupta started talking, and eventually they started dating, and eventually they moved in together.
Gupta wasn't too surprised when Ludwig told him that he was thinking of getting him a new puppy for his birthday. But when he saw the picture of the puppy that Ludwig had in mind, he was starting to have his doubts. He did not consider that breed to be a particularly cute breed.
The morning of Gupta's birthday, the two of them woke up together. While Gupta went to the bathroom, Ludwig started to work on coffee and breakfast. Gupta smiled when he entered the kitchen to the heavenly scent of coffee.
"Happy birthday," Ludwig said as he placed the coffee mug in front of the Egyptian. "So, are you ready to see your new puppy?"
Gupta paused while in the process of taking his first sip, and he looked at Ludwig dubiously.
"Please tell me you don't already have the dog here," Gupta said.
Ludwig grinned, before he put a small black box in front of Gupta. The Egyptian stared, his mind not processing what was happening.
"This is your 'puppy'," Ludwig said. "I thought about it long and hard, and… I realised that I would like to spend the rest of my life with you. So, Gupta… will you marry me?"
Gupta had to put down his coffee mug, too afraid that he would drop it. He stared at Ludwig for a long time, before he smiled and nodded. Ludwig broke out in a smile of his own, and Gupta opened the box.
It was a simple gold band with a small stone in the centre. Gupta allowed Ludwig to slide it onto his finger before he examined it in the light. He smiled again and leaned in for a kiss.
"So, I take it we're not going to give the dogs a little brother or sister anytime soon," Gupta stated.
"We can still go to the pet store, if you'd like," Ludwig said. "Or the shelter."
"Let's wait a bit, alright?"
One of my colleagues is a major animal lover, and from the sounds of it, a lot of her animals are rescues. It was also her 21st recently. Her boyfriend mentioned getting a bull terrier puppy for her birthday, but she doesn't exactly like the breed (interesting fact, the Afrikaans name for this breed translates as 'pig dog'). It turns out the 'puppy' was an engagement ring.
