GreAus: Fingerpaint

"Look, Vati!" Hans said as he held up his picture.

"That's great," Roderich praised.

The five-year-old beamed before starting on another picture. Roderich smiled at his husband, whose hands were also full of the paint. Roderich knew that he would also have to do a lot of scrubbing.

He reflected on their time together. Hans's mother died a few days after he was born, leaving the Austrian to raise his son alone. His friend Heracles had offered to help, and soon enough he became a part of the family. They got closer and the way they perceived each other changed. Roderich and Heracles got married two years ago. And watching as Heracles indulged the little boy, Roderich couldn't think of it being any other way.

Roderich grabbed one of the nearby tissues and started to clean his hands, causing Heracles to look his way.

"Are you finished?" Heracles asked.

"Well, someone has to make lunch, right?" Roderich said. "I'll call you when it's time to get ready."

He kissed Hans on top of the head before kissing Heracles properly. This might not have been what he imagined seven years ago, but it was perfect nonetheless.
