TaiHutt: Let It Burn
"Is it ready?" Mei asked, approaching Jack with an armful of schoolbooks.
Jack turned to her, his face already warm from the fire. He gleefully nodded, his own stack of books next to him.
"Ladies first," he said, gesturing to the fire.
"You're such a gentleman," Mei teased as she sat down next to him.
She picked up one of the books – mathematics – and threw it onto the fire. She squealed when she saw the sparks fly, before the corners of the pages started to burst into flame, the tongues slowly licking towards the centre. Jack chuckled, before he threw in one of his own books as well.
They watched as each book they fed to the fire made the flames grow. This was the best way they could think of to celebrate their graduation. Eventually Mei stood up.
"I'm going to get some marshmallows!" she announced.
"Okay," Jack said, feeding his old chemistry book to the fire.
A few minutes later, they each held an impaled marshmallow over the flames. A fire at sunset was the perfect way to spend the evening. And getting rid of old homework that would never be needed again was an extra bonus.
The prompt is: 'Person A and Person B burning something.'
One of the traditions we have is to make a bonfire with old workbooks once we graduate high school. Not textbooks. Those are the property of the school.
