"And that should do it," Eduard said. "Your computer should run smoothly now."
"Merci!" Camille exclaimed. "You have no idea how worried I've been. I bought some cake. Would you like a slice? To say thank you?"
"Oh, well, I'm happy to help," Eduard said. "So, no need to thank me."
"But I insist!"
"Um, I actually need to get back to work. Maybe another time, alright?"
Camille pouted as Eduard made his way out of the door. She looked over towards her computer, and then towards her cup of tea, before shaking her head. It wasn't worth it.
…
"I don't understand Camille," Eduard sighed. "It seems every day there's a new issue with her computer. And she asks me to come and help every time. Some of these problems are things she can easily google, but she insists that I come and check it out personally."
"Really?" Toris asked. "And… Does she invite you for tea or something when you're done?"
"Well, not tea, but she has some sort of pastry most days."
"…Ed, could you turn around please?"
Eduard turned around, only for there to be a sharp pain in his forehead. He yelped in pain while glaring at Toris.
"What was that for?" he demanded.
"She was flirting with you," Toris sighed. "She calls you for the computer issues that aren't issues because that's the only way she knows she's going to get your attention. And the pastries are because she wants to spend some extra time with you. Honestly, how can you be so smart and stupid at the same time?"
Eduard froze. He thought of the pretty Monacan and he wanted to call Toris out for lying. After all, there was no way that she would be interested in him of all people.
Just as he was thinking that, his phone started to ring, and when he looked at the screen, Camille's name flashed on the screen. He quickly answered.
"Oh, Eduard," she said. "I'm so sorry to bother you. For some strange reason, my computer is refusing to save my work. Could you come to check on it? Please?"
He looked towards Toris, who had a smug look on his face. He quickly checked his watch.
"My shift ends in ten minutes," he said. "I'll come as soon as I can."
"Great!" she exclaimed. "I'll be waiting."
Eduard stared at the phone in silence.
"Be sure to accept the offer of whatever pastry she has," Toris said.
…
"Merci once again," Camille said. "I don't know what I would do without you."
Eduard smiled and nodded.
"It's alright," he said. "What are friends for?"
She hummed, a mysterious smile on her face.
"Oh, I happened to get some chocolate croissants," she said. "Would you like some?"
Eduard hesitated, before he nodded. Camille looked surprised but beamed. She quickly skipped to the kitchen.
"Would you like coffee or tea?" she asked.
"Coffee would be nice," Eduard said, wondering if Toris was right.
