PortSlov: Side-Effects May Vary

Samuel winced when the shirtsleeve pressed a bit too tightly against his arm. The injection site was painful. In fact, his entire upper arm was in pain. But that was the price, he supposed.

And he supposed that it could be worse.

As though on cue, he heard a shuffling sound. He turned to see Miguel shuffling in, his eyes squinting at the light streaming in through the kitchen windows. He was wearing a robe, and Samuel had seen Miguel shivering earlier.

"How are you feeling?" Samuel asked, turning towards the vegetables he was frying in the pan.

"Like crap," Miguel groaned. "How is it that you look so damn cheerful?"

Samuel shrugged.

"I guess it's true what they say about side-effects varying," he said. "So, when do we have to go for the next dose?"

"Sometime next month," Miguel said. "I hope this goes away soon."

"Would you like some tea?"

"Sim, por favor."

So, I recently got my first vaccine dose, and the next day… Yeah. Some people only have mild pain in the arm after the injection. And others have to take the afternoon off work because they have chills and fever and nausea and dizziness and then they sleep fifteen hours or so. Seriously, the only side-effect on the pamphlet that I didn't have was a headache. But it's worth it. Hopefully my second dose won't be that bad.
