GreIta: Masochistic Challenge

"What do you think?" Feliciano asked, presenting his latest creation.

Heracles looked towards the paper. Feliciano had drawn their two cats sleeping side by side. Every day during this month, Feliciano would present him with a new work of art.

"What's the prompt for today?" Heracles asked.

"Fuzzy," Feliciano replied.

Heracles stared at the picture again and smiled.

"I can see that," he said. "Good job."

Feliciano knocked on the door, before he allowed himself to enter. He carried a mug of coffee, which he knew that Heracles would want right about now. And when he saw Heracles staring at the screen with his hands clutching his hair, he knew that it was a wise choice.

"Are you winning?" Feliciano asked, placing the cup in front of Heracles.

"I've been staring at this screen for twenty minutes," Heracles said. "I've got nothing!"

Feliciano smiled as he patted Greece's arm.

"If I could complete Inktober, you can complete NaNoWriMo," he said. "Just take a deep breath, and keep writing."

On the first of December, the two went out for ice-cream. Heracles especially looked as though a heavy burden had been lifted from his shoulders.

"I can't believe I got so stressed over a bit of writing," Heracles said.

"Ve, it got really scary after a while," Feliciano said. "But it's all over now."

"Yeah. Until next year."

"Si… Until next year. Why do we do this to ourselves again?"

"Because we're a bunch of masochists. And because it's supposed to 'help' us."

"Ve, too much stress."

I got the idea from this meme: 'Inktober: all your artist friends flood your timeline with beautiful new pieces every day. NaNoWriMo: all your writer friends go radio silent for a month and post cryptically about wanting to die.' There's also another meme about the participants of both challenges uniting under a shared suffering.

I tried NaNoWriMo last year. Tried. I tried again this year. I'm about 3 500 words shy of my goal, but I think I can still make it. This is also good for me because I've been lacking general motivation. So, hopefully that won't be the case for much longer.

Oh, and due to the title, the song 'Masochism Tango' is now stuck in my head.
