CzeZeal: Mess

Fletcher was just paying for the groceries when his phone rang. He pulled it out to see Klara's number. He answered the phone as he grabbed the groceries.

"Hey," he said. "I'm just leaving the store."

"Good!" Klara said. "Could you go look for a flash drive in the pharmacy's parking lot?"

Fletcher paused, trying to figure out if he'd heard correctly.

"Um," Klara said, and he could hear that she was struggling a bit with her words. "I went to the pharmacy and there was a flash drive in my pocket. It's not there anymore. I think it might have fallen out when I took my keys out. Please? It's for work."

"Okay," he said. "I'll go over right away. With any luck, it's still there."

Just as he drove into the pharmacy's parking lot, his phone rang again. And again, it was Klara.

"Never mind," Klara said. "I found it. I… I forgot that I changed clothes."

"Oh," Fletcher said. "Well, at least you found it."

There was a heavy, pained sigh on the other end. Fletcher knew that she was angry with herself.

"I'm going to drink this migraine medicine and go to bed before I embarrass myself again," Klara said.

Fletcher chuckled when he heard what caused the slip. And it would certainly explain why Klara had been at the pharmacy.

Well, it would seem that he would be in charge of dinner that night. And it was a good thing that he had gotten some cherries. Klara might need that comfort now.

Hehe… yeah… This kind of happened with me too. Fortunately, my dad wasn't too upset that I'd sent him on a wild goose chase. He did laugh when I mentioned that I was suffering from a migraine. And in my defence, the area that was in pain corresponded with the part of the brain handling short-term memory. And verbal memory, actually, which would explain why I generally can't speak properly when I have a migraine.

Cherries are apparently good for headaches, and out of the foods I scrolled through, it seems like something at least semi-romantic and can be used as a treat (spinach and broccoli are also on the list… I'd rather deal with the migraine).

The title is from the phrase 'messing with the head', which a migraine can do.
