CzeSeb: A Little Faith

"Ouch!" Klara exclaimed. "Be a little more careful, please."

"Sorry," Marcello said as he continued to comb her hair.

Klara huffed, before she turned her attention back to her book. Marcello had asked her if he could style her hair for her, and after a moment of being insulted, she grudgingly allowed it. She didn't know why exactly he'd wanted to do it, and she was more than a little apprehensive when he told her that she wasn't allowed to look in the mirror during the process, but he'd only told her to have a little faith, and that he wouldn't do anything that would hurt or embarrass her.

Though, she tensed when Marcello brought out the curling iron. She remained absolutely still, and when he was finished, she sighed in relief. Afterwards, he started working on separate segments of hair.

It was almost soothing, the way he worked with her hair. She wondered where he even learned how to do anything with hair, since he only had brothers. But asides from a few tangles in the beginning, she couldn't really complain.

"And done," Marcello announced. "Come on, let's go take a look."

Klara allowed Marcello to guide her towards the mirror, and for a moment, she didn't quite understand that it was her. Her hair was styled in wavy curls, with sections having been twisted or braided and brought to the back. She brought her hand up to feel the back, and she could tell that it was expertly secured.

"What do you think?" Marcello asked.

"Is… Is this really me?" Klara asked.

"Si! I heard you speaking to Liz the other day. You told her that you're not beautiful. I wanted you to see that it was a lie." Marcello kissed her cheek. "You're gorgeous, cara, and you should never forget it."

Klara blushed, but she smiled. She remembered the conversation with her Hungarian friend. It was in a moment of self-loathing. She still wasn't entirely convinced, but at least she knew that she was beautiful in one person's eyes.
