ThaiIre: Big Mistake
"This is nice," Patrick said as he sat down on the blanket.
Kasem smiled as he started to unpack the basket. A picnic in the park sounded like a good idea, especially on such a nice day. It wasn't too hot, and there wasn't a single cloud in the sky. There were other families and couples in the park as well. Patrick looked over towards a pair of children playing. They looked like brothers, and he tried to think of a time when he and his brothers used to play like that.
Were they always so dysfunctional?
"I made some sandwiches," Kasem said. "Just be careful. Some of them are hot."
Patrick winced. He couldn't imagine why Kasem enjoyed spicy food. He always felt as though his throat was bleeding, and he sometimes felt it all the way in his ears. It was never enjoyable for him.
The two started to eat the food and drink the drinks while they discussed their week. Patrick liked spending time with Kasem, and he wished that they could spend some more time together. He wondered if Kasem would be open to moving in together.
Patrick took a bite from one of the sandwiches, and only after he swallowed did he realise that something was wrong. He cried out as he dropped the sandwich on his plate, and he desperately searched for the drinks.
Kasem stared at him for a while before he opened the sandwich. He grimaced.
"I think you found one of my sandwiches," Kasem said. "Sorry."
Kasem handed a small bottle of milk to him, and Patrick drank it gratefully. When he turned back to Kasem, he noticed that the sandwich was gone.
"Sorry about it," Kasem apologised again. "I guess it got mixed up."
"I think you should make it clearer next time," Patrick gasped. "How can you eat stuff like this?"
"It's fine for me. I can't see how you can eat bland foods, after all."
…Alright, Patrick would concede that his taste wasn't very bold. Still, how could anyone torture themselves like that? Patrick rubbed his ears. The insides of his ears were itching.
The prompt is: 'Imagine Person A of your OTP likes all their food really hot and spicy, while Person B can't handle much spice at all. Then imagine Person B accidentally taking a bite of Person A's sandwich.'
