IceMona: Winter Hands

Camille opened her apartment door, and she immediately frowned when she saw Emil. Not that she wasn't happy to see him, but…

"It is so unfair," Camille pouted.

Emil wore a short-sleeved shirt with his jeans. Meanwhile, she was wearing a long-sleeved shirt and two sweaters. The only indication that she had that Emil was suffering from the cold was his gloves.

"Could you at least pretend to feel the weather?" Camille groaned as she allowed Emil inside.

"But, I seriously don't feel cold," Emil said. "Iceland is a lot colder than this."

Camille huffed. However, her anger dissipated when Emil removed his gloves.

"What happened to your hands?" she demanded, her voice rising to an uncomfortable pitch.

Emil looked down. His hands were red, especially near the fingers and their joints. The skin was extremely dry, and Camille was sure that she could see scabs in certain areas.

"This always happens in the winter," Emil explained. "I try to wear the gloves, but…"

Camille immediately rushed to her room. She returned soon thereafter with a lotion. She squirted a liberal amount on her hands before she started rubbing the lotion into Emil's hands.

"This is the best moisturising lotion I have," she said. "If it doesn't work, then we'll need to get to a pharmacy and get you something for these winter hands."

"You really don't have to go through all this trouble," Emil said. "It's normal. I'm used to it."

"Just because you're used to it doesn't mean you have to tolerate it!"

Camille held Emil's hands, seeing the small cracks that threatened to bleed. She didn't care what he said. She would help him relieve this discomfort.

I'm fine with the winter. The only problem I have is the winter hands. The way I described Emil's hands… That's how my hands look. It's reached the point that people on the other side of the room would comment about my red hands. And it's only May. I'm stuck with this until at least the end of July. I did manage to get some lotion at the pharmacy that seems to be working.
