AusNor: Argument
Lukas was reading a book when he heard someone knocking on his front door. He marked his place and went to the door. His eyes widened when he saw who was on the other side.
"Roderich?" Lukas asked.
"Sorry for coming unannounced," Roderich said. "Please, could I come in?"
Lukas frowned before gesturing for Roderich to enter. The Austrian was pretty much vibrating, and Lukas was worried that something had happened.
"Would you like some tea?" Lukas asked.
Roderich nodded. Lukas was growing really worried. It wasn't like Roderich to accept the offer for tea without saying please. Something had happened, and Lukas would need to be careful in his attempts to learn what had upset Roderich.
By the time Lukas finished the tea, Roderich had thankfully stopped trembling. Roderich sighed before sipping his tea.
"Thank you," Roderich said.
"What happened?" Lukas asked.
"I had a fight with Hans. It was pretty bad, to be honest."
Hans was Roderich's younger brother, and ever since their parents died in an accident a few months ago, Roderich had been declared Hans's legal guardian. The two hadn't been close, but they were certainly not hostile towards each other, although they'd had quite a few arguments recently.
"What was it about?" Lukas asked.
"His principal called me in," Roderich said. "Apparently, Hans has been skipping school and wasn't doing any homework and failing tests. When I confronted him about it, he told me that he wasn't interested in school. He was going to be an artist. I told him that he shouldn't waste the chances he'd been given, and he got mad at me and told me that I wasn't Vati and shouldn't be lecturing him like that." Roderich took a shaky breath. "I told him that the way he was acting, they would take him away from me because they would declare me an unfit legal guardian, and he said that he saw no problem with that. And then I told him that if he wanted to be a homeless failure, then he was welcome to leave. What should I… What should I do? I can't… I can't apologise, and he certainly won't."
Lukas pursed his lips.
"Why can't you apologise?" Lukas asked. "Do you think that you have no reason, or…"
"No, I know I'm in the wrong," Roderich interrupted. "But how can I possibly take back those words?"
"Okay… You said he has been slacking off at school, and he said that he wants to be an artist. Why don't you compromise? Go find some brochures for art schools, especially university courses, and also make sure to have the academic requirements ready. Make sure to emphasise that he would need a lot of other skills to be a professional artist, like business skills. Tell him that if he works for it, you will help him apply to any of them, and in the meantime, he can join art lessons for kids. And be sure to tell him that you're not trying to be your father, you're just trying to be there for him."
"Will that work?"
"You forget, I also became the guardian of a little brother after our parents died. At least yours isn't a proper teenager yet."
Roderich smiled.
"Thank you, Lukas," he said. "I knew that you could help me. Do you mind helping me find some brochures? We can find some online, right?"
"Sure," Lukas said.
The prompt is: 'Can you do something with Austria where he has an argument with Kugelmugel and he sets out for person B (You can choose who) to find out how to make it up to Kugelmugel?'
