SpaIce: Picture Perfect
"Oh, this one looks pretty!"
Emil turned towards Antonio and saw the Spaniard snapping a picture of some flowering vines. They had an assignment for their photography club to get some nature pictures. They needed at least five different pictures. So they couldn't have several pictures of the same thing, and they each had to have their own photos, so they couldn't use the same subjects.
They went on the hike in an effort to get many opportunities, but so far, Antonio was the only one really successful. Emil managed to get one successful picture before Antonio decided to snatch it up.
"You should leave some for me," Emil said.
"Alright," Antonio chuckled. "There's just one more picture I'd like to get."
Emil huffed, before he searched around. He saw a beautiful orange bird in the tree, and he carefully pointed the camera towards it. He made sure that he had it in the frame, before he took the photo. He smiled when he checked and saw that it came out perfectly.
He heard Antonio's shutter go off and turned to Antonio, who had his camera pointed towards Emil.
"What are you doing?" Emil asked.
"Oh, sorry," Antonio said. "I just thought you looked so nice, with that smile on your face. So serene."
Emil's cheeks flared up.
"Idiot," Emil muttered. "You're supposed to take photos of the nature."
"But we're currently in the nature," Antonio said. "So, that means you're part of nature, so I can take a picture of you."
"…I have no idea how your logic works. Just delete that picture."
"…I won't add it to my portfolio."
Emil was just about to turn away from Antonio when he saw a large blue butterfly landing on Antonio's shoulder. The Spaniard didn't even seem to notice. Something like that… It would actually be a good photo.
"Antonio, don't move," Emil said. "There's a butterfly on your shoulder."
Antonio blinked as Emil moved closer, focusing his camera on the butterfly and hoping that he would be able to capture the insect. Before he took the picture, he saw Antonio smile. He hesitated before he pressed the button.
"So, how is this different from what I did?" Antonio asked.
"You were being ridiculous," Emil said. "And there was a butterfly. Look."
Emil showed the photo to Antonio. He had made sure to focus on the butterfly, but in the corner, Antonio's smile could still be seen.
The more Emil looked at it, the more he thought that this was his favourite photo.
I had a prompt for 'photography', and this is what I came up with.
