WaZeal: Storage

"Okay, I'm happy for Arthur and Bella," Fletcher said, "but why do we have to keep all this cake?"

Will glanced over towards Fletcher, who was busy wrapping a large chunk of wedding cake in clingwrap before putting it in a container. After Arthur and Bella's wedding, Will and Fletcher somehow ended up with the role of packing away and freezing the wedding cake until Will's brother and new sister-in-law returned from their honeymoon.

"At least we don't have to eat it all," Will said. "Just the one layer."

"…Aren't you in the mood to invite your other brothers over for tea?" Fletcher asked.

Will looked over towards the plate of cake. It was tempting… Especially since one of the layers would be impossible to freeze.

"Let's try to get it in the freezer first," Will said. "And then we can consider inviting them tomorrow."

"Thank you," Fletcher said. "I don't want to see another slice of cake for a long time."

Will was inclined to agree.

After my sister's wedding, we ended up with all three layers of the wedding cake. Not enough of it was sliced for the guests. The bottom layer was a lemon meringue cake that ended up filling nine 2-litre ice-cream tubs. The top layer was a carrot cake that was thankfully not that large. But the middle layer couldn't be frozen because it had cream, chocolate mousse and strawberry mousse. And it's sweet. I have a sweet tooth, but even I have to say it's too much. It literally took me three hours to eat one slice. We had to keep it for them until they returned from their honeymoon.
