Wamano: Secret

"Honestly, why do we have to come to the meetings with you?" Scotland asked, glaring down at England.

"Because I want to keep an eye on you," England bit back.

"Even at the risk of us embarrassing you?" Northern Ireland asked, a cheeky grin on his face.

"I wonder what Germany will say when I tell him that you are the one that spilt that coffee on his papers, and not Prussia."

"You wouldn't."

"Try me."

Wales chuckled.

"Personally, I don't mind coming to the meetings," Wales said. "It's a nice opportunity to chat with everybody."

"…You did not just seriously use the word 'nice' when referring to these meetings," Scotland groaned.

Wales chuckled. They entered the meeting room soon after, and they managed to find seats together. While looking for seats, Romano walked past them, muttering something about a 'stupid fratello forgetting something in his office'. He bumped into Wales, and despite Northern Ireland's shout of indignation, since he walked slightly behind Wales and could clearly see what happened, Wales told him to dismiss it.

It wasn't until the meeting started that Wales removed the note that Romano slipped into his pocket, along with a wrapped chocolate truffle. The figurine that Wales had kept in his pocket was gone, and he knew that Romano took his gift. Wales quickly and quietly unwrapped the truffle and popped it in his mouth, before he checked the note, hidden under the table.

Meet me in our office during lunch.

The nations all had their own offices inside the conference building, though it was mostly used as storage space. Nations who had to share their duties with siblings had to share an office. Wales, being part of the United Kingdom, had to share with England, Scotland and technically Northern Ireland, but he had convinced his southern counterpart to share an office with him instead. Italy almost never went to the office that he and Romano shared, so it was safer for them there.

Wales had no problem with the relationship, but Romano was embarrassed. He wasn't embarrassed about Wales, but rather the way they got together, or that was what Wales assumed. Romano was publicly humiliated during the breakup of his last relationship, and Wales had gone to comfort Romano. The Italian was understandably angry and hostile, but Wales remained patient until Romano broke down and cried in Wales's chest. It resulted in Romano seeking Wales out more often, and eventually, the two of them started to go on dates. They would also give each other small gifts. Romano was a skilled pickpocket, and no one else noticed.

Romano wasn't ready for their relationship to be known, and Wales respected that. It meant that his time with Romano was more intimate, and relied a lot on whispers and secret places. It was also fortunate that Wales's brothers didn't pry too much in his private life.

The meeting seemed to drag on, and a few glances in Romano's direction showed that he had actually fallen asleep. Wales had to repress the smile at Romano's innocent face. It was a shame that he didn't look like that more often.

Finally, a lunchbreak was called. Wales was out of his seat, and he saw Romano jolting awake as well.

"Oi," England said, "where are you going?"

"Bathroom," Wales said simply before rushing out. He heard one of his brothers remark that he must have been holding it for a while, but he didn't bother to check which one.

He wandered through the hallways, taking a few unnecessary turns so that no one saw his true destination. By the time he arrived at the Italy brothers' office, Romano was already there, his arms crossed and foot tapping.

"You're late," Romano said.

"Sorry," Wales said. "I had to make sure that there are no curious cats following me."

Wales slipped into the office, and Romano closed the door behind them. The moment the door was closed, Romano grabbed Wales and kissed him. Wales smiled and returned the kiss, his hand automatically finding its way to the back of Romano's head. Too soon for both of them, they pulled away.

"I prepared a picnic," Romano said. "Thought the two of us could share it."

"Aw, that's so sweet," Wales said. "It must have been hard to sneak it in here."

"I didn't bring it in a basket, so it's less conspicuous. Shall we?"

The two sat at the table. Romano pulled out a bag, and he immediately started to place the blanket on top of the table. The food and cutlery followed suit. Wales watched, knowing that Romano didn't want him to help with this. He arched his eyebrow when he noticed the bottle.

"Grape juice?" he asked.

"S-si," Romano stammered. "Normally, I would have brought wine, but I didn't want anyone to smell alcohol on us when we go back to the meeting, especially if it's the same type of alcohol."

"Oh, I get it. So, what do you think of your figurine?"

Romano pulled out his tomato figurine with the pouty face and grinned.

"I love it," he said. "I can't believe you make these things yourself."

"With England doing most of the formal stuff, I have a lot of time on my hands," Wales said. "So, shall I pour, or will you?"

Before Romano could answer, the door opened. Romano froze and Wales whipped around. Standing in the doorway was Romano's northern counterpart, whose eyes promptly widened and he waved his hands.

"I'm sorry!" he exclaimed. "I just wanted to… I'll leave!"

The door slammed shut, and Romano jumped to his feet.

"Shit," he muttered. "If Feliciano knows, then it's only a matter of time before everyone else knows. I'll be back."

Wales watched as Romano ran out of the room. He looked back at the food and sighed. He was worried about Romano. He only hoped that he wasn't too angry at his brother and ended up saying something that he would regret later.

It didn't take long to catch up to Italy. To Romano's surprise, Italy didn't run away. Instead, he walked at a brisk pace. Italy yelped when Romano slammed him against the wall.

"You saw nothing!" Romano snarled. "You hear me? Nothing!"

"O-okay," Italy stammered. "I… I saw nothing. But… W-why? Why don't you want anyone to know? Are you embarrassed?"

"N-no. I just… He's great, and he deals with all my crap. He's too good for me. I just… I'm scared, that if other people find out, they're going to tell us that all the time. And after what happened last time… I'm scared."

Italy's eyes widened, and he slowly nodded his head.

"I won't tell anyone," Italy said, before he smiled. "Ve, you looked so comfortable around each other. I hope you treat each other right."

Romano breathed a sigh of relief. Even though Italy sucked at keeping secrets, when it came to love, Italy knew how to play his part. For now, his secret was safe with Italy.

Now he had to return to a certain Welshman before he assumed that Romano abandoned him.
