Kormania: Sadistic
Yong Soo grinned when he heard someone knock on his door, and when he opened the door, the grin widened.
"Vlad!" he exclaimed, before he threw his arms around the Romanian's neck.
"Nice to see you too, Yong," Vlad said as he chuckled. "It's been a long week for me. What about you?"
"Horrible," Yong Soo sighed. "It sucks that we can only hang out on the weekends. It would have been a lot better if I could see you every day."
It might have been his imagination, but he thought he could see Vlad blush. He grabbed one of Vlad's bags and took it to the spare room that could easily have been called Vlad's room, since he was the only one that actually used it. They lived a town apart, bound by their respective jobs and their respective renting contracts. They could only see each other over the weekends, so they tried to make those times count.
"Looks like you've been playing games while waiting," Vlad said.
"Actually…" Yong Soo said, grinning. "I think I found a game that you might like to play."
"Oh?"
"Have you ever heard of Five Nights at Freddy's?"
Vlad crossed his arms, a thoughtful look on his face.
"It rings a small bell," he said. "I think I've heard of it, but it didn't make an impact."
"Well, it's going to. You say you like horror, right? And since a movie is coming out, I figured now would be a good way to get you into the franchise."
"…I'm guessing you want me to watch the movie with you?"
Yong Soo grinned and nodded. Vlad rolled his eyes, before he sat down.
"I suppose I could give it a try, though I'm not that good with videogames," Vlad said.
"It's simple enough," Yong Soo said. "You just need to keep an eye on the cameras, check the doors, and make sure you don't run out of power."
They spent the next hour or so with Vlad playing the game. Vlad managed to make it through the first night without a problem, but the second night he died three times, two of them being due to the power going out, and one of them being due to the rabbit jamming the door, which allowed the fox to get in. The third night, he managed to complete it the first time without difficulty, but on the fourth night, he died to the fox again.
"Crap!" Vlad exclaimed. "I hit the wrong button."
"You know, for someone who says he's not that good with videogames, you're doing pretty well," Yong Soo said.
"It's easy, once you know what to expect."
"Right…"
Before they could start the round again, the pizza Yong Soo ordered earlier arrived. They took a break as they had dinner.
"So, what do you think about it?" Yong Soo asked.
"It's pretty stressful," Vlad said. "The jump scares are a bit… meh, but the anticipation… That's pretty good. Makes everything scarier."
"So, what would you say if I told you there are other games in this franchise?"
"…How many games are we talking about?"
"Well, let's see… Not counting the spinoffs… About seven. Maybe eight or nine."
Vlad simply stared at him.
"Please tell me you don't expect me to play all of them this weekend," he said.
"Just the first one will do, for now," Yong Soo said. "Maybe the second one. And, if you're okay with it, I can introduce you to a few more horror games."
"…You're enjoying this, aren't you?"
"Just a little."
So… Guess what I've been exploring lately. To be fair, FNAF had been on my periphery for a long time, but not on my radar. I've thought of getting a horror game on my Switch, and FNAF was one I considered, along with Amnesia and a few others. And then I saw the FNAF movie trailer, and I started exploring and went down the rabbit hole. As it turns out, I'm already familiar with a huge chunk of the songs, due to YouTube and Spotify realising I like creepy songs and songs based on videogames.
The playthrough in the chapter is my playthrough so far. I haven't gotten past Night 4 yet.
