Swegypt: Temperature Trouble

When Gupta returned to the apartment, it was to see Berwald slumped on the couch with three fans aimed at him. There was a glass of water on the table, its contents mostly gone. There was no telling how many glasses had been downed before Berwald couldn't stomach any more water at one time. Berwald's glasses were gone, which was just as well, since he was completely soaked. Even his hair was wet. And Gupta didn't think that Berwald had just come out of the shower.

"I brought ice-cream," Gupta said.

Berwald's eyes snapped open, and he turned to Gupta with a hazy expression. He was not handling the heat well.

"You're a lifesaver," Berwald mumbled.

Gupta smiled, going towards the kitchen. He placed the ice-cream tub on the counter and scooped a bowl for Berwald. He placed the rest in the freezer, noting that all of the icetrays had partially-frozen water in them. And one tray hadn't even started to freeze yet.

"Here you go," Gupta said, handing the bowl to Berwald. "You know, they say that it's going to get even hotter in the next few days."

Berwald could only groan in response.

We had a bit of a heatwave last weekend and early this week. It was horrible. And loadshedding started again, so we couldn't always turn the fan on. At least things are starting to cool down again.
