Prologue: Episode 1 - Hell Breaks Loose Part 1

Fredbear's Family Diner was once the pinnacle of childhood joy, a beloved venue where children flocked to enjoy pizza, games, and the lively performances of animatronic characters Fredbear and Spring Bonnie. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and excitement, making it the ultimate destination for family fun. However, this idyllic setting was shattered by a tragic incident at a child's birthday party.

(November 14th, 1983)

?: Hey!

That shout made a brown-haired nine-year-old boy with blue eyes, wearing a black shirt with a white stripe at the front of his chest, jolt awake while breathing heavily, his eyes wide and confused. This boy is Evan Afton, the youngest son of William and Clara Afton.

Evan: Huh?

He looked at the person who woke him up. It was a black-haired pigtailed girl with blueish-hazel eyes, wearing a yellow shirt with a blue skirt with overalls, and yellow sneakers. This is Cassidy Smith, his best friend.

Cassidy: Wow, Evan. Is the birthday party so boring that even the birthday boy falls asleep?

Evan: *sighs* Leave me alone, Cassidy. I'm trying to stay awake, but it's not easy. It's just been hard for me to sleep.

Cassidy's teasing smile faded and was replaced with one of concern.

Cassidy: Older brother trouble again?

Evan: *sighs* Worse. Have you ever seen like... a Nightmare Freddy?

Cassidy's brow furrowed in confusion.

Cassidy: Nightmare? *glances to the side* I mean I've had a bad dream or two about them. They're creepy, Evan. Just look at them up on stage.

She glanced at the animatronics, Fredbear who was a yellow bear wearing a purple tie and purple top hat and holding a microphone, and Springbonnie who was a yellow rabbit only wearing a purple tie and playing a guitar.

Cassidy: Shaking, creaking around like that. And then they come off and walk around. Yeah, they're pretty creepy.

Evan: *shook his head* No, not Fredbear, Freddy. The brown bear. And Foxy, Bonnie, and Chica.

Cassidy *confusion deepened* You mean the characters from Fredbear and Friends.

Evan: Yeah, I've seen them every night. They've been creeping around my house, Cassidy.

He started to have flashbacks of a night when he was in his room trying to survive the night from getting attacked by the Nightmares he'd been talking about. He reached over the table, picked up his Fredbear plush, and held it close.

Evan: But at least Fredbear has been keeping me safe.

Cassidy: *points at the Fredbear plush* You're talking about your plushie? It's keeping you safe?

Evan gave a small, hesitant smile and nodded.

Cassidy let out a giggle before slamming her hand on Evan's shoulder.

Cassidy: You are so weird, Evan. But that's why I love you.

She smiled warmly, and Evan gave an uncomfortable smile in return, a faint blush tinting his cheeks.

Far from them stood Evan's father, William Afton, a rare smile played on his lips as he watched Evan sitting at a table with Cassidy.

His long-time friend and business partner, Henry Emily, approached him.

Henry: Is Evan enjoying his birthday party?

William: Well from what I'm seeing, he's having a good time with his friend.

Henry scanned the room before settling back on William.

Henry: I don't see your other kids around. Where are they?

William: Ryan is in the arcade with his girlfriend, Vanessa. Elizabeth is hanging out with your daughter. And Michael... *sighs* he's with his delinquent friends, probably planning something to ruin Evan's day.

Henry: *frowns* He's still tormenting Evan?

William: Yeah, unfortunately. I swear that kid causes a lot of trouble. Sometimes, I feel like he's going to do something that will make me lose it.

Henry placed a reassuring hand on William's shoulder.

Henry: Trust me, Will. With the security we have here at Fredbear's Family Diner, you don't have to worry about Michael messing things up. We've got this place covered. Plus, if anything goes wrong, I got your back.

William: *sighs* Thanks, Henry.

(Later)

At another table, Michael Afton slouched on his chair, a look of utter boredom etched on his face. On the other side of the table, his friend Mark mirrored his boredom.

Michael: I'm so bored.

Mark: Yeah, I know. There's nothing to do here. This place sucks

Michael shot him a warning look.

Michael: Hey, don't say that, especially when my dad's here. He might hear you and I don't want to look bad in front of my dad. Just keep the opinions on the restaurant to yourself. Okay, buddy.

Mark: *sighs* Alright, then.

Just then, two of their friends, Simon and Frederick approached, with Simon holding something in his hands.

Simon was a dark-skinned boy with short brown hair and light brown eyes, wearing

Frederick: Hey.

Michael: Hey.

Simon: Check out what Frederick and I got.

He tossed the objects he was holding onto the table, four masks. The masks were of a bear, a rabbit, a chicken, and a fox.

Michael: *eyes lit up* Woah, those are so cool!

Mark: *equally impressed* How did you get them?

Frederick: Simon and I have been playing nothing but arcade games so we could get enough tickets for four masks, one for each of us.

Simon: But you can't wear Chica because I'm wearing Chica. *holds up the chicken mask*

Frederick looked confused at his friend and a little creeped out since Chica is a girl and he's a guy which is quite disturbing.

Frederick: Yeah, and I'm also wearing Freddy, so you guys only get to choose between two masks.

Mark: Well, I don't care what mask I get so the choice is yours, Michael.

Frederick: Michael, which mask would you like? Bonnie or Foxy?

Michael: Foxy obviously.

Frederick grabbed the fox mask and tossed it to Michael who caught it in his hands. Michael gave out a chuckle before standing up from his seat.

Michael: Heh. I tore the head off of the head of the Foxy plushie that my brother has at home so I could scare him.

Mark: *fake sympathy* Aw, did he cry?

Frederick: *chuckles* Yeah, did he cry?

Michael: *annoyed* That little piss baby always cries, man. It's annoying as hell. I tried to scare the shit out of him and he's still coming here for his birthday. I was hoping to save us from this embarrassment.

He pointed across the room to where Evan was sitting with Cassidy. Simon thought of something, he looked at the masks and back at Evan. He chuckled before turning back to Michael.

Simon: Well, you know we can give him a real reason to be scared.

Michael: But how? He keeps that stupid bear with him at all times. It's like his cry teddy.

Frederick: A cry teddy?

Michael: Yeah, I know. He never grows up.

Simon: Trust me. With this prank, we'll make sure he grows up. But we just gotta make sure that no one is looking at us, and your other brother and little sister don't show up to ruin everything.

Michael: Don't worry about them. Ryan is spending time with his girlfriend while Elizabeth is with my dad's friend's daughter.

The boys glanced around the room, making sure the coast was clear. Mark then spotted something.

Mark: Look!

What he spotted was William heading towards the bathroom.

Mark: Michael's dad is going to the bathroom. *to Michael* Now's our chance to make your little brother grow up. So what do you say, Michael? You want to impress Mary, don't you?

Michael's eyes flicked to Mary Schmidt, his crush, who was talking animatedly with her friends. He looked back at the Foxy mask thinking about his decision, until a devious smile spread across his face.

Michael: *chuckles* Fuck yeah.

The group started to huddle up, beginning to plot their plan. Michael was determined to make Evan's birthday one to remember - whether Evan wanted to or not.

(Later)

Cassidy was in front of the prize counter where some of the prizes were plushies with one catching her eye which she called out to Evan, who approached the counter next to her.

Cassidy: Hey, Evan. Check out these Plushtrap plushies. Do you want one?

Evan looked at where she was pointing. It was a green rabbit plushie that looked like Springbonnie but was olive green, had sharp teeth, and looked torn.

Evan: Yeah, maybe. I don't have one of those yet. That's the Bonnie?

Cassidy: Yeah, they're like 1,200 tickets each. We can play some arcade games together to try and get one.

Evan: *yawns* That might be fun.

Their moment was interrupted by Michael, wearing the Foxy mask, slamming his hand on the ticket counter while smirking under his mask.

Michael: Hey, loser! Happy birthday!

Evan: *flinches* Michael, stop!

But before he could say anything more, Simon, donning the Chica mask, joined in mockingly.

Simon: *mockingly* Yeah, Michael stop. He's gonna cry. *laughs*

Evam: *voice trembling with fear* You freak me out, Michael... I'll tell Mom and Dad!

Michael: *eyes narrowed dangerously* If you wanna keep that stupid bear, you won't tell mom and dad shit!

Cassidy tried to intervene, her voice shaking in anger.

Cassidy: You guys are such bullies! Seriously?! Back off! It's Evan's birthday!

But her words fell on deaf ears as Frederick pushed her to the floor, sneering at her.

Frederick: Can it, you little bitch. *glares at Evan* I can't believe you need a girl to defend you, Evan.

Mark: Wow, your brother's more of a baby than I thought.

Michael: It's hilarious. Why don't we help him get a closer look at his favorite bear ever? He'll love it!

Evan: No, please!

Frederick grabbed his arm to prevent him from running away.

Michael: *grabbed Evan's other arm* Come on, guys! Let's give the little man a lift. He wants to get up close and personal.

Evan: No, I don't wanna go!

Michael and his friends grabbed Evan, ignoring his frantic struggles as they carried him toward the stage.

Michael: You heard the little man! He wants to get even closer.

Henry, noticed the the commotion and his eyes widened.

Henry: Hey, get off the stage!

He ran towards them, but he was too far from them. Michael and his friends were soon in front of the stage.

Michael: Hey, guys. I think the little man said he wanted to give Fredbear a big kiss.

Mark: *mockingly* Aw, that's adorable.

Michael: On the count of three. *starts counting* One...

Cassidy gasped, realizing what they were about to do. She got up from the floor and rushed to stop them.

Cassidy: No!

Michael: Two...

Henry was closing in.

Henry: Stop!

Evan looked up at Fredbear, in his point of view, Fredbear turned into a nightmarish version of himself with sharp teeth and claws.

Michael: Three!

Michael and his friends shoved Evan's head into Fredbear's mouth. Evan's eyes were wide with terror.

Evan: *crying* Michael, stop! I'm scared!

CRUNCH

That sound echoed through the diner, followed by a splatter of blood. Evan's body went limp with blood flowing from his head, much to the horror of Cassidy, Henry, Michael, and his friends, and the shock of almost everyone else.

Cassidy: Evan...

Michael: *takes off his mask* Evan...

Henry: Oh, no.

Almost everyone began to panic while William emerged from the bathroom, then got confused by the screams and commotion.

William: What the hell is...

His heart stopped when he saw his son in Fredbear's mouth, blood dripping onto the stage.

William: Oh, shit!

He rushed to the scene, pushing through the crowd until he was in front of the stage staring in horror at his son's lifeless body.

He then looked at Michael with contorted grief and rage.

William: What did you do, Michael!?

Michael: I-I didn't mean to. I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! *falls on his knees while tearing up*

Ryan, the second oldest of the family, burst into the room with his girlfriend, Vanessa.

Ryan: What's going on...?

When he saw Evan's lifeless body in Fredbear's mouth, he froze in shock with Vanessa covering her mouth completely horrified.

Ryan: Evan...

Elizabeth, their little sister, followed, her eyes widening in horror as she entered the room with Charlie Emily who was also horrified at what she saw.

Elizabeth: Evan... No...

Michael glanced at Mary, who was staring in horror. He knew then how badly he had messed up.

William rushed to the stage to pry Fredbear's mouth open.

William: Henry, help me get him out of this thing!

Henry nodded, he rushed up and helped William carefully pry Fredbear's mouth open, freeing Evan. Henry put a finger on Evan's neck to find a pulse, he felt a faint beat.

Henry: Will, he's still alive. We need to call an ambulance, now!

One of the nearby workers rushed to call an ambulance, meanwhile Ryan still in shock soon turned to anger, he grabbed the nearest tormentor which was Mark, and demanded in anger.

Ryan: What the hell did you do!?

Mark: *guilt and fear* It was supposed to be a prank... This wasn't supposed to happen!

Ryan: And look where that 'prank' got him. *throws Mark to the floor* You better hope that he isn't dead, you son of a bitch!

An ambulance soon arrived to take Evan to the hospital, the paramedics placed Evan on a stretcher and loaded him to the ambulance. William and his children got in the car and drove home to inform Clara, William's wife and the children's mother, about Evan. When she heard the news, she was devastated and they immediately rushed to the hospital to check on Evan.

(At the hospital)

The Afton family sat in the sterile hospital hallway, the fluorescent lights casting a harsh glow on their worried faces. William paced back and forth, his eyes constantly flicking towards Evan's room. Clara held Elizabeth close, comforting her as tears streamed down both their faces. Ryan sat with his arms crossed, glaring at Michael, who slumped in his chair, guilt weighing heavily on him.

The door to Evan's room opened, and a doctor stepped out. Clara immediately stood up, clutching Elizabeth tighter.

Clara: *voice trembling* Doctor, is my son okay?

The doctor sighed, his face somberly.

Doctor: We managed to stabilize him, but Fredbear's bite has caused severe damage to his brain. I don't know how much time he has left but I suggest you all go in and say your goodbyes.

The words hit them like a sledgehammer, each family member reacting to their own horror. For Michael, it was a dagger through his heart. Evan was going to die.

They entered the room slowly, their footsteps echoing in the silence. Evan lay on the bed, hooked up to a breathing mask, bandages covering his head. The beep of the heart monitor was the only sound, a cruel reminder of the fragility of life.

Michael rushed to Evan's side.

Michael: *voice breaking* Evan?

Evan's eyes fluttered open at the sound of his older brother's voice. He looked up at Michael.

Evan: *weakly* M...Michael?

Michael: Evan, I'm so sorry for what I did to you, bud. I just wanted you to grow up and stand up for yourself.

Evan: I-I...fo...

Before he could utter the words of forgiveness, he took his last breath, and the heart rate monitor flatlined.

Michael's eyes widened in horror with tears streaming down his face. The doctor walked up and checked Evan's pulse, then looked up at the family, his face filled with sorrow.

The room erupted in grief. Elizabeth clung to Clara, who held her tightly, both of them sobbing uncontrollably. William faced the wall and punched it hard, his head leaning against the cold surface as he tried to contain his anguish.

Ryan left the room silently, his eyes hidden beneath the shadow of his hair. Michael noticed and followed him. He found Ryan pressing his head against the wall, his arm braced against it, his fist clenched tightly.

Michael: Ryan, are you okay?

Ryan spun around, his eyes blazing in fury with tears in them, and shoved Michael against the wall. He started punching Michael's face with unrestrained anger, each punch accompanied by a furious question.

Ryan: Are you proud? *punch* Did you enjoy your little prank? *punch* Huh? Did you?

Michael took the blows without resistance, his guilt overwhelming him. Ryan was about to strike again but stopped, instead punching the wall, leaving a web-shaped crack. He stepped back, and Michael slid down the wall, his face bruised and bloody.

The rest of the family burst into the hallway, witnessing the aftermath. Ryan simply walked away, his voice hollow.

Ryan: I'll wait in the waiting room.

Clara rushed to Michael, her hands gently cradling his face.

Clara: Oh, Michael...

(Later)

After that day, all of them attended Evan's funeral. Henry and his family attended the funeral as well as Cassidy and her family, and Vanessa and her family. Michael even caught a glimpse of Mary at the funeral.

Back at home, the tension reached a breaking point. William grabbed Michael by the collar, his face twisted with fury. He punched Michael while yelling.

William: *angered* Are you proud of what you did? Your brother is dead because of you!

Michael: *sobbing* Dad, stop! I'm sorry!

Clara stepped in front of Michael, stopping William.

Clara: William, stop!

William: *angered* Move, Clara!

What she said next shocked him.

Clara: You are not your father, Will. Don't become him.

William froze, looking at Michael. He saw a beaten and bruised teenage version of himself in Michael's place for a moment. He turned to a nearby mirror and saw his father's reflection staring back at him before it changed in place with him. The realization hit him hard.

William: I'm sorry.

He looked down and walked away, the weight of his actions bearing down on him.

Michael fell to the floor, sobbing uncontrollably. Clara knelt beside him, pulling him into a tight embrace.

Clara: We'll get through this Michael. Somehow, we will.

Elizabeth, still trembling, joined the embrace, seeking comfort in her family's unity. Ryan stood at the doorway, his expression unreadable. Despite his anger, he couldn't deny the bond they shared in their grief.
