The voice drew the attention of the four people in the room.

"Chase, what are you going here?" Jackie asked as she went over to give him a hug.

"I could ask you the same thing. What is this." He held up the newspaper, mad at how his close friend was getting smeared by his mother.

"You know I have always been very thorough with my work. The people of Port Charles deserve to know who is protecting them." Jackie replied.

Chase was not amused. "A wonderful woman who is just now getting to go after her dreams? We're lucky to have her."

Jackie rolled her eyes as she walked away from her son. "Boy has she got you fooled."

Chase was caught off guard by that comment. "Have you two met?"

Jackie sat down at her desk. "No but I don't need to to know that apple doesn't fall far from the tree." She spat back and glared at Holly.

Holly bit her tongue, Chase was handling this beautifully.

"Funny people could think the same of me. A ruthless mother who will do anything to get a story including hurting someone she has never even met. What does that say about me?" Chase asked Jackie, unknown to him Jayne had walked in.

Jackie looked at her son, surprised at how he was defending Holly's daughter. "Is she really this important to you?"

"She's quickly become one of my best friends, she's had to get used to people stealing her away from her parents and adjusting to a whole new country, she doesn't need this." Chase told his mother.

Jackie rolled her eyes and threw her hands in the air. "Fine I will print a retraction."

Chase shook his head. "Not good enough, you owe her an apology."

Jackie looked behind Chase. "Fine, sorry."

Jayne smiled, he had really just went to bat for her along with her parents. "Thank you."

Robert and Holly could not help but smile, both impressed by how Chase stood up for Jayne. "What do you say we go grab some lunch? Chase you are welcomed to join us."

"Thanks commissioner." Chase said as he shook his hand.

"I wish I could but I have a lead to follow up. I'll let you know how it goes Holly." Felicia said her goodbyes then left.

Robert, Holly, Jayne and Chase went to the Metro Court for lunch.

"I'm telling you you were great, I've known Jackie for a long time and I've never seen her back down like that." Robert was impressed.

"She's stubborn for sure but so am I." Chase turned to Jayne. "I'm sorry for what she did."

Jayne waved her hand. "I'm grateful for what you did. Thank you."

Holly couldn't help but smile, Chase really went to bat for Jayne and it took her back to when Robert did the same for her.
