Chapter 15
Andy shifted himself on their bed so that his head was now nestled into Sharon's chest. His left leg was draped over hers and he was tracing circles on her right hip with his fingers. Sharon's fingers were running through his hair, drawing a pattern at the nape of his neck. "Tell me a story" he muttered into her flesh as he kissed her collarbone. "Hmm, what story do you want to hear?" she whispered as her hand moved from his neck down to his back. "How you fell in love with me" he whispered in her ear which sent a shiver down her body. "The first time I investigated you" she told him and he moved his lips from her collarbone and looked at her face. "There was something about you back then, I knew I had to keep my eye on you" she continued as she ran her hands along his back, lazily making a pattern Andy couldn't figure out. He moved his left hand from her right hip and reached for her right hand and held it in his. "Then, when we caught Ally Moore the first time, when everyone left the morgue, you stayed behind and waited for me" she continued and hummed. He smiled as he moved his head so he could look at her. "I knew right there that I wanted to be closer to you" he confessed as he curled his left foot underneath her left leg, tangling their legs together. "We went out for dinner a lot" she smiled at the memory as she continued to caress his back dragging her fingers up and down his spine. "Then I got stabbed" he muttered as he moved his lips to her neck. Sharon let out another hum. "I thought I was going to lose you" she confessed as Andy moved his head to look at her face. He saw she was trying to get her emotions under control. He moved his face closer to hers. "Never" he whispered as he shifted again, up on his right arm, and leaned down to kiss her lips. It was sweet and gentle. Sharon moved her left hand to his face. She drew her fingers down his jaw as they looked into each other's eyes. "God Sharon, I love you" he confessed as he let go of her right hand and moved his left hand up her body till it caressed her jaw. They kissed each other, this time it was a fierce kiss, full of passion. He pulled her on top of him, she tangled her legs over his as her hands went to his chest as they still kissed.
Hours later, Sharon woke up and turned over on the bed and saw Andy was asleep. She gently moved off of the bed and wrapped her robe that was on the chair, around her body and headed into the bathroom. When she came out several minutes later, she walked over to her dresser, not trying to make any noise, she opened the top drawer and took out her purple nightgown. She removed her robe and slipped the nightgown over her head. She then walked back over to their bed and slipped back in underneath the covers. Andy stirred as he felt the bed dip when Sharon came back and he turned over to face her back. He wrapped his arm around her and pulled her closer to him as they both fell back asleep.
Andy woke up to Sharon lightly running her fingers in circles on his chest. "How long have you been awake?" he whispered and she smiled. "Not too long" she answered softly as she leaned over and kissed him. "Is it time to get up?" he asked her as he shifted his weight to his left arm so that he could face her. "I was going to check on Matthew in a few minutes and then get ready for work" she told him as he caressed her face with his right hand. "While you do that, I'll make you breakfast" Andy muttered to her as he leaned in and kissed her again. She deepened their kiss which made Andy fall back on his back and Sharon moved on top of him. She kissed him again and then as quickly as she moved on top of him, she was now standing next to their bed walking away from him. He was admiring the view as she walked to her dresser and started to get herself ready. Andy laid there for a few minutes, calming himself down. His body was on fire from their last kiss. Sharon moved from their closet with her pant suit and blouse and brought them into their bathroom to hang up. She placed her long robe over her body and tied the sash around her waist. When she stepped out and looked over at him, still in their bed, she smiled. "You ok over there?" she asked, with a slight chuckle. "You know what you do to me" he gruffed as he started to sit up slowly from their bed. He stood up and placed his boxers back on and then turned around. "I'm going to check on Matthew" she softly told him and he nodded his head. He watched her walk out of their room and move across the hallway. He went into their closet and pulled on a pair of sweatpants before throwing a t-shirt over his head.
Sharon opened the door to Matthew's room and saw that he was sitting up in his bed, playing with his toys. "Hey sweetie" she spoke as she moved closer to the bed. "How are you feeling this morning?" she asked as she sat down next to him. "I feel ok" Matthew told her as he moved his Batman figure across his bed. "Can I look at your eyes?" she asked as she placed her hand on his shoulder. Matthew turned his head so his mom could look at him. "It's hard to tell in this room without the overhead light on, why don't you step out into the hallway?" she told him and he climbed off his bed, Moxie following him and all three of them walked out into the hallway. "Do you feel dizzy?" she asked him as he stood out there. Matthew shook his head no. He bent his head backwards and Sharon got a better look at his eyes. She could see the bruising starting to change colors to a deeper purple but saw that his pupils were back to a normal size. She released her breath she didn't know she was holding. Andy stepped out of their room and saw the two of them standing in the hallway with Moxie. "Everything ok?" he asked her. "His eyes are back to normal size" she looked over at Andy and he could tell she was relieved. "Good" he said as he walked closer to them. "Matthew, why don't you go downstairs and you can help me make breakfast for mom while she gets herself ready for work" Andy told him and he took Moxie and ran down the stairs. "Be careful!" Sharon called out after Matthew and then shook her head when she walked into Andy's embrace.
"Are you sure you two will be ok today while I'm at work?" she mumbled into his shoulder as he rubbed her back. "Of course, sweetheart" he told her as he kissed the top of her head. "Ok, let me go take a shower and get ready then, before I change my mind" she smiled at him as he released her from his arms and as she walked away back into their bedroom, Andy smiled and watched her. "Definitely need a cold shower" he whispered out loud to no one as he made his way downstairs. He walked into the kitchen and found Matthew sitting at the island on one of the stools there. "Ok, what should we make mom for breakfast?" he asked him as he walked over to the fridge. "How about pancakes?" Matthew suggested. "Hmm, pancakes? Aren't those your favorite?" Andy asked and Matthew started laughing. "I'll make some pancakes, but what else?" Andy took out the eggs, the bowl of fruit that was already cut up, and the butter from the fridge, closing the door and placing all of the items on the counter. He then went to the pantry and brought the canister of wheat flour to the counter as well. "Can you get the milk out?" he asked Matthew as he made his way back to the pantry. Matthew got off the stool and opened the fridge, pulling the milk out and placing it on the counter. Andy came back with the baking powder and vegetable oil. "Ok, I think we are ready to make the pancakes" Andy rubbed his hands together after getting a mixing bowl from the cabinet and setting it on the island.
Sharon was in the bathroom, just finishing her shower, and stepped out with a towel wrapped around her body. She dried herself off and started to get dressed. As she looked at herself in the mirror, she couldn't help but think of the wonderful night her and Andy shared last night. She loved dancing with him. He had chosen all the right songs that played some sort of significance in their lives. The way he had set up the backyard, it was very romantic. She glanced behind her at the bathtub and reminisced on the bath they shared last night. She took a deep breath as she put her blouse on and tucked it into her pants. She then moved around the bathroom gathering the towels and placed them in the hamper. She made her way back to their closet and took her holster from the gun locker and placed it on her belt. She then grabbed her badge and handcuffs. Walking back into the bathroom, she looked herself over in the mirror one more time before turning the lights off in both rooms and headed downstairs.
As she made her way into the kitchen, she saw Andy by the stove and Matthew was sitting at the island. She walked over to Andy as he was cooking and ran her hand along his back. Andy turned his head to look at her and he gave her a smile. "You look gorgeous" he whispered to her, kissed her lips, and then turned his attention to flipping the last few pancakes. She smiled and then turned her attention to Matthew. "And are you still doing ok?" she asked as she sat next to him at the island. "Yes" Matthew mumbled as he stuffed a piece of pancake into his mouth that was a little too big as he chewed it. "Oh my" Sharon chuckled as she watched him and then took a napkin and wiped the syrup that was running down his face. "Well, who's idea was it to have pancakes this morning?" she smiled as she placed some on her plate. Andy turned around and brought the last of the pancakes to the island and pointed at Matthew with the spatula he was holding. "Hmm, my favorite" she leaned over and kissed the top of Matthew's head. Andy joined them at the island and they ate breakfast.
"So, can I go to camp tomorrow, because I feel fine" Matthew asked Sharon as she was putting her work bag together in the den. He was standing in the hallway looking into the room. "Well, if you stay out of trouble today with your dad, then, yes, you can go to camp tomorrow" Sharon said, grabbing her bag, and turning around to look at him. "I promise!" Matthew smiled and then ran into the family room. Sharon met Andy in the kitchen as he was cleaning up the breakfast plates. "So, I told Matthew he could go to camp tomorrow if he stays out of trouble today" Sharon told him as she watched him clean up the last of the plates. Andy wiped his hands on the towel as he stepped closer to her. "Well," he spoke softly as he wrapped his arms around her waist. "I will try to keep him out of trouble today" he muttered as he leaned down and kissed her on her lips. "I hope you'll stay out of trouble too" she softly spoke back to him and smiled. "I'll try my best" he smiled and she rolled her eyes, shaking her head. "So, I'm going to take the afternoon off and maybe I could join the two of you for lunch?" Sharon said as she grabbed her bag and purse and Andy started walking her to the back door. "I'm going to take Matthew for a hair cut this morning, maybe I'll get one too" Andy shrugged his shoulders. "Hmm, your hair is getting a little long too" she looked at him and then leaned up to kiss him goodbye. "I love you" he told her. "I love you" she said and then turned to walk towards the garage, opening the garage door. She got in her car, placing her things on the passenger seat and then backed her car out of the garage and drove down the driveway.
Andy watched her pull out of the garage and closed the back door. He headed to where Matthew was in the Family Room. "So" he said as he rubbed his hands together. "We have some things we need to do before your mom comes back home this afternoon" he told the kid. "Like what?" Matthew looked up at his dad as he sat on the couch with the TV on. "Well, you need a haircut, and maybe I'll get one too, then we need to cut the grass, front and backyard, and maybe if we have time, we can go get some flowers to plant, make it look nice for mom?" Andy told him. "Ok" was the only thing Matthew said as he watched the TV. Andy stood there looking at him and then glanced at the clock on the wall. "We will leave in 30 minutes" he said and the boy nodded his head. Andy then headed upstairs to change his clothes.
Meanwhile as Sharon drove into work, her phone rang over the car audio. She pressed a button on the steering wheel to answer the incoming call. "Yes Lieutenant, what can I do for you?" she said as Provenza called her. "Commander, just wanted to know how Matthew was doing this morning and if you were on your way into work as well" Provenza asked her. "Yes, I'm on my way in now. Matthew is doing ok" she answered as she was waiting at a stop light to turn left. "Good, that's good to hear, Commander" Provenza told her. "Did we catch a case, Lieutenant?" Sharon asked him. "No, everyone here is working on the paperwork from yesterday" Provenza said. "Ok, well, I am just pulling into the parking garage now, you can brief me on what happened after Andy and I left when I get in" Sharon told him. "Of course, Commander" Provenza ended the call.
Sharon parked her car in her spot, grabbing her things, and then made her way to the elevators. She stepped into the elevator car when the doors opened and pressed the button for the ninth floor. The doors closed and the elevator started moving up, but it stopped on the first floor. Winne Davis stepped in the elevator and saw Sharon was standing to the side. She turned to press the third-floor button and then the elevator started to move again. Sharon really wasn't in the mood to butt heads with Winnie this morning. "Well, Captain, I mean Commander, sorry, I guess I'll never get used to that" Winnie shook her head but continued "it's good that your team solved your case yesterday" Winnie said without looking at Sharon. Sharon glared over at her when she called her Captain. The elevator stopped at the third floor and Winnie Davis stepped out and walked away. When the elevators door closed again and started moving, Sharon took a deep breath and let it out slowly.
Sharon stepped off the elevator on the ninth floor and proceeded to her office. As she opened the door to the Major Crimes division, she could hear Provenza and Mike talking. "Good morning, Lieutenants" she said as she passed the desks and headed to her office. "Good morning, Commander" both Mike and Provenza said simultaneously. Sharon placed her bag and purse on her desk and sat down on her chair. She then turned her computer on and opened her desk drawer, placing her purse inside it. She placed her bag underneath her desk and began her day.
Meanwhile, back at the Flynn household, Andy was upstairs getting dressed when Matthew knocked on their bedroom door. "Dad?" Matthew called out as he stepped inside the room. "Yeh bud" Andy called out from the bathroom where he was brushing his teeth. Matthew stepped around the corner and saw him. "I'm ready to go" Matthew said as Andy was wiping his hands on the towel. Andy turned around to see him. Matthew was wearing a t-shirt and a pair of shorts. "Where are your socks and shoes?" Andy asked him as he made his way out of the bathroom, turning the light off on his way out. "In the hallway" Matthew said as he jumped on Andy and Sharon's bed. "Be careful!" Andy told him as he went to his dresser and pulled out a pair of socks for himself. "Your mother will kill me if you injure yourself while I'm watching you today" he added and shook his head at him. "Come on, go put your socks and shoes on" Andy told him and Matthew jumped off the bed and ran into the hallway. He sat on the floor and put his socks and shoes on. Andy tousled his hair as he walked by and headed down the stairs.
Matthew followed him and stopped in the kitchen. Andy grabbed his wallet and keys and the two of them headed towards the back door. "Bye Moxie we'll be back!" Matthew told the dog as the dog looked at both of them and wagged his tail. Matthew walked out the door and Andy closed the door behind them, locking it. They made their way towards the garage. "Where are we going first?" Matthew asked as Andy unlocked the garage door. "Well, we are going to get your hair cut, and then we will run other errands" Andy told him as he opened the big door and Matthew got into the car. "Can I get a mohawk?" Matthew asked as they were both in the car and Andy was backing the car out of the driveway. "Uh, no" Andy told him. "Are you getting your hair cut too?" Matthew asked as they were driving down the street. "If time allows, yes" Andy answered as he drove. "Can I shave my head?" Matthew asked as the car came to a stop. "No, your mom would not like that" Andy answered as they waited for the light to change.
They drove a little further until Andy turned the car into the parking lot of the shopping center. There was a little barber shop inside that Andy knew the owner. He parked the car and Matthew and him got out and started walking over to the barber shop. As Andy opened the door, he was greeted by Al, the owner of the shop. "Lieutenant, nice to see you this morning" Al said as he walked over to them. "Hey Al, good to see you" Andy shook his hand. "And who's this?" Al asked as he saw Matthew looking at all the things inside. "This is Matthew, Sharon and I adopted him a year and a half ago" Andy smiled and Al's eyes widened. "Oh, I see, well hello Matthew, it's nice to meet you" Al told him as he gestured for Matthew to take a seat. "So, what can I do for you this morning?" he asked Andy. "Well, he needs a haircut and I could use one too if you've got time" Andy said, pointing to Matthew. "Sure, we can do both" Al clapped his hands together. "Do you want a shave as well?" he asked Andy as he moved some things over to where Matthew was sitting. "Uh, no, I'm good on that, thanks though" Andy ran his hands over his stubble on his face and smiled. "Alright then, let's get started" Al looked at Matthew and placed a black bib around his neck to cover his shirt.
Back at the PAB, Sharon was sitting in her office when she heard a knock on her door. "Come in" she said without looking up from her computer. Assistant Chief Mason walked in and closed the door behind him. "Commander, I just wanted to congratulate you and your team on a good job solving that murder quickly yesterday" he told her as he sat down across from her desk. "Thank you Chief" she nodded her head as she turned in her seat to focus on him. "My team is just doing the paperwork now" she added and folded her hands together on top of her desk. "So, what can I do for you this morning?" she asked him. "I want to discuss something that we touched upon in my office the other day" Mason informed her. "Oh? What is it?" Sharon inquired. "You know the advance training we discussed for your division" Mason continued. "Yes, the advance operations enforcement training?" Sharon stated as she shifted in her seat. Somehow, she had a feeling that her request was going to be denied. "Yes, well it turns out that there's no more room in that training for your team" Mason informed her. "And why is that?" Sharon asked. "Well, apparently the spots that were open are now closed, filled in by task force members of JTTF liaisons from the LAPD" Mason explained. Sharon shook her head. "Look I know that a few days ago your team was going to be slotted for this, but when I went to submit their names this morning, the spots were already filled" Mason continued to explain. "By let me guess, Chief Davis" Sharon said and folded her arms against her chest.
"I can't confirm that she did this, Sharon, but I will find out exactly what happened" Mason told her and she nodded. "Anything else?" Sharon asked as they sat across from one another. "I do hope you know that Chief Pope really does appreciate Major Crimes handling these cases with professionalism and dedication of your team members" Mason stated as he stood up. Sharon gave him a smile and watched him walk out of her office. She sighed as she leaned back in her chair. She glanced at her watch and continued to work on the paperwork. Another knock on her door and she glanced up. "Come in" she said. Provenza walked through her door this time. "Commander, I thought I would give you your brief now since Chief Mason left" Provenza said as he took a seat in front of her desk. "By the way, what did he want?" he asked her. "Oh, just to tell me that the training I had placed the team in is no longer happening for us as the seats have magically disappeared" Sharon told him and Provenza could tell by her tone that she was not amused. "Huh, well, more free time to solve cases I guess" he muttered to her and she gave him a slight smile as he started to explain what happened after her and Andy left yesterday.
Back at the Barber Shop, Matthew was all done with his hair cut, and now Andy was sitting in the chair as Al started to cut his hair short like how Andy had told him. "Are you sure mommy is going to like your hair like that?" Matthew asked as he twirled around in the chair next to Andy. "I'm sure kiddo" Andy smiled as Al continued. After they got their haircuts, Andy and Matthew then went to the garden center across the street. "What are we going to get here?" Matthew asked as he walked through the different plant sections of the place. "Well, we need to plant some flowers for the front and back of the house, which ones do you think we should get?" Andy asked as he pointed to the rows of flowers. "I think mommy would like the purple ones" Matthew picked up a tray of purple petunias. "Ok, we can get those, how about the pink ones too?" Andy asked and Matthew nodded in agreement. After getting several trays of flowers, Andy went to the cashier and paid for them. He and Matthew then brought the flowers over to the car and loaded them into the back section. They made their way back home and once Andy pulled the car into the garage, they unloaded the flowers, bringing some of the trays to the back of the house, and the rest of the trays to the front. "Alright, before we start planting these, the grass needs to be cut" Andy rubbed his hands together as they walked towards the back yard. "I'll cut the back grass first so you and Moxie can play out here" he added and Matthew ran to the back door and waited.
Moxie and Matthew were playing in the yard while Andy was mowing the back grass. Every turn he did with the lawnmower he would look up to see what Matthew and the dog were doing. Matthew was currently sitting on one of the chairs with the dog by his side. Andy continued to push the lawnmower and about a half hour later, the back grass was done. Andy looked over the yard and brought the lawnmower to the driveway. He walked into the garage and got the trimmer out. "What are you going to do now?" Matthew asked as Andy walked into the yard with the trimmer. "Well, to make it look really nice, I'm going to trim all the edges that I couldn't get to with the mower" he explained to the kid. "Can I do it?" Matthew asked and Andy hesitated. "Um, well" he said as he looked at Matthew and then the yard. "How about you trim this area over here?" he said to him and pointed to a small area of the yard next to the patio. "Ok!" Matthew jumped up and took the trimmer from Andy. "Now hang on a second, you can't just rush into it" he told him and then showed Matthew how to use the trimmer. "You have to press this button down while holding this button underneath" he showed him and Matthew nodded his head. "Do you think you got it?" he asked. "Uh huh" Matthew said and pressed the two buttons and started trimming. He let go of the trimmer as it the bottom fell to the grass. Matthew cringed at the sight. "Ooops!" he said and Andy grimaced. "That's ok" he told him. "Um, why don't you do the rest of it" Matthew handed the trimmer back to his dad and sat back down on the patio with Moxie. Andy watched him walk away. He placed the trimmer standing up against the couch and walked over to where Matthew was sitting on the patio stones. He knelt down to look at him. "Hey, you ok?" he asked. Matthew moved his head to look at him. "Sorry I ruined the grass" Matthew muttered. "You didn't ruin the grass, kiddo" Andy shook his head.
Andy glanced at his watch and saw that it was now 11:30. His phone alerted to a text message and he pulled it out of his shorts pocket and saw that Sharon had sent him a message. 'How's your morning going?' she asked. 'Good, cut hair cuts and cut the back grass, Matthew is fine' he sent the message to her but then added another one. 'How's your morning? Hopefully Provenza is behaving himself' he sent to her. 'Your partner is not the problem, for once, lol' he read her next message. 'Paperwork is all filed and I'm getting ready to leave for the afternoon. I can pick up lunch or what did you have in mind?' she sent another message and he read that one. 'Lunch is good, your boys are getting hungry' he responded back. 'I love you' her next message said. Andy smiled. 'I love you too' he quickly typed and sent out, placing his phone back in his pocket. "Alright, we have about 30 to 40 minutes until your mom gets home and we want the flowers to be a surprise so we need to get moving" Andy told Matthew. "Why don't you bring Moxie inside and then you and I can go in the front and cut the grass" he added and Matthew stood up and Moxie followed him, Matthew opened the back door and Moxie went inside. Matthew closed the screen door and followed Andy over to the driveway.
Meanwhile, Sharon was gathering her things and putting the files away in the cabinet next to her desk. There was a commotion outside of her office. She glanced over to see through her blinds what was happening outside and saw Jack yelling at Provenza. She sighed and stood up from her chair, walked over to her office door and opened it. She stood at the door frame with her arms folded across her chest watching the scene. "Commander, it seems that your ex-husband has some sort of issue with barging in here unannounced" Provenza informed Sharon. She leaned her head to one side and then proceeded to walk closer to the two. "Thank you, Lieutenant," she told Provenza and then turned towards Jack. "Jack, why are you here?" she asked him. Jack glanced over at Andy's desk and didn't see him. "What, no husband to fight for you today?" Jack sneered back. Sharon smirked at his comment. "I'm going to ask again, why are you here?" Sharon asked again. "I wanted to talk to you about Emily" Jack stated as he looked at Sharon. "What about her?" Sharon inquired. "Did you know that her apartment building caught fire the other day?" he said to her. "Yes, she called Andy when the fire alarms were going off in the morning and Andy went over to see what was happening, he brought her back over to our house" Sharon informed him and could see the disgust on his face when she mentioned that Emily had called Andy instead of him. "Hmm, he gets notified right away and I only hear of it when I took her to lunch the other day?" Jack responded. "I don't know what to tell you, Jack" Sharon stood her ground as Jack kept looking at her. "So where is he?" Jack asked but Sharon just shook her head slightly. "Why do you want to know?" she asked him. "I don't, just curious, wanting to see when the day will be that you get tired of him" he had a smug look on his face. Sharon glared back at him. "Well, I better be on my way, I actually was on the fifth floor earlier and thought since I was in the building I would come up here" Jack told her and then turned around, waving to the rest of the squad and walked out of the office.
"He's up to something" Provenza muttered and Sharon heard him. "I agree, Lieutenant, but what exactly?" Sharon asked and Provenza shrugged his shoulders. "I'm going to be heading out in a few minutes minus any more interruptions" Sharon informed him. "Call me if we get a case today" she added and Provenza nodded his head. "Of course," he answered and then went back to his crossword puzzle he was working on. Sharon went back into her office, grabbed her things, and then headed out towards the elevators. 'Why was Jack on the fifth floor this morning?' she wondered to herself as the elevator doors opened and she stepped inside. The elevator took her down to the parking garage and didn't stop on any other floor, to Sharon's relief. She stepped out and walked towards her parking spot. Unlocking her car, she got into the driver's side, placing her bag and purse on the passenger seat and closed her door. She started her car, texted Andy that she was leaving, and then drove her car out of the parking garage and towards the sandwich shop that was close to their home.
Back at the Flynn house, Andy was done cutting the front grass and Matthew was sweeping the grass clippings from the sidewalk to the grass. Andy decided to leave the lawnmower in the front and walked over to the flower beds at the front of the windows. "Ok, I think we will put both purple and pink ones here, and then the yellow and purple ones along the rocks here" he said pointing at the locations to show Matthew. "I think mommy will like it!" Matthew was excited and then started helping Andy dig the holes for the flowers.
A half hour later, Sharon pulled into the driveway and saw Andy and Matthew in the back yard, working on something she couldn't tell. She smiled as she pulled her car into the garage, placing it in park and turning off the engine. She stepped out of the driver's side and stepped around to the passenger side to get her bag, purse, and their lunch out of the car. Before she could do that, she was greeted by Matthew. "Hi mommy!" he said as he gave her a hug. "Oh, hello Matthew" she hugged him back. "Oh, let me look at your haircut!" she told him and he moved back a little bit. "Hmm, do you like it?" she asked him. "Yes! Daddy took me to the barber shop this morning and then we have a surprise for you!" he smiled. "Oh, you do? Well, can you take this bag with our lunch to the house and then you can show me the surprise" she asked him and handed the bag with their sandwiches to Matthew. He took the bag and then ran over to the back door of the house, placing the bag on the coffee table that was outside by the couch. Andy looked over at Sharon who was walking up the path towards him. He grinned and she smiled back, looking him over. He was sweaty from the yard work. She walked up to him and kissed him. "Hi" she whispered. "Hi" he whispered back and kissed her lips again. "Matthew says there's a surprise for me?" she leaned back to look at him. "You got a haircut too" she ran her free hand through the back of his head, feeling the short hairs on her fingers, caressing the spot on Andy's neck that drove him crazy. "I did, but that's not your surprise" Andy said in a low voice. Sharon hummed as Andy moved to the left a little bit and pointed to the newly planted flowers around the patio. "Oh, my! They're beautiful!" Sharon smiled. "Do you like them mom?" he asked her. "Oh, I most certainly do!" she stated smiling at both her boys at the moment.
"Come on, let's go eat lunch inside the house" Andy suggested as he placed the hand shovel on the ground and Sharon placed her arm around his back as they walked towards the back door together. "I'm all sweaty" he muttered to her in her ear and she laughed. "Go, get cleaned up! Both of you!" Sharon told them and Matthew ran to the bathroom in the hallway while Andy went to the kitchen sink to wash his hands. Sharon looked at him as she took the sandwiches out of the bag that was on the island. "I'll take a shower after I eat lunch" he told her and she smiled. Just then, Matthew came back into the kitchen with Moxie following him. "So, how are you feeling?" she asked Matthew. "I'm good Mom, I can go to camp tomorrow and then my baseball game on Saturday" Matthew said as he sat down at the kitchen table. "Oh really?" Sharon said as she glanced at Andy who was wiping his hands on the towel. "No headaches, dizziness, pain?" she asked Matthew as she brought his sandwich on a plate to him. "No" Matthew answered and started to eat. "He's been fine all morning, Sharon" Andy told her as he brought both their sandwiches over as she sat down at the table.
"So, what was new at the office this morning?" Andy asked her as they finished their lunch and it was just the two of them still sitting there. "Ugh, well, for one thing, Winnie Davis stole our spots at the advance training exercises" Sharon said in a disgusted tone. Andy reached over and grabbed her hand in his, giving it a gentle squeeze as he leaned back in his seat. "And how do you know that?" he asked her. "Mason came into my office this morning once I got in and told me, in not so many words" Sharon rolled her eyes as she huffed. "He said Winnie Davis took our spots?" Andy asked her to clarify. Sharon glared over at him. "Not directly, no, but he didn't deny it either when I asked him" she told him. He leaned forward and looked at her. "And I had a little encounter in the elevator this morning with her" she continued as Andy listened to her. "She steps in the elevator on the first floor, and dares to call me Captain, then quickly changing it to Commander, brushing off her little slip up by saying that she still isn't used to my promotion?" Sharon ranted as she looked at Andy. Andy smiled and brushed his hand up against her jaw, tracing it. "Sweetheart, she just does that to rile you up" he told her in a low voice. She sighed and closed her eyes, enjoying the small caress from him.
Sharon sighed again as she looked at Andy. "Anything else troubling you?" he asked her as he moved his hand to her hand and squeezed it. "Jack also showed up at the office" she huffed and shifted in her seat. "What did he want?" Andy asked as he stiffened where he was. "I'm not really sure, but he said he wanted to talk about Emily, and if I knew that her building had a fire" Sharon explained to him. Andy looked at her. "And what did you tell him?" he asked. "I told him that Emily called you that morning and you went over to figure things out" she said and Andy laughed. "And how did he take that?" he asked her. "Not well" she answered.
