I hope that all of you are enjoying this new story so far. I'll be switching back and forth on updating this one and the other fanfic from now on. I've been pretty excited to update this one more. Enjoy the chapter.
Chapter 5: The Start of Something Dangerous
Izuku is sitting in class scribbling down notes in a small notebook. The teacher is giving their last speech as he picks up a stack of papers from his desk. The boy looks up from his notebook when he feels the tingling in his head. He looks around the class as the teacher keeps talking.
"Now I could hand out all these career sheets to you all but why bother? I know you all want to be heroes!"
The man shouts the last part while throwing the papers into the air. The students all cheer and activate their quirks in flashy displays. The only two not doing anything are Izuku and Katsuki. Izuku only smiled at the thought of his application for U.A highschool. He has not doubt that his quirk would suit rescue missions along with chasing scenarios. Especially if he can get the parts and gear for making his wrist launcher devices.
"Don't lump me in with these extras teach! I'm going all the way to the top. These guys would be lucky to be sidekicks!"
Katsuki shouts proudly while pointing at the other students in the class. It takes a moment but the students all start to talk back to the blonde. He quickly makes them silent with a few small pops from his hands. The teacher waves his hand to calm the class and katsuki.
"Yes, you have a very strong quirk Bakugo but please not in class. You're application to U.A should go smoothly if you do your best."
The class is shocked to hear that Katsuki applied to the number one hero school in Japan. Izuku lets out a sigh at the thought of having to see the blonde for the next three years. The teacher picks up a paper from his desk and goes over it.
"Oh yeah, aren't you applying to U.A as well Midoriya?"
Izuku looks at the teacher with an expression that says 'really dude!' The class looks at Izuku for a moment and some of them laugh while other just raise an eyebrow. Due to holding back what he can really do, Izuku hasn't shown much of his abilities to the other students. Katsuki glares at the boy with is red eyes piercing through him. Izuku only nods a bit while the teacher smiles and goes back to his speech.
The rest of class went by with Izuku working on plans to create his wrist attachments. He takes a moment to think of a better name for them but shrugs and goes back to sketching a design. The final bell rings signaling the end of school making the students sigh on relief. Izuku starts to pack up his stuff when suddenly a sharp tingle makes him jump out of his chair. Katsuki slams his hand down on the desk with an explosion making the wood black. The greenette can see the anger and annoyance in the blonde's eyes.
"What the hell Deku!? What gives you the idea that you can apply to U.A!?"
Izuku raises an eye brow at Katsuki's question. He looks at his desk with an annoyed face thinking that the teacher will blame him instead. His body moves on it's own to jump to the side as the boy with elongated fingers tries to grab him. Katsuki waves his hand at the boy and the other one getting ready go attack.
"Leave him alone! Only I get to hurt him."
The blonde says with a grin on his face. His hands are out with his palms facing up. Izuku can smell the aroma of caramel once again making his nose wrinkle. They both look at each other with different expressions.
"I don't need your permission for anything Katsuki. You aren't in control of my life anymore."
Izuku says, digging out the courage that was buried within him for years. Katsuki only frowns more at hearing him talk back. The blonde is so used to Izuku following him around that the though of him getting better makes his skin crawl with hatred. Izuku picks up his bag and tries to leave only for Katsuki to get in his way and place his hand on his shoulder.
"Do you think you're better than me Deku!? What can you do to be a hero, huh?"
Izuku stops moving after hearing the question. He looks at the blonde with slight anger in his eyes. Katsuki has made his life a living hell for the past eight years and he tried to look the other way. No more will Izuku be a punching bag for his old friend or anyone else. Katsuki is surprised that the smaller boy is looking back at him rather than cowering away like he did in the past.
"I thought you were amazing! You were my best friend and I wanted the best for you when we were younger. Then you turned into a bully with how strong your quirk became. I'm not scared of you anymore. I will be a hero."
Izuku says angrily to the blonde. The two other boys stare at the blonde as if he is a dead man. Katsuki doesn't move for a moment, making them think he's going go explode. Izuku doesn't feel anything from his spider sense but gets ready for anything. To the shock of the other three boys Katsuki only turns around and walks away. .
"That's some big talk for a nerd who can only stick to walls. Kicking your ass would just be a waste of my time and energy. It's not like U.A would accept you with your lousy quirk anyway."
Katsuki says through gritted teeth. The other boys follow the blonde as he leaves the class. Izuku lets out a breath he was subconsciously holding and slouches a bit. His hands are balled into tight fists but he opens them after a moment of slow breathing. He looks at his hands like he did when he was four after pushing down Katsuki.
'I need to burn off some steam...'
Instead of exiting through the classroom door, he opens the window and crawls out. Once on the roof Izuku takes a running start and leaps off of the building into the trees of the forest. He lands on a branch and leaps again from branch to branch making sure to hold onto his backpack. He thinks about the way that he can use the wrist launchers to shoot a substance that will allow him to swing from tree to tree and eventually building to building. The thought of using his flexibility and strength to enhance his traveling made him more excited
While he is lost in thought, Izuku's body continues to leap from tree branch to tree branch not skipping a beat. He thinks about how to make a material that will fit into the wrist launchers he is designing. Not too much longer he lands on a tree branch that is at the end of the forest leading to the park. Breathing heavily Izuku jumps down from the tree in the usual crouching position. He pats off the dust that gathered onto his pants and walks in the direction of the apartment.
'Maybe if I can search the garbage dump at Takoba beach I can find parts for the wrist launchers. Note to self, think of a better name.'
As he walks home he takes out his notebook and writes down what he may need. Having a prototype of his support item will definitely make creating a final version possible. The material being shot out has to be made in different strength qualities on the second when traveling the way he plans to. Not only that but it'll have to fit into a small container that is used to load the wrist launchers. Izuku is glad that he studies chemistry as different ideas fill his head.
'The cable would have to stretch or hold based on travel and combat as well. Maybe even able to fire in small bursts as well. Hmmm.'
He makes it to the apartment building and discreetly crawls up to the window. After entering the apartment he goes to his room and changes into regular clothes. He wears a pair of jeans, a black shirt that says 'All M' with a green hoodie over it, and his red shoes. Quickly walking into the kitchen he opens the fridge and takes out a bar of his favorite chocolate and a bottle of chocolate milk. The boy's sweet tooth is craving the tastey treat.
Izuku goes back into his room with his snacks to work on the plans for his wrist launchers. He takes out his phone to check how far Takoba beach is from the apartment. Smiling to himself at seeing it's only a twenty minute train ride away he looks for a bag. He eats the chocolate while putting the bottle of chocolate milk into the side pocket of the bag. Going back to his desk he opens different drawers for tools he's collected over the years. After getting what he needs he slings the bag on and leaves through his room window.
He climbs to the roof of the building and makes sure the bag is secure. Taking a a running start he leaps from building to building heading to the train station. Once he gets close enough he lands in a alleyway to keep from being seen. The boy can understand that public display of quirk usage is illegal but he also feels so free when traveling like he does. He walks down the alley but suddenly hears a cry of pain. Without thinking Izuku runs into the direction of the cry as fast as he can.
Once he finds the source of the cry he sees a man on the ground surrounded by three other men. He isn't seen yet so he leaps high and sticks to the walls to get closer to the group. The man tries to get up but one of the other guys points his hand at him, making the man freeze.
"Alright old man give us your wallet and you won't get hurt."
The guy holding out his hand says with a smirk. He looks like the typical biker goons like the others standing beside him. The one on his right is rather large with pointed horns on his head. The other man is scary looking with scars covering his face. Izuku thinks of calling the cops but then a image of Katsuki flashes through his head. He remembers all the hurtful things that the blonde has said to him.
'I'll show you what a useless Deku can do.'
Izuku thinks to himself as he pulls his hood up and looks through his bag. He takes out a bandana he uses to clean his tools and thanks the gods it's a new clean one. He folds the cloth and ties it around the bottom part of his face. Before the man can do anything to the victim Izuku launches himself from the wall and lands on a dumpster in a crouching position. The thugs look at him in surprise for a moment. Izuku feels a tingle that tells him to get out of the way.
The boy leaps off of the dumpster as the man points his hand towards him. When he lands on the wall sticking to it he sees the dumpster smashed in like something crashed into it. Izuku widens his eyes as he didn't know if he'd survive a hit like that. He jumps off the wall and lands in front of the large man with horns. Izuku's body is shaking when he finally realizes the danger he put himself in. Without thinking he can feel his mouth forming words that he couldn't control.
"Wow, never thought I'd see somone fail at taking out the trash."
He says while looking at the men around him. They all take a moment to stare back in disbelief as he rubs the back of his head awkwardly. The guy points his hand towards Izuku again but he leaps out of the way causing the attack to send the larger man flying away. The boy can feel the tingling in his head telling him to get away from the men. The man with scars on his face cracks his neck as bone like spines come out of his arms and fists.
"You aren't very smart are you kid? Can't mind your own business."
The bone man says as the other guy points both hands at him. both men look at him in annoyance as he took out the muscle of the trio. Izuku gets into a stance that allows him to move on the fly if needed while both men get on both sides of him. The man they were trying to rob left and only added to the anger of the men. Izuku completely ignores the bone man and looks at the other guy making him growl.
"Hey there you go, I knew you had it in you!"
The man shoots another blast at him but he leaps out of the way once again. The blast cracks the wall of the building making Izuku more nervous. The bone man rushes him and throws a combo of punches at the boy. Izuku's spider sense is going off rapidly making the boy dodge and weeve as best as he can. Suddenly a tingle spikes through his head but he is too focused on the man trying to hit him. Izuku feels like a blast of high pressured wind slams into him as he crashes into the wall and lands on the ground.
"Ugh! Wait your turn."
Izuku says through a pained breath. The man lowers his hands and laughs at the downed boy. The bone man absorbs the bones from his arms and forms a bone spear. Izuku gets up and brushes the garbage off of his clothes. Thankfully his hood and bandana are still on covering his face. His body moves to the side as the bone spear flies past him and pierces the brick wall.
"Hey, do you have a bone to pick with me or something?"
Izuku says and cringes at the line. The bone man growls and makes another spear while the other man points his hand at him again. Izuku pulls out the spear from the wall and wields it against the men. The man shoots another blast at him so he rolls out of the way towards the two. He uses the spear to trip the man with the air quirk and then blocks the bone man's spear attack. Izuku swipes the man's legs and stands up to gain distance.
The boy is breathing heavily at what just happened. The man with the air quirk stands up first and shoots another blast at him. Izuku jumps to the side and picks up a garbage can lid then hops onto the wall when another blast almost hits him. He jumpe off the wall and throws the lid at the man's head knocking him down. Izuku lands with a tuck and roll in time to catch the spear that is thrown at him.
"What's the deal with these over sized tooth picks?"
Izuku's spider sense goes off as he is swatted to the side like a fly. He hits the brick wall causing it to crack and bend in leaving him stuck. The large man with horns is back and he looks pissed off. Izuku lets out a groan as he looks around, vision slightly blurry. He pulls himself out of the wall surprising the bone man and causeing the larger man to grin. Izuku falls to his knees in pain as the bone man grows more bone spikes on his arms.
"Ok, that one really hurt. I don't suppose I can call time out?"
He says through a few ragged breathes. The two walk closer to him as he catches his breath and thinks of a plan. When the large man gets close enough Izuku punches his knee causing him to kneel down in pain. Using his flexibility and thinking on the fly he sticks his hands to the ground and lifts his body so that the back of his heel slams against the large man's face in a half flip. The man covers his face in pain and backs up giving Izuku room to climb up the wall. The bone man aims his fist towards Izuku and shoots a few pointed bones at him.
Izuku is able to dodge the first spike, catch the second, but is grazed on the arm by the last one. He grunts in pain while clutching his injured arm and jumping off the wall to dodge a bone spear.
"That's really getting old."
Izuku says through gritted teeth. His arm isn't bleeding much but it still hurts like hell. The large man shouts in anger while picking up a dumpster and throwing it towards the boy. Izuku jumps over the dumpster while catching a spear that the bone man throws at him. In an act of desperation the boy uses all of his might to throw a punch at the larger man. A loud crack is heard as the man falls back with a heavy thud. The bone man stares in shock at seeing the smaller boy knock out the larger man.
Izuku stares at the man on the ground and then at his fist. The bone man sticks up his hands in surrender at seeing the power that Izuku has. To the horror of the boy the larger man's jaw is facing the wrong way. He looks up at the bone man and sees that he is now gone. Izuku takes out his phone to call an ambulance but the sound of sirens makes him jump. The police surround the alley but to the boy's confusion they pay him no mind.
One of the police officers almost walk into him but he manages to side step them. His breathing is heavy making it hard to focus on one thing. He looks at his hands only to see they aren't visible. Confused he pokes a passing officer for them to swat around as if a fly is near him. Taking it as a blessing he slowly crawls up the wall, his injuries making it difficult.
'What the hell is happening?'
And that is the end of chapter 5! It took me a moment to think of how to write the robbing part but I think it turned out well. I hope you all liked it too.
