The next few weeks of school were hectic and Chase was so busy with basketball and homework that he never had time to do anything else. "Chase you are never here anymore" Skye whine, "Sorry babe I have so much on my plate, homework is suffocating me and coach just doesn't let up" Chase said as he ran out the door to study with Abby. "He is off with that girl again" Skye said as she sat on the couch and cried. "Its okay Skye, Chase loves you I know he does" Ella said, "That is not the point Ella he hasn't hung out with me for 2 weeks. The only time I see him is at night in bed when we are both asleep, and in the morning before school" Skye said. "Well I hardly see Rocky either he is always at the library doing homework too." Ella said. "Look even Ace misses Chase look how sad he is" Skye said as the german shepard pup jumped onto her lap. "Maybe you can talk to him tell him how you feel" Ella said, "What is the point he will just say he wants to do well in school and that he has basketball" Skye whined. "Hang in there it won't always be like this" Ella assured her. "Maybe but I am going to take these pups out for a walk want to come?" Skye said, "It is going to be dark soon" Ella said, "Who cares we are big girls, plus we have our dogs we will be fine" Skye said. Even though Ella was hesitant she didn't want Skye to go alone so she grabbed her pups leash and Scraps and followed Skye out the door.
"Chase concentrate here we have a huge test tomorrow" Abby said, "I know I am sorry it's just my girl is pissed I never hang out with her anymore" Chase said. "Honestly so is my boyfriend but I tell him my education is important and he gets it. Define the term forensics" Abby said trying to snap chase back into study mode. "Forensics is scientific tests or techniques used in connection with the detection of crime." Chase said. "Good, now what are the 7 basic fingerprint patterns?" Abby asked. "Ugh I can't remember loops or something I don't know." Chase said. "radial loop, ulnar loop, double loop, central pocket loop, plain arch, tented arch, plain whorl, and accidental." Abby said. "Yeah I am never going to remember that." Chase said. " Okay there are 4 loops think of your arm you have 2 bones radial and ulnar that is 2 loops. One is double and the other is a central pocket. Then there are 2 arches one is plain and the other is tented, and there is 1 whorl it is plain as well and last accidental" Abby said. "I hate tests so much this is going to be stupid." Chase whine. "You can do this Chase I believe in you" Abby said as she touched his arm in a slightly over affectionate way. Abby leaned in wanting to kiss Chase but he backed away "Abby what are you doing?" Chase asked, "I am sorry I just thought, I am so sorry" Abby said embarrassed. "Look I don't know what kind of relationship you have with your boyfriend, but Skye is my soulmate I love her and only her. I will never be interested in you as more than just a study partner and lab partner. We can be friends but never more. I will not betray my girlfriend ever" Chase said sternly. "I am sorry it will never happen again" Abby said. "Good now I have to go thanks for helping me study" Chase said as he gathered his books.
Meanwhile Rocky had just arrived home and noticed the girls and the pups were missing, "I hope they are alright" Rocky said as he called Ella's phone. He heard it ringing inside the house which means she left it behind. He tried calling Skye's phone and it to rang inside the apartment. "Seriously you both left without your phones!" Rocky said out loud as Chase walked in the door. "Who did?" Chase asked, "Skye and Ella must of taken the pups for a walk and they left their phones" Rocky said. " Are you kidding me it is getting late, let's go Rocky" Chase said as he put his coat back on and locked the door. Chase and Rocky walked around the neighborhood looking for the pups and the girls. "Where the heck did they go?" Chase said starting to get nervous. "I don't know but it is getting dark, and this park is creeping me out" Rocky said as they walked through the park nearby their house. "ACE!" Chase yelled, "Chase shut up what are you doing?" Rocky said nervous that he would attract the wrong attention.
Meanwhile an hour earlier Skye and Ella were walking through the park and Ella started to feel like they were being followed. "Skye I think that man is following us" Ella said, "He is not Ella stop being paranoid we are almost home" Skye said. The man was in fact following them he was a known predator around the park. Ella was super nervous as she said "Skye can we run please, he is following us" Ella said as she kept looking back nervously. "Fine let's run" Skye said as they began jogging trying to create a distance between themselves and the man. "Why did neither of us grab a phone that was dumb" Skye said as they picked up their pace as the man also started to run. "The pups are slowing us down, we need to not go home we don't want him to know where we live" Ella said. "There is a cafe right there maybe we can go in there" Skye said pointing in the distance. "Okay run faster" Ella said. Skye picked up her pup and ran with Ace running beside her. Scrap and buttercup were also trying to keep up to the teens. They made it to the cafe and explained to the barista that they were being followed. She agreed to call the police and allowed them to wait inside with the pups.
Chase and Rocky made it back home and there was still no sign of Skye and Ella, Chase was beginning to get super worried. A few minutes later they saw police lights outside their house and Chase and Rocky ran outside to see the girls and the pups get out of the police car. "Thank you officer" Skye said as she ran into Chase's arms. They all walked inside and Rocky poured the pups dinner and they ate and fell asleep. "What the hell happened?" Chase asked, "I wanted to take the pups for a walk, we honestly didn't mean to go so far. We were being followed by some creepy man. I didn't want to come home because then he would know where we live. We ran to a cafe and the waitress called the police. The man obviously disappeared and since we never really saw him we couldn't give a description" Skye said. "What did I tell you about going out at night" Chase said. "To be fair it wasn't dark when we went and we never intended to go as far as we did." Ella said. "Still I am glad you are both okay" Chase said hugging his girlfriend. Rocky also cuddled Ella close as they were both shaken. "Skye I am telling you this because I love you and I don't keep secrets. I need you to promise not to freak out" Chase said. "I can't promise that but I will try" Skye said. "Okay, Abby tried to kiss me tonight. I stopped her and told her that I am not interested. She has promised it would never happen again. I do still have to work with her so please don't make it awkward" Chase said. Skye was pissed she knew that the girl was full of it and wanted Chase. "I always have to compete for you. It's like a girl is always going to come after you." Skye whined. "I don't care about any other girl Skye, I love you and I always will. I promise you have nothing to worry about with me okay. You can trust me" Chase told her. "I trust you Chase, it is them I don't trust" Skye said. "If you trust me then there will never be a problem I promise" Chase said as he kissed her forehead and tucked her in as they both fell asleep.
The next morning Chase woke up super nervous for his exam as he didn't feel he was ready. He tried to remember the 7 fingerprints and his brain was blanking on him. "Deep breath Chase, you can do this" Rocky assured him. "I wish I had your brain!" Chase said, "I know but yours is just as good, I promise you will be fine just remember to breathe through it" Rocky said. Chase calmed himself down as they all walked to the school. Abby was waiting for Chase and Skye glared at her, as she walked up to them. "Hey Chase are you ready?" Abby asked, "I think so, Abby this is Skye" Chase said introducing her. "Hey Skye" Abby said, "Hey if you ever try to kiss Chase again it will be the last thing you ever do!" Skye yelled at her. "Skye!" Chase said, "No it is okay Chase I deserved that, I am sorry it will never again" Abby assured her. Skye kissed Chase and went to her class as Abby walked in with Chase. "I am sorry Abby she is really not mean, she is just protective" Chase said. "It is okay Chase I get it I would be the same if you were my boyfriend to. I promise I won't try again" Abby said. "Do you even have a boyfriend?" Chase asked. "No" Abby said embarrassed, Chase rolled his eyes as they sat down and were handed test papers. "Your exam is on your table when I say flip it over and start you have 3 hours to complete the exam. When you are finished raise your hand I will come grab the test and you are free to leave. Any questions?" Mr. Ruzek asked. No one had questions and everyone was seated Mr. Ruzek said "You all may begin." Chase flipped over the paper and took a deep breathe as he began writing answers. He was surprising even himself as he remembered the answers he started to become more confident. Chase realized he was done and he checked it over just to make sure as he raised his hand. Mr. Ruzek grabbed the paper and Chase got up to leave noticing that most of the students had already left.
Chase walked out of the classroom and was met by Abby "How did you do?" she asked. "I think I did okay, gotta run though I have a game today" Chase said as he ran off towards the gym. Rocky, Ella and Skye all sat in the bleachers excited for Chase's first big game and then Abby walked in. "Ugh she better not sit with us" Skye said, "Don't be like that Skye, she apologized" Ella said, "Only because she was exposed for being a liar, and she is a cheating whore" Skye said. "SKYE!" both Rocky and Ella said together, "She is cheating on her boyfriend if she thinks she can have mine" Skye said defending herself, "I heard she didn't have a boyfriend" Rocky said, "Well that just make it worse!" Skye said. Abby sat with another group of girls and Skye was relieved. She was however close enough to hear the conversation she was having. "Did you get him yet Abby?" one of the girls said. "No his girlfriend complicates things. I don't think getting her out of the way will be a problem though" Abby said. Skye huffed and really wanted to kick the girl the back of the head but Rocky wouldn't let her. "Just ignore her Skye, she is just trying to get a reaction. Chase will never go for her" Rocky said. Skye knew he was right as they game was about to start. Chase was sitting on the bench as his friends said "What the hell they aren't even putting him in?" Skye said annoyed. "He is a freshman they probably play the older players first" Rocky explained. "He isn't going to like being benched" Skye said.
The game wasn't going well for the bulldogs as they were losing and coach Barnes said "Chase you think you can get us back in this?" "You bet coach" Chase said standing up and the ref called for subs. Chase walked onto the floor and the game continued. Within minutes Chase had the score tied up going into halftime. "Man Chase your 3 pointers are keeping us alive. Keep that up. Team Chase is our secret weapon get him the ball as much as you can" coach said. The second half went better than the first and Chase scored 32 points on his own making the bulldogs win. Everyone high fived Chase and they all went to the dressing room and Chase quickly changed as he would shower at home. He came out and was greeted by his friends Skye ran into his arms and he scooped her up and kissed her. "You were amazing babe!" Sky said, "Thanks" Chase said, "But you stink" Skye said as she wrinkled her nose. "I know lets' go home so I can shower" Chase said. The teens walked the 2 blocks back the their house and Chase jumped into the shower. They decided that this weekend they would head back to Adventure Bay to visit their families and friends.
