Rocky stared at his father he wasn't going to lie he was super nervous about the whole thing but he was also curious. Rocky indicated for Thomas to enter and they both sat in the living room while Chase hovered close by. "Does he have to be here Rocky?" Thomas asked, "Yes" Rocky said. "Alright, I just first off wanted to say I am sorry. I should have never used you the way that I did." Thomas was saying. Chase was making sounds in the background indicating to Rocky that this was a load of shit. "Do you mind shutting up, this is between Rocky and me. I would come over there and knock some sense into you" Thomas said. "I would like to see you try" Chase said, "Chase please! I want to hear this" Rocky said. "Like I was saying what I did was wrong, I was never a good father to you and to be honest You deserved better. I just came to say goodbye to you and I hope that one day you treat your kids better than the way I treated you." Thomas said. "You used water against me, knowing I was afraid of it, you left me there to die! and now you are just going to say goodbye and I hope you do better!" Rocky screamed at him. "I am not saying goodbye for the reason you think Rocky, I am dying I have cancer. I wanted to make peace with you before I died" Thomas said. Chase scoffed in the background, Rocky gave him a look and said "I am sorry you are dying but this doesn't change the way I feel, I mean I want to be able to say what you want to hear. I am not going to lie I am afraid of you I always have been. When I found out that you were out of prison I was scared you would come finish me off. I really am sorry you are sick but I don't know what you want from me here" Rocky said. "I am not sure either to be honest, I am sorry that I made you afraid that is on me. I guess I just wanted to say goodbye and see you one last time" Thomas said getting up to leave.
What Rocky did next surprised not only himself but Chase as he stood and hugged his father, and said "Goodbye." Thomas left hoping that at least his son knew he was sorry even if he didn't forgive him. "What the hell was that?" Chase asked, "I am not sure my body kinda just took over. Before I could stop myself I was already hugging him" Rocky confessed. "Jeez man you do know he probably isn't actually dying" Chase said. "What makes you say that?" Rocky said. "I don't know I just felt like it was all rehearsed." Chase said as Rachel walked in and said "Morning boys" "Morning mom Chase was just leaving" Rocky said. "Oh okay, did you father stop by?" Rachel asked. "Yeah you knew he was coming?" Rocky asked. "Yes, he asked me last night, he doesn't have much time left and I felt bad. I couldn't let him die without seeing you one last time. Plus I knew Chase as here and that you would be safe." Rachel said. "So he is actually dying?" Chase said. "Yes he only has a few days left the doctor's can't do anything more for him" Rachel said. "Huh sorry Rocky" Chase said, "It is okay thanks for staying here last night" Rocky said as they fist bumped and Chase drove home.
Chase had a shower and dressed he was super excited it was his first day of training at the police academy. "Good luck honey and listen to the instructor" Katie said kissing him, "Mom please I am 19 you have to stop doing that" Chase said getting Ace's leash ready. "I will never stop loving you therefore I get free kisses whenever I want them" Katie said. Chase rolled his eyes as he walked out the door towards the police department. "Welcome potential police officers, please sign in" a lady officer said. Chase signed in and noticed that he was the only one with a dog, and he wondered if he was allowed having him. "Chase Chapman, I was wondering when I would see you" Tavers said. "Hey detective, I brought Ace but I am not sure if I am allowed to have him" Chase said. "Yes of course but you won't be training with this group" Tavers said. "I won't why?" Chase asked confused, "Well Ruzek told me about you and he said you have a real talent, I see a lot of you in me Chase. I am going to train you myself, I have special permission as I am going to need a replacement for myself soon. Bruiser will help Ace and I will help you" Tavers said. "Really? Are you for real?" Chase asked with excitement. "Haha easy kid, yes I am for real and I actually have a case for us. I am going to see how you handle yourself out there. I will give you pointers if I need to but I feel like you can handle yourself" Tavers said handing Chase the case file.
Chase read it over completely before he said anything, "How long has she been missing?" he asked. "Almost 48 hours now, her friend reported her missing this morning." Tavers said. "Let's go talk to this friend" Chase said, "Okay let's go" Tavers said following Chase. Bruiser and Ace followed along. They arrived at the friends house and Tavers said "Hello I am detective Tavers this is my trainee, mind if we ask you a few questions about your friend?" "No, come in" the young girl said. Tavers indicated to Chase that he could ask questions, "When did you last speak to Kayla?" Chase asked, "She texted me 2 days ago" Megan said, "Did she indicate at all that she was in trouble?" Chase asked, "No but she was on a blind date" Mega said. "How did she meet the guy? Did he know any of her friends?" Chase asked, "No we never knew him he was on some sort of app Tinder I think is what she used" Megan said. "You wouldn't happen to know the name of the guy?" Chase asked. "Yes it was Danny" Megan said. Chase's eyes grew and he wondered if it happened to be the same Danny. Chase didn't really know where to go from here and he looked to Travers. "Megan do you mind if we take a look in Kayla's room" Tavers asked. "No go ahead, second door on the right" Megan said, Tavers and Chase walked into the room and Bruiser sniffed around, Ace followed Bruiser around trying to do what he was doing. They didn't find anything suspicious in her room. "Thank you Megan we will be in touch" Tavers said as they left.
"Spill it Chase when she mentioned Danny's name your eyes almost popped out of your head" Tavers said. "Yeah I knew a Danny in high school, he sort of ran me over and did a few questionable things" Chase said. "Let's pay him a visit" Tavers said, "Okay" Chase said following Tavers. They arrived at Danny's old house and his father answered, "Yeah?" he said. "Sorry to bother you but we are looking for your son Danny?" Tavers said, "Why what's he done?" his father asked. "Nothing as of yet we just want to ask him a few questions" Tavers said, "We?" Danny's father asked noticing Chase, "Chase you are a cop now?" Danny's dad asked. "Training to be one yes sir" Chase said, "Good for you, Danny should be at work, he runs the skateboard shop" Danny's dad said closing the door. "We have a skateboard shop?" Chase said as they walked towards it. Bruiser took off running and Tavers followed him along with Chase and Ace. "What is going on?" Chase asked, "Bruiser must have found something" Tavers said as they ended up in the alley. Tavers knew immediately what they were looking at and he called it in, "This is detective Tavers, our missing person just turned into a homicide. I am going to need forensics at this location" Tavers said as he sealed the alley off and Chase finally just clued in and he was disgusted. "Sorry Chase this teaching case just became real, mind if I take the lead?" Tavers said. "No, I am sort of not sure where to go from here" Chase admitted. A forensics team arrived and began examining the body. "Let me know what you find out, I will be back shortly" Tavers said to the forensic team as he walked into Danny's shop. "Hello Danny is it?" Tavers said, "Yes, what is going on I saw cop cars outside?" Danny asked noticing Chase. "I would like to ask you a few question about your date 2 days ago" Tavers said. "Okay did she say something, I swear I didn't know" Danny said. "Didn't know what?" Tavers asked, "that Megan was her roommate, I went out with Megan a week ago. Then I received a message from Kayla I thought it was Megan" Danny said. "I am lost here" Tavers said. "He went out with Megan first, then he was messaged by Kayla from Megan's phone and when he met with her it was Kayla and not Megan." Chase explained. "Exactly, is everything okay with Megan?" Danny asked, "She reported Kayla missing do you know anything about that?" Tavers said. "No I met with Kayla briefly I told her I was interested in Megan. Kayla was mad but she left I never did see her again." Danny said.
Chase was catching onto something and he pulled out the picture of Kayla and said "Danny is this Kayla?" "No that is Megan is she alright?" Danny asked. Chase looked at Tavers and knew that they needed to leave right away. "Sorry Danny, I will send someone to explain I am so sorry" Tavers said. They ran out the door and drove back to Kayla's and she was loading up her car, she noticed them and tried to get in but Bruiser was faster. "What were you going to do? Steal your friends identity? Did you think we wouldn't find the body?" Tavers asked. "No I thought that you would blame Danny, he should have been my date first. Megan didn't deserve him, I showed him to her and she went and snagged him first" Kayla confessed. "So you killed her for it?" Tavers said cuffing her. "She attacked me first I was just using self defense" Kayla said, "right and seeing has how the only person who can collaborate your story is dead. You are under arrest for murder in the first degree. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to an attorney, if you can't not find one we will have one appointed to you. Do you understand everything I just said to you?" Tavers asked. "Yes" Kayla said as Tavers put her in the back of the police car. She was taken into custody when they arrived at the station and Tavers said "Chase I admit I am impressed, you had that solved quickly. Kayla would have been gone had you not asked Danny to identify her. Congrats you just solved your first case as a police officer." Tavers said. "Yeah but I wish that poor girl wasn't dead" Chase said, "me too Chase, I am sorry I thought this was just a simple case. I do admit thought you solved it faster than even I did" Tavers said. "Danny's story seemed weird but what made me question it was how unphased Kayla was when she was explaining or answering questions. It almost seemed rushed and was quick to blame Danny" Chase said. "That right there is true detective blood, Ruzek was right about you. It is late Chase go home we will see you tomorrow, I hope for something not so grueling" Tavers said. Chase walked home with Ace feeling a little sad but he was glad that Megan would at least feel justice.
Chase walked in the door and Katie and Ryder were there and Katie didn't even say anything she just hugged him. "You okay?" Ryder asked, "Yeah, hell of a first day though" Chase said. "Yeah it is all over the news, a police officer said it was the fastest anyone has ever solved a murder" Ryder said. "I wish I never had to solve a murder" Chase said, "well unfortunately it is what you signed up for being a police officer is not going to be sunshine and unicorns" Ryder said. "Ryder!" Katie scolded him, "No dad is right mom, I meant I just didn't expect it on my first day, I mean I thought I would be handing out speeding tickets or something" Chase said. "You are training to be a detective though, I thought it was what you wanted" Ryder said. "It is but I just thought I would start off small and work my way up" Chase said. "Normally you do but Tavers is going to be retiring soon and he chose you to be his replacement. Chase you are learning from the best" Ryder said. "I know" Chase said as he went upstairs and lay on his bed, he was thinking about that poor girl and her family. Chase received a text:
Skye: baby are you alright? I just watched the news
Chase: No, I could use you tonight
Skye: I am on my way
Chase: Good
Skye arrived a few minutes later as her parents couldn't really stop her seeing has how her and Chase were living together for a whole year. "Hey baby are you alright?" Skye asked, "I am now that you are here" Chase said brining her in for a kiss and cuddle. Chase and Skye cuddled for hours just talking, "Did you ever hear about the NBA?" Skye asked, "Nope nothing yet. I am thinking that is a bust" Chase said. "Well at least you tried" Skye said, "Yeah I guess" Chase said. "Are you disappointed?" Skye asked, "a little maybe, but I am still following my dream so I can't let it bother me" Chase said. Skye kissed him and said "I received a job today" "Really?" Chase said sitting up a little to look at her face. "Yes I am going to be a pilot for a charter company here in Adventure Bay" Skye said. "That is awesome babe!" Chase said returning her kiss as they cuddled and fell asleep.
