The next morning Chase woke up he was nervous as he dressed for work, he was hoping nothing major happened today. It was going to be his first case and he really didn't feel like he was ready but he went down for breakfast. "Morning Chase" Ryder said, "Hey" Chase replied, "nervous are we, I hear today is your first run solo." Ryder said. "What if I screw up dad, I mean I could make things worse" Chase said. "You won't I believe in you, I know you are good at this stuff it was the first time your grades were good. Sorry but it is true, plus you have Ace and Tavers will back you up if you get stuck" Ryder said. Chase sighed he knew his dad was right but he still hoped for a slower day. Chase grabbed Ace and he was off to work, "Dad can I go to a friends?" Cassie asked, "Depends what friend?" Ryder asked, "you don't know her but she is new" Cassie said. "Okay what is her name?" Ryder asked, "Mack" Cassie said, "her name is Mack?" Ryder said. "yeah it is short for Mackenzie" Cassie said. "I don't have a problem with it but I will have to drop you off and meet with her parents" Ryder said. "Okay" Cassie said as she went upstairs to get ready to go and call Mack. "My dad says I can come but he wants to meet your parents" Cassie said, "Umm I don't have parents" Mack said, "You don't who takes care of you?" Cassie asked, "My sister" Mack said. "Uh oh this might not be good, but lets hope" Cassie said. "My sister is awesome" Mack said as they hung up and Cassie prayed her dad would let her stay.
Chase arrived at the police station and was greeted as usual by the desk clerk, she was new and Chase had a feeling she had a crush on him. "Hey Chase" Jess said, "Hey" Chase said trying to find Tavers. "Detective Tavers is not here yet" Jess said, "Oh okay, I'll just wait over by his desk" Chase said, "You can wait by mine if you want" Jess said. "I'm okay over here" Chase said as she prayed she didn't come over. Thankfully the phone rang and she was distracted then Tavers walked in and said "ready big guy?" "No" Chase said. "Oh come on where is that can do spirit!" Tavers said. "It is scared" Chase said, "you have this Chase trust me, I don't have a case as of yet but something will pop up" Tavers said as she grabbed a coffee and sat at his desk. Bruiser and Ace lay together on Bruisers bed waiting for a case. Ryder drove Cassie to her friends place and Cassie was nervous as they both walked up to the door. Mack opened it and said "Cassie come in" Cassie walked in and Ryder said "Hi are you parents here?" Mack looked nervous when her sister Jenny came to the door, "Hi you must be Cassie's dad, I am Jenny she is welcome to stay as long as she likes" Jenny said. "Sorry not to be rude but you seem a little young to have a daughter Mack's age" Ryder said, "Thank you people tell me that all the time, but Mack is actually my sister. Our parents died 3 years ago in a car accident and I am Mack's guardian" Jenny said. "Oh I am so sorry to hear that, how old are you?" Ryder asked. "Well not that it is your business but I am 20" Jenny said. Cassie gave her dad pleading eyes and even though he struggled with letting her stay he said "Alright I'll pick you up later" Ryder said. "Thanks daddy!" Cassie said as the two girls ran upstairs and Ryder walked away hoping his daughter was safe.
Cassie and Mack were having a good time until Jenny invited a bunch of her friends over and they were making Cassie uncomfortable. This one guy kept looking at her and she was creeped out, Cassie said "maybe I should go". "You don't have to my sisters friends are nice, they even give you candy" Mack said. "I don't want candy, I am going to go home. Thanks for having me" Cassie said as she went outside and called Chase. "Hey Squirt I am at work, what's up?" Chase said, "I am at a friends house and her sister has all these guys over and this one guy keeps looking at me. I want to go home" Cassie said. "Call dad, I am at work" Chase said. "I don't want to explain to dad how he was right. Mack's sister is not ready to be a parent and there are no rules. I feel like dad was right" Cassie said. "He usually is but I am at work" Chase said again hoping she would catch on. "Okay I will call..." Cassie started to say but she screamed and the line went dead. "Cassie? Cassie?" Chase said as the line went dead. "Tavers my sister might be in trouble" Chase said. "Let's go" Tavers said, "really?" Chase said, "yup not like we are doing anything and family comes first" Tavers said grabbing his badge and Bruiser and Ace followed.
Chase realized he had no idea where Cassie even was and he really didn't want to have to call his dad because he would know something was wrong. "Tavers can we trace her phone?" Chase said, "Sure hang on" Tavers said as she punched in his computer and Chase gave him her number and they waited. A few seconds later her location was on the screen and Tavers drove to that location. One of Jenny's friends saw the police car and said "Cops everyone run!" as the crowd vanished fairly quickly. Chase phone Cassie's phone on the sidewalk and he was very nervous he had no idea where his sister was. They walked up to the door and Chase knocked, as Mack opened it. "Hi" Mack said, "Hi I am looking for Cassie" Chase said, "She left" Mack said, "Did you actually see her leave?" Chase asked. "She walked out the door, I have no idea where she went after I was busy" Mack said. "Can I talk to an adult?" Chase asked, Jenny came to the door and said, "Yes what can I do for you?" "I am looking for my little sister" Chase said, "Aren't you a bit young to be a cop?" Jenny asked, "Listen I am looking for my sister, she was at your house when she called me, there was a scream and I found her phone in your driveway. She is missing and was last seen here, I suggest you answer my questions or we are going to have a problem" Chase said angry now. "Woah sorry, look I was with my friends, Mack said she left so I don't know where she is" Jenny said. "She mentioned one of you guy friends looking at her making her uncomfortable any ideas who that is?" Chase asked, "No all my guy friends are creeps, I am sorry I don't have any information." Jenny said, "Do you know everyone who was at your party? Anyone disappear quicker than the rest?" Chase asked. "I do know everyone but I wasn't paying attention, I am sorry your sister is missing but I have nothing to do with it." Jenny said closing the door.
Chase was pissed he knew something was off with this girl but he couldn't figure it out, "Ace find Cassie" Chase said hoping his dog would listen. Ace barked and started sniffing around Chase waited hoping he would pick up a scent or something. Ace found something and he sat just like he was told and Chase looked their was blood on the driveway. "Tavers!" Chase said as his boss came over and said "This is not good, Chase I know right now you are scared because it is your sister. I feel you are the right person to find her, but if you want me to take over this case I will" Tavers said. "No let me try" Chase said as he went back up to the door and knocked, "What?" Jenny said rather annoyed, "I am going to need the names every every guy at your house within the last hour. There is blood on your driveway that belongs to my sister, unless you want to go to jail for having a part in her kidnapping I suggest you get me those names" Chase said. "Fine give me a minute" Jenny said as she went to get her phone, "here are all their numbers and names it is the best I can do" Jenny said. "Thank you" Chase said as he took them over to Tavers and he started typing them into the database to trace them.
Meanwhile Cassie woke up her legs and hands were tied and she was in the trunk of a car, she was scared she had no phone. Her mouth was taped so she couldn't scream but she prayed knowing or at least hoping Chase was looking for her. She tried moving around in the trunk to find anything that could help her. "Chase I think we need to fill in your dad" Tavers said, "Why? He will just get mad" Chase said, "Why because he just pulled up" Tavers said. "Chase what is going on? Is Cassie alright?" Ryder asked, "Umm, well I am not sure. She called me told me to come get her. I told her I was at work and then she screamed and the line went dead. There were a bunch of people here and she was scared" Chase said. "I knew it! Where is she?" Ryder asked, "I am not sure, we are trying to find her now" Chase said, "I knew that Jenny was not responsible enough" Ryder said angerly. "It really isn't Jenny's fault, she had her friends over and wasn't really paying attention. Okay I see where you are going with this" Chase said as Tavers said. "I have 3 addresses and one cell phone that is moving, which means that they are driving, Where to first Chase?" Tavers asked, "I think we go for the car, I don't think it was that long ago and I have a hunch" Chase said. "Let's go" Ryder said. "Dad no offense but you are not coming. I get Cassie is the one we are looking for but I am working and you coming is just going to be weird. I promise I will bring Cassie home" Chase said. Ryder understood but he was nervous as it was his little girl missing. Tavers called in some back up as they were approaching the vehicle, the man driving noticed the cops and he tried everything to lose them.
"I think we were right to come after this car, this guy is trying to lose us" Chase said. Tavers had his sirens on and they were now on a chase to try and catch the car as he was trying to get away. There were several police cars following him now and he felt like he had no choice but to pull over he just hoped they didn't look in the trunk. All the other cars drove by and Tavers and Chase pulled behind the car, Chase got out of the vehicle and Ace was with him, "is there a problem officer?" the man asked. "Yes you didn't pull over, license and registration please." Chase said. "Aren't you a bit young?" the man asked handing Chase his license and registration. "That is irrelevant Mr. Thompson, please step out of the vehicle" Chase said. "Why?" Mr. Thompson asked, "My dog has a particular interest in your trunk, and I need you to open it" Chase said. "I have a dead deer in there he probably smells it" Mr. Thompson said, "Then you wouldn't mind opening it to let me look" Chase said. Mr. Thompson knew that his cover was blown so he had no choice he opened the trunk. Chase looked inside and there was his sister, Chase untied her and she hugged him. "Oh Chase!" she cried as he hugged her, Mr. Thompson tried to get away but Ace tackled him and Tavers arrested him. They called a tow truck to come and take the vehicle and another cop car took Mr. Thompson to jail. "I knew you would come find me" Cassie said. "Hey you really scared me, are you okay?" Chase asked, "I am okay I just want to go home" Cassie said, "I think we should get you checked out a the hospital" Chase said. "Can't we just have Marshall check me out please Chase I just want to go home" Cassie said. Tavers looked at Chase and he drove them home and Chase took Cassie over to Marshall's first. "Hey Marshall can you check Cassie?" Chase asked, "Check her?" Marshall asked confused, "yeah make sure she isn't hurt" Chase said. "Okay why?" Marshall asked checking her over, "She had a bit of a scare and I just want to make sure she is okay" Chase said. "She as a gash here that needs stiches but other than that she seems okay" Marshall said. "Can you do the stiches please" Cassie asked, "I can but I shouldn't a doctor should" Marshall said, "Please Marshall I just want to go home" Cassie said.
Marshall did the stiches even thought he felt like it could have been done better but Cassie thanked him and went home. Ryder was so thankful to see her, she hugged him and said "I am sorry daddy, I should have never went. I am so sorry" Cassie cried as her dad hugged her, "it is okay baby, you are safe" Ryder said hugging her tighter. "Hell of a first case" Tavers said, "Yeah" Chase said not sure what to say, "Chase I know that this was your sister, but you did a hell of a job. You were on point and you were able to gather all the information you needed. You did very well" Tavers said, "thanks, I wish it was not my sister" Chase said. "I know but you handled it very well. I am proud of you, since you are home I am going to let you off for the rest of the day go be with your sister" Tavers said as he got into his car and drove off.
Chase went inside and hugged his sister and she said "Thank you Chase", "Your welcome squirt but no more hanging out with this girl okay" Chase said. "I will still hang out with Mack but I won't be going to her house anymore. If she wants she can come here but I don't trust her sister or her friends" Cassie said as she went upstairs to her room. "She has a good point, but I won't be letting her go to that girls house either. I feel like Mack is unsafe there maybe I should have it looked into" Ryder said as he called a social worker. "Dad no offense but should you be meddling, I mean it really isn't our business" Chase said. "I am just making sure" Ryder said as he called his friend. Chase rolled his eyes and went upstairs to play video games and call Skye.
