After false charges of being the mastermind behind the incident, Nero became a black bull member. Asta finds a book next to the rubble of the court wall and picks up the book, seeing it has four people willing a weapon each. "The Four Cardinal Heroes" he read the title of the book. "Hm never heard of this book before must be new" he opens the book and starts reading it. Saying how a worldwide event is called "the waves" where a bunch of monsters start attacking people until the boss monster is defeated. To help with the waves, the four kingdoms summon four heroes, each with a different weapon, a sword, bow, spear, and shield. "Wait a minute, a shield is a weapon?" he asked out loud.
"Hey kid, what are you doing?" Yami, the black bull's captain asked. The other squad members turn at Asta, who is holding a book. "Oh just found this book on the ground" he answered "So what is it about? Bakasta" Noelle spoke up, arms crossed. Not fazed from that name called, starts telling about how their heroes, who are four kingdoms of monster's attack each with different weapons. "How can a shield be used as a weapon?" Nero asked. "No idea. Maybe if I go to the page where the shield hero is on, we can find out," he starts turning the pages to stop at a strange sight. The others see how he froze in place. "Hey kid, what's wrong?" his captain asked. "Um, how can I say this? Their um blank" the teen response "What do you mean by blank" Noelle questioned Asta. "I mean, their blank and the last few pages are completely blank" he shows them the book and empty pages. "Who will make an unfinished book?" Vanessa asks, the other members agree.
Then the book starts glowing. Everyone was shocked by this, and a magic circle appeared under Asta's feet. "What is this? Did someone cast a spell or something" "Kid try to get rid of it with your swords" he did what his captain said, grabbed the denom destroyer, and stabbed on the magic circle but it didn't stop. "I don't think it is working. Someone else got a better idea" "Wait the book is causing this. Try to cut it" Magna told him. He tried to move, but he couldn't. "I'm stuck. This spell as me trapped I can't move" he kept struggling with the anti sword, slowing the process down. "I think how to solve this problem I need to seal the book" Nero got close to the book and used her sealing magic on it, but it didn't stop the magic circle from working. "Guys were running out of ideas, and he is still trapped" Finral got nervous about Asta's situation. "Hey Zora, you use trap magic. Can you fix this" Luck asked the red head. "No I'm good at trapping people, not untraped them" "Maybe give him something to eat" Charmy spoke up. "How would that get him out?" pink-haired women ask the short black head girl.
After a few seconds later, Asta thought of something and then spoke up, "I got a plan, Nero." "After I get to the other side, try to use the book to reopen the portal". "You're sure about this kid," "Ya Bakasta, do you know how long you begone for?" "I have no clue, but I know you guys can do it" "Well hope you won't die there buddy" Magna wishes Asta luck. "Ya when you come back, I want to fight" Luck smiled. "Careful kiddo, you don't know what is on the other side" Vanessa winks at the teen. "Hey while you there bring some food back" the always hungry Charmy says. "Again with the food, can you take this seriously".
After some encourage-ish words, Asta decided to put out the destroyer, then the magic circle lit up around him, and then the male teen was gone. "Alright then, it looks like we got some work. Come on, let's go see the wizard King and tell him what's going on" Yami told his squad members. All members following their captain Nero still have the sealed book above her hand.
Meanwhile, in a dark room, a ritual circle is on the ground with people in robes hood up. "Sir, something is wrong with the ritual, '' one of the men in the robe told the leader. " Quickly get the king and the priest and tell them what is happening" the leader told his subordinate. Before they get the chance, the ball of magical energy explodes, opening a hole in the castle ceiling, letting a body fly without no one else seeing. The leader got up to see the damage and then looked down at the ground, seeing three male with weapons in hand knockout. " Where is the shield hero?" he asked out loud.
Back to Asta, he didn't know how he got up in the air and now started falling down. "Well this is weird. Why did I end up in the sky?" he starts to think how to land safely and then sees a shield on his arm. "I don't remember having this shield, but I can make this work" Then he began to raise his arm, letting the shield hit the ground, first crushing through three trees and crashing into a boulder. "Man, talking about a crash landing well except for the falling this is a good start" saying that he got up and dusted himself off. "Now what should I do now?" he sees a weird thing right at the corner of his eye site. It opened up, and now he sees his status, seeing how his strength stat is very low. "Wait a minute, why is my strength low and my speed also bad?" He wondered why this was happening, looked down to his shield thinking how maybe the cause was the problem. So he reached for the demon slayer sword, but he got zapped by lightning. "What was that for?" Then he sees a notification saying he wasn't allowed to use other weapons. "Is that so? Well, I don't care if I get rid of you without the swords, then I use the grimoire itself" then he shoved his shield into the black grimoire seeing a bunch of warnings but he ignored it all. When notifications stopped, he took it out seeing his shield with a different look, black rusty metal like his swords and blackened cracked gem that used to be green.
"Well I can work with this. It does match with my swords now" he starts checking his stats, seeing his strength and speed are different now. "Yep this is about right now. I can feel my strength is back now. Let's see if I use my swords now" he grabbed the demon slayer sword again, put it out of the grimoire, and swung it around. Happy with the results, he stuck it to the ground and checked on his shield. It reads how it's an anti-hero shield now and how to unlock some skills by feeding the shield materials and leveling up to use those skills. While Asta reading about the devil in the grimoire sees his space change a bit now, looking at all the locks skills, thinking how these can be useful to kill off his kins. "Can't believe this human found this useful tool, let's see how this plays kekekeke" The anti-devil's laughs went further and further away.
Back to the sixteen years old "Now let's find some monsters" he wandered around the forest he crash landed in using his ki sensing. After some time, he senses some small Ki signatures and checks some bouncing orange balls with white eyes and shark-like teeth. "Oh, I've never seen those before now. Let's see what I'm up against" Two handing his slayer sword, then strike popping them one go. He got some experience points for killing those things and taking some monster parts, dropping them into his shield's gem. Now he unlocks Orange small shield it gives plus two defenses. "Cool this shield can change, but it says it is orange, but it's still black. I guess the color of my shield doesn't change anymore" Asta starts looking for more materials while back at the castle.
"How the ritual went so wrong not only did part of my castle blow up but you got to summon three out of four heroes" King Aultcray yelled at robes men with the high priest next to him. "We're very sorry your highness the summoning ritual was going well until the very end it stopped and black lightning started showing when I just gave the order to tell what's happening it was too late" the leader spoke up on his knees. "I wonder if this is the consequence for summoning all four heroes. We have to look into this" the high priest told the king. "Anyway, how about the three heroes?" His Highness asked his royal knights. "Still in bed and still conscious, your majesty." The knight commander answers with respect. "Ok then try to summon the shield hero as soon as possible." he starts thinking about what will happen if his wife hears about this. "I think she is going to kill me for this"
After a few minutes of gathering materials, unlocking more shields from wood, stone, mushroom, leaf, and more shields. Now, taking a break, Asta starts each shield and what it does, until something gets his attention he looks down to his right leg seeing a balloon monster bite on him but it didn't hurt "I guess my defense is too high for you little one" he starts thinking if his grimoire can change ones it was in. The teen grabbed the balloon monster, shaking around in his hands. His grimoire opened, and the balloon was shoved into it, closing the grimoire. Inside the grimoire, the little balloon monster bounces around in a strange place before it knows what happened. It was grabbed out of nowhere. What it saw was a dark finger with red eyes looking down at it. "So what do I have here, a small weak creature in space? What was that human thinking? Oh well, I'll make good use of you kekekeke" The anti-devil starts affecting the balloon with his anti-magic power while laughing.
Out of the grimoire Asta kept reading until no more "Ah too much reading my head hurts" while rubbing his head he sense the Ki form his grimoire look down at it to sees the grimoire glowing and opening itself up lets out a black balloon monster with red eyes and small bat like wings. "Looks like you change little one" "Don't call me little human" Asta, shocked by the balloon, starts talking. "Hey you can talk now balloon thing" "I'm not the balloon stupid it's me the devil remember" "What a minute it's you so now you're in control of this balloon monster" the devil balloon starts bounce around "Yes human didn't think we meet together like this but that's not important you got us into the world and the shield will make great tool later in life" "Is that all you want just to tell this" the teen spoke back staring at the talking balloon. "No to be honest, I want to see outside can't willy do that trap in the grimoire, and this is the best to do it"
Asta can tell he wasn't lying from his Ki sensing. "So what do I call you now can't call you devil or people start freak out" "Well human, you call me L" "Ok L let's start this adventure" he holds his hand out L bounces to his head where Nero bird form sits at. "So human what our first stop" "First let's find a village or a capital here" he was going to walk but his stomach started to growling. "But food sounds good what you think" L thinks how this human is very dumb "Ya whatever you say, human". After words, the two sit around the campfire fish skiers cooking "Hey L, can you eat?" "Yes but it is not necessarily for the devil to like to eat" "So you still want to eat?" "Yes, humans put the cooked fish in the grimoire. My real body is the only way I can eat." After the fish were done cooking, he took two of them and gave one to grimoire. On the other side, L took the fish and started eating it remembering the last time he ate food like this before, when his mother, he shook his head to stop thinking about it, just another reason to kill his kins.
Back outside, Asta was almost done with fish, but then he sensed a Ki signature behind him, looking back to see a big brown bear. "Oh a bear, wonder how much experience I can get?" The bear roars and starts charging at him. Before the bear gets to bite the teen, it gets backhand with his shield. The bear fell on its back before it got back up, Asta took out the demon dweller sword and stabbed it in the neck, killing it without a chance to fight back. "Hey humans, it should be hard to kill those things" "I don't know this is the first time killing a bear" he got close to the bear's dead body, aiming his shield toward it. The shield glows a bit and absorbs the bear, unlocking a bear shield and getting notifications of the materials like bear's claws, fur, head, and meat. Seeing the bear's fur, he decided to take it out now that he had the fur in his hands. He tried to put it on like a robe, but it's hard to make it right "Man I wish there's a way to make a robe out of it" then he sees a notification for unlock a function called automatic crafting reading what it does he place back the fur back in storage and starts crafting into the black bear robe.
"What the fur was brown like the bear" Asta looks confused as to why the fur changed. It was fine when he took it out. "Maybe it's effective with my anti-magic power human" L gave him an explanation of the way it looks. He checked the description of the robe, seeing an anti-magic defense reads as magic resistance takes less damage from magic attacks. When he puts on the robe, most of his body is covered except for the lower legs. When he puts on the hood of the robe, it has small bear's ears. "You look dumb with those ears, human" "No they don't, anyway let's get going and find a place to sleep while the sun is still up" they start walking through the forest once out of the forest then looking far and wide. "Hey human, is that what we are looking for?" Asta turned his head in the direction of where L were talking about, seeing a big stone gate like the capital back home. "Let's go and check it out" they walked towards the gate, seeing two knights keeping guard. Once they went up close, they were stopped by the knights. " Halt there what's business you have here stranger" one of the knights asked the teen. "I am just a traveler in this new land and seeing all that it has to offer" he answered with confidence. "Alright, sir, you may go and have a great day" the other knight spoke up, and the knights moved away, letting the teen in.
Once in the capital of Melromarc, they start sightseeing the shops and people who walk around some of those have armor and weapons with them. "This is nothing like back home" the teen says with excitement "Hey focus, human, we got things to do like getting a place to sleep" before he talks back to L, he sees a blacksmith shop looking through the glass then gets in the shop now he sees the back of a bald man behind the counter. Walking passes all of the armors, swords, bows, spear, and shields on display. The man from earlier sees the teen looking around and decides to speak up, "Hay kid looking for something in my shop" The younger male turns around to face the blacksmith. "No just checking out, but I want to ask you where I can sleep for tonight" "Well then there's a in, I'm Elhart by away" "Hi there I'm Asta, guess I have to pay for the in" "I can help with you something worth selling" the teen starts checking his inventory then put out the materials it's look like he put out from his robe because he left his shield on his left hip. "Got all these bear's parts" he puts claws, head, and meat of the bear. "I'll give you four silver and five copper coins for the claws and the head for some bear gears, but I'm not taking the meat. You can go to a restaurant and sell it there ""Alright then thanks for money I'd head to a restaurant then" he took the coins and meat and left looking for a restaurant, selling the meat for ten silver coins now he has fourteen silver and five copper coins. "Hope this is enough to sleep at the in" "You doing well, human. If I was the one doing the talking, it would be more difficult" L said while hiding in his robe.
Finding an inn, he walked inside, seeing a man sitting at the desk get close to that man and asked how much for a night here. He said it was five copper per night. Asta paid the man and told what room he thanked him, then went upstairs and found his room number, opened the door, and closed it behind him. Opening his robe to let L out, "Well how do you think today went?" he asked. "From ending up in another world, I guess not bad human" "Ya form a shield that tries to make me weak to a shield that changes shapes and having this bear robe well it's time to hit the hay" "See you in the morning human" L went back to the grimoire. Asta gets ready and lays down on the bed, then starts checking his stats as he is now level five. He smiled, closed his eyes, and fell to sleep thinking how day one was great.
