Let me get one thing perfectly clear across the board. Yes, this is a Solo Leveling/ Fairy Tail fic. Yes, Natsu becomes a player like Sung Jin Woo. He is more cold against the enemies that threaten what he holds dear, but no matter any way you see it, he's still Natsu. Only he's significantly more intelligent than he once was with the powers he's gained in his pursuit of strength.
Essentially yes he's not human becoming a monarch, but that doesn't change who he is. I'm not making Sung 2.0, that's completely throwing all of what makes Natsu out the window. He is not naive as some claim him to be, spouting about friendship, hope and love. He knows that people are cruel, some humans deserve death than punishment. But if you think for one second I will make him not give a solitary fuck about anyone around him, including his family, his friends, his lover and look out for what benefits him, or has proved their use to him, I'm not doing it.
If I copy Sung's personality completely, including his responses, the way he acts. Why am I even doing a Fairy Tail crossover? I'm essentially replacing Natsu with Sung. I would be straight copying from the material given. I'm looking for inspiration, the scenes I've created, the system messages, I drew from the anime/ Manga. I know my material, so if you have doubts that this story is becoming bad, stop reading it I'm not forcing you too.
I like constructive feed back, and reasons to improve my writing. I don't appreciate my work being completely shit on all because I'm not making Natsu like Sung. If you keep reading, you will see that Natsu is not some naive idiot.
If... and I say IF for example Draconis tries to betray Natsu, he'll be put down like a dog without hesitation. Natsu is not an idiot, at least not here he's not. I said in the very beginning of this that Natsu would be a different person, not Sung Jin Woo in Natsu's body.
I really apologize for the small rant, but I'm putting my foot down. This is my story, my creation. You don't like it, stop reading it plain and simple. I'm not bending the way I write this for anyone, I will take your ideas gladly, and your feedback to improve the story. But I will not sit here and take my story getting trashed on because Natsu isn't who you want him to be.
Anyway, with that out of the way. Onto the story!
Natsu's eyes wandered along the carriage that housed many knight's whose gazes were filled with fear. They wouldn't even look him in the eye, nor say a thing, afraid to poke the big bad dragon in a cage. Erza sat next to him, her head rested on his shoulder. Her eyes were closed, her mouth parted open, breathing gently. Makarov sat on the other side, giving many of the knights a sharp glare for this act. They all knew it. Natsu was innocent without a shadow of a doubt, anyone who didn't believe that would be senile in believing so.
A hero that stood among the wreckage of a broken world, on the verge of losing to forces they weren't strong enough to fight against. Natsu stood proud, strong, defiant with a big grin on his face, reassuring his friends, his family that everything was going to be okay. Fire burned in his eyes as he laid siege to Zeref's armies, battled many strong opponents that made him question his strength, his own worth.
So why would someone like that be accused of something so heinous?
Simply put, Natsu knew the council was afraid. Old men quaking in their boots at the thought of a new world ending threat approaching. It made him sick to his stomach to think a highly governed society that oversaw every crime, every situation going on in this world with a side eye glance. But not all of them were like that, certainly not Yajima, an old friend of Makarov's who retired from that corrupt society and did what he loved best, cooking.
A sigh escaped his lips under his breath with a small growl to follow. They were all fools, idiots to follow anyone's thoughts of another. It's why Jellal was able to infiltrate the society without even being questioned, except for the fact he had a strangely similar 'twin' brother. Their security was lack luster at best, and that was putting it lightly. If a portal filled with those monsters arrived, there would be nothing left. Bodies, corpses would line the hall with a trail of putrid blood coating the walls, and floor with a sickly crimson.
Some innocent, others not. But these creatures cared not for that. They cared about one purpose and one purpose only: the need to kill, to feed upon the innocent.
For that, Natsu swore they would pay dearly. Mercy wouldn't even be an option for them. Death is what would befall all of them, and Natsu will be the reaper to claim the slaughter that would ensew there after. All of these monsters would be on the end of his blade, scorching in their own hell flamed inferno of their own making.
Natsu glanced forward at the screen that appeared in front of him. His stats had grown significantly over weeks, which would take him years to achieve this level of strength. If he was being honest, he could easily break apart these cuffs latched onto his arms with very little effort. The system saw them as insignificant, weak, lambs awaiting their own slaughter in time. They weren't threats to Natsu, but Natsu was the biggest threat to them.
It was clear they were afraid of his power, his strength that radiated off his body like an open flame. They were cowards, every single last one of them that his eyes landed upon with dark narrow eyes. A smile crossed his lips with a joyful grin underneath. It felt... empowering to put anyone in this state of fear, fearing for their lives, their, hopes, their dreams over one little stare from him that sent many shaking in their boots.
Any slight movement he made with a clink of his cuffs, their bodies tensed up. He could hear their heart beats, beating rapidly against their chests with a sickly smell of nervous sweat in the air. He glanced over towards his master who looked uneasy, clenching and un clenching his fists with an anxiety Natsu has seen before.
'Don't worry Gramps, Erza I'll set them straight. They'll know the name Natsu Dragneel, I'll make sure of it.'
"So... how much longer till we get to Era?" Natsu asked with a bored look, a tiny smirk on his lips. "I'm sure those old geezers are pretty desperate to see me. Of how the scary Natsu Dragneel brought monsters upon the world!" He exclaimed in a dramatic pose, lifting his cuffs in the air.
Many of the soldiers tensed up in their seats, until one of them turned towards Natsu with a sharp glare.
"We are about an hour away from Era. Now shut up and be quiet till then."
"I could..." he hummed in amusement, his smirk only growing wider. "But what would be the fun in that?"
Makrov couldn't help but snicker under his breath, a tiny smile on his lips.
Natsu always knew how to lighten the mood in his own "natsu way."
The carriage came to a stop, all eyes on Natsu as they demanded he stand up. Erza slowly lifted her head to wipe the tiredness out of her eyes with a small yawn. "We're here?"
"We are," Natsu confirmed, leaning down to kiss the top of her head before he stood up, feeling a couple spears aimed towards his back. He gave them a side eye glance with a small growl. "Is that really necessary? I promise I won't bite."
Erza, being as strict she was couldn't help but giggle slightly at her boyfriends antics. Oh how she missed this side of him. Natsu, Makarov and Erza, including the council's knight's behind Natsu, pointing their spears directly into his back. Natsu's eyes focused on the front, watching as they entered a large set of articulate doors that cranked open to reveal a large open space. Chairs lined the halls with a front office desk in the middle. A lady with short blond hair, noticed their presence, immediately standing up from her office chair with a frown.
"The council will see Natsu Dragneel immediately."
"Understood," One of the knight's nodded, guiding Natsu to another large set of doors that budged with a wave of a hand. A magic circle appeared, making the door dissapear on impact.
"Ooo, fancy," Natsu commented with a cocky grin. "Decide to upgrade finally?"
"Silence prisoner!" Natsu felt a jab in his back from the head of a spear. He growled under his breath, keeping his eyes focused on the front.
Slowly, all dispersed into a dark room. Erza and Makarov took their leave, walking over to a large set of chairs that seated many representatives of the council. Over the years more came in their ranks, trying their best to maintain order in this world as a neutral party. Natsu simply rolled his eyes, noticing all wizards saints were attended. His eyes met with Jura's nodding to him with a smile. The bald man smiled back.
Natsu was led to a small pedestal as the guards from behind him, taking their places at the door with narrowed eyes towards Natsu. He couldn't help but chuckle under his breath. 'That's the best you got to stop me from escaping? God you guys are pathetic as always.'
He turned his gaze towards the front, noticing the main members take their seats. None of them Natsu could recognize due to the destruction of Tartaros, many members being killed that day. They were all new, which was only going to make this much more fun.
Murmurs spread through out the room, many he could catch others he couldn't. Most didn't believe this farce that Natsu committed these acts, not after all he's done. He smiled at that, knowing he truly made an impact on this world. He glanced up to his hud, noticing a small timer next to his strength training quest. 'We better make this quick.'
With the slam of a staff, all whispers were silenced in an instant, directing their gaze towards the main members.
An older man whose beard was shorter than Org's stood from his place, glaring daggers at the dragon slayer. "Natsu Dragneel, you have been summoned here under pretences that you are behind these strange portals appearing all over Fiore. We spoke to many towns around the area, most informing us you arrived just in time to stop a portal before the monsters inside leaked out. A lot of sources have said you have changed, and it appears the rumors weren't wrong."
Erza knashed her teeth together, clenching her gauntlets into fists. These elders were truly fools in believing anything. Natsu was a scape goat, nothing more, nothing less. But by the look on Natsu's face said this trial wasn't going to rule in their favor.
"And did those "sources" tell you how I saved them from being killed. A little girl was about to be eaten by a pack of werewolves? Her parents thanked me from the bottom of their hearts for saving their daughter. They even offered me jewels, which I declined," Natsu spoke in a low tone, glaring daggers at all of the members, maintaining the anger underneath that was boiling with each accusation.
"They... they did not. However, your team had recently taken a job for a bandit problem. We spoke to the mayor and his family. He had lied under the request, saying a dark guild forced him to make the request under his daughter and wife's life. Blood Dagger, a prior guild you encountered in Crystal Falls. The wife spoke of how you killed all of their men, including the leader in cold blood, without a care. Do you deny that?"
Natsu snarled under his breath, tightening his grip on his cuffs, lowering his head that shadowed his face with his hair. "I do not deny what I did. But... my friends were in danger, daggers pressed at their throats. I didn't have a choice but to act." He raised his head with a firey glint, glaring at the members. "So yes, I murdered their members, including the leader himself."
Makarov's eyes shot wide open at this information, turning towards Erza who lowered her gaze in shame. "I-is this true?"
"Yes master... it's what we were going to report to you before the whole other matter happened."
A grim look crossed the old man's features with a sigh. "I see... don't feel shame for what you had to do, what Natsu had to do."
Erza could only nod, focusing her eyes on her lover with worried eyes.
The old man nodded to his response. "So now you start telling the truth? Why don't you admit to your other crime then?" He suggested with a small glare. "Lives are being taken as we speak, so stop playing games."
"And what are you doing to protect those lives?"
"Excuse me?!"
Natsu practically snarled towards the members, tightening his grip on his cuffs. "While we are playing judge and jury in this room, innocent people are being killed! These portals are appearing all over Fiore. What are you doing to resolve this issue? Have soldiers been sent out to deal with the problem? Have official guilds been contacted to help? What have you done besides SIT ON YOUR ASSES AND DO NOTHING!" His voice practically boomed, stunning all of the spectators in the room.
"I'm out there risking my life to save these people! People you should be protecting, but you're not. You'd rather blame someone else for your incompetence!"
"That is enough Dragneel!" Another member spoke up, a woman no older than fourty. "There is too much evidence to suggest that you weren't behind these atrocities!"
"Bullshit..."
The woman's eye twitched at his behavior, looming over her seat with a cold glare. "What did you say?"
"I said bullshit!" Natsu shouted to the top of his lungs. "You just want a damn scape goat, just like you did to Erza many years ago! Blame someone else for this other than yourselves. All of you are straight out pathetic in every sense of the word. Corrupt, broken, a system that should've died when Tartaros blew this place sky high a year ago! Queen Hisuei has aided all of the soldiers she can to fight against this force while all of you have done nothing!"
Erza turned towards Makarov with worried eyes, biting her bottom lip. "He's going to do something stupid isn't he?"
"Indeed, I can feel it," Makarov narrowed his eyes towards Natsu who looked to be on the point of exploding. "But what is his plan?"
"I'd like to know the same," Erza nodded in agreement, clenching the bottom of her skirt, watching as the members grew furious from Natsu's words.
Another member stood from their place, slamming their hands on their desk with a sharp glare. "I think we have heard enough of this. He's obviously guilty of his crimes. Let's end this trial now."
All other members nodded in agreement, before the older man turned towards Natsu, slamming his staff into the ground. "Since all you want to do is run your mouth, we will make this trial in haste. Natsu Dragneel, you are hereby sentenced to life in maximum security under the crimes of murder, and genocide of Fiores people."
"Now hold on a second!" Jura this time stood up from his place among the wizard saints with a deep frown. "How are you about to accuse Natsu of a crime you have barely any evidence against him. Do you not all recall his battle against forces that could've ended this world as we knew it! Zeref and Acnologia both could've destroyed this world into nothing if it wasn't for him. Why would he be behind these portals? He's a Fire Dragon Slayer, not capable of such magic!"
"We have much evidence to back the claims against him."
"YOU DON'T HAVE SHIT!" Natsu snapped, interrupting both parties. With a proper pull, his cuffs snapped in half, falling to the ground as everyone's eyes widened in shock.
"H-how did he get his sealing cuffs off?!"
"He shouldn't have any magic!"
"Seize him NOW!"
Multiple guards surrounded Natsu who, turned sharply, letting out a wave of crimson flames from his palms that placed a wall between him and some of the guards. Others attempted to capture, which resulted in a shift of his foot, landing a sharp right hook on one guard and boot to the other as they sprawled out across the floor. Erza's eyes shot wide open, standing up from her place.
"Natsu stop!"
But Natsu didn't, he moved faster than most could see with wide eyes, landing a flaming elbow strike on another guard. He turned towards all the members with crimson slits upon his eyes. He lifted his arms in the air, surrounding the area in a blazing crimson inferno, before turning towards the members who looked to be scared out of their minds.
"If you truly wanted to accuse me of such crimes, you'd have more evidence to back the claim. I am much stronger than I was years ago! You can do nothing against me," Natsu spoke in an icy cold tone, his flames only growing bigger and brighter as the temperature sky rocketed, many members sweating under the pressure. "Honestly... if I wanted to. I could kill everyone of you in this room as we speak... But that's not who I am," he lowered his hands, the flames following alongside him. "Now if you are all done playing the accusation game, I'm going to save some damn lives unlike you pathetic old fools."
The members were stunned into silence, feeling like for a moment they were staring into the open jaws of a dragon, one fainting under the severe heat. Natsu rolled his eyes, flicking away the flames from his palms. "If you want to help, then help the people. If not then stay the hell out of my way, and the legal guilds can clean up your messes. If you even consider on coming after me, you won't like the consequences to come with it..."
"A-are you threatening us?!"
Natsu turned towards the members with a cold glare, flames erupting from his body as he silently pointed towards them with a loud snarl. "Its exactly what I'm doing... come near me or Fairy Tail again, and you will regret it. That I promise to you," with that Natsu left the room, removing the flames that blocked the other guards who completely stepped aside to let him out. Erza and Makarov quickly followed after him.
Jura was stunned to say the least. The cold look in his eyes, the lack of emotion or feeling. There was a darkness inside him, something prying apart the inside workings of his mind. He could only hope that the slayer wouldn't succumb to such a fate. He glanced over towards the others who were utterly stunned, frozen in their seats.
Natsu made his valid points on the matter however. What did the council do to help in this whole disaster? His own guild had been working day in and day out to prevent these monsters from hurting innocent people. But it did scare the saint at the future to come, the destruction to follow. The only hope he had in his heart was one thing.
That Natsu would prevail against the darkness once again when the world needs him the most.
A bit shorter of a chapter, but still a good one. Natsu has made his threat to the council, scaring all of them to their core. His power rivals that of Wizard saints, or even Guildharts. If he truly wanted to, all the members in that room could've been dead in an instant. The flames he now possessed were much stronger than a Dragon's flames.
Next time, after his threat to the council. Natsu continues in his own goal of seeking greater strength, while Draconis begins to find his place in this world.
As always I hope you enjoyed this chapter, and I'll see you all in the next one. Later :)
