Timeline: During 1.06: Nevermore

As reflected in the chapter name, this oneshot is not in continuity with the series or the other non-AU oneshots.

"Man, Raven's mind is a weird place," said Beast Boy.

"Oh, 'cause yours would make so much sense," Cyborg dryly replied.

"I bet Beast Boy's mind is super funny!" exclaimed the joyful pink-clad Raven.

Beast Boy smiled. "See, she gets it!"

Cyborg frowned. "I doubt Raven wants you to know how she feels deep down."

"No, I don't."

The boys turned around and spotted the familiar Raven with a dark blue cloak. She appeared rather irate.

"That mirror is a powerful meditation tool, not a toy!"

Cyborg quickly pointed at Beast Boy. "It was all his idea!"

"Dude, unfair!" Beast Boy complained. "I wouldn't have gone in if you didn't bust Raven's door down with your big metal fists!"

"No, you definitely would've. I just accidentally made it easier for you."

"I don't care whose fault it is!" Raven yelled. "You shouldn't have done it to begin with! Now you two have to get out of here before he—"

"Before I what?" asked an impossibly deep, booming voice.

Suddenly a plethora of red arcane symbols appeared all over Raven's body.

"Uh," Beast Boy muttered, "is that normal for you or…?"

Cyborg tugged on Beast Boy's arm, drawing his attention to what was happening behind them. A gargantuan red demon with four eyes materialized out of a red tornado: Trigon the Terrible, Raven's father.

Beast Boy's immediate reaction is a childlike "meep!"

"This is bad, this is bad, this is bad!" the gray Emoticlone yelled.

"I don't know what you're panicking about," said the green one. "We've finally got a chance to kick his ass!"

"You should really get a hold of those emotions, daughter."

Beast Boy's eyes seemed to bulge out of his head. "Big Red is Raven's dad?"

Raven glared at the demon. "Unfortunately."

"And that statue and all those creatures that attacked us earlier… that was you!" Cyborg realized.

"Consider it a test of your strength," Trigon remarked. "Just as I predicted, Raven, your allies are weak, foolish, easily manipulated. I will face no challenge when I arrive on Earth."

"Hey," Beast Boy protested. "I'm not as silly as I look."

"As if someone as insignificant as you could outmatch the source of all darkness."

Beast Boy huffed. "Well you're not very nice."

"Clearly a genius, this one."

With that, Trigon released beams of dark energy from his eyes at the heroes. Raven quickly put up a shield to block the attack.

"Just leave!" she yelled, turning to the boys. "This is my problem, I'll deal with it!"

"Not gonna happen," Cyborg insisted.

"No, you don't understand!" Raven struggled to keep the shield up as Trigon shot fireballs at it. "You're the only ones in danger! He won't kill me, not while there's still time left."

"It kinda looked like he was trying to!" Beast Boy pointed out. "And time left until what?"

"Raven is nothing more than my gem, my portal into your world!" Trigon launched another fireball at the shield, breaking it. He immediately smacked the trio, sending them flying across the rocky landscape to where the Emoticlones were.

"Raven's way cooler you could ever understaaaaaaaaaaaaand!" Beast Boy yelled as he soared.

Raven but wouldn't admit it hearing Beast Boy defend her made a feeling of warmth build up inside her. Or maybe outside her is more accurate since the violet Emoticlone gave him the most heartstruck look (not that he noticed). Regardless, Raven had a new resolve.

"Alright, I have a new plan," she said. "Can you two keep him distracted for a minute?"

"Of course!" said Beast Boy. "I'm the king of distractions!"

Cyborg nodded. "We got your back."

The boys ran off toward Trigon. Cyborg fired some arm cannon blasts at the demon while Beast Boy transformed into a gorilla and chucked a massive boulder at him.

"Insolent wretches!"

Cyborg chuckled. "Heard that one before."

Meanwhile, Raven looked toward her emotions. "Ravens, assemble!" Her eyes glowed and they all raised into the air. The Emoticlones spun around before seeming to absorb into Raven in a bright flash.

White Raven triumphantly emerged, free of all the red symbols. She quickly teleported behind her father, tying him up in black magic coils. "I am more than a gem!" she proclaimed with a noticeably deeper voice.

Trigon snarled. "You cannot outrun the prophecy, daughter! You will be my portal to destroy the Earth and the universe beyond! It is your destiny!"

But Raven stood her ground. "That doesn't mean you're welcome within my mind! Azarath Metrion Zinthos!"

She held out her hand and unleashed a powerful burst of magic which engulfed Trigon. The onslaught lasted for nearly a minute before Raven collapsed from exhaustion, back to normal. Trigon was still standing, but weakened. He sneered and dissipated into red smoke; he was gone for now.

Beast Boy helped Raven back to her feet while Cyborg cheered.

"This calls for a booyah!"

"You can booyah all you want once we're out of my head."

A minute later, the trio were back in the safety of Raven's room in Titans Tower.

"When you said you were half-demon, I didn't realize that meant you're literally the Antichrist," said Beast Boy.

Raven whirled around in an instant. "Well excuse me for being sensitive about that."

Well now Beast Boy felt like a huge asshole. "I-I… sorry. I shouldn't have said that. Do you... want a hug?"

Surprisingly, Raven accepted. She wrapped her arms around Beast Boy and he quickly returned the gesture, with Cyborg then engulfing them both in a big hug.

"Thank you… friends." Raven sighed. "Don't be fooled into thinking we can easily defeat my father. That was just the tiny fraction of his power that he can exert within me. At full strength he's invincible."

"We've defied odds before," said Cyborg. "We'll do it again."

But then the hug was interrupted by a commotion going on outside the room.

"Please. Let us simply—"

"Raven asked us not to disturb her!"

It was Starfire and Robin, and Robin seemed to be struggling.

"She could be weeping and—"

"I don't want to bother her!"

"But if we merely—"

That's when the door opened. Starfire jerked her hand back, inadvertently knocking Robin to the ground, though he quickly got back up.

"Raven!" she exclaimed. "Robin and I came to ask if you are alright because we are most worried for you."

"Uhhhhh… sure," Robin uncomfortably noted. "What she said."

"I'm feeling just fine now." Raven smiled. "And you know what, I'm in the mood for breakfast now."

"Sounds great! Breakfast for dinner, coming up" Suddenly Beast Boy paused. The metaphorical gears in his brain worked backwards to what the Emoticlone said before Trigon showed his face. "Wait a minute… you think I'm funny! I almost forgot!"

Raven awkwardly groaned. "Please forget it for real this time."

Yeah, this is an idea I've had for a while. I'll leave it up to you to theorize how season 4 could go differently if the Titans knew about the prophecy this early on.
