The Silver-Eyed Warriors, a group of Huntsmen-adjacent warriors who possessed unique abilities through their silver eyes. Ozpin, before he became Ozpin, had used these warriors to carry out his crusade against Salem to varying success. They are a tribe of people from an unknown region of Remnant, though much of their history has been lost to time.
Summer Rose is one such Silver-Eyed Warrior, so was her child Ruby, though it'd be a disservice to the others to call her the only one. Maria Calavera, the Grimm Reaper, was another one, a more popular and well-known to the public warrior. Many decided to live quiet lives though, intent on living out the rest of their days devoid of combat, never using their silver eyes ever.
These warriors split into small communities as their numbers began to dwindle, both from circumstances and from Ozpin's crusade, as many died out in combat while others were struck with unfortunate diseases. Summer Rose's ancestors were one of these Silver-Eyed Warriors, passing down the Rose family name to their children, and soon their children's children, and so on. While many descendants changed their last names to either that of their husband's or wife's, only four direct descendants hold the Rose family name, two of which being Summer and Ruby respectively.
It was late at night in the Rose-Xiao Long household, amidst a rare snowstorm in Patch; Summer was cleaning up before returning to bed before she was startled from a knock on the door. Summer narrowed her eyes, grabbing her Sundered Rose as she answered the door, the weapon held out of sight. Her eyes softened as she relaxed her grip on the weapon, "Sharon?"
Sharon Rose, no relation to Summer Rose, more like a distant family member than a direct sibling, stood outside the doorframe with a slight smile on her face, "Summer, dearie, it's been too long!" She was a woman, roughly thirty in age with black hair, though her true hair colour was red, as it slowly bled out from atop her head from the roots, her face had a few wrinkles at the side of her eyes.
"What're you doing here this late?" Summer turned around to check the clock; it's well past midnight, "What are you doing here… at all?" She asked slowly, narrowing her eyes at Sharon.
Sharon chuckled, "You're too paranoid, dearie," she waved a dismissive hand as she practically welcomed herself into the home, Summer hung up her Sundered Rose as she followed Sharon, watching as she sat down on a chair facing the dining room table, "I'm here to talk about many things."
"Where's Burgun? I thought he always followed you," Burgun Rose was Sharon's twin; he usually hung around Sharon, the two never entered Beacon with Summer, despite her insistence. They disappeared during her school years; this was the first time in decades they saw each other again.
"Burgun's asleep, hun, he never was good at staying up late," Sharon chuckled as Summer seated herself in front of her, "You're still working for that… Oz-pin, dear?" Sharon scowled, "Or whatever name he has now? I don't quite remember…"
"Yes."
"Ooh, playing hard to get are we?" Summer furrowed her brows, Sharon smirked, "It's okay, I can do that too," she stage whispered to Summer before leaning back on her seat with a wide smile, "Though I wished that you'd do anything else other than work for that… fool."
Summer narrowed her eyes at Sharon's clear disdain for Ozpin, "Then what do you want me to do then? Assuming that I'd even listen to you."
"Run," Sharon said completely straight, her face neutral as she stared directly into Summer's eyes, "Run as far away as you can, keep running and then hide, that's what I did," she smiled, "Salem wouldn't be able to find you, or any of us, Ozpin can't too. You'd be safe, and so would your family."
"That- You can't be seriously saying…" Summer scowled, crossing her arms as she glared at Sharon, "Ozpin needs us more than ever; you can't seriously be suggesting that we just… hide from Salem and do nothing!"
"That is exactly what I'm saying dearie," Sharon Rose smirked, leaning her head on her palms as she placed her elbows on the table, checking her fingernails absentmindedly as if nothing of note is happening, "Ozpin is a fool, thinking that he can kill Salem," she chuckled darkly, "I'd rather not run head first into an unwinnable situation," Sharon pointed at Summer, "This is suicide and you know it."
"But we have to try." Summer said resolutely, determination in her eyes.
"Try what?" Sharon sneered, "Killing ourselves? Because Ozpin's been doing a good job at that so far," she clicked her tongue, "Ozpin picks and chooses whatever children in his little Academy to go fight his fights for him, so many years, hell, centuries have passed and what does he have to show for it?" Sharon waved her hands in emphasis, "Absolutely nothing, even with all the relics and the maidens and whatever magic he has, nothing, he's done nothing."
"But-" "Excuses, excuses," Sharon raised a hand, interrupting Summer before she could make her case, "You'd think that a man of his calibre would've done something to at least… deal with Salem already," she shook her head, "That man… always focused on trying to kill Salem rather than permanently contain her, tsk tsk."
"Permanently contain her?" Summer raised an eyebrow, "What are you talking about?"
"Exactly what I just said dearie," Sharon smirked, "I won't divulge into details of course, but Ozpin's been exceptionally poor with his use of the relics and the maidens right now," she shook her head, sighing with a smile on her face, almost mocking the man, "Everything with him has been just so… stagnant, so stale."
"If Ozpin isn't willing to do what it takes to deal with Salem for good?" Sharon leaned forwards before standing up, "I'll be more than willing to take matters into my own hands."
"What do you intend to do?" Summer asked warily, Sharon's always acted so… happy about everything, although her mood switches were a lot more violent.
"Oh, if I tell you then I'd be showing off too much!" Sharon chuckled, "I want you to see what I do for yourself, if you haven't died by then that is," she winked at Summer, "Whatever I do is up for me to do, the real question is, what would you do if you knew hmm?"
"If it's something that endangers my family, or the world," Summer glanced at her weapon, hung up on the wall close to her, she could use her Semblance to grab it if Sharon tries to do anything, "I'd stop you no matter what."
"Really? You think you can take on me and Burgun?" Sharon laughed, "You're a lot more confident than I thought, Summer! A lot more!" she smiled, "I remember when you were once a shy, socially anxious little kid stumbling through the academy," she sighed, "Oh how time have passed."
Summer smiled sadly, "Yes… I know I can't stop you and Burgun alone, but I won't be alone when it comes to that."
"You mean Xiao Long and the Branwens?" Sharon scoffed, "Barely a footnote in my head dear," Summer felt a tinge of anger go through her, "I mean, the Xiao Long is whipped to hell and back by you and the Branwens?" Sharon laughed, "One's an alcoholic and the other decided that living in the woods is better than the city," she then smiled sadly, melancholy marring her face as Sharon looked away, "You like your little dysfunctional family huh?"
"Yes."
"Hmm," Summer watched as the front that Sharon puts on comes back in real time, "Anyways, if you really think that then I welcome you to try," Sharon smirked, standing up as she looked down on Summer, "Keep working for Ozpin if that's what you want to do. But if you really want to be a good parent to your children and not go off and die needlessly for nothing then think about what I said," Sharon grinned, "Oh, and you and I know that you stand no chance against Burgun, let alone me."
Summer's fingers twitched towards her weapon as she watched Sharon walk out of her house, waving goodbye behind her, "See you later dearie," Sharon turned back around and winked, "Maybe in the future I'd see little Ruby do the same reckless thing her dear old mama did!" Summer's eyes widened as Sharon shuts the door on her way out.
How did she know about Ruby?
Qrow drank the weird extremely bitter liquid that Taurus handed to him, told him to 'down it all in one shot' or else it'd 'violently come back when you try to take a second sip'; apparently it was some kind of medical drink? He could get behind the idea of liquid health but the drink itself tasted like his tongue was submerged in anaesthetic before guzzling down several bottles of battery acid. Qrow had asked Taurus about where the boy got such a thing.
"Courrier," Taurus shrugged, Courrier huh? Qrow wasn't surprised, "He called it 'Bitter Drink', real creative, apparently it's a Vacuan delicacy," Taurus smirked, "And a real acquired taste too."
Yeah, Qrow could tell. He handed the empty bottle back to Taurus, which he then handed to a random White Fang goon where they'd pocket it. The group sat in the truck awkwardly as it slowly drove through the Mistrali forests towards the city. Suddenly, the truck grounded to a halt, jerking violently as the handbrake, presumably, was engaged.
"Why are we stopped?" Taurus asked the turret gunner.
"There's a… weird thing in the middle of the road," the turret gunner replied, "It just dropped down suddenly, nearly totalled the engine too if we hadn't braked."
"Tch," Taurus clicked his tongue, "It's just one thing after another…" he mumbled before turning to team RNJRY, "Alright, you five can either stay in here or come out and help me deal with this, your call."
Qrow snorted, fully knowing what they'd do, "We accept!" Ruby enthusiastically raised her hand before running out of the truck, quickly followed by the rest of the team; Qrow clutched his stomach as he climbed out too. Turns out that 'Bitter Drink' helped immensely, he already feels right as rain! Except for some lingering pains in his side, but he's sure that'll subside eventually.
Qrow stepped out to see a double bladed Scythe stabbed onto the ground, it was red and black, with a gold accent… his eyes widened. A double bladed Scythe with one blade on each side, almost like a double-bitted axe but with significantly more reach… albeit a lot more impractical to use… The only person he knew, or heard of, used this kind of weapon was…
"Hello Branwen," Qrow narrowed his eyes at the woman walking up to the Scythe, easily plucking it out of the ground as she laid it on her shoulder. The woman looked middle-aged, probably in her late forties. She had wrinkles lining her eyes as they scrunched up while she smiled widely. Her hair was like Ruby's, but instead of red tips they had red roots, this person… Summer told him about her… "And little Ruby as well," she cooed, "Oh she's grown so big!"
Yang stepped in front of Ruby protectively, "Hey! Who are you?" she asked, brandishing her gauntlets, Qrow wracked his brain to try and remember what Summer told him about… "Listen old lady, we've already fought off one kidnapper trying to steal away my sister, what's another huh?"
"Don't worry, I'm just here to see some things for myself!" the woman said cheerily, "Although I should be the one asking you that! Who are YOU huh?" she laughed, "But I digress, my name is Sharon Rose," both Ruby and Yang's eyes widened at this, "No relation to your mother of course, but I did know her for some time," the woman, Sharon, rubbed her chin dramatically with her other hand, "But seeing that you call her your 'sister'… Yang, I take it?"
Sharon Rose… Qrow's eyes widened substantially, "You…" he noticed it too, and so did Ruby, silver eyes… "Summer told me about you!" he pointed at Sharon, "But I thought you were missing?"
"Really now? I guess Summer didn't tell you about our more recent meeting," what recent meeting?! Sharon smirked as she turned back to the sisters, "I never was interested in you anyways," she waved a hand dismissively at Yang, Yang gritted her teeth at this, "I'll let you all in on a little secret."
"There's something in Haven," her grin widened, "May the best man win!" Sharon then disappeared into a cloud of rose petals, unlike Ruby's Semblance; it didn't seem like a dash with a trail it seemed more like full on teleportation.
There's something in Haven huh? Guess she wanted to go after their prize too…
Ah the Silver-Eyed Warriors and the Silver Eyes themselves... such potential you could've had in the story...
The Silver-Eyed Warriors have always been portrayed as basically heroes in the canon, but you'd think with that kind of power some people would go a little off the rails y'know?
How about some Silver-Eyed Warriors who are EVIL! (Ooo so original!)
Yes, Sharon Rose (the name only) is based on Rose of Sharon Cassidy (or Cass) in New Vegas. Since Rose of Sharon is a flower and I want every Silver-Eyed Warrior to have a surname named after a flower. Think of it like fancanon lol. Don't read too much into it.
Also the God of Light is a piece of shit, imagine killing all of humanity smh.
Thanks for reading!
